Donald K. Fitting
MESA, Ariz. - Donald K. Fitting, 65, of Mesa, Ariz., died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, in Mesa.
Local survivors include a brother, Kenneth W. Fitting of Black River Falls; and three sisters, Jean Gilles of La Crosse, Susan Strauss and Gloria Pralle, both of West Salem.
His body will be cremated and burial will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Rose A. Wernke
ONALASKA, Wis. - Rose A. Wernke, age 92, of Onalaska, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, December 30, 1997, in the Onalaska Care Center.
She was born in Eden, South Dakota, on October 30, 1905, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Tschida) Rauchwater. She graduated from St. Alexius School of Nursing in Bismarck, N. Dakota, in 1927. She married Elmer Wernke on October 12, 1930, in Fort Rice, N. Dakota. She worked as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., and Guttenberg Municipal Hospital in Guttenberg, Iowa. She and Elmer moved to Onalaska in 1982.
She is survived by one daughter, Joan (Howard) Antony of Onalaska; one gradnson, Michael Quillin of Winona, Minnesota; five granddaughters, Maureen (Peter) Mozejewski of Milwaukee, Michelle (Brian) Reinke of Milwaukee, Melesia Quillin of Newburgh, New York, Maribeth Quillin of West Monroe, Louisiana and Molly Quillin of Milwaukee; three great-grandchildren, Amanda and Alyssa Mozejewski and Samuel Reinke; four step-grandchildren, Calene (Wayne) Muehlenkamp, Colette (Warren) Johnson, Todd (Debbie) Antony and Terry (Sheila) Antony; eight step great-grandchildren, Pete and Donald Muehlenkamp, Lindsey Johnson, Matt Small, Robbie Burrows, Tara, Amber and Silken Antony; one sister, MaRee (Harold) Yeasley of Bullhead City, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer in 1988; an infant son, Donald in 1935; her parents; two brothers and three sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Onalaska, Rev. Bill Matzek will officiate with entombment to be in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in the Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Blaschke Funeral Home, 401 West Ave. So., on Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service to be at 7 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Donna M. Jeske
INDEPENDENCE, Wis. - Donna M. Jeske, 58, of Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
She was born December 20, 1939, in Marathon County, Wisconsin, to Lawrence and Marie (Lechner) Allmann. Donna married William G. Jeske on May 19, 1962, in Colby. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield. Donna was a homemaker and raised her family in Independence since 1967. Donna and Bill owned and operated the Burger Hut in Independence since 1977. She enjoyed ceramics. Donna was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, its Women's Organization and Rosary Society.
Survivors include her husband, William; four children, Richard (Angela) of Onalaska, Debra (David) Kubisiak of Chanhassen, Minn., Peggy (fiancee Jeffrey Lee) Jeske of Adams, Wis., and Charles (friend Kristie Matchey) of Arcadia; her mother, Marie Allmann of Wausau; three brothers, Larry (Laura) Allmann of El Paso, Texas, Russell (Mary) Allmann of Wausau and James (Meg) Allmann of Mosinee; three sisters, Nancy (Jerry) Lesmeister of Largo, Fla., Sue (Bill) Brockman of Wausau and Sandy (Sid) Lokken of Mosinee; eight grandchildren, Timothy, Rae Anna, Hunter, Abigail and Dalton Jeske, Kristine, Brian and Laura Kubisiak.
Donna was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. Leonard Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence. Friday evening there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edward W. Temp
Edward W. Temp, 86, of La Crosse, died Tuesday, December 30, 1997, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.
He was born in La Crosse on October 27, 1911, to Rudolph and Amelia (Horn) Temp. He worked at Allis Chalmers before his retirement.
He is survived by his second wife, Lilah (Anderson) Groth of La Crosse; two sons, Marvin (Joyce) Temp of Coon Valley and Gordon (Janet) Temp of Onalaska; two daughters, Carol Molzahn of Minneapolis and Judith Scott of Eau Claire; one stepson, Douglas (Terri) Groth of La Crosse; one stepdaughter, Susan (Ray) Wagner of Bangor; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six step grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Tanks and Ida Coplien, both La Crosse.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve Temp; seven brothers and four sisters.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 3, 1998, at 11 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard T. Pamperin will officiate and burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
The family requests memorials to First Ev. Lutheran Church or Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
The Woodruff Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Eugene "Butch" W. Ferris
SPARTA, Wis. - Eugene "Butch" W. Ferris, age 53, died at his home outside of Sparta after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in La Crosse on June 7, 1944, to William and Elaine (Parrish) Kundy. He was united in marriage to Rose Kast on July 1, 1967.
Butch drove truck all of his life with many different companies including: Ed Kraemer & Sons, Standard Materials, Western Wisconsin Ready Mix and presently with River City Ready Mix of La Crosse, to whom he wished to leave a special ``Thanks.'' He loved to hunt with his brothers-in-law and fish at his brother's resort. He was a good pool player and also enjoyed playing swik with his friends. Butch especially looked forward to playing golf with his son and co-workers. If you had the pleasure to meet Butch, you won't forget him. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; one son, Jeff (Michelle); one daughter, Laura Ferris; and three grandchildren, Leianna, Shayla and Skylar Ferris, all of Sparta; two brothers, Lee (Karen) Kundy of Wilson, Wisconsin, and Harold (Kay) Kundy of Lake Elsinore, California; three half-sisters, Evelyn (Howard) Rood of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Louiesa (Gene) Smith of Barre Mills, Wisconsin, and Geneva (David) Brown of Cataract, Wisconsin; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Kast of Cashton, Wisconsin; and foster mom, Neva Webb of Menominee, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine and stepfather, Harvey Ferris; his father, William Kundy; father-in-law, Edward Kast; and foster dad, Jake Webb.
Funeral services will be held at the Torkelson Funeral Chapel in Cashton on Friday, January 2, 1998, at 8 p.m. Pastor William Reese will officiate. Burial will follow, at a later date, in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Sparta.
Relatives and friends are asked to call at the funeral chapel in Cashton on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Robert Andrew "Bob" Keim
Robert Andrew "Bob" Keim, 78, of La Crosse, died Monday, December 29, 1997, at Lakeview Health Center, West Salem.
He was born June 23, 1919, in La Crosse to Andrew and Mary (Mickschl) Keim. On October 23, 1939, he married Myrtle M. Greene in La Crosse at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Bob was employed by Trane Company of La Crosse for over 17 years until 1964 when he and his wife bought what became known as Keim's Ten Mile House. During this time he developed Brookview Mobile Home Park and Continued operation until his retirement. He was a past director of Vernon County Electric Cooperative and served on the La Crosse County Planning Commission. Bob was a member of the La Crosse Kiwanis Elks and Moose and was a past board member with the La Crosse County Tavern League.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle; two daughters, Judith Ann (Gordon) Rieber of La Crosse and Linda L. (Gary) Sarner of Brookfield, Wis.; four grandchildren, Kristine (Jay) Johnson, Patrick (Amile) Rieber, Michael Sarner and Kate Sarner; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Lydia Johnson; one sister, June (Bob) Klein of La Crosse; a special aunt, Tina Jiracek; and many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Andy Rieber and Kevin Sarner; one brother, Jim; one sister, Fern.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 2, at 11 a.m. from St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1031 Main St., Onalaska. Father Bill Matzek will officiate. Burial will be at St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse.
Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lakeview Health Center, Unit C.
Jostad-Jandt Funeral Home, West Salem, is in charge of arrangements.

Willie L. Ghelf
STODDARD/DE SOTO, Wis. - Willie L. Ghelf, age 80, of 350 Elm Street in Stoddard and formerly of De Soto, died on Monday morning, December 29, 1997, at her apartment.
She was born in La Farge on August 15, 1917, to Thomas and Katherine (Melvin) Mills. On June 27, 1936, she married Francis A. Ghelf at Waukon, Iowa. They farmed for 44 years in the town of Wheatland, rural De Soto, in Vernon County. Mr. Ghelf died in August of 1991. In the fall of 1992, she moved to Stoddard. She also had worked as a cook for the De Soto Area Schools and at Northern Engraving in Lansing, Iowa. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa, Valley View Homemakers, had been a leader in the Red Mound Strivers 4-H Club and for several years had taught Sunday School at the Red Mound United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Loren (Jean) Ghelf of Genoa; one daughter, Debra Wickham of Ferryville; one daughter-in-law, Mary Ghelf of Genoa; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Scott (Thelma) Mills, Charles (Betty) Mills, both of Viroqua; four sisters-in-law, Hazel Mills of Viroqua, Josephine Amann, Harriett Ghelf, both of La Crosse and Mary Lee of Portage; two special friends, Jeanette Smith of Genoa and Dorothy Huntington of Stoddard; other relatives and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by three sons, Tom in 1964, Ronald in 1987 and Wayne in 1991; one brother, George W. Mills; and one sister, Etta Espe.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 1998, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa with Father Larry Dunklee officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday, January 1, 1998, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua where there will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. Friends may also call at the church after 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

Esther Emma Bosse
PRESCOTT, Wis. - Esther Emma Bosse, 92, a resident of St. Croix Care Center, Prescott, Wis., died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, in the Regina Medical Center, Hastings, Minn.
She was born Dec. 19, 1905, the daughter of Richard C. and Augusta (Guenther) Scharlau in Arcadia, Wis. She was a graduate of Arcadia High School. She married Carlos Lewis Bosse on July 2, 1929, and he preceded her in death. She was a member of Our Saviour's Ev. Lutheran Church, Hastings, Minn.
She is survived by her daughter, Ardys Mae Frahm of Hastings, Minn.; her grandchildren, Nancy (Dan) Peterson, Terry (Jean) Frahm and Lori (John) Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Ellen, Julia and Willie Peterson, Ann and Maggie Taylor and Eric and Charlie Frahm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos; two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, in Our Saviour's Ev. Lutheran Church, Hastings. The Rev. William Strom officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Glencoe Lutheran Cemetery, Arcadia.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday in the church.
The Thomas Ellis Funeral Home, Hastings, is handling the arrangements.
