Roy J. Harnisch
WHITEHALL/PIGEON FALLS, Wis. - Roy J. Harnisch, 77, of Whitehall, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997 in Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pigeon Falls. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Jack Funeral Home, Whitehall; and one hour prior to services Friday in the church.

Edward O. Richmond
Edward O. Richmond, 84, of La Crosse, died on Monday, February 10, 1997 in his home. He was born in La Crosse on September 19, 1912 to John and Sophia (Pierce) Richmond. He married Hilde Rebhan on February 19, 1938 in La Crosse. Ed was a lifelong resident of La Crosse. He had worked for the G. Heileman Brewery of La Crosse for 33 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of Brewery Workers Local 1081 of La Crosse. Ed served as town of Campbell assessor from 1950 until 1954. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1920, La Crosse; and the Knights of Columbus Council 839, La Crosse. Ed loved working in his vegetable garden and yard. He enjoyed the simple things that life offered.
In addition to his wife, Hilde, he is survived by five daughters, Nancy (John) Huerkamp of Holmen, Wis., Linda Richmond of La Crosse, Susan Richmond of Golden Valley, Minn., Mary (James) Sackmaster of Fort Atkinson, Wis., and Christine (Martin) Severson of West Salem, Wis.; a son, Donald of Onalaska, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ray (Bonnie) Richmond of Greenfield, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 14, 1997 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The Rev. Lawrence B. Berger will officiate. Entombment will be in the St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Gunderson Lutheran Hospice Program. ``Out of our sight - that's all.''

Cleota Wilkinson
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. - Cleota Buelah Wilkinson, 86, of Prairie du Chien, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997 in Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Seneca United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Seneca United Methodist Church or Hospice Care of Prairie du Chien. The Garrity Funeral Home, Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family.

Merritt A. Holseth
ROCKLAND, Wis. - Merritt A. Holseth, age 83 years, of Rockland, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997 at the Mulder Health Care Facility in West Salem, where he was a resident. He was born June 12, 1913 in Pigeon Falls, Wisconsin, to Martin and Alma (Tolvstad) Holseth. He married Ione Olson on December 23, 1935 in West Salem. They farmed in the Sweden Coulee area for many years, and later in Bells Coulee. After retirement he worked for the Webster Lumber Company for 13 years. Merritt enjoyed horse shows, and he was widely known in the area for his horseshoe playing, where he earned over 40 trophies. During one Octoberfest he was inducted into the horseshoe hall of fame.
He is survived by one son, Leon (Dia) Holseth of Bangor and their children, Mike and Shelley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ione in 1991; two sisters; and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 1997 at the Bells Coulee Lutheran Church. Rev. J. David Bersagel will officiate. Burial will be in the Rockland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fossum Funeral Home in Bangor from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and at the church on Friday from noon until the time of services.

Mildred Tyler
WESTBY, Wis. - Mildred Tyler, 76, of Westby, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997 in Vernon Manor, Viroqua. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Westby. Burial will be in Manning Cemetery, rural Readstown. Friends may call from noon until the time of services Sunday at the church. The Sime Funeral Home, Readstown, is serving the family.

Irene Jeanette Trehus
SPRING GROVE, Minn. - Irene Onsgard Trehus, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997 in Tweeten Lutheran Health Care Center, Spring Grove. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Roble Funeral Home, Spring Grove; and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. The family prefers that memorials be given to the American Parkinson's Disease Association.

Carl F. Michel
Carl F. Michel, 76, passed away at Hillview Health Care Center, La Crosse, on Thursday, February 13, 1997, after a period of declining health. Carl, a lifelong resident of La Crosse, is survived by his sister, Catherine Michel Solie; and five nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl F. and Nina Faustman Michel; and a brother, Frederick. Carl attended Trinity College at Hartford, Connecticut. His education there was interrupted by WWII, in which he served in the Army for four years, being discharged after European Theatre duty in 1945. He then completed his education at the UW-Madison prior to employment at La Crosse Breweries, Inc. A memorial service, to be announced later, will be held at Christ Episcopal Church.

Lester L. Hoepfner
HAWKEYE, Iowa - Lester L. Hoepfner, 75, of La Crosse, died in his home Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Hawkeye, Iowa. Interment will be in Wilson Grove Cemetery, Sumner, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Hawkeye, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Ole K. Helgerson
MOUNT STERLING, Wis. - Ole K. Helgerson, 101, formerly of Mount Sterling, died at the Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home, Soldiers Grove, on Thursday, February 13, 1997. He was born in Crawford County on February 1, 1896 to Knute and Mary (Anderson) Helgerson. Ole married Inga Nederloe on May 5, 1920 at the Mount Sterling Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on February 3, 1981. Ole was a farmer. In his retirement he served as the custodian at the Mount Sterling Lutheran Church and the Mount Sterling Elementary School. He enjoyed driving the school bus, woodworking and stitching in his later years. He was a charter member of the Mount Sterling Lutheran Church.
He is survived by four children, Reuben (Amber) Helgerson of Mount Sterling, and Katherine L. Blodgett, Helen (Lawrence) Coleman and Rolf Helgerson, all of La Crosse; by 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph; four brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 17, 1997 at the Mount Sterling Lutheran Church. Pastor Paul Finger will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Dommersnaes-Bertram Funeral Home, Gays Mills, on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m., with an 8 p.m. prayer service, and at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Mount Sterling Lutheran Church or Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home, Soldiers Grove.

Mary M. Rhadans
KENDALL, Wis. - Mary M. Rhadans, 75, of Kendall, died Thursday, February 13, 1997 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. She was born July 19, 1921 to John and Mabel (Burdick) Creviston at Wilton, Wis. She was united in marriage to Raymond Rhadans June 12, 1943 at Sparta. He preceded her in death January 5, 1982. She attended Kinny Valley and Kendall schools. Prior to her retirement, she was in charge of food service at Royall High School for 25 years. She was a devoted and faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Elroy and a member of the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Lowell) Dalsoren of Oregon and Wanda (Jerry) Wisco of Mineral Point; two grandchildren, Cynthia (Jacque) Vallier of Indianapolis, Ind., and Nichole (Christopher) Anderson of Mineral Point; two great-grandchildren, Jaykub and Shiana Anderson; one brother, Wayland Creviston of Wilton; and five sisters, Audrey Jacobson of Wilton, Collette Haseley of Kendall, Frances (John) Schanhofer of Sparta, Margaret Kolowrat of Milwaukee and Delores Worden of Tomah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15, 1997 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Elroy. Rev. Miles Renaas will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery at Kendall. Relatives and friends are invited to call today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home in Kendall and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Anna Nelson
HOLMEN, Wis. - Anna Nelson, 94, of Holmen, died Wednesday, February 12, 1997 at the Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse. She was born on January 2, 1903 in La Crosse to Andrew and Carrie Jensen. She married Claude Nelson and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1974.
She is survived by a son, Myron Nelson of Holmen; a sister, Olena Klaus of Seattle, Wash.; and two grandchildren, Cheryl and Mark. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Wallace Nelson, and a brother Robert Jensen.
Memorial services will be Saturday, February 15 at 11 a.m. at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 515 McHugh Road, Holmen. The Reverend Phillip Borleske will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Rudolph Aaron Nelson
MARINETTE/BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Rudolph Aaron Nelson, 88, of the Marinette-Black River Falls area, died of cancer Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997 in a Marinette nursing home. Funeral services were held February 5 in Marinette. Burial of the cremains was in a Marinette cemetery.
