Lida K. Carr
VIROQUA, Wis. - Lida K. Carr, age 98, of La Crosse and formerly of Viroqua, died Monday, February 2, 1998 at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse. She was born February 27, 1899 in Monroe County to Albert and Mary (Kampuschroer) Smeenk. She was united in marriage to Dan K. Carr in November of 1924. They made their home in Viroqua. Dan died on October 6, 1950. Lida continued to live in Viroqua until December of 1990, when she moved to La Crosse to be near her children. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Viroqua, and was a charter menmber of the Viroqua American Legion Auxiliary.
Lida is survived by her daughter, Mary Carr of La Crosse; her son Edward (Sandra) Carr of La Crosse; a sister-in-law, Selma Smeenk of Viroqua; special nieces, Dorothy Berg of Viroqua and Betty Baier of La Crosse; other nieces; and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, and five sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 5, 1998 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Viroqua. Father James Miller will officiate with burial in the Virqoua Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday after 10 a.m. The Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Hillview Health Care Center.

Robert `Bobby' Christianson
Robert ``Bobby'' Christianson, age 69, of La Crosse, died on Monday, February 2, 1998 in his home. He was born in Viroqua on August 13, 1928 to Fred and Hannah Christianson. Bobby owned his own Motorola Service Station for 25 years in La Crosse.
He is survived by his former wife, Rosemary ``Toodie''; three sons, Bruce of La Crosse, Scott of Minneapolis and David of La Crosse; a daughter, Barbara of La Crosse; two grandsons, Marcus and Skylar; four sisters, twin sister Betty of La Crosse, Pearl of Santa Paula, Calif., Goldie of Aurora, Ill., and Connie of La Crosse; and one brother, Ray of Hendersonville, N.C.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7 at 11 a.m. at the Sletten McKee Hanson Funeral Home, La Crosse. Burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Verl L. Beeman
BOSCOBEL, Wis. - Verl L. Beeman, 64, of Boscobel, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998 in Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa, Ariz. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday from United Methodist Church, Boscobel. Burial will be in Ash Ridge Cemetery, Richland County. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Beeman-Patchak Funeral Home, Boscobel. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be established in his name.

Le Noir I. Lacke
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. - Le Noir I. Lacke, 78, of Prairie du Chien, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998 in Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. today in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. The Garrity Funeral Home, Prairie du Chien, is assisting with arrangements.

Marjorie E. `Marge' Christensen
BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Marjorie E. ``Marge'' Christensen, 74, of Black River Falls and formerly of City Point and Shennington, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998 in Black River Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Thursday from Black River Falls United Methodist Church and burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Shennington. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Jackson County Alzheimer's Support Group. The Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, is in charge of arrangements.

Glenn E. Moorhead
ALMA CENTER, Wis. - Glenn E. Moorhead, 83, of Alma Center, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998 in Black River Memorial Hospital. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Alma Center United Methodist Church. Burial with military rites will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Alma Center. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Mae L. Bakkum
Mae L. Bakkum, 83, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully at Hillview Health Care Center, Tuesday, Feburary 3, 1998.
She was born May 22, 1914, in La Crosse, to Julius and Sophia (Janoch) Netwal. She married Russell Bakkum on Feburary 17, 1933, in La Crosse. They had almost sixty-five years of married life together. Russell preceded Mae in death on January 25, 1998.
Mae had been employed by the La Crosse Rubber Mills for thirty-four years.
She enjoyed archery, bowling and was an avid bingo player. Another great hobby was making a variety of crafts with the family and selling them at the Holiday Fair for twenty-four years. Mae enjoyed traveling with friends and her granddaughter, Cindy. They traveled from coast to coast over the past several years.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Francis) ``Obbie'' Merfeld of La Crosse; a son, Ronnie (Margaret) Bakkum of La Crosse; by four grandchidlren, Cindy, Tom, Shelly and Mary; two great-grandchildren; and five brothers, Lester of La Crescent, Clarence (Millie), Jerome (Lota) and Robert (Alice), all of La Crosse and Ray (Donna) of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband and by four brothers.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson Street. The Reverend Allen Townsend will officiate. Burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thrusday from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the service.

Donald J. Janeiro
ONALASKA, Wis. - Donald J. Janeiro, 55, of Onalaska, Wis., died on Wednesday, February 4, 1998, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
He was born on April 4, 1942, in La Crosse to Manuel and Laura (Medeiros) Janeiro. He married Margaret M. Erickson on November 27, 1970, in La Crosse. Don was a Veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the U.S. Marine Corps. For many years he worked as a salesman for Moen Photo of La Crosse.
In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by two brothers, Robert (Cindy) of La Crosse and Richard of San Antonio, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marianne; and a brother, William.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 1998, at Trinity Lutheran Church, La Crosse. The Rev. Ted Dewald will officiate. Burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Aquinas School, La Crosse.

Opal L. Neuheisal
TEMPE, Ariz./CASHTON, Wis. - Opal L. Neuheisal, age 79, of Tempe, Arizona, and formerly of Cashton, died Saturday, January 31, 1998, in Tempe, Arizona.
Opal was born September 4, 1918, in Viroqua, Wis., and she was married to Gerald Neuheisal, who died in 1974.
Opal is survived by one son, Richard G. Neuheisal of Tempe, Arizona; four grandchildren, Rick Neuheisal (Head football coach of the University of Colorado), Nancy Bell, Kate Neuheisal and Deborah Harvego; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was held at the Tempe Funeral Home on Tuesday and a funeral service will be held in Cashton on Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at 10 a.m. from the Torkelson Funeral Chapel with Father Kevin Louis officiating and burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cashton.
Relatives and friends may call at the Torkelson Funeral Chapel in Cashton on Monday from 9 a.m. to the time of the service.

Robert Thompson
SOLDIERS GROVE, Wis. - Robert Thompson, 58, of Soldiers Grove, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel of Soldiers Grove; two stepsons, Orville (Vicky) Hill of Beloit and Clifford ``Sonny'' (Tish) Hill of Sears, Michigan; one stepdaughter, Patty (Richard) Westfall of Machesney Park, Ill.; six step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; one brother, Tilmer (Nancy) Thompson of Dodgeville; and two sisters, Gertrude Sagmoen of Soldiers Grove and Esther (David) Mickelson of Blue River; and three godsons, Timmy and Tracey Turben and Ethan Thompson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Soldiers Grove. Pastor Leif Espeland will officiate and burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Soldiers Grove.
Friends may call at the Sime Funeral Home in Readstown on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from noon until time of services.

Michael Bernard Eggen
SUN RIVER, Mont. - Michael Bernard Eggen, 46, of Sun River, Mont., and formerly of Onalaska and Holmen, Wis., died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at home.
Michael was born Sept. 15, 1951, in La Crosse, to Elaine and Bernard Eggen. In 1975, he married Cheri Harebo in Holmen. He attended elementary school in Mindoro and graduated from Onalaska High School in 1969. He received an Associate Accounting Degree from Great Falls Vocational Technical School. He was in the Army from 1969 to 1975. He was currently employed with Harvest States Co-op, Great Falls, Mont., as a grain handler.
He was a 4-H leader, past American Legion member of Post 336 in Onalaska and past member of Voiture 830 of the 40 et 8 of La Crosse County. He raised livestock and horses and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Cheri Eggen; one daughter, Sara Eggen of Billings, Mont.; one son, Nolan Eggen of Sun River, Mont.; his mother, Elaine Eggen, Bangor, Wis.; four brothers, Richard (Mary Jo) Eggen of Holmen, Terry (Judy) Eggen of Onalaska, David (Christa) Eggen of Germany and Dennis (Kathy) Eggen of Holmen; three sisters, Kathleen (Tim) Beron of Rockland, Wis., Lynn (Jeff) Reed of Rockland and Kelly Alexander and Jim of West Salem; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Eggen; a sister, Sharon; a nephew, Darrel; a sister-in-law, Karen.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Croxford and Son's Funeral Home. Burial, with military rites, will be in the Sun River Cemetery.
Funeral vigil will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Croxford and Son's Rose Room.

Richard James Lamb
Richard James Lamb died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 3, 1998, at the age of 57. He was born on November 21, 1940 to Robert E. and Katherine Gallagher Lamb in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He married Mary Lou Tremaine on January 8, 1966.
Richard attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, and had been employed as a design engineer at Indus International in West Salem until he became disabled in 1993. He earned a private pilot's license and had been a member of the La Crosse Flyer's Association. Richard also loved the river and enjoyed houseboating with family and friends.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Onalaska; two sons, Jeffrey J. Lamb, his wife Barbara, and grandson Adam of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Bryan R. Lamb of Honolulu, Hawaii; his parents, Robert and Katherine Lamb of Clarks Summit, Penn.; a brother, David (Cozette) Lamb of Worthington, Ohio; and two sisters, Linda (John) Todd of Huntington, Conn., and Kay (James) Lebeda of Des Moines, Iowa. He is also loved and missed by many relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, at 2 p.m. at the Dickinson Funeral Home, Onalaska, with a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the same location. Chaplain William Reese of the Hospice Unit at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society and/or the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center hospice program.
