Brewer, George James "Jim"
March 12, 1920 - Nov. 5, 2001
EAST TROY -- George James "Jim" Brewer, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 5, 2001. He was born on March 12, 1920 in Center Point, IN, where he received his education. On March 18, 1944, he married LaVerne (Haslam) in Mukwonago. The couple made their home in East Troy, where they operated a family farm for many years and later both enjoyed working for the East Troy Community School District. He was past master of the Masonic Laflin Lodge No. 247, St. James Lodge No. 41, held his 32nd Degree from the Scottish Rite, was a past patron of the OES Vesper Chapter No. 12 and member of Labelle Chapter No. 40. Jim was dearly devoted to the Masons and enjoyed holding many offices throughout his Masonic career. Both Jim and his wife are charter members of the Mukwonago United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, LaVerne; 12 children: Dennis, Richard, Jon, Charles (Lynn), Thomas (Tammy), Scott, Keith, Cynthia (Joseph) Dooley, Beth (Donald) Archer, Janice, Kay, and Julie (Paul) Hollenbeck; a sister, Mary (Harland); a cousin, Margaret Ann Hardy; 14 grandchildren: D.J., Glen (Beth), Robin, Michael, Amanda (Michael) Karangelen, Thomas, Debbie Fryman (Steve Paddock), Sara (Tommie) Trewyn, Brian, Christy, Jason, Timothy, Melissa, and Nicole; 4 great-grandchildren: Zachary, Quinn Paddock, Gabrielle and Jacob Trewyn; 3 sisters-in-law: Sarah (Dr. W.E.) Rosenkranz, Maxine (Howard) Strickler, Hazel Brewer; brother-in-law, Mike (Dorothy) Haslam; nieces; nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 8, 2001 at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME in East Troy, from 4 until 7 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. and funeral services at immediate following. The Committal Service will be held on Fri., Nov. 9, 2001 at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., followed by interment at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Mukwonago. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the Brewer family has suggested memorials to Rolland Nelson Crossroads Hospice, ProHealth Care Transportation Services at Waukesha Memorial Hospital or Mukwonago UCC.

Campbell, Burlie
July 11, 1930 - Oct. 28, 2001
VIROQUA -- Burlie Campbell, age 71, formerly of Soldier's Grove, passed away on Sun., Oct. 28, 2001, at his home. He was born on July 11, 1930 in Soldier's Grove. He graduated from Soldiers Grove High School. On June 16, 1950, he married Florence Koch. He owned a grocery store and a restaurant, both in Soldiers Grove. Later he sold insurance and was a real estate broker. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Burlie enjoyed many activities with family and friends, including golf, card games and cussing and pacing the living room when his beloved Packers were playing. He loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. His calls to ask about how the basketball and football games came out will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Florence of Viroqua, 3 children: Steve (Barbara) Campbell of Hurley, WI, Randy (Carol) Campbell of Janesville, Laura (Richard) Christenson of Mt. Vernon, WA, 7 grandchildren: Steve Campbell of Tomah, Nathan (Sue) Campbell of Westby, Adam Campbell of Janesville, Dustin Hoffland of Gainesville, GA, Milly Campbell of Hurley, Robbie Campbell of Janesville, Megan Christenson of Mt. Vernon, WA; a great-grandson, Jordan Campbell of Tomah; a sister, Diedre Larson of Soldiers Grove; a brother, Philip (Vickie) Larson of Soldiers Grove; a brother-in-law, Tom Walsh of Soldiers Grove; 3 sisters-in-law: Phyllis Larson of Albany, WI, Mary Janee Larson of Soldiers Grove, Chris Larson of Savannah, GA; 2 special aunts, Ina Hoffland and Fern Bee of Soldiers Grove; many other nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez (Ervin) Larson; stepfather, Ervin (Inez) Larson; a sister, Ramona Walsh; 3 brothers: Cecil, Terry and Mike Larson.Funeral services will be held on Thurs., Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. at OUR SAVIORS LUTHERAN CHURCH in Soldiers Grove. Pastor Pam Lojewski will officiate,and burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Soldiers Grove. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the SIME FUNERAL HOME in Readstown, and on Thursday at the church from noon until the time of services at the church.
He was a loving husband and caring father and great friend who will be forever missed.
Hallowed be the memory of Burlie Jean Campbell.

Buskirk, Helen M.
Nov. 5, 1911 - Oct. 20, 2001
BELOIT -- Helen M. Buskirk, age 89, formerly of Beloit, died on Sat. morning, Oct. 20, 2001 in Countryside Home, Jefferson, WI. She was born on Nov. 5, 1911, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Charles H. and Clara M. Reichstein Page. Helen married Ellsworth F. Buskirk on Oct. 18, 1947 in Rockford. Helen was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, the church Naomi Circle, and a past member of Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, cooking and knitting. She was a loving grandma and great-grandma.
Survivors include 2 sons, Charles (Barbara) Buskirk of Ft. Atkinson, WI, and Ellsworth R. (Mabel) Buskirk of State College, PA; a daughter, Vergean (Bill) Knapp-Jurs of Janesville; 5 grandchildren: Emily Buskirk, Jean (Steve) Behl, John (Pam) Knapp, Laurel (Dave) Wiestard and Christine (Glenn) Hallet; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Gentner of Rockford, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Ellsworth on Aug. 4, 1978; her parents; daughter, Bonnie Buskirk; a grandson, Andrew Buskirk; one granddaughter, Joan Knapp; 2 sisters, Anna Hubler and Marcia Mandeville; a son-in-law, William Knapp.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tues., Oct. 23, 2001 in ATONEMENT LUTHERAN CHURCH, Beloit, with Rev. Tim Heineke officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery, Clinton, WI. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to the time of service in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch and Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Casey, Patricia A.
July 30, 1933 - Oct. 31, 2001
JANESVILLE -- Patricia A. Casey, age 68, of 4647 N. River Rd., died Wed., Oct. 31, 2001 at Mercy Health System. She was born on July 30, 1933 in Janesville, the daughter of William and Helen (Malone) Close, Sr. She has been a lifelong resident of Janesville. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1952. Patricia married James H. Casey on May 15, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, they were married 47 years. James died on July 27, 2001. She was employed by Mercy Hospital as a nursing assistant, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Patricia loved people, especially her family, and enjoyed playing cards and games with everyone.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Karl) Allen; 2 sons, James H. Casey III, and Patrick W. Casey, all of Janesville; 6 grandchildren: Sara ( Fiancee Nate Herzig) Wille, Jessica (Fiancee Bill Livingston) Allen, Katie Allen, James H. Casey IV, Misty Casey, and Seth Casey; 2 sisters: Helen Jean Close, and Carol Close; a brother, William Close, Jr. all of Janesville, 6 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, and a sister Peggy Coutts.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sat., Nov. 3, 2001, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Msgr. Ray Kertz officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Church.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Chang, who gave her excellent care the last few years. A Special thank you goes to the Mercy Hospice Nursing Team (PreHospice), especially to Melanie Wentler. A special thank you goes to her good friend June Rabuck. Special thanks to Kealey Pharmacy for the great services they provided.

Childs, Lynnette M. (Campbell)
Sept. 1, 1967 - Oct. 19, 2001
BELOIT -- Lynnette M. (Campbell) Childs, age 34, of 1017 Johnson St., a former Janesville resident, died of injuries suffered in an auto-pedestrian accident on Fri., Oct. 19, 2001. Lynnette was born on Sept. 1, 1967 in Janesville, the daughter of Harold and Joan (Stanke) Campbell. She attended Janesville schools and married Thomas Childs on Aug. 11, 2001.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas; 2 children from a previous marriage, Elizabeth and Mathew Harmel, both of Beloit; 2 stepchildren, Kari Childs of Beloit and Amie Childs of Schiocton, WI; her parents, Harold and Joan Campbell of Janesville; 3 sisters: Susan (William) Kalson of Grand Terrace, CA, Vicki Campbell of Janesville, Joan (Jeffrey) Lyga of Clinton; a brother, Steven Campbell of Janesville; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a cousin, Virginia Helgeson who was raised in the Campbell home.
Funeral services will be held on Tues., Oct. 23, 2001 at 1 p.m. at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Kay Welsch of Cargill United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME.

Christianson, Pearl Gretchen Liekness
Feb. 6, 1916 - Nov. 4, 2001
EDGERTON -- Pearl Gretchen Liekness Christianson, age 85, died on Nov. 4, 2001 at the Skaalen Home, Stoughton. She was born on Feb. 6, 1916, the daughter of Pete and Grace Greig Liekness. She married Melvin Christianson Nov. 15, 1933; in Rockford, IL. She is a member of Central Lutheran Church. She worked for many years as a waitress and at Nunn Bush Shoe. She was known for her baking, especially Norwegian delicacies and lefsa. She also crocheted many afghans for her children and grandchildren. She loved working with her many flowers and bird watching.
She is survived by 4 children: Ardyth (Robert) Halverson, Terry (Linda) Christianson, both of Edgerton, Dale (Janet) Christianson of Janesville, Carla (Frank) Jackson of Fort Atkinson; 12 grandchildren: Rick (Peggy) Halverson, Lori (John) Ainsworth, Ronda (Donald) Dorn, Jeff (Adreine) Christianson, Jody, Jerry and Amy Christianson, Eric (Laurie) Christianson, Tracy (Mark) Pierce, Kelly (Nate) Zastrow, Carrie (Mat) Nehls, Chris (Amy) Jackson; 15 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Annes Nelson, and Fern Larson; a special sister-in-law, Leona Ehle, all of Stoughton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; 3 sisters: Murt Strandlie, Hazel Thompson, Eleanore Kittleson.
Funeral services will be held on Thurs., Nov. 8, 2001 at 11 a.m. at CENTRAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, with Pastors Jim Johnson and Steve Timm officiating. Burial will be in the Fassett Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Edgerton.
She will be greatly missed by her family and all who loved her.

March 24, 1923 - Oct. 29, 2001
DARIEN -- Caroline E. Clowes, age 78, of N3810 Clowes Rd, died Mon., Oct. 29, 2001, at Lakeland Medical Center, Elkhorn. She was born on March 24, 1923 in Sugar Creek Township, WI, the daughter of Frank and Lydia (Bigelow) Earnest. She married Keith W. Clowes on Feb. 15, 1941 in Dubuque, IA. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Clinton, belonging to the A.B.W., and also a member of the Fairfield Grange.
She is survived by her husband, Keith of Darien; 3 daughters: Barbara (Ronald) Schoppe of Avalon, Shirley (John) Sorg of Darien, and Kay (fiance Victor Holtzee) Lippens of Avalon; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Ellen Amend of Elkhorn; also nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; a son-in-law, Michael.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Fri., Nov. 2, 2001 at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH in Clinton, with Rev. Richard Hyman officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at MONROE FUNERAL HOME, Delavan. Interment will be in Darien Cemetery.
