Leonard M. Oines
Leonard M. Oines, 79, of Galesville, died Friday, January 21, 2000 in Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis.
He was born April 14, 1920 on the family farm in Galesville to Lorentz and Emma (Alme) Oines. Upon completion of high school he studied Agriculture (short course) at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. He returned to the family farm marrying Charlotte Stoner in 1941, later divorcing. He married Glenice Grotjahn in 1949 and together with their children raised a prize winning purebred Guernsey herd that competed on the County, State and National level. He retired from active farming in 1983. In 1986 he married Doris Trudeau. They were active members of Single/Solo Parents organization and enjoyed traveling the USA and abroad. Leonard was a steward of the land and took pride in the ponds that were created on the home farm. He retired from active farming but actively wrote articles to the powers that be in hopes of making the politicians aware of the dilemma of the Wisconsin farmer and the concerns with the disappearing farm land and wildlife habitat that depends on the land. The State politicians Herb Kohl/Feingold will notice the reduction in their mail volume.
He is survived by his wife Doris; two daughters, Lori (Oines) Dixon of Elizabeth, Penn., Kathleen (Oines) Filkouski of Trempealeau, Wis.; two sons, Dr. Robert Oines, of Beaver Dam, Wis., Gary Oines of Boston, Mass; grandchildren Asa Oines, Kristin Oines, Zachary and Alyssa Dixon, Craig and Michael Filkouski; great-grandchildren Alex, Ben, Sam and Andrew Filkouski; two sisters Lilah Anderson and Lillian Worch of Middleton, Wis.; stepchildren Pam Glubka, Michael, Scott, Robert and Kristine Trudeau; step grandchildren Blake, Angel, Amiee, Andrew, Jill, Jim Trudeau and Krystal and Jessica Glubka; several nieces and nephews.
Life celebration services were held Monday, January 24, 2000 at Zion Lutheran Church, Galesville. Rev. Arnold Flater officiated.
Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville chapel assisted the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.

Corinne Olson
Corinne Olson, 81, of La Crosse and formerly of Galesville died Friday, August 13, 1999 in her home.
Corinne was born February 6, 1918 to Carl and Augusta (Anderson) Tranberg in the town of Gale.
On September 27, 1941 Corinne married Dallas Olson in the French Creek Lutheran Church.
Corinne was a life long member of French Creek Lutheran Church, a member of the W-E.L.C.A. and the Altar Guild. She also taught Sunday School for many years. Corinne was also very active in the Merry Makers Homemakers Club.
Corinne farmed in partnership with her husband until they moved to La Crosse in 1995 so they could be closer to their daughter and her family.
Corinne is survived by her husband; one daughter Darlene (Robert) Dayton; two grandchildren, Susan Dayton, Michael Dayton and his fiancee Amy Peterson, all of La Crosse; two sisters, Evelyn (Harold) Conrad of Melrose, Helen (Gerald) Melby of Ettrick.
Corinne was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Selma.
Funeral services were Tuesday, August 17, 1999 at French Creek Lutheran Church in Ettrick, Wis. Rev. M.C. Parkhurst officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Zwickey Funeral Homes in Galesville assisted the family with arrangements.

Mary A. Olson
Mary A. Olson, 80, of La Crosse, Wis. died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998 in Franciscan Skemp Nursing Home, La Crosse.
She was born Sept. 17, 1918 at Centerville, Wis. to Herman L. and Leona (Stephan) Halderson. She was a graduate of Galesville High School and attended Gale College and the La Crosse Vocational School.
On Sept. 21, 1941 she married Martin Olson. He died Oct. 16, 1964. Mary was a homemaker, and following her husband's death worked for many years at Cy's Bakery on 7th and Cass Streets in La Crosse.
She is survived by a son, David, a daughter-in-law, Ann and a granddaughter, Melanie, all of Ames, Iowa. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. Her body will be cremated. No funeral service is scheduled at the request of the deceased.

Rodney J. Olson, Jr.
Rodney J. Olson, Jr. "Jason," age 27, of Atloona, WI formerly of River Falls, was killed on Sunday, November 15, 1998 as the result of a hunting accident in Dunn County.
He was born August 16, 1971 in La Crosse, WI, the son of Rodney J. and LaVonne L. (Cordes) Olson, Sr.
Jason attend River Falls High School. He was employed by Krumenauer Builders of Eau Claire, WI as a carpenter. He was very active in hunting, fishing, and sports, especially softball, where he played for three teams in Eau Claire.
He is survived by his parents of Somerset, WI, one brother, Shawn M. of Somerset, WI; his fiance Teresa J. Richardson of Altoona, WI; paternal grandparents, Norman and Betty Olson of Trempealeau; paternal great- grandmother, Clara Laehn of Galesville; maternal grandmother, Lorene Cordes of Hokah, MN, maternal grandfather, Henry Cordes of La Crescent,MN. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Memorial services were held on November 20, 1998 in Prescott, WI.

Eleanor Pearlman
Eleanor died Saturday, May 22, 1999 in her home. She was born to Einar and Olga (Saeter) Olsen August 7, 1918. She married Mr. Sol Pearlman in 1948. They divorced in 1963.
She is survived by her one(1) son, Michael and was preceded in death by both her parents and six brothers Norman (Jack), Bernard (Buss'), Herman, Rolf, Osmund (Omy) and Erling. She also has several nieces, cousins and nephews as well as one sister-in-law (Mildred Olsen).
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 26, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. with visitation one hour before at Zion Lutheran Church, Galesville. Burial was in Pine Cliff Cemetery.

Mary Lou Pelowski
Mary Lou Pelowski, age 56, of Trempealeau, Wis. died Wednesday, November 17, 1999 in her home.
She was born June 22, 1943 in Prairie du Chien, Wis. to Clifford and Marie (Koppen) Myers. She married Chester J. Pelowski, Sr., on July 7, 1973 in La Crosse, Wis. He died April 15, 1999. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Parish in Trempealeau. She owned and operated "Chet's Bait Shop" with her husband until his death. Mary was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Trempealeau.
Survivors are 3 daughters, Madonna Yingling, Tremp-ealeau, Deanna (Richard) Danials, Trempealeau, Jodi (Mike) Soruji, Houston, Texas;
2 sons, Clifford Pelowski and Chester (C.J.) Pelowski, both of Trempealeau; 6 grandchildren; 2 brothers, James (Sandra) Myers, Rockton, Ill., Joseph (Phyllis) Myers, Beloit, Wis;
2 sisters, Roseann (Paul) Zach, Eastman, Wis. and Donna (Dale) Henkes, Winona, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial was November 20, 1999 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Trempealeau. The Reverend Robert Wagner officiated. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Trempealeau.

Hazel Pickering
Hazel (Newcomb) Pickering, 81, of Trempealeau, died Sunday, February 20, 2000 in Marinuka Manor, Galesville, Wis.
She was born March 1, 1918 in Arcadia, Wis. to Horton and Margaret (Webb) Newcomb. Hazel graduated from Trempealeau High School in 1936 as the class valedictorian and then attended Winona Business College. She worked at the Trempealeau Post Office before she enlisted in the Waves during WWII. After being discharged, she married Wesley Pickering of Galesville, Wis. in Brooklyn, New York on February 14, 1946. The couple lived in Galesville and later in Trempealeau. Hazel had been employed by Citizens State Bank of Trempealeau for 33 years and was Trempealeau's Citizen of the Year in 1983.
She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors are a sister, Jean (Edward) LaSeure of La Crosse, Wis; several nieces, nephews, grt. nieces and grt. nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; a son, Alan; 3 sisters, Mary Schliecker, Nellie Church, Florence Thompson; and 2 brothers, John Newcomb and Lincoln Newcomb.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2000 in Trempealeau United Methodist Church with Rev. Betsy Miller-Ruben officiating. Burial will be in Trempealeau Public Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from noon until services.
