Shirley V. Emerson
Shirley V. Emerson, 58, of Galesville died on Wednesday, April 12, 2000 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Center, La Crosse, Wis. following a brief illness.
Shirley was born May 31, 1941 to Arthur and Verna (Ranzo) Shires in Winona, Minn. She married Bernard Emerson of Galesville, Wis. on April 21, 1962. She was employed as a cook and waitress at Mike's Bar and Grill until the time of her death.
Shirley is survived by three daughters, Renee (Ernie Jr.) Komperud and Shelley (Andy) Ofsdahl, both of Ettrick, Wis. and Laura (Don) Wyttenbach of Arcadia, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Ernie III, Margo and Andy Komperud, Jeff, Kyle, Karly and Hannah Ofsdahl; three sisters, Rose (Edward) Kamrowski of Dodge, Wis., Patricia (David) Galewski of Independence, Wis. and Cindy Riska of Winona, Minn.; two brothers, Joseph Jr. and David Riska, both of Winona, Minn; a special aunt, Helen Brand of Winona, Minn; a special first cousin Roger Brand of Minnesota City, Minn; several nieces and nephews; closest friends Nancy Olson and Donna Peterson.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a grandson Steven Komperud.
Funeral services were Monday, April 17, 2000 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Galesville. Fr. Robert Wagner officiated. Burial was in St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery in Ettrick, Wis.
Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel assisted the family.
Casketbearers were Randy Sveen, Darrell Sveen, Darrel Olson, David Galewski, Ed Kamrowski and Roger Brand.

Kenneth Enghagen
Kenneth Gerhard Enghagen, 80, of rural Ettrick died Sunday, February 27, 2000 in Grand View Care Center, Blair, Wis.
He was born June 6, 1919 on the home farm in French Creek, Ettrick Township, Trempealeau County, Wis. to Bernt Idius and Julia (Engen) Enghagen. During World War II, Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Army.
On November 9, 1946 he married Anna Irene Sveen in French Creek. He farmed his entire life. Kenneth was a member of French Creek Lutheran Church, rural Ettrick, Runnestrand-Pederson American Legion Post #354 of Ettrick, and the Gale-Ettrick V.F.W. Post #11156.
Survivors are his wife of Blair; 2 sons, Robert of Madison, Wis., Barry of Ettrick; 3 daughters, Ione (John) Dykstra of Galesville, Wis., Carol (Warren) Krantz of Prospect Heights, Ill., Linda Enghagen of Northampton, Ma; 5 grandchildren; 2 grt. grandchildren; and a brother Ivan of Galesville.
A sister Helen preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2000 in French Creek Lutheran Church with Rev. Marlene Pankonin officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Friday from noon until services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to French Creek Lutheran Church Foundation.

Gerald A. Enters
Gerald A. Enters, 64, of Trempealeau, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.
He was born Feb. 19, 1934, to Robert and Mildred (Pardoum) Enters in Milwaukee, Wis. He served in the Military from Nov. 1953 through Nov. 1955. He was employed by Fenske Radiator for many years.
On July 31, 1986 he married Helen Jessessky in Milwaukee, Wis.
Gerald is survived by his wife Helen; 2 brothers, Tom (Diane) Enters of Menomonie Falls, Wis., Ray (Rita) Enters of Brookfield, Wis.; 3 sisters-in-law, Betty (Peter) Knepper, Margaret Severson and Mary Simerson, all of Trempealeau; 10 nephews and 8 nieces and special friends. Jerry made everyones life a little brighter.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 1999, at St. Bartholomews Catholic Church in Trempealeau. Fr. Robert Wagner officiated. Burial with Military Honors was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Trempealeau.

Todd Erbe
Todd J. Erbe, 29, of Milwaukee, Wis. passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2000 after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in La Crosse, Wis. May 13, 1970 to Larry Erbe and Bonnie Maas.
He was employed at Christman Contractors Inc. until the time of his illness. Todd enjoyed fishing, cooking, and making sausage with his friends and family.
Surviving are his parents,
Larry (Carol) Erbe of Caledonia and Bonnie (Lloyd) Maas, Trempealeau; brothers Chris Erbe and Scott (Missy) Erbe; a sister Tammy Dick; step-sisters Annie Erbe and Amy Erbe. Grandson of Mabel Nakiewich and Harry and Evelyn Erbe and soulmate of Sharon. Also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Al Nakiewich.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 6th and Main, Trempealeau, Wis. on Saturday, January 15, 2000 at 3 p.m. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

Sarah E. Frisby
Sarah E. Frisby, 19, of Galesville, died Monday, January 18, 1999 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born September 7, 1979 in Winona, Minn. to Don and Sally (Sievers) Frisby. She was a graduate of Winona Cotter High School and had attended Winona State University. Currently she was employed by Happy Chef Restaurant in Winona.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Galesville. Sarah loved to sing and dance. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed Shakespeare and the theater. She wrote poetry and enjoyed charcoal sketching. Sarah also enjoyed movies of the 30's and 40's, gardening, and floral arranging. She traveled and camped across our country with her family. Her smile and laughter will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Survivors are her parents of Galesville; 3 sisters, Dain (Randy) Dart of Antioch, Calif., Ianna Frisby of Sacramento, Calif., Rachel Frisby, at home;
2 brothers David Frisby and Michael Frisby, both at home; paternal grandparents Ronald and Valora Frisby of Rushford, Minn; maternal grandparents Lester and Elizabeth Sievers of Winona, Minn; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 22, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Galesville, with Fr. Robert Wagner officiating. Spring burial in Pine Cliff Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday, January 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a liturgical vigil at 8 p.m.
Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville, is assisting with arrangements.

Alverna M. Gueltzow
Alverna M. Gueltzow, age 78, of Whitehall, Wis., died on Thursday, January 6, 2000 in the Regions Hospital in Saint Paul, Minn.
Alverna was born on February 18, 1921 in the town of Pigeon, Trempealeau County, Wis. to Albert and Amelia (Hertzfeldt) Moen. She married Elmer Gueltzow who preceded her in death on December 20, 1968.
Alverna was employed as a cook in Eleva at the Diamond Dipper. She later worked as a cook at the Floyd and Evelyn Dahl Rest Home, the A&W Restaurant and GenoÕs Restaurant, all in Whitehall, prior to her retirement.
Mrs. Gueltzow is survived by a son, Robert Gueltzow of Whitehall; a daughter, Mary Ann (John) Brophy of Galesville; four grandchildren; Katherine (Ricky) Pecha of Stanley; Kenneth (Shawn) Brophy, Crystal (Paul) Scott and Colleen (Karl) Schultz, all of Galesville; seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alverna was preceded in death by a son, Ken; a daughter, Janice DeGraff; a granddaughter, Debbie Brophy and a half-brother, Orville Knutson.
Funeral services were Monday, January 10, 2000 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasantville. Rev. Harvey Pedersen officiated. Burial was in the Bruce Valley Cemetery in the town of Hale.

Elda Marie Alexander
Elda Marie Alexander, age 59, of La Crosse died unexpectedly and went to live with Our Lord on July 10, 2000 surrounded by her family and friends at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. Elda was born on February 15, 1941 in Galesville to Gerald and Selma (Husmoen) Berg. Elda married Morton Alexander on April 23, 1960.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 3 daughters, Tammy Alexander, Tory Alexander and Tracy Alexander, all of La Crosse; 3 sons, Troy (Laurie) Alexander, Tony Alexander and Terry (Ellen) Alexander, all of La Crosse; her mother, 2 sisters, Sonia (Lonnie) Manske of Holmen and Renee (Ralph) Solberg of Kasson, Minn; 2 brothers, Galen (Marleen) Berg of Ettrick and Larry (Sue) Berg of Bloomington, Indiana; 16 grandchildren and a daughter-in-law Peggy Alexander. She was preceded in death by her father. Elda was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for 15 years. She was active in many organizations while her children were growing up, such as Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and PTA. She loved arts and crafts and attended many craft shows. She was a member of the Sons of Norway Fagernus. Elda was an avid collector of dolls, Santas, carousel horses, mugs and steins. She also loved gardening, but most of all she loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The Reverend Julie Wollman will officiate and burial will be at a later date. Friends may call at the Sletten McKee Hanson Funeral Home on Thursday, July 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 6:45 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
