Virginia Taylor
Virginia May "Ginny" Taylor, 72, of Ripley died July 5, 2002.
She is survived by her mother, Velma Crihfield; her husband, Brady Taylor; five sisters, Mary, Elizabeth, Mildred, Lorheda and Roberta; five brothers, Sam, Bernard, Wayne, Ronald and Larry; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

James E. Branam
James E. "Jim" Branam, 60, of Vienna died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 6, 1942, in Camp, Ark., a son of the late James E. and Mary Newberry Branam. He was retired after 30 years of service from Ohio Valley College as manager of Powell Apartments and was a member of the Belpre Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.

Paul Feldmeier Sr.
Paul Francis Feldmeier Sr., 91, of South 4th Avenue, Paden City, W.Va., died July 4, 2002, at his residence.
Paul was born Jan. 25, 1911, in Paden City, a son of the late Robert S. and Anna Zisterer Feldmeier. He was a salesman for Realsilk Company and a former employee of Lawrence Glass Novelty of Sistersville. In 1935 he began his career with the Paul Wissmach Glass Company of Paden City where he became plant manager in 1947 and later served as secretary and treasurer of the company. Upon his retirement from Wissmach Glass on 1976, he continued as an advisor and officer of the company. He was a member of the Stained Glass Association of America, the American Ceramic Society for over 50 years and the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church of Paden City.

Alfred K. Hays
Alfred K. Hays, 87, formerly of Parkersburg, died July 4, 2002, in Rockville, Md.

Victoria Hives
Victoria Hives, 78, of Mineral Wells died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at the residence of her caregiver.
Arrangements pending at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

L. Elizabeth McLain
L. Elizabeth McLain, 83, of Parkersburg, died July 4, 2002.
She is survived by her caregivers, Jerome and Josephine Fetch of Parkersburg; and one uncle, Charles W. Anderson of Marietta.

Janet R. Roberts
Janet R. Roberts, 47, of Parkersburg died at St. Joseph's Hospital Wednesday, July 3, 2002, following a long illness.
She was born Dec. 2, 1954, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Raymond W. and Pauline P. Gordon Thorn. She was a wife and mother.

Ralph Earl Smith
ELIZABETH - Wirt County's first state conservation officer, Mr. Ralph Earl Smith, 82, of Mineral Wells passed away Sunday morning, July 7, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Smith was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Roanoke, Lewis County, W.Va., a son of the late John Jackson and Mary Luverne Weaver Smith. He was the first state conservation officer in Wirt County having retired in 1980 as sergeant from the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources with more than 32 years of service with more than 23 years dedicated to service in Wirt and Wood counties. He was a graduate of the West Virginia State Police Academy and served as a U.S. Deputy Game Warden with the U.S. Department of the Interior. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served with the 135th ordinance maintenance battalion of the 13th armory division and was past commander of American Legion Post 55 of Elizabeth. He was past master of Wirt Lodge 82 AF & AM and a 38 year member of the Scottish Rite of Parkersburg. He was a member of the Wirt Chapter 113, Order of the Eastern Star and United Methodist by faith.

Emily Carter
Emily Evelyn Carter, 74, of Marietta, died Sept. 4, 2002, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Marie Carter, Marietta; sisters, Juanita Jefferson, Maryland, Eva Carter, Marietta, and Esther Jones and her husband, Regis, Parkersburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elaine S. Frum
Elaine Sweeney Frum, 84, of the Parkersburg and Waverly area, passed away Sept. 4, 2002, at the SEM-HAVEN Nursing Home at Milford, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 30, 1918, at Waverly, a daughter of the late Homer Clarence and Bessie Virginia Garrison Sweeney. Mrs. Frum had attended the Waverly United Methodist Church and had worked as a nursing assistant at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Palmer C. Hamlet
Palmer C. Hamlet, 93, of Sistersville died Sept. 5, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Una Hill Hamlet; two step-sons, Donald Teague and Dennis Kindziera; two step-daughters, Geraldine Schulert and Sandra Sangster; five step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Argel I. Hinzman
Argel I. Hinzman, 79, of Orangeburg, S.C., died Sept. 3, 2002.

Mendy D. Hodges
Mendy Dawn Hodges, 27, of Fairplain, beloved wife of Brandon Lee Hodges and beloved daughter of James "Shorty" and Linda Easter of Ripley, died Sept. 4, 2002, at CAMC General Division after a short illness.
Mendy was a 1993 graduate of Ripley High School and was employed by Pomeroy Computer Resources of Dunbar. She and Brandon had been married two months.

Kenna M. Lipps
Kenna M. Lipps, 85, of Ritchie Street, Buckhannon, W.Va., formerly of French Creek, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
He was born Sept. 7, 1916 in Bonnie, W.Va., a son of the late Walter Lee and Lillie Mae Singleton Lipps.

George McCune
George McCune, 47, of Belmont died Sept. 4, 2002.
He is survived by one daughter, Ashleigh; one son, Christopher; two sisters, Rebecca Daniel and Sarah Starr; and three brothers, Wes McCune, Larry McCune and Jim McCune.

Deloris Bailey
Deloris Emogene Bailey, 74, of Parkersburg died Sept. 3, 2002, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Wood County, the daughter of the late Harry O. and Lottie Mae Harper Feick. She was a former manager for the Jet Store in Parkersburg. She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church.

Luella M. Beale
Luella M. Beale, 82, of Texas and formerly of Marietta, died Tuesday in Texas.
She lived in Marietta from 1957 to 2001 and taught for Marietta City Schools from 1957 to 1983. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanetta Pyle and Gladys Weinstock; and one son, Howard Beale III.

Hubert C. Brown
Hubert Cecil Brown, 84, of Abbeville, Ala., died Sept. 3, 2002.
He is survived by his wife Marguerite; three sons, Paul, Donald and Ronald; one sister, Freda Schaad; two brothers, Robert and Jack; five grandchildren; one step grandson; one great-grandson; and one step great-grandson.
