Tina Mae Chipps
Tina Mae "Grandma Cookie" Chipps, 88, of Morgantown, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at home. She was born July 26, 1913, in Hemlock, daughter of the late David and Rhoda Currence Crosby. She held various positions at Vincent Pallotti and Monongalia General hospitals for 38 years. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church. She loved flowers and her cats. She is survived by a daughter, Deloris Shaffer, of Pursglove; four sons, Arlie Chipps, of Morgantown, Harold Chipps, of Dimondale, Minn., Delmas Chipps, of Brandywine, Md., and Ronald Chipps, of Warrenton, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Chipps; a daughter, Eleanor Bolyard; a son, Calvin Chipps; six brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren, Todd and Sally Chipps. Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, with the Rev. Frederic McAllister officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Harvey Wise Larrick Jr.
Harvey Wise Larrick Jr., 82, of Grafton, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001. He was born Feb. 5, 1919, in Washington, D.C., son of the late Harvey Wise and Myrtle Murray Larrick. He was a conductor on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, retiring after 37 years of service. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 15 A.F.&A.M. in Grafton, a member of the Taylor County Shrine Club, the Central West Virginia Shrine Club, the Osiris Temp le of Wheeling, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of Clarksburg and Wheeling, the United Transportation Union and Grafton Elks Lodge 308. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Blanche Collier Larrick; a daughter, Suzanne Holaday, of Grafton; a brother and spouse, George Murray and Loretta Larrick, of Ellicott City, Md.; a granddaughter, Heather Elizabeth Holaday, of Alexandria, Va. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Louise Frowert. Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home in Grafton from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, and at St. John's United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, until the 11 a.m. service, with the Rev. H. Edgar Suite officiating. Burial will be in Woodsdale Memorial Park. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Grafton Masonic Lodge.

Austin B. Himes
Austin B. Himes, 74, of South Park, Morgantown, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Friends may call at Spruce Street United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, until the 11 a.m. service with the Rev. Dr. Roger L. Smith officiating. Irene Pearl Myers
Irene Pearl Myers, 92, of Ravenna, Ohio, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at home. She was born April 28, 1909, in Wheeler, daughter of the late Ezra and Myra Lowery Fike. She lived in Akron, Ohio, for 40 years before moving to Ravenna one year ago. She was a member of the Rock of Ages Church in Cuyahoga Falls and the American Legion Post 611 of Akron and the Ravenna Moose Chapter 540. She is survived by three grandchildren, Judy Hanna, of Ravenna, and Barbara Hanzel and Debbie Brown, both of Akron; 11 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leona Gall, of Florida. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis "Jerry" Myers; and a daughter, Aileen Donaldson. Friends may call at Arnettsville Methodist Church, Arnettsville, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday, Oct. 30. Burial will be in Arnettsville Cemetery. Cloyd H. Eichelberger
Cloyd H. "Ike" Eichelberger, 79, of Point Marion, Pa., died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Sundale Nursing Home. He was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Wellsburg, son of the late Charles and Pauline Brennan Eichelberger. He was a member of the Point Marion Apostolic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 747 in Point Marion and the UMWA. He was a truck driver, steel worker, worked on riverboats and retired from the coal mines. He was well-known in the Point Marion area for his love of gospel and country-western music and often played his guitar in church and with local friends. He is survived by his wife, Marie Woody Eichelberger, of Granville; five children and spouses, JoAnn and James Cottrell, Cloyd "Butch" and Merry Jo Eichelberger, Ada and John Miller, and Charles "Bucky" and Cindy Eichelberger, all of Point Marion; and Judy and Rich Robinson, of Dilliner; two stepchildren, Samantha McIe, of Greenville, and Wade Lynch, of Georgia; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta and Lowella; and two brothers, Leo and Junior Eichelberger. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Brooks Eichelberger; five brothers, Joe, Clifford "Tip," Glen, Mike and Edward Eichelberger; and two sisters, Lucy and Martha. Edith Virginia Kimmell
Edith Virginia Kimmell, 87, of Terra Alta, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Preston Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 13, 1914, in Albright, daughter of the late Boyd Wolfe and Ora F. Stanton Wolfe Feather. She was a retired cook. She lived in Terra Alta for 50 years and was Protestant. She is survived by a nephew, Clarence Wade Feather, of Terra Alta; a niece, Linda Friend, of Corinth; a great-nephew, Michael Friend; four great-nieces, Nicole and Shannon Friend, and Crystal and Valerie Feather. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Gray Kimmell and a half-brother, Wade Feather. Friends may call at Browning Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, with the Rev. Berlin Wilhelm officiating. Burial will follow in Terra Alta Cemetery.

Amber Dawn Merrill, 18, of Brookhaven, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in an automobile accident. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from noon Monday, Oct. 29, until the 1 p.m. service, with the Rev. Ed Rowan officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mount Morris, Pa.

Gerald Lee Calvert
Gerald Lee Calvert, 68, of Morgantown, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at home. A private service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Fred L. Jenkins Chapel of Prayer with Father Jude Mili officiating. Burial will be at the family's convenience.

Thomas Nolan
Thomas Nolan, 88, of Bethel Road, Morgantown, died Saturday, Oct. 27, at home. He was born Nov. 10, 1912, in Uniontown, Pa., son of the late John and Zita Nolan. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMW. He was a former Monongalia County constable, a justice of the peace, and the mayor of Osage. He was a member of the St. Ursula Roman Catholic Church, Pursglove, and later of St. Theresa/St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Morgantown. He is survived by two daughters and a spouse, Judith Wiles, of Granville, and Eleanor and James Edward Cummings, of Warren, Ohio; five grandchildren, Ricky Johnson, Ronald Stanley, Shanee Lindsay, Rene Cummings, and Patrick Cummings; six great-grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, Jamie Johnson, James L. Lindsay, Shawna Lindsay, David Lindsay Jr., and Breanna Cummings; and a great-great-grandchild, Trevor May. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Nolan, on Aug. 18, 2001; three brothers and four sisters. Betty L. Davis Kretoski
Betty L. Kretoski, 77, of Evart, Mich., formerly of Arthurdale, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at home. She was born April 10, 1924, in Jordan, daughter of the late James Davis and Neva DaVault. She was a graduate of Arthurdale High School, class of 1942. She moved to Evart from Arthurdale in 1998. She was a supportive Pastor and Evangelist's wife, traveling extensively throughout the United States for nearly 50 years. She attended Evart Bible Methodist Church. She is survived by three daughters and spouses, Betty Jo and George Vincent, of Fairmont, Carol and Ray Coxon, of Horton, Mich., and Victoria and Jeffrey Lemire, of Houston, Texas; a son and spouse, Joseph and Dawn Kretoski, of Evart, Mich.; a sister, Nancy J. Burnell Lynch, of Hobe Sound, Fla.; two brothers and a spouse, James Jr. and Polly Davis, of Reedsville, and Robert "Shark" Davis, of Arthurdale; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, whom she married on June 22, 1945, Joseph Kretowski Sr., on July 30, 1996; and a brother, Jack Davis. Jesse H. Rogers
Jesse H. Rogers, 94, of Grafton, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Alliance Personal Care Home of an extended illness. He was born Feb. 4, 1907, in Taylor County, son of the late Charles Luther and Elizabeth H. Moran Rogers. He was a U.S. Postal Service maintenance worker for 47 years and was a member of Blueville Nazarene Church. He is survived by a daughter and spouse, Phyllis and John "Jake" Breedlove of Grafton; a daughter-in-law, Judy Rogers of Bailey, N.C.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Grace Canfield Rogers, in 1985; a son, Robert Lewis Rogers, and six brothers, John, Henry, Dewey and Victor Rogers and two in infancy. Clyde W. Lowdermilk
Clyde Warren Lowdermilk, 79, of Munford, Tenn., died on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Covington Care Center, Covington, Tenn. He was a retired employee of the General Electric parts department. He retired after 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Frayser Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Fleet Reserve. He is survived by his wife, Mary Marguerite Curlin Lowdermilk; three daughters, Mary Ann Maddox, of Atoka, Tenn., and Libby Sheppard and Rosa Thomas, both of Munford; two sons, Clyde W. Lowdermilk Jr., of Bartlett, Tenn., and Dwight Lowdermilk, of Huntsville, Ala.; three sisters, Eleanor Taylor and Maxine Gibson, both of Masontown, and Ilene Livengood, of Fairchance, Pa.; four brothers, Robert Lowdermilk, of Fairchance, Ernest Lowdermilk and Wade "Buck" Lowdermilk, both of Masontown, and Richard Lowdermilk, of Oakwood, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Wilford Richards
Wilford Martin "Marty" Richards, 54, of Monongah, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001. He was born June 21, 1947, in Monongah, a son of the late John "Buck" and Nina Martin Richards. He was a coal miner for Consolidation Coal Co. for 23 years and a member of UMWA District 31. He was Baptist. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and working. He was co-owner/operator of Grove Cemetery, Monongah. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ruby Lee Fuller Richards; two sons and spouses, Martin Joseph and Sophia Richards, and Alan Ira and Amanda Richards, all of Monongah; a daughter and spouse, Kimberly and Jim Malcomb of Zellwood, Fla.; a brother and spouse, Vernon and Joyce Richards, of Monongah; three sisters and two spouses, Sharron and Mark Vincent and Karen Meffe, all of Monongah, and Ellen and Robert Ryan, of Fairmont; and four grandsons. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Butch Meffe. Friends may call at Frey Home for Funerals from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the 2 p.m. service Friday, Nov. 2, with the Rev. John Snyder officiating. Gertrude Hemmann
Gertrude Elizabeth Hemmann, 100, of Point Marion Road in Morgantown, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Monogalia General Hospital. She was born March 17, 1901, in Wheeling, daughter of the late William Gerhart and Caroline Thonen Bock. She was a homemaker, member of the Senior Citizens Group, and the oldest member of the Suncrest United Methodist Church Drummond Chapel. She was an avid bowler and bowled through her 99th year. She is survived by two daughters and spouses, Betty M. and Eugene DeBolt, of Mansfield, Ohio, and Joann and Robert Luitjens, of San Diego; two sons and spouses, Donald Carl and Gwen Hemmann, of Point Marion Road in Morgantown, and Wilbur and Judy Hemmann, of Lawless Road in Morgantown; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Hemmann, in 1979, a grandchild, a great-grandchild, a sister and four brothers. Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Service will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, with the Rev. Ronald McCauley officiating. William Earl Lewis
William Earl Lewis, 77, of Harrison Street, Westover, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at home. Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Christene Suchoski
Christene Morris Suchoski, 80, of Rockford, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, in Swedish American Hospital. She was born April 1, 1921, in Anniston, Ala., daughter of the late Steve Morris and Thelma V. Whitworth Morris. She moved to Rockford in 1958 from Osage. She cooked for many years at a number of restaurants in the Rockford area. In her latter years she most enjoyed working as a hostess at McDonald's. She spent many active years with St. Stanislaus Church, loved the Polish fest, and was a member of Roscoe VFW Post 2955 auxiliary. She is survived by her brother, Steve Morris; a son and spouse, Edward and Cathy Suchoski; two daughters and a spouse, Joyce Suchoski and Quentin Mueller, of Portland, Ore., and Linda Hamm, of Grant, Fla.; seven grandchildren and a spouse, Nicholas Edward, Michelle Marie, Tania Elizabeth and Andrew Pregl, Victoria Kristine Suchoski, Chris A., Wyatt Christopher, and Clare Anna Mueller. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Edward Suchoski, who died Jan. 10, 2001; five brothers, Andrew Morris, Pete Morris, Clark Morris, Leonznie Morris; a stepbrother, John Stoper; and her sister, Clo Jackula Edmond.
