Chad Dean Mullins, 39, of Beckley, WV formerly of Iaeger, went home to God’s play ground on Saturday May 24, 2014 in Lewis-Gayle Medical Center, Salem, VA. He was born April 11, 1975 in Welch, WV, a son of Ruth Shrader Bishop. He was preceded in death by his step- father Ollie Bishop and grandfather James Shrader. Left to cherish his memories are his loving mother Ruth Shrader Bishop; a sister Amanda Jenny Payne and husband Westley of North Carolina; two nephews Chase and Brandon Payne; many uncles, aunts, cousins and other loving family and friends. The family will meet at the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV for fifteen minutes of visitation on Tuesday May 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Procession to the Powell cemetery on Coon Branch Mountain will leave following the visitation and graveside services will be conducted at the cemetery by Bro. Raymond Shrader. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Eva Lynn Ritchie, 41, of New Richmond, WV went to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at her home. She was born January 10, 1973 a daughter of Tracey “Wayne” Toler of Sabine and the late Esther Ritchie. She was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her grandchildren. In addition to her mother she is preceded in death by her grandparents Claude and Evalenia Ritchie, and Earl and Peggy Toler; and several cousins. Those left to cherish her memory are her fiancé and best friend Paris Stewart of New Richmond; a daughter Cassandra Ritchie of Mullens and her children Addie and Shae, and her unborn “arriving any time” granddaughter Alexandria; a son Michael Browning of New Richmond; her father Tracey “Wayne” Toler of Sabine; two sisters Nicole Curry and her husband Donny and their two children Alexis and Jacob Curry, and Jessica Ritchie and her companion Jason Compton and their daughter Cadence; a brother Bradley Ritchie and his wife Carrie Ritchie of Josephine, and their two daughters Savannah and Kylie Ritchie; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; special friends Carlos and Christina Bishop, Christina Sizemore, Nick Morgan, and David Mitchem who were always special to her; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday June 2, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Rev. Darrell Stapleton, Bro. Cecil Thompson, and Sister Tanya Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest in Pine Grove cemetery, Ravencliff, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 AM on Monday until time of service at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. A special thank you to Carlos and Christina Bishop. Bessie Lee Moore, 80, of Oceana, WV passed away on Thursday May 29, 2014 at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. She was born June 7, 1933 in Martin County, KY, a daughter of the late Lucian and Callie Blankenship Moore. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Freddy Moore, several brothers and sisters and a son-in-law Jack Price. She was a homemaker and loving wife and mother. Survivors include two daughters Freda Price of Oceana and Melissa and Larry Campbell of Bandon, OR; four sons Garry and Gloria Moore of Wardensville, David and Carolyn Moore of Bolt, Teddy and Debra Moore of Fairdale, and Barry E. and Laura Moore of West Newton, PA; a sister Jean Moore of Hazard, KY; eleven grandchildren: three great grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday May 31, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Randall Pugh Pastor of Bolt Church of God officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 AM on Saturday May 31, 2014 until time of service at the funeral home. James Edward Dunn, 92, of Clear Fork, WV, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014. Mr. Dunn was born September 13, 1921, in Capels, WV, son of the late Anna (Barnett) and David Dunn. Mr. Dunn worked as a Tipple Engineer at the New River & Pocahontas Coal Co. in Capels, WV, when he enlisted in the United States Army on September 12, 1942, and was assigned to the 697th Engineer Petroleum Distribution Co. on April 28, 1943, He was mobilized for service outside the United States, destined for the European African Theater. He served with honor in Patton’s Army and in Foggia–Naples, Southern France, Rome-Arno, Central Europe, and the Rhineland. He was a marksman. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and 1 Bronze Arrowhead in addition to the Good Conduct Medal. Demobilized on December 15, 1944, he returned to the coal mine in Lynco, WV, where he worked until a near-fatal accident sent him to the hospital for a year, after which he was forced to retire. Mr. Dunn became a successful farmer who enjoyed trout fishing, gardening, horse shoes, softball, country music, and hummingbirds. He was an avid wrestling fan. Mr. Dunn is survived by his long- time companion, Norma Jean Wells; daughter Linda (John) McWebb of Tucson, AZ, and step-daughter Elizabeth (Bette) Adams of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren James, John, Elizabeth, Jocelyn and Kimberly; 10 great grandchildren; nephews Ray and Dewayne Belcher; sister Grace Cook; brothers Tom and Billy; extended family members and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Belcher, who passed away in 1997; sisters Lena Holbrook, Juanita Belcher, and Sylvia Fisher; brothers Burl, Bill and Jerry. The family of James Edward Dunn wishes to thank him for his service to his country, his love and loyalty, and his many friends for their remembrances and condolences. A special thank you to Bonita (Wells) Bradford and son Franklin (Frankie) Bradford for their devotion. Mr. Dunn was a member of the “Greatest Generation” who now deserves his well-earned eternal rest. Godspeed, Good Soldier. Theresa Marie Sizemore, 50, of Oceana, WV, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014 in Cyclone, WV. She was born October 22, 1963 in Welch, WV, a daughter of Sally Marie Lyons Cox, and the late Thomas Henry Cox, Sr. Theresa was a 1983 graduate of Baileysville High School. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by a brother Toby Hale Cox; her grandfather Graydon Lyons; and two uncles Kenneth Lyons and Bobby Cox. Survivors include two daughters Jessica Nichole Sizemore of Kopperston, and Sally Louise Sizemore of Cyclone; three grandchildren David Jamal Crawford, Elijah Lamyr Crawford, and Shanya Nichole Crawford; grandmother Garnett Lyons of Clear Fork; two brothers Thomas Henry Cox, Jr. and his wife Victoria of Baileysville, and Tody Hale Cox of Baileysville; and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with Theresa’s wishes she will be cremated and there will be no public service. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Michael Kelley Byrom, 42, of Dunbar, WV, formerly of Huntington, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2014 in Huntington, WV. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Janet Sue Walls, 60, of Oceana, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a 16 year battle with Cancer on Monday, June 23, 2014. She was born on February 2, 1954 in Norton, VA, a daughter of Herbert Linkous of Kopperston, and the late Betty Addington Linkous. Janet was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and a 1972 graduate of Oceana High School. She is preceded in death by her mother Betty Addington Linkous. Sue was married to the love of her life for 43 ½ years, was an avid reader who enjoyed spending her time with family and friends. She drew inspiration from her family’s love, particularly her eleven grandchildren, who were the source of her strength and perseverance to push to value and enjoy God’s gift of life. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Clifton Lee “CL” Walls; two daughters Melissa (Michael) Cochran of Fan Rock and their children Brandon, Justin, Britney and Sydney, and Erica (Tony) Hill of Fairdale and their children Ethan, Matthew, McKinlea and Eli; a son Patrick (Kelly) Walls of Matheny and their children Kelsey, Kasey and Tanner; three sisters Mary Catherine (Billy) Brooks of Kopperston, Karen Lynn (John) Rodgers of Teays Valley, and Angela Carol Linkous and fiancé Chuck Hollingsworth of Roanoke, VA; a brother Michael Lee Linkous of Teays Valley; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday June 26, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Bro. James Milam officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from noon until time of service on Thursday June 26, 2014 at the funeral home. Pearl Ann Steele, 66, of Beckley, WV, formerly of Brenton, WV, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 in Appalachian Regional Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born March 2, 1948 in Pineville, WV a daughter of the late Robert Stacy and Mary Belle Mullens Lusk. Pearl worked as manager for many years at the Super America in Pineville. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son Mark Anthony Steele; two sisters Gladys Morgan, and Arbutus Mullens and a brother-in-law Sherman Morgan. Survivors include her daughter Mary Ann (Shawn) Belcher of Clear Fork; a son James Paul (Heather Graham) Steele of Ruston, WA; two sisters Opal Warren of Martinsburg, and Betty (Jimmy) Smith of Crab Orchard; six brothers Boyd (Glenna) Lusk of Matheny, Coy (Connie) Lusk of Glen Fork, Ralph (Alice) Lusk of Princeton, Albert (Linda) Lusk of Matheny, Robert (Melissa) Lusk of Coal Mountain, and Dale (Sandy) Lusk of Bolt; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday June 25, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Bishop Randy Bowles officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 AM until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Rema Sue Walls Roach, 65, of Oceana, WV, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday June 24, 2014 in Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV. She was born September 29, 1948 in Cyclone, WV a daughter of the late William Lee and Wealtha Jane Toler Walls. Rema was a member of the Lacoma Baptist Church and a 1966 graduate of Oceana High School. She was a registered nurse having worked at the Oceana Medical Center, OH-9 Home Health and Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. In addition to her parents, Rema was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Samuel and Ida Cook Walls; maternal grandparents George and Rosie Perry Toler; two brothers Norman Gene Walls and Billy Lee Walls; and a sister Hazel Faye Walls Adkins. She enjoyed taking care of her pets and spending time with her five grandchildren. Those left to cherish Rema’s memory include her loving husband of 41 years John Franklin Roach; her two daughters Robin Eileen Parsons and husband Isaac of Crab Orchard and Amanda Renee Lane and husband Timothy of Lewisburg; five grandchildren John Isaac and Jacob Parsons, Gavin, Autumn and Ethan Lane; a brother Donald Paul Walls of Cyclone; three sisters Mary Lou Phillips and husband Daniel, Betty Ann Dean and husband Eugene and Anita Jo Brooks and husband Scott all of Cyclone; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rema always made visitors feel welcomed in her home. She will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday June 27, 2014 at the Lacoma Baptist Church, Lacoma, WV with Rev. Terlizzi officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 AM until time of service on Friday June 27, 2014 at the church. Anthony Neely “Andy” Tilley, 39, of Beckley, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday June 25, 2014 in Beckley, WV. He was born September 12, 1974 in Beckley, WV, a son of William E. “Bill” and Lillian Stafford Tilley. He is also the grandson of Kenneth Stafford of Kopperston. He is preceded in death by his grandmothers Erma Arthur Stafford, and Lillie Rollins; a brother Jonathan Tilley; a cousin Crystal Hall; and an uncle Randall Stafford. Andy was a 1993 graduate of Liberty High School. Those left to cherish his memory are his parents William E. (Bill) Tilley and Lillian Stafford Tilley of Eccles; a sister Suzanne Tilley and her son William L. “Bubba” Tilley of Beckley; two aunts Marsha and Tom Sparks of Oceana, and Sandra and Mitch Solacz of Prosperity; his children Jenny Lee Tilley, Anthony “AJ” Tilley, Jr, Olivia Tilley, Nathaniel Tilley, Sebastian Tilley, Elena “Bug” Tilley, and Adalynn “Addie” Tilley all of Beckley; and a host of other loving family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday June 30, 2014 in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV with Pastor Gregg Lanham officiating. Prayers appreciated and flowers not necessary. Danny Charles Hedrick, 64, of Clear Fork, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday June 26, 2014 in Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV. He was born August 16, 1949 in Tamcliff, WV, a son of the late John Lloyd and Gladys Brooks Hedrick. Danny was a United States Marine Vietnam Veteran, he was an ordained minister at the Clear Fork Independent Church of God, and loved the Lord with all his heart. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers Jerry Hedrick and Roger Hedrick; two sisters Norma Jean Mounts, and Margaret “Tiny” Walls; and mother-in-law Martha Hutchinson. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years Gail Toler Hedrick of Clear Fork; a daughter Denise Lynn Hedrick and Frank Chirico of Huddy, KY; a granddaughter Arianna Starr Hedrick of Huddy KY; a brother Jack and Shirley Hedrick of Oceana; a sister-in-law Donna Faye Hedrick of Pineville; a brother-in-law Mick Walls of Clear Fork; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday July 2, 2014, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Rev. Hannibal Blankenship, Jr. officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6-9:00 PM on Tuesday July 1, 2014, at the funeral home. Sylvia Harriett Smith, 96, of McGraws, WV joined our Lord in heaven from the home of her son, Larry and daughter-in-law Pat on Saturday July 5, 2014 following a short illness. She was born September 27, 1918 at home in Peach Tree, WV a daughter of the late Martha Pinky Webb and Quilly Lee Pettry. Sylvia worked and retired from Twin Falls State Park, where she held the head housekeeper position for 25 years. She loved bingo and always wore a smile, but is best remembered for loving her family including those by blood and those made of the heart. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Kenner Smith, life long companion Robert “Bob” Moye, a daughter Ella Mae Howard, three sons Everett, Jake and James Smith, three brothers Bob, Jim and Posey Pettry. Those left to cherish her memory are her son Larry and Pat Smith of McGraws; daughter Daisy Bailey of Glen Daniels; a son-in-law Bobby Blankenship of Pineville; grandson Larry and Gail Howard of McGraws; granddaughter “Lil” Sylvia and Thad Mosley of Pineville; daughter Hazel and Mac Tilley of McGraws; life long friend Odell Webb of Pineville; sisters Virgie and Claude Brown of Glen Daniels, Charity and Jimmy Clay, Birdie and Kenner Gunnoe and Dora and Forest Cole all of Cleveland, OH; brother Quincy Pettry of Glen Daniels; thirty-three grandchildren and countless great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday July 9, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco with Rev. Ernest Francis officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Pauley Hills cemetery at Peach Tree near Naoma, WV. Friends may gather with the family from noon until service time at the funeral home on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family wants to give special thanks to the nurses at Raleigh General on Four South, especially Tammy, Crystal, Jenn, Jody and Marilyn, also to Hospice especially Casey. We are so grateful for the care you gave Sylvia. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
