ATHENS -- Funeral for Maggie L. Stewart, 73, of Athens will be Monday at noon at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Damon Betts officiating.
Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stewart died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Athens to Willie Stanley and Martha Horton Stanley. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Wilbert Stanley and Douglas Stewart, both of Athens, and Joseph Stewart of Huntsville; four daughters, Martha Stanley, Romana Stanley, Loretta Sanderfer and Teresa Allen, all of Athens; one brother, Guy Horton of Athens; one sister, Razzie Horton of Athens; and her mother of Athens.
Joseph Darrell Bright
NASHVILLE -- Graveside service for Joseph Darrell Bright, 74, of Nashville will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Archie Hampton officiating and Woodlawn Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Bright died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville. He was born Dec. 12, 1926, in Mathis, W. Va., to Joseph and Juanita Bright. He was a graduate of Carson-Newman College and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked with the Alabama Veterans Administration.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Reeves Bright of Nashville; one daughter, Elaine Bright of Nashville; and one sister, Elwanda McClain of St. Louis, Mo.
Robert Dilone Burnett
Funeral for Robert Dilone Burnett, 62, of Decatur will be today at 4 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. David Rollins officiating.
Burial will be later in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Burnett died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in Huntsville Hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1939, in Baileyton to Lewis Burnett and Carol Dean Bell Burnett. He was a training and warehouse supervisor for 3M for 40 years until he retired last May.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Burnett; two daughters, Tracie Burnett of Louisville, and Colette Burnett of Cullman; one stepdaughter, Viva Teal of Decatur; one stepson, Geno Teal of Decatur; three sisters, Elaine Eddleman of Eva, Louise Means of Nashville; two brothers, Don Burnett of Pensacola, Fla., and Richard Burnett of Baileyton.

Shirley White Franklin
ARDMORE -- Funeral for Shirley White Franklin, 64, of Ardmore will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with Lynn Marshall and Roy Stonecypher officiating.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Franklin died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Jan. 19, 1937, in Giles County, Tenn. to Mahlon and Grace Higgins White. She was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Franklin; two daughters, Paula Raby of Toney and Janet Barron of Ardmore; two sisters, Carolyn Robertson of Pulaski, Tenn., and Charlotte Harwell of Bunker Hill, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ben Raby, Cody Barron, Bill Hall, Hollis Grantland, Ray Taft and Wayne Whitt.
Wyndel Fretwell
MILTON, Fla. -- Funeral for Wyndel Fretwell, 67, of Milton, Fla., will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bible Way Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Wright officiating.
Burial will be in Memory Park with Donnie Sowell Funeral Home of Milton directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Fretwell died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at his home. He was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Moulton to Lonnie Thomas and Bertha Fretwell. He was a 24-year associate with Elmore Truck Repair and attended Bible Way Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Fretwell; two sons, Andy Fretwell and Sean Fretwell, both of Milton; five daughters, Loretta Hutchinson of Georgia, and Debbie Sasse, Juanita Day, Rosa Mason-Watson and Veronica Fretwell, all of Milton; one sister, Julia Fretwell Wimberley of Moulton; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be William Howard III, Justin Howard, Cody Sasse, Joseph Fretwell, Robert Fretwell, Michael Fretwell and Wyndel Keith Thompson.
Jack Carter O'Conner II
ATHENS -- Graveside service for Jack Carter O'Conner II, 49, of Athens will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Terry Jackson officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. O'Conner died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham. He was born April 30, 1952, in Athens to Jack and Aline O'Conner.
He served as a sergeant in the Army during Vietnam.
Survivors include one son, Clint O'Conner of Elkmont; and four sisters, Dorothy Gooch of Dublin, Va., Mary Corum of Athens, Carol Ann Barksdale of Huntsville and June Fletcher of Decatur.
Shirley McElroy Barnes
MOULTON -- Funeral for Shirley McElroy Barnes, 54, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Fuller and the Rev. Wayne Parker officiating.
Burial will be in Providence Cemetery in Town Creek. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Ms. Barnes died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at her home. She was born March 27, 1947, in Lawrence County, to Russell Parker and Elsie Roden Parker. She was a machine operator with Cerro Wire and was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church. She was the widow of her first husband, Jimmy McElroy.
Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Cason of Speake, Pam Chandler of Houston and Shannon Randolph of Russellville; her mother, of Moulton; two brothers, Wayne Parker of Houston and Mack Parker of Hatton; four sisters, Glynice Widner of Somerville, Syble Hood and Jackie McElroy, both of Hatton, and Shelby Cameron of Moulton; and six grandchildren.
Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.
Dora S. Childers
CULLMAN -- Funeral for Dora S. Childers, 86, of Falkville was Friday at 2 p.m. at Eva Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Robinson and the Rev. Billy Mosteller officiating.
Burial was in Lawrence Cove Cemetery in Morgan County with Moss Service Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Childers died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at her home. She was born Sept. 27, 1915, in Morgan County to Noah Stincel and Ola Pricket Stincel. She was a retired nurse. She was the widow of Aldridge Childers and the mother of the late Alvin Childers and the late Martha Frost.
Survivors include one son, Burl Childers of Eva; five daughters, Judy Arrington of Hartselle, Carol Sue Johnson of Huntsville, Charlotte Hall of Oden Ridge, and Delores Haygood and Bonnie Roper, both of Decatur; 18 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Toby Sellers, Greg French, Wesley Rusk, Shawn Jones, Phillip Frost and Matthew Frost.
William Homer Lauderdale
ATHENS -- Funeral for William Homer Lauderdale, 78, of Athens will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Aaron Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Dement Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Lauderdale died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born April 22, 1923, in Limestone County to Richard and Anna Lauderdale. He was a retired painting contractor and a member of First Baptist Church of Athens.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Lauderdale; three sons, Richard Lauderdale, Stan Lauderdale and Dale Lauderdale, all of Athens; one daughter, Carolyne George of Athens; three brothers, Howard Lauderdale of Florence, Robert Lauderdale of Elkmont and Donald Lauderdale of Athens; three sisters, Ruby Dorning of Odenville, Robbie Gorzia and Ruth Webb, both of Athens; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stan Lauderdale, Richard Lauderdale, Dale Lauderdale, Adam Lauderdale, Grant Lauderdale and Nicholas Case.
Earl Eugene Marbut
ATHENS -- Funeral for Earl Eugene Marbut, 81, of Athens will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Dunn and the Rev. Marcus Long officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Marbut died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Limestone County to Thomas Emmitt Marbut and Frances Bridgeford Marbut. He was a mail carrier for 25 years and served in the military for 11 years. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Isom's Chapel United Methodist Church and Limestone Cattleman's Association.
Survivors include his wife, Musia Marbut; two sons, Earl W. Marbut of Alpharetta, Ga., and Robert A. Marbut of Athens; one daughter, Sarah Frances Marbut of Athens; and one grandson.
Memorials may be made to the Isom's Chapel United Methodist Church building fund.
Billy F. Moore
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Billy F. Moore, 70, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger White officiating.
Burial will be in Etha Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Moore died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born May 31, 1931, in Morgan County to Olen Moore and Lillie Lucille Clemons Moore. He was a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a hydraulic mechanic from a NASA contractor.
Survivors include one son, Tommy F. Moore of Hartselle; one daughter, Cecilia Madry of Decatur; two brothers, Olen Moore Jr. of Hartselle and Jimmy F. Moore of Vinemont; one sister, Marguareas Beebout of Columbus, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
William Frank 'Bill' Myers
MONTGOMERY -- Funeral for William Frank "Bill" Myers, 70, of Montgomery was to be today at 11 a.m. at Perry Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Spencer Turnipseed and the Rev. Don Osgood officiating.
A graveside service was to be at 2 p.m. at Helicon Cemetery in Crenshaw County with the Rev. Jim Reese officiating and Leak Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Myers died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in DeWitt, Ark. He was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Bradleyton to William Oliver Meyers and Annie Jordan Myers. He graduated from Troy State University, where he played football and baseball. He later played semi-pro baseball, taught and coached. He retired as a manager with Sherwin Williams Paint Co. after 37 years. He served as a lay delegate for Perry Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Myra Moseley Myers; three sons, W. Donald Myers of Birmingham, Jeff Myers of Monroeville and Jerry Myers of Opelika; three daughters, Kaye Myers Walraven of Decatur, Beth Myers Tuley of LaGrange, Ga., and Jan Myers Green e of Columbus, Ga.; one sister, Grace Wingard of Bradleyton; and 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be Jim Wingard, Ronnie Lansdon, Bryan Myers, Eddie Lansdon, Leo Pritchett, Joe Mason and Joey Cox.

Vivian Pair

Mrs. Pair died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at HealthSouth Hospital. She was born Jan. 4, 1911, in Georgia to Egbert Aldridge and Nettie Walburn Aldridge. She was a member of Center Point Christian Church, Daughters of the Confederacy and Spanish-American War Auxiliary. She was the mother of the late Robert M. Pair Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Joeanne LaCorte of Huntsville and Roberta McCulloch of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
