Funeral for Janelle Louise Gooch McAllister, 50, of Huntsville, will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with the Rev. Phil O'Kennedy officiating.

Burial will be Huntsville Memory Gardens with Laughlin Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McAllister died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1949, in Huntsville to Brownie Rueben Gooch and Frances Brocato Gooch. She managed her own business, dealing with corporate apartment furnishings.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph Hobbs and Dexter McAllister, both of Manchester, Tenn.; one brother, Brownie F. Gooch of Huntsville; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Pujol of Decatur, and Jo Ann Danner and Constance Hornbuckle, both of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.

Johnnie Pruitt Ward
72, NASA retiree

Memorial service for Johnnie Pruitt Ward, 72, of Decatur was today at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Mark Tolbert officiating.

Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Ward died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at home. He was born July 25, 1927, in Morgan County to Arley and James Monroe Ward. A member of Central Baptist Church, he retired from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and World War II. He was the father of the late Johnna Ward Summerford.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Nesmith Ward; one daughter, Tammy Ward Hoffman of Decatur; and two brothers, Harlon Ward and Billy Ward, both of Hartselle.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35601.

Lottie Pearl Byars
88, homemaker
Funeral for Lottie Pearl Byars, 88, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. W.K. Stephenson officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Byars died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Sept. 7, 1911, in Morgan County. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Calvin Byars of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one daughter, Ruth Tyler of Pinellas Park, Fla.; one sister, Vera Vinson of Falkville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rick Dillard, Bob Byars, Ted Cartee, Jerry Johnson, Randy Byars and Curtis Vinson.

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for Clara Mason Stanford Clem, 92, of Athens, who died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, will be announced by Spry Funeral Home.

James Countis Jackson
81, retired farmer

ATHENS -- Funeral for James Countis Jackson, 81, of Rogersville was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Jimmy Grisham officiating.

Burial was to be in Wallace Cemetery in Rogersville.

Mr. Jackson died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence. He was born June 26, 1918, in Lauderdale County. He was a retired farmer and a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Jackson; five sons, James Jackson of Stevenson, Robert Earl Jackson of Smyrna, Tenn., Doyce "Buck" Jackson of Greenville, N.C., and Turner Jackson and Lynn Jackson, both of Rogersville; four daughters, Annette Davis of Athens, Virginia Irene McKelvey of Rogersville, Deborah Elaine Thompson of Center Star and Corrine White of Decatur; one stepson, Danny Fincher of Toney; two stepdaughters, Shirley Emery of Tampa, Fla., and Susan Kay Whitfield of Deatsville; one brother, W.T. "Junior" Jackson of Rogersville; one sister, Nadean Waddell of Rogersville; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons were to be pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements for Clarice Mangrum, 57, of Decatur, who died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital, will be announced by Sharpley Funeral Home.

Earnest McClain Jr.
62, pipe fitter

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Earnest McClain Jr., 62, of Danville will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Joe Gable officiating.

Burial will be in Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. McClain died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital. He was born July 5, 1937, in Lawrence County, Tenn., to Earnest McClain Sr. and Effie Lovella Miller McClain. He was a Baptist and a pipe fitter with Pipe Fitters Union No. 391.

He is survived by his wife, Anna McClain; one son, James Gregory McClain of Danville; three daughters, Anna Marie Gable of Cullman, and Janice Sheri Smith and Sarah Michele Walker, both of Danville; one brother, Donald McClain of Huntsville; two sisters, Billie Tucker of Decatur and Rhonda Simmons of Hartselle; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Walls, Bobby Simmons, Craig Legg, Mitchell Simmons, Clark Gable and Tony Gable.

Rodger Oliver
47, retired electrician

TRINITY -- Funeral for Rodger Oliver, 47, of Moulton will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Willie Delashaw and Phillip Russell officiating.

Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Oliver died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at his home. He was born March 6, 1952, in Lawrence County to Willard and Sallie Oliver. He was a retired electrician.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Gillespie Oliver; two daughters, Misty Oliver Johnson of Birmingham and Autumn Oliver Conley of Hartselle; his stepfather and mother, Virgil and Sallie Naylor of Moulton; and one sister, Marscelle Owens of Moulton.

Nephews and brothers-in-law will be pallbearers.

Emet Fred 'Ruby' White
83, retiree

TRINITY -- Funeral for Emet Fred "Ruby" White, 83, of Moulton will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Kyle McWhorter officiating.

Burial will be in Dancy's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. White died today, Oct. 18, 1999, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Lawrence County to Walter and Anna Lee White. He was retired and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by one son, Wallace White of Athens; one daughter, Joyce Peters of Moulton; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Oliver, Ray White, Bobby White, Jimmy White, Joe White and Earl White.

Dorothy McDowra Zepp
80, homemaker

Funeral for Dorothy McDowra Zepp, 80, of Levittown, Pa., formerly of Decatur, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Coomer officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Zepp died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Lower Bucks County Hospital in Levittown. She was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Decatur to Burt and Helen McDowra. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Lorna Kubiak of Glouster, Ohio, Carol L. Jones of Easthampton, N.J., and Debra Fanaro of Levittown; four sisters, Annie Belle McAlister of Huntsville, Sophronia Morris of Florence, Ruth Brooks of Pinson and Charles Mills of Decatur; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be nephews Jimmy Burden, Mike Morris, Joe Clark, Larry McAlister, Jerry Brooks and Dennis Brooks.

Barbara Ann Betowt

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Barbara Ann Betowt, 52, of Huntsville will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence with Spry Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Betowt died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Jan. 3, 1947, in Lauderdale County. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a registered nurse at Huntsville's Dialysis Center.

She is survived by her husband, J. Wayne Betowt; two sons, Glenn Gautney and Steven Gautney, both of Rogersville; one daughter, Katie Reaves of Florence; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Alison Betowt of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Mary Anastasia Betowt of Huntsville; her mother, Mildred Horton of Rogersville; one sister, Sandy Loop of Huntsville; and one grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 930 Franklin St. S.E., Huntsville, AL 35801.
