HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Alic Winford Townson, 83, of Panama City, Fla., formerly of Decatur, was Dec. 22 at First Freewill Baptist Church in Panama City with the Rev. Jack C. Cowart officiating.

Burial was in Green wood Cemetery with Wilson Funeral home directing.

Mr. Townson died Dec. 19, 1999. He was born Feb. 12, 1916, in Winston County to Oliver and Edney Townson. He was a retired painter. He had family in Hartselle.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen Townson.

Quentin Troupe

ATHENS -- Funeral for Quentin Troupe, 22, of Tanner will be Saturday at noon at Little Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church in Tanner with the Rev. Willie Byrd officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with People's Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Troupe died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, in Tanner. He was born Nov. 13, 1977, in Morgan County. He was a student at The University of Alabama at Birmingham.

William Edward Weaver Sr.
80, Huntsville Manufacturing retiree

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for William Edward Weaver Sr., 80, of Huntsville will be Sunday at 2:15 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Andy Wisner officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Weaver died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born April 13, 1919, in Limestone County. A Madison County resident most of his life, he retired from Huntsville Manufacturing and served with the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Carlene L. Weaver; three sons, William "Rock" Weaver of Huntsville, Charles "Chuck" Weaver of Decatur and Mark Weaver of Gurley; three daughters, Carol Barrett of Meridianville, and Brenda Martin and Susan Wright, both of Madison; three brothers, Roland "Chuck" Weaver and Paul Weaver, both of Huntsville, and Charles Weaver of Madison; five sisters, Elaine Hooper of McBurg, Tenn., Viola Carroll and Reba McCartt, both of Huntsville, Goldie Sellars of Morgan City and Catherine White of El Monte, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Carl Adrian Brock

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Carl Adrian Brock, 55, of Cullman was to be today at 2 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Kent officiating.

Burial was to be in Hamby's Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Brock died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at The University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. He was born Jan. 12, 1944, in Cullman to Roy Adrian Brock and Christine Daniel Brock. He was a lieutenant with the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. He was the grandfather of the late Myles Brockway.

He is survived by one daughter, Julie Brock Brockway of Cullman; three brothers, Sherman Brock of Madison, Bruce Brock of Eva and Bryan Brock of Guntersville; two sisters, Peggy Burden of Baileyton and Sandra Brock of Cullman; his mother of Cullman; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers were to be Ricky Dale, Ellis Folsom, Keith Hunt, Phil Estes, Duck Livingston and Jack Springer.

Frances Mylo Hannah
77, retired bookkeeper

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Frances Mylo Hannah, 77, of Athens was to be today at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Hal Noble officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Hannah died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at her home. She was born June 20, 1922, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. She was a retired bookkeeper and worked at Rancel Furniture in Athens.

She is survived by one son, Wasyl Mylo of Athens; two daughters, Julie Jarrett of Bay Minette and Lynn Hodges of Decatur; one sister, Margaret Todd of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Raford Jackson Petty
73, preacher

ATHENS -- Funeral for Raford Jackson Petty, 73, of Athens will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Dickson Funeral Home in Dickson, Tenn.

Burial will be in Rock Church Cemetery in Dickson. Spry Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.

Mr. Petty died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Dickson. He was a preacher, a U.S. Air Force veteran and an elder at Westview Church of Christ. He worked for Dick Chittam Realty and was a member of the Athens-Limestone Board of Realtors.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Petty; one son, Wayne Petty of Athens; one daughter, Audrey Juckett of Athens; two brothers, Mack Petty of Clinton, Tenn., and Reavis Petty of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Carolyn Choate of Dickson; and five grandchildren.

Peggy J. Phillips
71, retired school secretary, antique dealer

Funeral for Peggy J. Phillips, 71, of Decatur will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Gordon Luff officiating.

Graveside service will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham. The family will receive friends one hour before burial at Elmwood Chapel.

Mrs. Phillips died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born June 11, 1928, in Birmingham to Timon and Lillie Mahaffey Goodwin. She was retired from Austin High School, where she worked as a secretary, and was a well-recognized antique dealer. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Phillips; two sons, Steve Phillips of Decatur and Alan Phillips of Columbia, Tenn.; two sisters, Dottie Luff of Redding, Calif., and Barbara Jones of Tuscaloosa; and one grandson.

FLORENCE -- Funeral arrangements for Tula Dollar Reding of Courtland, who died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, will be announced by Elkins Funeral Home.

Ernest Coy Summerford
57, truck driver

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ernest Coy Summerford, 57, of Hartselle will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Hampton and the Rev. Wendell Callahan officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Summerford died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at his home. He was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Morgan County to David and Sarah Elizabeth White Summerford. He was a Baptist and a truck driver for Bestway.

He is survived by his son, Michael Joe Summerford of Hartselle; one daughter, Bonnie Faye Summerford of Hartselle; two brothers, Roy Summerford and Allen Summerford, both of Hartselle; and four sisters, Hazel Taylor, Mildred Ledlow, Nell Shaneyfelt and Ruth Campbell, all of Hartselle.

William Thomas Weaver
59, minister

ERIN, Tenn. -- Funeral for William Thomas Weaver, 59, of Erin was to be today at 2 p.m. at Nave Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Testor and the Rev. R.C. Mays officiating.

Burial was to be in Arlington Cemetery in Erin.

Mr. Weaver died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at his home. He was born March 22, 1940, in Erin to Archie and Lillian Bratschi Weaver. He was a minister and member of Arlington House of Prayer.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Northcutt Weaver; five sons, Steve Weaver of Trinity, Douglas Weaver of Harvest, Kenneth Weaver of Baton Rouge, La., Brian Weaver of Walker, La., and Daniel Weaver of Erin; two daughters, Deborah Haynes of Athens and Malanda Wolfe of Erin; three stepsons, Kenneth Textor of Mississippi, Thomas Textor of Erin and Charles Textor of Plant City, Fla.; three brothers, Robert Weaver, Donald Weaver and Roy Weaver, all of Erin; seven sisters, Toosie Cornililus of Florida, Mildred Muser of Hamlin, Ky., Margaret Baylor and Fay Baylor, both of Erin, Mary Burnfard of Tennessee Ridge, Tenn., Gail Wyatt of Stewart, Tenn., and Brenda Martin of Atlanta; and 13 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Steven Haynes, Bill Wolfe, Charles Textor, Kenneth Textor, Bill Baylor and the Rev. Joe Courville.

Elmer Riley Akins
78, retired farmer

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Elmer Riley Akins, 78, of Cullman will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Benny Johnson and the Rev. Lewis Briscoe officiating.

Burial will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Akins died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at his home. He was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Cullman County to Bertie and Fannie Ivey Akins. He was a retired farmer. He was the widower of Helen Akins, and the brother of the late Euil Akins, Buddy Akins and Eldora Miller.

He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Rascoe of Decatur and Janice Smith of Cullman; two sisters, Estelle Ray of Baileyton and Ithema Martin of Cullman; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and10 great-grandchildren.

Peggy J. Benfield
60, retired business owner

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Funeral for Peggy J. Benfield, 60, of Hattiesburg was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home with the Rev. David Price officiating. Burial was in McLaurin Cemetery.

Mrs. Benfield died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Wesley Medical Center. She was born Oct. 1, 1939, in Mount Olive, Miss.

She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and the retired owner of Benfield Financial Services, Inc. She was the widow of Billy Wayne Benfield, formerly of Decatur.

She is survived by one son, Greg Benfield of Hattiesburg; one daughter, Angie Benfield-Warren of Hattiesburg; her mother, Eloise Johnson Tolar of McLaurin, Miss.; and one granddaughter.
