Raymond W. Holtman
1918-1999
STANBERRY, Mo. -- Raymond William Holtman, 80, Stanberry, formerly of Conception Junction, Mo., died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at a hospital in Albany, Mo.
Mr. Holtman was a self-employed truck driver for many years. In 1983, he retired from Lloyd Metal Products, Maryville, Mo., after 15 years of service as a forklift operator and truck driver.
Born Feb. 25, 1918, in Conception Junction, he lived there until moving to Stanberry in 1983. He served with the Army during World War II, and was a member of the Roman Catholic faith.
On Feb. 12, 1945, he married Bonnie J. Barnett in Conception Junction. She survives of the home.
Mr. Holtman was preceded in death by a son, Raymond L.; his parents, John and Mary; and two brothers, Ed and Lawrence.
Additional survivors: a daughter, Mary L. Combs, Denver, Mo.; two sisters, Loretta Brant, Jerome, Idaho, and Agnes Veach, Olewein, Iowa; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, Breit & Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, Mo. Burial: Bennett Lane Cemetery, Savannah. Visitation: after 8 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight. Memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.

Mary E. Kautz
1923-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. -- Mary Elizabeth Kautz, 75, Atchison, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at an Atchison retirement village.
Miss Kautz sang with her sister, the late Katherine R. McCourt, at many weddings in the Atchison community. She also was a substitute teacher in the Atchison Catholic Elementary School system.
Born May 10, 1923, in Atchison, she attended Sacred Heart Grade School, and Mount Saint Scholastica Academy and College, all of Atchison. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and Altar Society.
Miss Kautz also was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Elizabeth A.
Surviving: three nephews, Owen F. McCourt, Topeka, Kan., W. Patrick McCourt, Onaga, Kan., and Paul A. McCourt, of the home; her aunt, Louise, Atchison; many cousins, including Rosie Carter, Atchison; four great-nephews; and 10 great-nieces.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Atchison. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Atchison. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, where the family will then receive friends until 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Atchison Hospice or Benedictine Sisters Dooley Center.

Helen McKenny
1922-1999
FORD CITY, Mo. -- Helen (Adams) McKenny, 76, Ford City, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. McKenny taught elementary school in Ford City, Albany and Gentry, Mo., for several years. She was a graduate of Albany High School and Northwest Missouri State Teachers College, Maryville.
Born April 18, 1922, in Albany, she moved to Ford City in 1946. She was a member of the Ford City Friendship Club and was a former den mother for the Cub Scouts.
Mrs. McKenny was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ford City, and the Altar Society and Northwest Missouri Deanery, both of the church.
On Sept. 5, 1946, she married C.W. McKenny in Ford City. He died in 1998.
Mrs. McKenny also was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar D. and Hattie Adams.
Surviving: two sons, Charles W., Mapleton, Iowa, and Robert P., Dallas; and a brother, Bill R. Adams, Maryville.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ford City. Burial: in the church Cemetery, north of Ford City. Family visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Gibson Funeral Home, King City, Mo., with a rosary following the visitation at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to the St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery, in care of the funeral home, 101 Prospect, King City, MO 64463.

Murrell M. Misner
1908-1999
CAMERON, Mo. -- Murrell M. (Baucom) Misner, 90, Cameron, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at a hospital in Liberty, Mo.
Mrs. Misner was a machine operator at Lambert's Manufacturing Co., Gallatin, Mo.
Born May 17, 1908, in Richmond, Mo., she lived in Gallatin until moving to Cameron 17 years ago.
Mrs. Misner was a member of the Cameron First Baptist Church, and the Rainbow class of the church. She also was a member of the Fidelis Rebecca Lodge No. 171, Cameron, and the Order of the Eastern Star No. 182, Winston, Mo.
On Sept. 19, 1928, she married Ora Misner. He died in 1964.
Mrs. Misner also was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bessie Baucom; and a brother, Cecil Baucom.
Surviving: two daughters, Lavenia Lynn and Bonnie Weese, both of Kansas City; a sister, Clovevilla Kueck, Wathena, Kan.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Friday, First Baptist Church, Cameron. Burial: Prairie Ridge Cemetery, Polo, Mo. Family visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to the church. Arrangements: Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron.

Francis W. Sharp
1913-1999
Francis W. "Bus" Sharp, 85, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center.
Mr. Sharp was employed with the former Armour & Co., then with Railway Express and the Weisenborn Dairy, all of St. Joseph. He retired at the age of 62 from the Gray Manufacturing Co., St. Joseph.
Born Jan. 24, 1913, in Troy, Kan., he lived in San Diego before moving to St. Joseph in 1942. He was a member of the Christian faith and was formerly active in the Moose Lodge.
Mr. Sharp was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson D. and Anna E.
Surviving: two sons, J. Roger, Manlius, N.Y., and F. Michael, Stockton, Calif.; a daughter, Margaret A. Dick, San Diego; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial service: noon Saturday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. The body has been cremated. Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary E. Willard
1915-1999
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Mary Ella (Mace) Lewis Willard, 83, Chillicothe, formerly of Mooresville, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at a Chillicothe health-care center.
Born July 3, 1915, in Linneus, Mo., she attended rural Linneus schools and was a homemaker. She moved to Mooresville in 1959.
Mrs. Willard was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, north of Meadville, Mo.
In 1937, she married William H. Lewis. He died in 1947. She married her second husband, Ralph H. Willard, in 1964. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Willard also was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Oletha and Aletha; two stepdaughters, Julia Bradford and Celene Smith; a stepson, William Lewis; her parents, Guy E. and Letha E. Mace; and four brothers, Elmer, Earl, Harold and Theodore Mace.
Surviving: two sons, Henry T. Lewis, Linneus, and Terry L. Lewis, Braymer, Mo.; a daughter, Mary O. Minnis, Mooresville; a stepdaughter, Alice Mace, Brookfield, Mo.; two sisters, Pearl Schaefer, Brookfield, and Viola Crist, Kirksville, Mo.; seven grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Burial: Utica (Mo.) Cemetery. Visitation: after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 tonight. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Mary Willard Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Virginia Anderson
1920-1999
Virginia (Wallace) Anderson, 78, St. Joseph, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Anderson, a homemaker, also taught painting lessons in the St. Joseph area.
Born July 15, 1920, in Walnut, Iowa, she lived in southern Missouri until moving to St. Joseph in 1961.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Wyatt Park Baptist Church, St. Joseph China Painters and the Pony Express China Club, all of St. Joseph. She also was a member of the Christian Women's Club, American Heritage China Club and the World Organization and state of Missouri China Painting Clubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron O. Anderson, in 1993; a son, Byron C.; her parents, Marvin and Carrie K. Wallace; a sister, Cordelia Walters; and a brother, Marvin Wallace.
Surviving: two sons, James, New Orleans, and Steven, Oklahoma City, Okla.; a daughter, Kay McAndrews, Las Vegas; a sister, Barbara LeBeck, Sequim, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Burial: Ashland Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today, at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Wyatt Park Baptist Church, St. Joseph.

Everett J. Christenson
1910-1999
BIG LAKE, Mo. -- Everett J. Christenson, 88, Big Lake, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Christenson was employed in road construction in the state of Nebraska, and also worked in auto parts manufacturing. He served with the Army during World War II.
Born July 2, 1910, in Adair County, Mo., near Kirksville, he lived in Cozad, Neb., from 1934, until moving to Big Lake in 1990.
On June 21, 1934, he married Coriene L. Campbell. She survives of the home in Mound City, Mo.
Mr. Christenson was preceded in death by his parents, Grover C. and Macy A.; and a brother, Francis L.
Additional survivors: a daughter, Joan Thompson, Big Lake; a sister, Isabell Carpenter, Ladysmith, Wis.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 11 a.m. Saturday, Steele Cemetery, Falls City, Neb. Visitation: after 2 p.m. today, Schooler Funeral Home, Craig, Mo. There is no scheduled family visitation.

G. Jeanette DeFreece
1932-1999
RAVENWOOD, Mo. -- G. Jeanette DeFreece, 67, Ravenwood, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Miss DeFreece worked as a credit manager at J.C. Penney & Co., Denver, and was an Adult Basic Education Volunteer.
Born Jan. 5, 1932, in Parnell, Mo., she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Parnell, the St. Ann's Altar Society, of the church, and the Young at Heart Bowling League.
Miss DeFreece was preceded in death by her father, Henry.
Surviving: her mother, Goldie M., Ravenwood; three brothers, David and James, both of Ravenwood, and Jack, Clearfield, Iowa; nine sisters, Virginia Perkins, Mesa, Ariz., Marilyn Runde and Debbie Busby, both of Parnell, Mona Rogers, Arvada, Colo., Jo Ella Gilbert, King City, Mo., Helen Beal, Shawnee Mission, Kan., Kathryn Langley, St. Joseph, Vickie Kling, Maryville, Mo., and Sharon DeFreece, Ravenwood.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Parnell. Burial: in the church cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7 tonight, at the church. Family visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. today, Johnson Funeral Home, Maryville.

Irene M. Handke
1908-1999
OSKALOOSA, Kan. -- Irene M. Handke, 90, Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at an Oskaloosa health-care center.
Miss Handke worked as a bookkeeper for Montgomery Wards in Atchison, Kan., and Kansas City, retiring in 1970.
Born May 22, 1908, in Atchison, she was a graduate of Atchison High School.
Miss Handke was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and the St. Matthew's Church, Nortonville, Kan. She also was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Rosalia; two brothers, Raymond and Theodore; and a sister, Corinne Armstrong.
Surviving: two nieces, Margaret Green , Atchison; and Teddy J. Berends, Caldwell, Idaho; two nephews, Dr. Terry Armstrong, Boston; and Richard, Boise, Idaho; five great-nieces; seven great-nephews; five great-great-nieces; and seven great-great-nephews.
Service: 2 p.m., Saturday, St. Matthews Church, Nortonville. Burial: Mount Vernon Cemetery, Atchison. Family visitation: 6 to 8 tonight, Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. The body will be moved to the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be sent to the church.

Ronald R. Heitman Sr.
1935-1999
Ronald R. Heitman Sr., 63, St. Joseph, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born July 2, 1935, in St. Joseph, Mr. Heitman was a lifelong resident there. He was employed with the Wire Rope Corp. of America, St. Joseph, until he became disabled many years ago. He also served in the Army.
Mr. Heitman was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Goldie.
Surviving: his wife, Terry Heitman, of the home; a son, Ronald R. Jr., St. Joseph; two daughters, Carlene Heath and Stacey Groce, both of St. Joseph; a sister, Shirley Frakes, St. Joseph; a brother, Rex, St. Joseph; and five grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 9 a.m. Saturday, Ashland Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph.

Vernetta C. Owens
1913-1999
MAITLAND, Mo. -- Vernetta C. (Ward) Owens, 85, Maitland, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at a hospital in Fairfax, Mo.
Born May 21, 1913, Mrs. Owens was a registered nurse in the state of Washington for many years before her retirement, when she moved to Maitland. She was a graduate of the Skidmore (Mo.) High School, and a member of the Maitland First Christian Church.
Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband, Gardner E. Owens, in 1980; her parents, Orvin and Nora B. Ward; and a brother, Leland Ward.
Surviving: a sister, Joyce Diggs, Maitland.
Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Johnson Funeral Home, Maitland. Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore. Visitation: after noon today, at the funeral home. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Saundra S. Stagner
1944-1999
AGENCY, Mo. -- Saundra S. (Stein) Stagner, 54, Agency, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at her home.
Mrs. Stagner was employed as a cashier with Kovac's Grocery and Juggie's Furniture and Sales, both of St. Joseph. Prior to Juggie's, she was employed with Armour & Co., Kansas City.
Born Sept. 12, 1944, in Independence, Mo., she resided most of her life in the St. Joseph area, moving to Agency 13 years ago.
Mrs. Stagner was a member of St. James Catholic Church, St. Joseph.
On July 5, 1986, she married Donald E. Stagner in St. Joseph, where he survives of the home.
Additional survivors: a son, Chance Clements, Raymore, Mo.; two daughters, Robin Carpenter, Tampa, Fla., and Candace Dewey, Wellsville, Kan.; a stepson, Tim, Agency; two stepdaughters, Shelly Hamrick, Perrysburg, Ohio, and Sherrie, Kansas City; her parents, Alex and Wanda Stein, St. Joseph; two sisters, Carol A. Shank, Sugar Creek, Mo., and Terry Doocy, Edmond, Okla.; and eight grandchildren.
