Ethel A. Pratt
Ethel A. Pratt of Sullivan, passed away Monday, January 10, 2000 at the age of 65 years.
Ms. Pratt was born on September 10, 1934 in Sullivan, Mo. to the late William and Thelma (Blackburn) Pratt. She was raised in Sullivan, and lived her entire life in the Sullivan area. As an adult, Ethel served as a faithful caregiver to both of her parents. Baptized at an early age, she was a very active member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Sullivan. She also was a well known worker at the Sullivan Senior Citizens Dining Center. Throughout her life Ethel was loving and giving to all those around her. She especially treated her nieces and nephews as though they were her very own children. In addition, she is described as a woman who "never seemed to meet a stranger." Ethel enjoyed puzzles, possessed a keen appreciation of animals, and deeply loved her dog, Christina.
She is survived by two brothers, Roy L. Pratt of Sullivan and William B. Pratt of Lexington, Arizona, formerly of Sullivan, passed away Friday, January 7, 2000 at the age of 89 years.
Velma was born February 14, 1910 to the late Ashley and Pearl (Campbell) Scott at Crawford County, Mo. Velma was Sullivan's first beautician and was employed in that field until she married Raymond Shaward in 1938 and moved to Phoenix, Mississippi to the late James and Ora Lou (Reeves) Walden. She was raised in the South, mainly in Texas where she was raised. On May 28, 1941 she was joined in marriage to Zelmer Neff at Potosi, Mo., and to this union three children were born. In the late 1950s Melba and her family moved to the Bourbon area. In addition to serving as a homemaker, she helped support her family by working at area factories. After approximately ten years at Paramount Headwear of Bourbon, she retired. She enjoyed arts, crafts, and crossword puzzle, but took special pleasure in all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who knew her best describe Melba as a very loving, caring woman who was good to everyone.
She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Neff of Bourbon and Larry Neff of Sullivan; one daughter, Jackie Funkhouser and husband, Gary of Bourbon; one brother, Elmer Range and wife, Velma of Walnut Shade, Mo.; one sister, Estella Tucker of Bunker, Mo.; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice and Riley Range, and one sister, Lila Boyster.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2000 from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Alva Enloe officiating. Interment was in the Bourbon Cemetery.

Bertha Isgrig
Bertha Isgrig of Bourbon passed away on Monday, June 5, 2000 at the age of 90 years.
Mrs. Isgrig was born on February 26, 1910 in Tahlequah, Mississippi, and Louise Anderson of Ozark, Mo.; five step-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Bertha was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Lieuallen, and one sister, Letha Chrestman.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2000 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Mr. Gerald Goff officiating. Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Sullivan Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in memory of Mrs. Bertha Isgrig.

James G. Hoss
James G. "Jim" Hoss of Cuba, Mo. was born on November 21, 1939 at Bourbon, Mo. to the union of James Z. Hoss and Hazel Hoss nee Cresswell and passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2000 at the St. John's Mercy Hospital, South Carolina. They have been happily married for 33 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on June 30, 1964.
He retired as an air traffic controller. Jim has been a long time resident of Crawford County. He was a past member of the Elks Club and the Lions Club, a member of the Cuba First Baptist Church, past city alderman and worked for Farm Bureau after retiring as an air traffic controller.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his devoted wife Patty Hoss; daughters Gina and Lisa; two grandsons Brandon and Paden Davis; stepsons Mark Brown and wife Sue, Rodney Brown and wife Melody; 3 step-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Jim was a devoted husband, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
James G. "Jim" Hoss was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Woodrow Martin and Chaplain Paul Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.

Shirley Faye Monroe
Shirley Faye Monroe (nee Santhuff) was born Wednesday, November 11, 1936, at Ellington, Mo., a daughter of Mary Matilda Santhuff (nee Goodson) and the late Jesse Lyman (Till) Santhuff.
She entered eternal rest Sunday, June 4, 2000, in the Illinois. She later became a member of Center Point Baptist Church, Steelville, Mo.
In addition to her father and her husband she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Elmer Monroe, and Donald Werth.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her mother Mary Lacy of Steelville, Mo.; one son, Kirk Monroe and wife Tammy of St. Clair, Mo.; one daughter, Rhonda and husband Steve Weeks of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Bob Santhuff and wife Lelah of Steelville, Mo., Bill Santhuff and wife Pat of Piedmont, Mo., Dolores and husband Don Goad of Cedar Hill, Mo., Loretta Anderson of Rolla, Mo., Joyce and husband Ron Bouse of Steelville, Mo., and Ron Santhuff of Benton, Pennsylvania, George Santhuff of Rogers, Arkansas and Doris and husband Wayne Costlow of Germany; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lyle and Shirley Monroe of Jerseyville, Illinois, Frank (Butch) and Katie Monroe of Longwood, Washington, Mo., at the age of 63 years, 9 months and 11 days.
On February 22, 1957, at St. Louis, Mo., Bobby was united in marriage to Alice McLawhorn and to this union three sons and two daughters were born.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by an infant son, Timmy.
He served his country four years in the United States Navy, receiving an Honorable Discharge January 10, 1962.
Bobby was united in marriage to Evelyn Wilkinson, daughter of the late Norris and Glyde Wilkinson, April 2, 1970, at St. Louis, Mo. They have enjoyed over thirty years together. In 1996, he retired from a lifelong career as a truck driver for Complete Auto.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Evelyn of the home; two sons, Richard Livesay and wife Terri of Charleston, South Carolina, Donna and husband Mark Havard of Cuba, Mo.
Ten grandchildren, Reanna and Tayler Livesay, Randi, Dustin, Kasey, and McKenzie Livesay, Jessica, Allison and Lacey Alford, and Jennifer Havard; one sister, Jackie and husband Harold Smith of Steelville, Mo.; one brother, Jerry Livesay and wife Charlotte of Cuba, Mo.
Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Laverne and Sharon Wilkinson of Washington, Mo.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Bobby Gene Livesay lay in state 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Sunday, August 6, 2000, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2000, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. David Cartee officiating.
Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Mo. Pallbearers were Lydie Davis, Ron Green , Mark Guggenburger, Jack Harman, Terry Voyles, David Wilkinson, Paul Wilkinson and Tom Wynn.
Arrangements under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Elsie Regina Halbert
Elsie Regina Halbert (nee Belden) of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Steelville, Mo., daughter of the late Charles Birdell and Anna (Heppermann) Belden, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at Southpointe Hospital, in St. Louis, Mo.
On June 11, 1940, at Cuba, Mo., Elsie was united in marriage to Thomas S. Halbert and to this union one daughter was born. Together they founded Halbert Funeral Home of Steelville, Mo. They enjoyed over forty-seven years together before his death, January 19, 1988.
In addition to her parents, and husband Tom, Elsie was preceded in death by her brother Birdel Belden, her sister, Cecilia Blinne, Gladys Belden, and sister-in-law Effie Lee Robinson.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her daughter Theresa "Terrie" Jane Halbert of St. Louis, Mo.; and her nephews Thomas LaPlant and wife Mary of Steelville, Mo., Bill LaPlant and wife Geneva of St. Louis, Mo., and Charles Blinne and wife Pat of Tyler, Illinois, at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 19 days.
On March 21, 1926, in Steelville, Mo. Rev. Sam Roper united Emma in marriage to Frank B. Davis. One son and one daughter were born to this union. They enjoyed sixty-six years together before his death on December 15, 1992.
Emma was a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents and her husband Frank, Emma was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Odell Milton; seven brothers, Oscar, Walter, Irving, Henry, Roland, John and Clarence Burke, and five sisters, Florence, Esther, and Evelyn Burke, Ruth Ann and husband Robert Land, Flora and husband Tillman "Tim" Wright.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted daughter Dolores Milton of Granite City, Florida; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Emma Viola Davis lay in state after 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2000, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2000, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Jerry Douglas officiating. Musical selections were provided by Deloris Bell.
Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Gary Hudson, Alan Milton, David Milton, Paul Milton, Robert Rhodes and Mike Seifert.
Arrangements under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
