Mary Virginia Dreitzler

Mary Virginia "Ginny" (Brown) Dreitzler, 90, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 5:50 PM at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, 3003 West Cisco Rd., Sidney, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert L.; parents, Hershel T. and Adena Mutchner Brown; beloved sister and friend Helen Abercrombie Billing and brother-in-law Gene Abercrombie. She is survived by daughters Sue Dreitzler and Kay Howard and husband Rick; son Jim and wife Terry; brother Richard T. and sister-in-law Iola; brother-in-law, Bill Billing; grandchildren, Jamie, Mark and Katie; great-granddaughters, Megan, Leah, and Reese; and many nieces and nephews. Ginny was born May 23, 1918 in "Yankeetown: - a little place in Darke County, Ohio and graduated from Hollandsburg High School and Tiffin University. Ginny lived in Bellevue, Toledo and Tiffin and worked as the school secretary at york School in Clyde and as a teacher's aide in the Tiffin Public Schools. Upon her retirement, Ginny and her sister Helen traveled together having the time of their lives. In her later years, Ginny had many wonderful friends at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, where she made her home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Oliver Amos Chapel at Dorothy Love Retirement Community with Rev. Keith Matthews. Burial will be at Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the hospice of one's choice or other favorite charity.

Robert Dean Piatt

PIATT Sr., Robert Dean, age 78 of Sidney, passed away at his home on July 13, 2006. He is preceded in death by his daughter Betty Jo Piatt, and his granddaughter Morgan Piatt. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty (Weitzel) Piatt; his children: Robert D. Piatt, Jr. of Georgia, Jim (& Rose) Piatt of Sidney, Kathleen (& Roger) Laframboise of Anna, Larry Piatt of Florida, Mary Bales of Sidney, and Ron Piatt of Sidney. Robert is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He faithfully served his country in the Air Force during WWII, and was a member of American Legion Post 217. Visitation to be held 4-7:00 PM, Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Salm McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home, 502 South Ohio Avenue, Sidney. Funeral Services to be held 10 AM, Monday, July 17, 2006 at the Full Gospel Community Church, 950 South Childrens Home Road, Rev. Charles Jarrett officiating. Interment in Graceland cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice.

Alvina Margaret Rousseau

ROUSSEAU, Alvina Margaret (Groff) age 91 of Sidney passed away on July 15, 2006 at Garby Ridge. She was born March 14, 1915 in Russia, Ohio to the late Albert J. and Genevieve (Francis) Groff. Alvina is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 60 years, Regis A. Rousseau, and 5 siblings. She is survived by her daughters: Marcia A. (& Wayne) Spoltman, and Sharon (& Gary) Hilgefort both of Sidney, 6 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren; sisters: Edna Chenoweth of Piqua, Mary Jane (& Wallace) Carey of Piqua, and brothers: Norbert Goff of Troy, George Groff of Sidney, and Bernard Groff of Piqua. Alvina was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Sodality. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney, OH. Visitation will be held 9-10:30 AM at Salm McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home, 502 South Ohio Avenue, Sidney prior to the Mass on Tuesday. Interment Graceland cemetery.

Jean Crane Allen

Jean Crane Allen, 55, 1140 Stephens Road, Sidney, Ohio died at her residence on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 11:05 AM after a lengthy illness. She was born July 5, 1951 in Decatur, Illinois the daughter of Joseph and Eileen (Kayhs) Crane and they survive in Decatur, Illinois. She moved to Sidney, Ohio in 1987 from Hollywood, Florida. She was married to Neil F. Allen on October 5, 1974 and he survives along with two daughters, Kimberley Allen Breitwieser and husband AJ living in Edmond, Oklahoma and Brianne Crane Allen living at home in Sidney, Ohio; one sister, Jacque Crane Mannakee living in Sidney, Ohio. She received her diploma from Decatur Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1971 and was a registered nurse at Upper Valley Memorial Hospital in Troy, Ohio. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Piqua, Ohio. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 1:30 PM at the St. James Episcopal Church, 200 West High Street, Piqua, Ohio 45356 with Rev. Rob Baldwin and Rev. Ruth Paulus. There are no calling hours or burial as the body was cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. James Episcopal Church Building Fund, 200 West High Street, Piqua, Ohio 45356.

Dannie Adkins
Date: 2006-07-22

Dannie Adkins, 79, 429 Ironwood Drive, Sidney, Ohio passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 6:50 PM at Dorothy Love Retirement Community. He was the son of the late Pembrook and Ella (Sharp) Adkins and was born on September 23, 1926. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Betty J. Hammack; five sons, Dannie Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; Ed and Tim of Sidney, Ohio; Rex of North Carolina and Ted of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Donna, his daughter, preceded him in death. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Lizzie Ferguson, Minnie Stewart, Ruby Moore, Linda Rolando, Arlene Klump and 3 brothers, Melvin, Earl and Arvil Adkins. One brother, Willis preceded him in death. Mr. Adkins served in the United States Navy during World War II was a member of the Sidney American Legion, he was a member of the First Nazarene Church of Sidney and was a security officer for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. There will be a memorial celebration of life service on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at 6:00 PM at the First Nazarene Church in Sidney with Rev. Chad Wilson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dorothy Love Life Care Fund in Dannie Adkins' memory, 3003 W. Cisco Road, Sidney, Ohio 45365.

Audrey Margaret Childers

Audrey Margaret Childers, 95, 1033 Pinecrest Rd., Boiling Spring Lakes, North Carolina died at Ocean Trail Nursing Center in Southport, North Carolina on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at 6:30 AM. She was born August 24, 1910 in Tamelco, Illinois the daughter of Clifford William and Bessie Mae (Slayton) Stone. She was married in 1931 to William Sheridan Childers and he died in 1980. Surviving are two children, Marlene Rike and husband Carl of Southport, North Carolina and Grayce Swope and husband Dave of Arlington, Texas; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Deceased are two sons, Kenneth E. Childers, and Clifford William Childers and one daughter, Phyllis Jean Crilley and five brothers and sisters. She was a homemaker. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Graceland cemetery.

William Guy Cain
Date: 2006-08-14

William Guy Cain, 80, 804 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio, died at Wilson Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 14, 2006 at 3:30 PM and went home to have a party with his loved ones. He was born November 8, 1925 in Pickway County, son of William Guy and Anna Mae (Eseman) Cain. On June 6, 1947, he married Pauline Mowery. She survives along with sons, Pat, Jim and wife Jenny and daughter Cindy and her husband David Akin of Sidney and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Cain served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. He came from a family of retail grocery owners and actively ran grocery businesses for many years. His last retail love was working in the hardware department of Wal-Mart in Sidney for the last ten years. Bill was honest, hard working and generous with a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed tremendously by family and friends. A Memorial service will be held at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Sunday, September 3, 2006 at 1:30 PM. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Cedar Point cemetery, Pasco, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1130 Vester Ave., Suite G, Springfield, Ohio 45503. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

Thomas A. Zimpfer

Thomas A. Zimpfer, 55, 14955 Amsterdam Road, Anna, Ohio died in the emergency room at Wilson Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 4, 2006 at 5:30 PM. He was born February 4, 1951 in Sidney, Ohio the son of George and June (Bodenmiller) Zimpfer of Anna, Ohio. He was married to Theresa Platfoot on April 8, 1972 and she also survives along with three children, Tonya Huelskamp and husband Chad of Anna, Ohio; Ted and wife Molly (Wyen) Zimpfer of Anna, Ohio and Tim and wife Raci (Mullett) Zimpfer and eight grandchildren, Carter, Macey, Riley, Hayden, Tyler, Amber, Troy, and Aven and one sister Janet Siegel and husband Ronnie of Ft. Loramie, Ohio. He was a 1969 graduate of Anna High School and served as a trustee for Dinsmore Township for five years, Shelby County Commissioner for two terms for a total of eight years and also zoning officer for Franklin Township and a member of the Anna FFA alumni and Anna Young Farmers. He enjoyed boating and his grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rhine, Ohio. He was a farmer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 8, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins, Ohio with Rev. Patrick Sloneker. Burial will be at Loramie Valley cemetery, Botkins, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Thursday, September 7, 2006 from 2-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anna/Botkins Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 201, 203 S. Linden Ave., Anna, Ohio 45302.
