age 6 weeks, of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, died at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday, October 01, 2002, at Childrens Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born August 15, 2002, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of George Searfoss and Sarah Hiser, both survive in Mechanicsburg.
He is survived by Paternal Grandparents, George and Toni Searfoss of Haviland, Ohio, Paternal Great-Grandmother, Evelyn Knuth of Middle Point, Ohio, Maternal Grandmother, Kristine Hiser of New Bremen, Ohio, Maternal Great-Great Grandmother, Olinda Oen of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Joshua Hiser (Uncle), and Kimberley Ream (Aunt). He was preceded in death by two Aunts, Amanda and Naomi Hiser.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 03, 2002, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Brickner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, October 04, 2002, 1:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Placke Officiating. Internment will be at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, Ohio.

Anthony Benjamin Nieto
May 10, 1962 - August 06, 2003
41, of Ohio City, died at his residence on Wednesday, August 6, 2003. He was born May 10, 1962, in Van Wert, the son of Joe Nieto, who survives in Ohio City and Margaret (Barrientos) Nieto, who died May 08, 2002. Mr. Nieto, had served in the United States Army from 1976 - 1982. He attended St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. He is survived by two children: Daughter, Jenna Nieto and a son, Jonathan Nieto, both of Lima, Ohio. Three sisters: Delores Myers of Elida, Angela Lewis of Van Wert, Juanita Joseph of Ohio City, One brother: Joe Nieto of Lima Ohio, two nieces, two nephews, 5 great nephews, two great nieces. Memorial Mass will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 9th at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, with graveside military services conducted by the combined Honors Unit of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803. There will be no calling hours.

Arnold Couch, Sr.
February 02, 1922 - April 29, 2003
Arnold Couch Sr., 81, of Van Wert, died at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Van Wert Manor nursing home. He was born February 2, 1922, in Hazzard, Ky., the son of the late Chester and Polly Couch. He married Marie Henson, who died June 2, 1977. Mr. Couch was a retired coal miner. Survivors include four sons, Ed Couch, Arnold Couch Jr., Lester Couch and Harold Couch; two daughters, Jane Krois and Nora Crouch; three brothers, Kermit Couch, Woody Couch and Dan Couch; one sister, Corsa Stidham; nine grandchildren, Ted Couch, Mark Couch, Chris Couch, Joseph Couch, Robert Krois, David Krois, Steven Krois, Maggie Couch and Jared Couch, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, Chester and twins Johnie and Jack; three brothers, Mark, Don and Floyd, and three sisters, Reva, Ollie and Shirley. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Brickner Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert. Calling hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

BERTHA V. DEBACHER
April 24, 1916 - June 13, 2004
88, of Van Wert, died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2004, at her residence. She was born April 24, 1916, in Scott, the daughter of the late John Calvin and Goldie (Place) Waldron. On May 17, 1941, she married Ray Debacher, who died November 8, 1995.
Mrs. Debacher had been a cook for many years at the former Colonial Restaurant in Van Wert. She attended Harvest Field Pentecostal Church in Scott.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Connon, Dee (Frank) Gillette and Debbie (Merle) Parsons, all of Van Wert; a son, Mike Debacher of Celina; 23 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Virgil Debacher; a grandson, William Derr Jr.; three great-grandsons, Thomas Coil, Cody Gillette and Michael Rice Sr., and a great-granddaughter, Galen Mihm.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Terry Martin officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at 118 S. Wall St. in Van Wert.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Billy G. Stutz
March 27, 1936 - September 08, 2003
67, of Van Wert, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital. He was born March 27, 1936, in Ohio City, the son of the late H. William and Grace (Magoto) Stutz. On June 2, 1957, he married Barbara Schisler, who survives in Van Wert. Mr. Stutz was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at Bagley Builders and Imler Construction. He especially liked to camp and was a longtime camper at Bluewater Campgrounds. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Mark (Dawn) Stutz and Bruce Stutz, both of Van Wert, and Jay Stutz of Scott; a daughter, Diane (Jody) Terrell of Convoy; three brothers, John (Helen) Stutz of Venedocia, Danny (Carol) Stutz of Van Wert and Bob (Marge) Stutz of Ohio City; five sisters, Gertrude Topp and Ruth Ann (Lester) Topp, both of New Bremen; Edna Mae Creel of Anderson, Ala. and Pearl (Bud) Mason and Judge (Jerry Christener) Lewis, both of Van Wert; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Schertzer and Margaret Miller. Private funeral services will be held, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. There will be no public visitation. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Stutz to the Van Wert Area Health Professionals-Hospice.

Brett Alan Blake
May 16, 1958 - September 11, 2004
46, of Van Wert, died at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2004, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident on Lincoln Highway east of Van Wert.
He was born May 16, 1958, in Van Wert, the son of John Blake and Dotty (Vetter) Blake, who both survive in Van Wert.
Mr. Blake attended Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert. Other survivors include a brother, Brian (Donna) Blake of Grand Forks, S.D., and his paternal grandmother, Ida May Blake of Van Wert.
Private funeral services will be conducted, with the Rev. Raymond Feeck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
There will be no visitation.

BRADLEY RALSTON
May 02, 1955 - March 12, 2004
48, of Van Wert, died Friday morning, March 12, 2004, at his residence. He was born May 02, 1955, in Van Wert, the son of Roger and Patricia (Taylor) Ralston, who survive in Van Wert, Ohio. Mr. Ralston was employed at Greif Brothers Manufacturing in Van Wert. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose 1320 in Van Wert, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 886 in Van Wert. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Matt Ralston of Dayton Ohio, Adam Ralston of Decatur Indiana, one daughter, Erin Ralston of Athens Ohio. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jeff Ralston. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Tim Burden officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert. Calling hours are 3-7 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2004 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice.
