ANGELS CAMP, Calif. -- Mary Jean "Sue" Smucker, 67, of Angels Camp, Calif., formerly of Dalton, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in a hospital in California.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, Stark-Wayne County, 1300 Christmas Seal Drive, NW, Canton 44709.
She was born July 3, 1932 in Dalton to Jeptha and Maude (Hochstetler) Smucker.
Surviving are sons, Dan Phillip Moser of Anatone, Wash., Phillip Merle Moser and Donald Paul Moser Jr., both of Tacoma, Wash.; two grandchildren; and brothers, Richard and Glen Smucker, both of Dalton.

John Eason
STERLING -- Earl W. Buckingham, 90, 13730 Kauffman Ave., died Wednesday morning, April 5, 2000, at Smithville-Western Care Center.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Rev. Lee Ann Dunlap officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sterling.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 12, 1909, in Lodi to James and Mary (Workman) Buckingham and married Mabel Bellomy on July 5, 1932. She survives
Other survivors include children and their spouses, Charles and Marilyn Buckingham of New Bern, N.C., Jerry and Jean Buckingham and Carl Buckingham, all of Wadsworth and Jayne and Floyd Drouhard of Millersburg; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence Buckingham of West Salem.

Edna Bunner
NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Edna E. Bunner, 87, 6505 Bunner Road, NW, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Union Hospital in Dover.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, with the Rev. Terry Kidd officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek.
Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 10, 1913 in Wertz County, W.Va., to James Lee and Flora Mabell (Reynolds) Menefee and married Arzie Bunner. He died in May 1975.
Other survivors include children, Freda McCoy, Shirley Sanders, Elizabeth Barrick, Junior, Charles and Kenneth Bunner, all of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Raymond (Mary) Iverson of Sherrodsville and Clarence Bunner and his wife, Nora, of Newcomerstown; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Menefee and his wife, Maggie, of Hastings, Fla.; and a sister, Bessie Fensler of Dover.

Margaret Zody
HAYESVILLE -- Margaret Davis Zody, 87, 11 Kimber Lane, died Wednesday afternoon, April 5, 2000, at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland, after a brief illness.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, with Pastor Terry Ruther officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 222 E. Main St., Loudonville 44842; or to Hayesville Fire Department Rescue Squad.
She was born July 20, 1912 in Bremen to Walter and Helen (Ballard) Davis and married Don E. Zody on June 16, 1940. He died in 1982.
Surviving are sons, Leslie Zody of Seattle, Wash., Stewart Zody and his wife, Shu-Yuan, of Loudonville and Edwin Zody of Hayesville; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Ruth Fuhrman of West Salem.

Connie Beech
WOOSTER -- Connie R. Beech, 54, of Horn Nursing Home in Wooster, formerly of Lakeville, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Lakeville United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Randy Weaver and William H. Valentine officiating. Burial will be at Ripley Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve.
The family suggests contributions be made to March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born Aug. 10, 1945 in Key West, Fla., to Lewis H. and Ruth E. (Baer) Beech.
Surviving are her parents of Lakeville; a sister, Kathy (Dixie) Dooley of Dayton; and a brother, Lewis H. "Bud" (Joanne) Beech Jr. of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

Robert Miller
CANTON -- Robert R. Miller, 75, of Canton, died Monday, April 3, 2000, at his home.
He was the father and father-in-law of Jeffrey A. and Veronica Miller of Wooster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Canton. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at Lamiell Funeral Home, 14th and Cleveland Avenue in Canton.
The family requests that contributions be made to St. John's Catholic Church; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born Sept. 26, 1924 to Arch R. and Carolyn (Jones) Miller and married Joan Dannemiller in December 1948, at St. John's Catholic Church in Canton. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Carolyn J. Miller of Vermilion, Daniel W. Miller of Columbus, and David R. Miller and his wife, Leigh Ann, of Canton; grandchildren, Hillary Miller of Wooster, Jordan and Lauren Miller, both of Canton; and all who in loving remembrance celebrate his life.

E. Gay Grogg
SHREVE -- E. Gay Grogg, 82, formerly of Millbrook Road, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Heritage Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Floyd Funeral Home in Weston, W.Va., where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Roanoke, W.Va.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, handled local arrangements.
She was born April 19, 1917 in Lewis County, W.Va., to Troxell M. and Ollie C. (Workman) Davis and married Thomas A. Grogg on July 31, 1937. He died Nov. 2, 1993.
Surviving are children, Mrs. Dan (Wanda) Aldrich of Jacksonville, Ark., Regina Burkhammer of Newport News, Va., Joy Varner and James T. Grogg, both of Shreve and Thomas A. Grogg of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Abe Beachy
MILLERSBURG -- Abe J. Beachy, 97, 4309 State Route 62, died Thursday April 6, 2000, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg, after an extended illness.
Services will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at the David Kauffman residence, 4540 State Route 62, Millersburg, with Bishop William Troyer officiating. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery in Holmes County.
Friends may call today (Friday) anytime after 3 at the residence. Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling arrangements.
He was born March 16, 1903 in Holmes County to Joe and Anna (Bontrager) Beachy and married Amanda Miller. She died May 31, 1986.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Crist (Anna) Kauffman and Elizabeth Raber, both of Millersburg; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Edna Mast
MILLERSBURG -- Edna C. Mast, 88, 4490 Township Road 156, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek, after a brief illness.
Services will be Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Andrew E. Raber residence, 4490 Township Road 156, Millersburg, with Bishop Andy M. Hershberger officiating. Burial will be at the Yoder Cemetery, Holmes County.
Friends may call today (Friday) after 3 at the residence. Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, is handling arrangements.
She was born Oct. 9, 1911 in Holmes County to Cornelius and Mary (Hershberger) Wengerd and married Mose E. Mast. He died in August 1982.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Jonas (Katie Ann) Miller of Fresno, Mrs. Joe (Edna) Schrock of Fredericksburg, Anna and Malinda Mast of Charm; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris Houser
MASSILLON -- Doris E. Houser, 76, 11787 Lockwood, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at her home.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oak Chapel United Methodist Church in Wooster, with the Revs. John G. McLachlan and David Harding officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 6-9 at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster.
Those who wish may make contributions to Aultman Hospice, 4510 Dressler Road, NW, Canton 44718; or to Oak Chapel United Methodist Church, 4203 W. Old Lincolnway, Wooster 44691.
She was born Aug. 19, 1923 in Wooster to Earl and Mary (Kreiling) Hines.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, James R. Houser; sons and their spouses, Tom and Char Houser of Westlake, Phil and Pat Houser and Don and Sue Houser, all of Massillon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruth Hines of Wooster and Marguerite Berry of Upper Sandusky.

Dinsmore Stockdale
MINERVA -- Dinsmore Stockdale, 79, 8472 Lowmiller Road, formerly of Wooster, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Great Trail Care Center.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minerva First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Eric Pasanchin officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Wayne Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Wooster.
Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home, 206 E. Lincolnway, Minerva.
Memorial contributions may be made to Minerva First Presbyterian Church; or to Hospice of Wayne County.
He was born May 20, 1920 in LaGrange, Ill., to Frank and Hattie (Dinsmore) Stockdale and married Lucille Mayfield. She died in 1994. On April 27, 1996, he married Gwendolyn (Polen) Barrick. She survives.
Other survivors include children and their spouses, Wendy and David Williams and Julie and David Conrad, all of Minerva, David and Jennifer Stockdale of Santa Maria, Calif., and Timothy and Terri Stockdale of Lorton, Va.; a stepson, Richard Barrick and his wife, Kaye, of St. Charles, Ill.; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Janetta) Carter of San Francisco; and a brother, John Stockdale and his wife, Betty, of Hebron.

Huldah Sheets
AKRON -- Huldah L. Sheets, 94, of Akron, formerly of Wayne County, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Springfield Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Steve Van Houten officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Canaan Township Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church. Hecker Funeral Home in Uniontown, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Church of the Brethren.
She was born in Wayne County.
Surviving are children and their spouses, Donald and Beverly Sheets, and Maxine and Sherwood Young; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Amanda Miller
BIG PRAIRIE -- Amanda Miller, 84, 12848 County Road 316, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Sunday at 10 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Adrian Byler officiating. Burial will be at Raber Cemetery, Ripley Township.
Friends may call anytime at the residence. Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home, in Shreve is handling arrangements.
She was born Aug. 11, 1915 in Holmes County to Menno and Lizzie (Yoder) Mast and married Henry A. Miller on Nov. 4, 1939. He died Sept. 23, 1982.
Surviving are children, Mose H. Miller of Fredericksburg, Mrs. Eli D. (Lizzie Ann) Stutzman of Apple Creek, Roy H. and Henry H. Miller, both of Danville, Atlee H. Miller of Holmesville and Yost H. Miller of the home; 43 grandchildren; 107 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Crist M. Mast of South Carolina.

Milford Swain
DOYLESTOWN -- Milford O. Swain, 79, of Doylestown, died Friday, April 7, 2000.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Stephen Kummernuss officiating. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown and Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service Military graveside services will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron 44333.
He was born Jan. 31, 1921 in Norton to Fred J. and Blanche (Beck) Swain and married Joan Lundquest on Nov. 8, 1947. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Lawrence Swain of Rittman; daughters, Brenda (Dan) Genet of City of Green, Christine (Richard) Watkins of Keene, N.H., Anitra (Steve) Devol of Anderson, S.C.; seven grandchildren; brothers, Ivan (Marianne) Swain of Florida, Melvin (Pearl) Swain of Wadsworth and sisters, Virginia (Charles) Knox of Portage Lakes, and Edith Witchey of Cincinnati.

Laurie Weaver
APPLE CREEK -- Laurie B. Weaver, infant daughter of Ben A. and Rachel M. (Miller) Weaver, 8877 Zuercher Road, Apple Creek, died shortly after birth, Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Akron General Medical Center in Akron.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hershberger Cemetery, Paint Township, Wayne County, with Bishop Ray Coblentz officiating.
Surviving in addition to her parents are three brothers, Benjamin Jr., Michael and Jeffrey Weaver, all of the home; grandparents, Vernon and Effie Miller of Baltic and Mattie Weaver of Apple Creek; great-grandparents, Ben J.P. Weaver of Fredericksburg, Mary Troyer of Apple Creek, Atlee and Edna Miller of Dundee, Melvin J. Yoder of Sugarcreek and Melvin and Clara Miller of Sugarcreek.

Robert Jaffray
WOOSTER -- Lt. Col. Robert M. Jaffray, 81, 1080 Country Club Drive No. 17, died Wednesday evening, April 5, 2000, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Rev. James Bean officiating. Cremation has taken place. A private interment of cremains will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691 or Mother's Against Drunk Drivers, P.O. Box 3128 Cuyahoga Falls 44223.
Mr. Jaffray was born Sept. 28, 1918 in Rochester, N.Y. to George W. and Amelia (Schaefer) Jaffray.
He married Marian B. Smith on Nov. 22, 1941 in Streator, Ill. She survives of Wooster.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Scott E. Jaffray of Wooster; daughters and son-in-law, Lynn and Bob Tucker of Boardman and Patricia Lowry of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren, Diana, Michelle and Scott Tucker, Shelly Lowry Harmon, Kerry Lowry and Christy Jaffray.

Ethel Lamson
WAPAKONETA -- Ethel E. Lamson, 90, formerly of Defiance Commons, Wapakoneta, died Friday, April 7, 2000, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moulton with the Rev. Daniel W. Fugate officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the aviary fund at Wapakoneta Manor.
She was born Feb. 17, 1910 in Auglaize County to Osborne and Nancy Captola (Brackney) Dudgeon and married Glenn C. Hittepole on Jan. 12, 1932. He died March 19, 1962. On Sept. 27, 1977, she married Dode Lamson. He died Jan. 28, 1980.
Surviving are a son, Garry M. (Becky) Hittepole of St. Johns; four daughters, Virginia (David) Hundley of Fort Wayne, Ind., Janet Copeland of Wapakoneta, Marilyn (Russell) Hofstetter of Shreve and Nancy (James) Myers of Wapakoneta; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a stepson, Chester (Dorothy) Hittepole of Wapakoneta; a stepdaughter, Farrell (Ralph) Kohlrieser of Wapakoneta and a sister, Myrtle Lietz of St. Marys.

Alfred Kaser
SUGARCREEK -- Alfred A. Kaser, 88, 355 4th St. S.W., died Friday, April 7, 2000, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek, after an extended illness.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with the Revs. Carlan Helgeson and Welton Stein officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek.
Friends may call tonight (Sunday) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the Dover Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Alpine Hills Museum.
He was born March 20, 1912 near New Bedford to Oscar and Ida (Steely) Kaser and married Pauline Reed on Oct. 20, 1936. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Dennis (Connie) Kaser and Les (Pat) Kaser, both of Sugarcreek and Ronald (Joann) Kaser of Dover; seven grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
