Ruby Martin
LAKEVILLE -- Ruby J. Martin, 67, 6159 State Route 514, died Thursday morning, Feb. 22, 2001, at her home, following a sudden illness.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Dan Kirtlan officiating. Burial will be at the Nashville Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Nashville Church of Christ Building Fund, Box 414, Nashville 44661 or Nashville Fire Department, Box 370, Nashville 44661.
She was born March 8, 1933, near Nashville, and was the daughter of Jacob E. and Sadie B. (Faler) Johnson. On June 5, 1951, she married Bernard L. "Bud" Martin and he survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three children and their spouses, Larry L. and Judy Martin of Millersburg, Jeffry L. and Regina Martin of Lakeville and Peggy S. and Scott Klingler of Medina; and six grandchildren, Amber and Jennifer Martin, Gretchen and Steven Klingler and Michael and Jason Martin.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence, Clyde, Walter and William Johnson; a sister, Lillie Canankamp; an infant brother, Charles and a half-sister, Ada Runyeon.

Willard Wilson
ASHLAND -- Willard Wilson, 81, 1355 Edgewood Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman with the Rev. J.A. Burton officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, P.O. Box 182039 Dept. 013, Columbus 43218-2039.
He was born May 22, 1919, in Genoa, W.Va., to Taylor and Annie (Ferguson) Wilson and married Susie Copley on Nov. 16, 1946. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a brother, Ross Wilson of Genoa, W.Va. and a sister, Dorothy Cline of Rittman.

Robert Rudy
WOOSTER -- Robert A. Rudy, 79, 1312 Nupp Drive, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 22, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ with the Rev. Glenn Royer officiating. Private Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Those who wish may contribute to Trinity United Church of Christ, 150 E. North St., Wooster or the Friends of Chapel Hill at Chapel Hill Community, Canal Fulton 44614.
Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home.
He was born May 29, 1921, in Dalton to Allen W. and Mandain (Beals) Rudy.
Surviving are children, Donald and Leslie Rudy of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Mrs. Charles (Kathleen) Pope of Elberta, Ala.; four grandchildren and a brother, Daniel L. Rudy of Dalton.

Carl Boley Sr.
SHREVE -- Carl E. Boley Sr., 68, 6410 Columbus Road, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m., at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Wingate officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, in care of Wooster Clinic, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Nov. 19, 1932, in Plain Township to John C. and Geneva H. (Gordon) Boley.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Marie Moore, whom he married Feb. 4, 1953; children, Carl E. and Sang Boley Jr. of Shreve, Michael James and Kelly Boley of Shreve, Deborah Sue Hamilton of Vinita, Okla., Christina Marie and Andrew Coblentz of Moreland; eight grandchildren, Teresa, Linda, Mikey, Mandy, Angela, Andrea, Tyler, Gabrielle; a great-grandchild, Morgan; brothers, Robert Boley and Dean Boley, both of Shreve, Marvin Boley of Crescent City, Fla. and John Boley of Kansas and a sister, Reva Stetler of Marshallville.

Dorothy Hummell
SUGARCREEK -- Dorothy Hummell, 85, 220 5th St., died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, of natural causes at her residence.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with the Rev. Barry French officiating. Burial will be at Dover Burial Park in Dover.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church.
She was born July 10, 1915, in Dover, to Peter and Florence (Wegele) Maurer and married A. Horace Hummell. He died Sept. 6, 1994.
Surviving are a daughter, Sinda Persons of Canton; a son, Pete (Bonnie) Maurer of Dover; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lena Kramer
ASHLAND -- Lena Erika Kramer, born July 9, 1977, in Akron, went to meet her maker on Thursday morning, Feb. 22, 2001, as the result of an auto accident near Napoleon.
She is survived by her parents, Roger and Amy Kramer of Cinnamon Lake; her sister, Kara Kramer of Cleveland; her paternal grandparents, Robert and Jeanne Kramer of Norwalk; her maternal grandmother, Mary Jacqueline Semonin of Stow; her special friend, Brian Bauer of Fort Wayne, Ind. and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be at Walker Funeral Home in Norwalk on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 2-6 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Norwalk, with burial immediately following at St. Paul's Cemetery in Norwalk.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lena's memory may be made to either Regnum Christi at Mater Ecclesiae, in care of Lena Kramer Memorial Fund, 4780 Tower Hill Road, Wakefield, R.I. 02879 or Legionnaires of Christ, in care of Lena Kramer Memorial Fund, 475 Oak Ave., Cheshire, Conn. 06410.

Elizabeth Ewan
WOOSTER -- Elizabeth J. Ewan, 82, 203 Palmer St., died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at her residence.
Private service of Christian Burial will be at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
There will be no calling hours.
She was born June 16, 1918, in Wooster, to Sabatino and Theresa (Delafave) Sandora.
She married Wilbur Ewan on Nov. 21, 1940. He died previously.
Survivors include children, Stan (Elizabeth) Ewan of Wooster, Gloria (Kirby) Tracey of Apple Creek; grandchildren, Jennifer and Matthew Tracey of Apple Creek; several nephews, nieces and cousins, a brother, Anthony (Ruth) Sandore of Wooster and three sisters.

Sherry Zimmerman
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Sherry (Carter) Zimmerman, 51, of Newport News, Va. and formerly of Orrville, died Thursday evening, Feb. 15, 2001, at her home.
She was cremated and her ashes were scattered on the ocean.
She was born Aug. 13, 1949, in Barberton, to Dick and Jane (Schram) Carter.
Surviving are her parents of Clermont, Fla.; a son, Kevin Covert and his wife, Becky of Wooster; two grandchildren; two brothers, Greg Carter of Bonners Ferry, Idaho and Bob Carter of Apple Creek; maternal grandmother, Lillie Lyle of Barberton and a nephew.

Edna Smeltzer
ASHLAND -- Edna L. Aber Smeltzer, 84, of County Road 1475, died Friday morning, Feb. 23, 2001, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, after a long illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 123 W. Third St., Ashland, with the Rev. Richard Boyer, Pastors Paul Ritchey and Dale Smeltzer officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park.
Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Ashland.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church or Paradise Hill United Methodist Church.
Roberts Funeral Home in Wooster is handling arrangements.
She was born June 6, 1916, in Ashland, to Ira and Iva (Barrone) Morr and married Parke M. Aber on Dec. 24, 1934. He died June 9, 1968. She then married Jacob Ray Smeltzer on Sept. 4, 1971. He survives.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Rex and Maryanne Aber of Largo, Fla. and Roger and Tracy Aber of Springboro; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Linda Smeltzer of Ashland; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Rob Scott of Greenfield, Ind., and Marlene and Ron Armstrong of Perrysville; seven grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Gerald Shakley
WEST SALEM -- Gerald R. Shakley, 87, of West Salem, died Thursday evening, Feb. 22, 2001, at Smithville-Western Care Center in Wooster.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastors Robert Holmes and Martha Mathatas officiating. Burial will be at West Salem Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Town and Country Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 175, West Salem 44287 or United Methodist Church, 80 E. Buckeye St., West Salem 44287.
He was born March 2, 1913, in West Salem, to Arthur and Leola (Gault) Shakley.
Surviving are his wife Iris (Mann) Shakley, whom he married June 21, 1939 in West Salem; a daughter, Joanne Hodkinson of Wooster; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister, Lois Garn of Wooster.

Garry Clinage
MILLERSBURG -- Garry Lee Clinage, 57, of Millersburg, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 20, 2001, at Sunset View Nursing Home, Millersburg, following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Nashville Cemetery with the Rev. Thom White officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Millersburg American Legion and Killbuck Veterans of Foreign Wars.
There will be no calling hours.
Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, is handling arrangements.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Holmes County Hospice, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg 44654 or Welcome Church of Christ, 4895 Township Road 257, Millersburg 44654.
He was born March 23, 1943, in Millersburg, to Howard and Nellie (Cline) Clinage.
Surviving are his mother, Nellie Martin and her husband, Don Martin of Big Prairie; two sons, Dustin Matthew Gilfoil of Columbus and Dannie Lee Clinage of Augusta, Ga. and a half-sister, Dawn and her husband, Steven Gamertsfelder of Millersburg.

Walter Baum
BREWSTER -- Walter C. Baum, 80, of Brewster, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 21, 2001, at his home, following a period of declining health.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church with Father Robert Gibas officiating. Cremation will follow.
Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster where a prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Clements Tuition Fund.
He was born Jan. 25, 1921, in Sandusky, to Henry and Amelia (Rader) Baum and married Norma Wise on April 16, 1946. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Patricia Winkhart of Navarre, Mrs. Gene (Joanne) Bressi of Canton, Mrs. Don (Theresa) Breniser of Massillon, and Beverly Via of Brewster; two sons, Gerald "Mort" Baum of Navarre, and Thomas "Pete" Baum of Brewster; nine grandchildren and a brother, Emerson Baum of Sandusky.

Arthur Bauman
RITTMAN -- Arthur W. Bauman, 77, of Rittman, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 21, 2001, at the Apostolic Christian Home.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Milton Presbyterian Church in Rittman with the Rev. Richard A. Lapehn officiating. Burial will be in the Apostolic Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion, P. O. Box 542, Rittman 44270.
Arrangements are being handled by Gillman Funeral Home, Rittman.
He was born on Jan. 18, 1924, in Rittman, to Sem and Josephine (Bachman) Bauman and married Donna Jeanne (Gault) Bauman on Nov. 21, 1948. She died on March 14, 2000.
Surviving are a son, John (Cassi) Bauman of West Chester; grandchildren, Kirsten and Chad Bauman; brother, Marvin Bauman of Rittman; sisters, Marjorie Weber of Rittman, Mrs. Roger (Evelyn) Hessidence of Rittman, and Mrs. Leon (Janet) Graf of Wadsworth and several nieces and nephews.

Perry Miller
WALNUT CREEK -- Perry J. Miller, 81, of Walnut Creek and formerly of Mount Hope, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Walnut Hills Retirement Community, following a period of declining health.
Services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the Mose H. Beachy residence, 4801 County Road 229, with Bishop Albert A. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Troyer Cemetery, Salt Creek Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call anytime at the Beachy residence.
Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Holmes County, to Joe S. and Lydia (Coblentz) Miller and married Malinda Troyer on Feb. 12, 1942. She died April 19, 1992.
He is survived by eight children, Mrs. Dan A. (Erma) Hershberger and Joe (Lizzie) Miller, both of Berlin, Elizabeth Miller, Mrs. Mose H. (Elnora) Beachy, both of Mount Hope, Mrs. John L. (Esther) Schlabach of Winesburg, Paul (Vicki) Miller of Wellington, Mose Miller of Sarasota, Fla., and Roy (Myrna) Miller of Sugarcreek; 32 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Flickinger
ORRVILLE -- Ruth J. Flickinger, 74, 1503 Harding Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Orrville, following a long period of declining health.
Graveside services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville with the Rev. Dennis Rinehart officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is in charge of arrangements.
Contributions may be made to Wayne County Visiting Nurse Service, 470 E. Milltown Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born Aug. 26, 1926, in Cleveland, to Ernest A. and Martha (Pitt) Baehr and married Paul Flickinger on June 20, 1944 in Dalton. He died March 23, 1988.
She is survived by sons, Paul "Andy" (Wendy) Flickinger and David T. Flickinger of Orrville; John A. (Marita) Flickinger and Daniel B. (Loretta) Flickinger of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Ted (Renee) Flickinger of Wooster; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Monroe Wengerd
MASSILLON -- Monroe L. Wengerd, 82, of Massillon, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Massillon Community Hospital, following a brief illness.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton with the Rev. Leslie Peine officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home where an Eagles Lodge services will be at 5:45 p.m.
He was born Nov. 16, 1918, near Winesburg, to L. I. and Mary T. (Weaver) Wengerd and married Anna A. Heidman on July 17, 1947. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Ada) Wade of Massillon; two brothers, Eli Wengerd of Sebring, Fla. and Henry Wengerd of Canton.

Dr. J.B. Starkey Sr.
PERRYSVILLE -- Dr. J.B. Starkey Sr., 67, of Perrysville, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at the home of his son, David B. Starkey in Wellington, following a brief illness.
Services will be Saturday, Feb. 24, at Heyl Funeral Home, Ashland, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Jack B. Starkey Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday, Feb. 23, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National College of Chiropractic, 200 E. Roosevelt Road, Lombard, Ill. 60148 or Ashland County Humane Society.
Dr. Starkey was born Sept. 24, 1933, in New Philadelphia, to Otis and Zella (Click) Starkey.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Jack B. Starkey Jr. and Kathy of Ashland, Dr. Michael B. Starkey and Jane of Chandler, Ariz., and Dr. David B. Starkey and Penny of Wellington. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three sisters, Patricia, Karen and Sheila.

Marguerite Matthews
WOOSTER -- Marguerite Matthews, 82, 303 Bardon St., died Tuesday evening, Feb. 20, 2001, at Wayne County Care Center.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home with the Rev. Eli Troyer officiating. Burial will be at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Savannah, to Harry and Mary Gardner and married Alva Matthews. He died May 25, 2000.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Helen Weltmer of Fredericksburg; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Virginia Moffet of Florida and Katie Hughes of Washington State.

Walter Speheger
BLUFFTON, Ind. -- Walter W. Speheger, 90, 6606 E. 100 N., died Monday evening, Feb. 19, 2001.
He was the brother of Marie Ritzman of Rittman.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Apostolic Christian Church East in Bluffton, Ind. Burial will be at Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 6-8 and Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, 3220 E. State Road 124, Bluffton, Ind.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Care Center or Hospice of Northeast Indiana.
He was born April 2, 1910, in Wells County, Bluffton, to Benjamin and Eliza (Dubach) Speheger and married Mary McAfee on Aug. 6, 1941 in Bluffton, Ind. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Stevan Speheger of Lafayette, Ind., and Susan (Donnie) Tinnel of Wayland, Mich.; three grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and one step-great-granddaughter.
