Joe Homer Brown

93 year old Joe Homer Brown of Rock Island died Friday at the Rain Tree Manor of Warren County. He was a farmer and a member of the New Bybee's Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Tim Lewis will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Vell LeFever Brown and wife Sally Hendrixson Brown. Survivors include a son, Bill Brown of Georgia; a daughter, Patty Jean Brown of McMinnville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Alice Marie Colvert

83 year old Alice Marie Colvert of Smithville died Thursday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was an ASCS office secretary and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She also played piano for the Community Chorus. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Town Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Harrison and Mabel Eller Colvert. She is survived by several cousins. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Carleton Francis Armbruster

85 year old Carleton Francis Armbruster of Watertown died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. The body is at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria where a memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at Avant Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara C. Armbruster of Watertown. Three sons, Robert C. and Jerry Armbruster, Sr. of Merritt Island, Florida; Roger Thomas Armbruster of Watertown and Gary and Pat Armbruster of Merritt Island, Florida. A sister, Vivian Hilt of Simsbury, Connecticut. Avant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Gregory Dale Edwards

46 year old Gregory Dale Edwards of Smithville died Saturday at his residence. He was a painter and a member of the Haywood Hills Baptist Church in Nashville. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Jason Lohorn will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jeffery Darryl Edwards. Survivors include his parents, Charles and Shirley Edwards of Liberty. A sister, Dana and her husband Butch Davis of Dowelltown. A brother, Glenn Edwards of Nashville. A niece, Bethany Davis of Dowelltown. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Clifton Arvie "Cliff" Maynard

66 year old Clifton Arvie "Cliff" Maynard of White Bluff died Saturday at the Horizon Medical Center. A graveside service will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Nosegay Cemetery. Buck Allan will officiate. He is survived by his wife, Digna Maynard of White Bluff. A son, Trevis Maynard of Liberty. Two daughters, Connie Maynard and Sandra D. Wonner both of White Bluff. Two brothers, Gearl Maynard of Nashville and Marshall Maynard of Brush Creek. Sisters, Naomie Malone of Mount Juliet, Keeble Thweatt of Smithville, Sally Jones of Liberty, Shirley Wright of Nashville, Sybil Waite of Murfreesboro, and Barbara Crague of Madison. Seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson is in charge of the arrangements. There will be no public visitation.

Jairon D. Spencer

67 year old Jairon D. Spencer of McMinnville died Thursday at his daughter's residence. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a former employee of Goodyear, Vaughn Nursery, and Haley Nursery. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Keith Young will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dewey and Ocie Curtis Spencer. He is survived by daughters, Chancy and her husband Matthew Woodside of McMinnville and Marcy and her husband Joe Cherry of King George, Virginia. Grandchildren, Justice, Garrett, Kate, Joseph, Rebekah, Jonathan, and David. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie and husband Ray Terrell of Hermitage and Montie and husband Bass Estes of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Kidney Foundation, in memory of Mr. Spencer.

Berniece Marcum Jackson

86 year old Berniece Marcum Jackson of McMinnville died Friday at her residence of an extended illness. She was born in White County. Jackson was also a retired employee of the McMinnville Garment Company and a member of the Newtown The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Spring Hill The Baptist Church in White County. Howard Hooper, Leslie Moore, and James Wright will officiate and burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. The Jackson family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Spring Hill The Baptist Church. Jackson was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Bessie Knowles Marcum; sisters, Katherine Marcum and Reba Tindell; and brothers, Reed and John Marcum. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Hobert E. Jackson of McMinnville. Sons, Paul D. Jackson of Orlando, Florida and Donald E. Jackson of McMinnville. A daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Calvin D. Jones of McMinnville. Brothers, Alton and Pearle Marcum, Meril and Ruby Marcum, and Earl Marcum all of White County. Four grandchildren, Jim Blankenship, Donna Overall, Jeremy Jackson, and Jennifer Jackson. Six great grandchildren, Justin, Cody, Abagail, Rachel, Alec, and Adain, and several nieces and nephews. J.W. Pollard

75 year old J.W. Pollard of the Peeled Chestnut Community died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was the former owner of BeeJay Apparel, Incorporated, Pollard Enterprises, Hummingbird Aircraft Charter Service, a partner in Sligo Boat Dock and FBO operator of the Sparta White County Airport and Pollard Farms. Pollard was a U.S. Army veteran and he attended the Smithville Church of God. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Farr and Robin Phillips will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Beulah Mosley Pollard, Sr.; his father and mother-in-law, Casto and Josie Puckett; sister-in-law, Donavee Puckett; brother-in-law, Glynn Webb; a nephew, Jeff Garrett; and a great nephew, Josiah Graden Kirksey. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bettye Puckett Pollard of the Peeled Chestnut Community of DeKalb County. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Morris Puckett of Sparta, Marie Webb, Keith and Hilda Garrett, Jerry and Carolyn Tramel, and Gail Kirksey. Nieces, Nena Daily, Tina Puckett, and Martha Kirksey. Nephews, Scott and his wife Kelly Garrett, Todd and his wife Sharon Webb, Chris and his wife Bethany Tramel, Josh and his wife Leslie Tramel, and Graden and his wife Sabrina Kirksey. Great nieces and nephews, Claire Garrett, Aaron Puckett, Austin and Sloane Garrett, Katie and Sam Daily, Anna and Cynthia Webb, Andrew and Carson Tramel and Silas Kirksey. Special cousins, Vern and Erma Hawn, Frances Hernandez, and Brook and Pam Townsend. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made to either the Jeff Garrett Scholarship Fund or to the Smithville Church of God.

88 year old Dixie Ashford Beckham died Friday at NHC in Smithville. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, a homemaker, and she worked for many years in a garment factory. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Leonard Herman and B.J. Thomason will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Spiral Wade and Bettie Cook Herman; husbands, Valter Ashford and Hobert Cripps, a grandson, Darrell Wade Ashford; brothers, Alvie, Hooper, and Bail Herman; and sisters, Vera Adamson, Belvie Hale, Mallie B. Parker, Maggie Bell Cook, and Aline Parker. Survivors include her husband, Ralph Beckham of Smithville. Sons, Harold and his wife Bryna Ashford of Alexandria and Wade and his wife Karen Ashford of Gassaway. A step-son, Jacky Beckham of Smithville. Grandchildren, Larry and his wife Angie Ashford, Vallerie and husband Steve Womack, Dwayne and wife Karlee Ashford, and Cory Ashford. Great grandchildren, Lydia Ashford, Faith and Levi Womack, Colby and Shianne Ashford and Heather Jenkins. Great great grandchildren, Piper Mabe and Koda Jenkins and many nieces and nephews. 62 year old James William Casey of Jupiter, Florida died Monday at the JFK Medical Center in Florida. He worked at Home Depot. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bratten Tucker will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Casey was preceded in death by his father, Edward Casey. He is survived by his mother, Juanita Neal Casey of Smithville. A brother, John and his wife Alicia Casey of Florida. A sister, Beulah and her husband Steve Joiner of Texas. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Dwight Knowles will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson cemetery in DeKalb County. The Roberts family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. He is survived by his mother, Martha Sue Roberts of McMinnville. A brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Jeannie Roberts of Warner Robins, Georgia. A nephew, Joshua Roberts. A niece, Amber and Joshua Whitson. An uncle and an aunt, Hubert and Carolyn Turner and aunts, Eula Dean Jones, Evelyn and Mike Younglove, Audean and Ernie Pack, and Elsie Turner.
