Ruby Louise Harris
78, retired school custodian

Funeral for Ruby Louise Harris, 78, of Decatur will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Richard Black officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens with Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Harris died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at her home.

She was born Sept. 16, 1922, in Limestone County to Lee Andrew Brown and May Belle Presnell Brown. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was the widow of Thomas A. Harris and a retired Decatur City Schools custodian.

Survivors include three sons, Charles W. Harris of Decatur, James A. Harris of Athens and Jerry W. Harris of Killen; two daughters, Annie L. Campbell of Athens and Linda G. Harris of Decatur; two brothers, Samuel L. Brown and William G. Brown, both of Decatur; one sister, Eavy Mae Green of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.

William 'Tommy' Hill
66, retired fireman

CULLMAN -- Funeral for William "Tommy" Hill, 66, of Fairview will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home with the Rev. Carol Drinkard officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Addison. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hill died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 6, 1934, in Winston County to Jim Hill and Arness Stewart Hill. He was a retired Fairview fireman.

Survivors include his wife, Gwendall Bailey Hill; one son, William Anthony "Bill" Hill of Cullman; three daughters, Cindy Hill Thomas and Joy Barbee Rolling, both of Cullman, and Sherry Helms of Hartselle; two brothers, Lawton Doyle Moore of Double Springs and Raymond Hill of Fort Myers, Fla.; three sisters, Leonia Box of Addison, Flora Mae Bell of Double Springs and Fanny Brown of Live Oak, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Thomas R. King

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Thomas R. King, 65, of Athens was to be today at 1 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Inman officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mr. King died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center in Decatur.

He was born Feb. 25, 1936, in Limestone County to Hagan King and Leear King. He was a member of Sardis Springs Baptist Church. He was the brother of Lonnie E. King.

Survivors include two brothers, William G. King of Athens and Charles W. King of Elkmont; two sisters, Martha K. Pirtle and Ruby Hall, both of Athens,

Pallbearers were to be J.C. Pirtle, John C. Pirtle Jr., Glen King, Lester A. Nelson, Jerry Hall and Joey Hall.

Junior Ray McKinney
55, former S & S nursery employee

ATHENS -- Funeral for Junior Ray McKinney, 55, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Doug Calwald officiating.

Burial was to be in Pleasant Point Cemetery.

Mr. McKinney died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at his home.

He was born July 3, 1945, in Limestone County. He was a former employee of S & S Nurseries and a member of the Alabama National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Doris McKinney; three sons, Johnny McKinney, Jay Jay McKinney and Dennis McKinney, all of Athens; one daughter, Stacy Wallace of Athens; his parents, John and Ozell McKinney of Athens; three brothers, Buddy McKinney of Fayetteville, Tenn., and Don McKinney and Richard McKinney, both of Tanner; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Bradley McKinney, Ricky McKinney, David McKinney, Barry McKinney, Larry Legg and Jason Legg.

Michael Glenn Smartt

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Michael Glenn Smartt, 41, of Hartselle will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Pine Street Independent Baptist Church in Falkville with the Rev. Roger Ammons and the Rev. Milton Garrison officiating.

Burial will be in Morris Cemetery in Lawrence County with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smartt died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at his residence.

He was born July 19, 1959, in Morgan County to John Thomas Smartt and Beatrice Toseland Smartt. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include three brothers, Tom Smartt of Hartselle, Joey Lindley of Vinemont and Phillip Lindley of Gadsden; five sisters, Pat Couch and Elaine Riddle, both of Hartselle, Sherry Rector of Charlotte, N.C., Linda Smartt of Decatur and Beverly Billman of Otsego, Mich.; three stepsisters, Linda Suddith of Falkville, Lola Abbott of Logan and Mildred Hill of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Couch, Jason Potts, Robert Simmons, Wayne Simmons, Johnny Swims and Timothy Swims.

Harry Albert Stinson
92, jewelry salesman

Graveside service for Harry Albert Stinson, 92, of Decatur was to be today at 2 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family was to receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Stinson died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 28, 1908, in Decatur to Orlander Wooster Stinson and Mable Irene Transue Stinson.

A jewelry salesman, he was a member of Decatur Rising Sun Lodge No. 29 and served in the U.S. Navy.

Joe Fred Watkins
71, Monsanto retiree

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Joe Fred Watkins, 71, of Somerville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Dewitt Crow officiating.

Burial will be in Center Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Watkins died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center.

He was born April 2, 1930, in Morgan County to Gegolia Fred Watkins and Ethel I. Dunaway Watkins. He was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. He was retired from Monsanto. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Charest Watkins; two daughters, Judy Blackwood of Massey and Gail Day of Somerville; one stepdaughter, Kim Hazel of Somerville; one brother, Franklin Watkins of Somerville; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Williams, Glen Williams, Kenneth Selby, Ronnie Bullard, Cecil Davis and Larry Allen.

Norma Smith Wright
87, retired fabric cutter

ATHENS -- Funeral for Norma Smith Wright, 87, of Athens will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Fudge officiating.

Burial will be in Legg Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wright died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital East.

She was born Aug. 25, 1913, in Limestone County to Miles Colter Smith and Grace Mary Haney Smith. She was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. She was a retired fabric cutter from Athens Lingerie.

Survivors include two sons, Tom Ed Wright of Athens and Miles Wright of Decatur; two daughters, Doris Wright Gafford of Meridianville and Betty Norwood of Elkmont; three sisters, Lois Harrison and Geneva Elliott, both of Athens, and Leora Putman of Elkmont; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Wright, Freddy Wright, Billy Black, Don Gafford, Roger Elliott and Anthony Thornton.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Virginia L. Johnson
83, homemaker

Funeral for Virginia L. Johnson, 83, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Bellview Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 4, 1917, in Alabama to George W. Brand and Jessie Brand. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Hershel E. Johnson of Decatur; two daughters, Edna Kirk of Decatur and Viola Flanagan of Moulton; two sisters, Mary Johnson of Trinity and Katherine McGowens of Nashville; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Hershel Flanagan, Kenneth Grissom, Robert Rhodes, Charlie Terry, Coleman Tippett and Andy Rice.

Robert Lee Lewter
67, truck driver

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Robert Lee Lewter, 67, of Ardmore will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Brister officiating.

Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lewter died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at his home. He was born Feb. 20, 1934, in Ardmore to John Lewter and Lena Long Lewter. He was retired as a truck driver. He was the father of the late Tommy Lewter, Leanord Lewter, Omie Bailey and Edith Mae "Josie" Lewter.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Tedder; one son, Chris Lewter of Ardmore; two daughters, Linda Silcox of Marianna Fla., and Toni Powell of Sebring, Fla.; four brothers, Ralph Lewter and Wayne Lewter, both of Winter Haven, Fla., Dwight Lewter of Gainesville, Fla., and Billy Joe Lewter of Ardmore; two sisters, Doris Houk and Jean Wilford, both of Winter Haven; and five grandchildren.

Mary Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Green hill Montgomery
81, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Green hill Montgomery, 81, of Moulton will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Windell Ennett officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Montgomery died Friday, April 6, 2001, at her home. She was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Lawrence County to Richard B. Green hill and Ella Flannigan Green hill. She was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She was the mother of the late Jimmy Dayton Montgomery and Helen M. Jeffers.

Survivors include her husband, E.D. Montgomery Jr.; one son, Larry Montgomery of Moulton; two daughters, Hilda M. Terry of Moulton and Wilda Ann Frost of Decatur; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.
