Clyde Hampton

HAMPTON, Clyde Mancle, (MSgt, USAF Ret’d), 74, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at a Montgomery hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Chip Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Hampton proudly served his country for 22 years as a Veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War and the Vietnam War and was the recipient of several awards and commendations, including the Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by two devoted spouses, Estelle Hampton and Mary Frances Hampton. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Clyde Eric and Louise Hampton, Wetumpka, AL; one daughter, Regina Gail Hampton, Montgomery, AL; two grandchildren, Wendy Hosford and her spouse, Tim Hosford, Montgomery, AL, and Jacob Hampton, Troy, AL; one brother, Clint Hampton, and several nieces and nephews, including, Kenneth Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer Association of North Alabama, 3322 South Memorial Parkway, Suite 216, Huntsville, AL 35801. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Anne Hall

HALL, Anne G., 77, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2006, at a Montgomery hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2006, at 3:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Steven Muzio officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Hall was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an active member of the Millbrook Presbyterian Church and well appreciated for her many years of dedicated service as their secretary. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Jimmie Hall, Prattville, AL; two daughters, Cheryl Ritchey, Birmingham, AL, Carla Reid and her husband, MSgt John Reid, Honolulu, Hawaii; one son, Steven Hall, Prattville, AL; five grandchildren, Joshua Hughes, Ty Baker, Rachel Baker, Amanda Reid, and Susannah Ritchey; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Millbrook Presbyterian Church, c/o The Stewardship Fund, P. O. Box 426, Millbrook, AL 36054. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel one hour prior to her service on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.

Frances Jones Duncan

DUNCAN, Frances Jones, 79, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2008. A memorial service will be held on Monday January 14, 2008, at 12:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial with Reverend Mike Grindle and Dr. Travis Coleman officiating; Prattville Memorial Chapel Directing Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her husband, Shrimp Duncan. She is survived by two daughters, Marion Dunlap and Cheryl (Mark) Graham; two sisters, Tharon McKinney and Billie Jean (Nic) Dismukes; seven grandchildren, Kim (Ken) Dismukes, Kelli (James) Petrunic, Dawn (Alex) Sewell, Michael (Stephanie) Sewell, Scott (Michelle) Graham, Daniel Graham, and Sarah (Brian) Wilson; ten great-grandchildren, Hunter, Tanner, Garrett, Faith, Hope, Austin, Skylar, Dylan, Alyssa, and Astrid and numerous other relatives. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent one’s favorite charity. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Evelyn Dodd

DODD, Evelyn Aultman, 68, died peacefully at her home in Prattville, AL, on Friday morning, October 29, 2004, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 1, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Minister Brent Missildine officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Dodd is survived by her beloved spouse, John P. “Rusty” Dodd; one daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Allen Simmons; one son, John P. Dodd, II, and daughter-in-law, Edie Dodd, all of Prattville, AL; five grandchildren, Ty Simmons, Christopher Simmons, Brittany Dodd, David Dodd, and Matthew Dodd; her parents, Roscoe and Willie Dee Aultman, Eldridge, AL; and one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Virginia Aultman, Birmingham, AL. Pallbearers will be Ty Simmons, Christopher Simmons, Paul Lugen, Webb Smith, Gabriel Aultman, Farrell Aultman, and Sid Aultman. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Jerome Garrett

GARRETT, Jerome Edward, 58, a native of Louisiana, and current resident of Sterrett, AL, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 8, 2007. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. Garrett proudly served his country as a Veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lennox and Lori Garrett, Slidell, LA; one daughter, Anna Elizabeth Garrett, Santa Barbara, CA; two grandchildren, Makayla and Jon Ryan; and one brother and sister-in-law, John and Marilyn Garrett, Gulfport, MS.

William Thurman Hallman

HALLMAN, William Thurman, 94, a resident of Autaugaville, AL, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 9, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., from the Autaugaville Baptist Church, with Pastor Garner Clark, Reverend Paul McNeese, and Chaplain Robert Sandifer officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Hill Cemetery, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Hallman was born February 21, 1914, to the late William Henry Hallman and Martha Elizabeth Denney. He was a graduate of the University of West Alabama, formerly, Livingston State College, and Texas A&M; University. He proudly served his country during World War II as a Lieutenant of the United States Navy followed by a career as an educator and farmer. He was a Master Mason of Lodge #89 in Prattville for over 50 years; a charter member of the Autaugaville Lion’s Club for more than 50 years, and a member of the Autaugaville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and teacher for over 75 years. He also served on the Autauga County School Board as Chairperson for 12 years and served on the Autauga County ALFA Board of Directors for over 25 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Vivian S. Hallman; one son, William Stanford Hallman; two sisters, Martha Elizabeth Hallman and Lurene Lawrence; and one brother, Charlie Miles Hallman. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Kevin McGill, Chula Vista, CA, Patricia and Dr. Johnnie Wheat, Northport, AL; one son, Paul Richard Hallman, Millbrook, AL; one daughter-in-law, Sarah Wyatt Hallman, Autaugaville, AL; 11 grandchildren, Emily Wheat Butt, Holly Hallman, Scotty Hallman, Stan Hallman, Tony Hallman, Brian McGill, Misty Hallman Sheffield, Maureen McGill Sklaroff, Tammy Hallman Starnes, David Wheat, and Jeremy Wheat; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Ann Marie Kenney, Houston, TX; and one brother, Henry Jackson (Ethlene) Hallman, Wilsonville, AL. Pallbearers will be grandsons Scotty Hallman, Stan Hallman, Tony Hallman, David Wheat, and Jeremy Wheat. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to his service from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Auburn University Foundation, William Hallman Scholarship Endowment, c/o Auburn Alumni Center, 317 South College Street, Auburn, AL 36849, or to one’s favorite charity. Special appreciation is extended to SouthernCare Hospice and to Mr. Hallman’s private caregivers, Della, Liz, Betty, Chevelle, and Ruby, for their dedicated care and compassion; and to his long-time housekeeper, Earlene Howard.

Betty Holloway

HOLLOWAY, Betty Bates, 71, a resident of Prattville, AL, died unexpectedly on Friday, October 14, 2005, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., from The First Baptist Church in Prattville, AL, with Dr. Travis Coleman and Dr. Leroy Stringfield officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Holloway was born in Bullock County where she lived for a time before moving to Pike County. She was a graduate of Troy University and did graduate work at the University of Alabama and Auburn University. She retired from the Autauga County School System after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Autauga County Retired Teachers’ Association and the National Education Association. She was also an active member of First Baptist Church in Prattville, AL, where she taught an Adult Sunday School Class. She is survived by her beloved spouse, Bob R. Holloway, Sr.; one son, Bob R. Holloway, Jr., both of Prattville, AL; one daughter and son-in-law, Tonya Jean and Jeffrey A. McGehee, Vestavia Hills, AL; and one sister, Rena G. Howard, Columbus, GA. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Betty Holloway Ladies Sunday School Class and Pete Walden’s Men’s Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church, 138 South Washington Street, Prattville, AL 36067. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Susan FLEMING

FLEMING, Susan Simpson, a resident of Prattville, AL, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2005, at the age of 44. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2005, with Assistant Pastor Art Long officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Ms. Fleming is survived by her parents, Jack and Sally Simpson, Prattville, AL; a sister, Lisa DeVaney, Ft. Walton Beach, FL; one niece, Darbie (Chris) Brown; one nephew, Austin DeVaney; a great-nephew, Jakob Brown, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
