Ralph Hart

HART, Ralph David, 79, a resident of Tallassee, AL, died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 22, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with James Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Hart proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Air Force. He later retired from International Paper (formerly Union Camp) after 25 years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gladys Marie Hart; and four brothers, Robert Hart, Enoch Hart, Lee Hart, and Paul Hart. He is survived by two daughters, Marcia (Chuck) Garrett and Cynthia (Charles) Bishop; two sons, James (Lavonne) Hart and Max Hart; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Tingen and Frances (Bobby) Clark; and four brothers, L. D. Hart, Clarence Hart, Charles Hart, and Willie Hart. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Wetzel, Cody Garrett, Chris Hart, Seth Hart, Joel Hart, and Micah Hart. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Hart and Caleb Hart. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel two hours prior to his service on Saturday from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m.

Ozelle Hollinger

HOLLINGER, Ozelle, 82, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Sunday May 6, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 1:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Gary Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Hollinger was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Granville Hollinger, and one grandson, Mark Patterson. She is survived by three daughters, Peggy (Glenn) Tracey, Patsy Patterson, and Brenda (James) Dennis; four sons, Leroy (Janie) Hollinger, David (Linda) Hollinger, C. A. (Betty) Hollinger, and Dennis (Margaret) Hollinger; 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Marshall Hollinger, Chris Duke, William Dennis, Keith Patterson, David Hollinger, and Robert Hollinger. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Wilbur Gaines

GAINES, Wilbur Edwin, 74, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Gaines proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Navy during the Korean War. He later retired from the Department of Defense with the United States Government. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post 122 and The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1349. He is survived by his special friend and caregiver, Sandra J. Gaines; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Ricky Bradley; one son, Joel Gaines; one granddaughter; Lyne Marie Bradley; two nieces, Jan Slatton and Marion Heck; one nephew, Robert Gaines, Jr.; one great-niece, Carmen Slatton; and one great-nephew, Josh Goff. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

John Howard

HOWARD, John Wilson, 69, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2004, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, with The Reverend Stephen DeGweck officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Dr. Howard was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, Class of 1952, and was in the Sidney Lanier Marching Band. He earned a B. S. Degree from Auburn University; a Masters Degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. He was an avid reader and a sports fan, following the Chicago Cubs and the Kentucky Wildcats. He honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force Security Service from 1955 – 1959 as a Vietnamese and Indonesian linguist. Following his military tour of duty, he was a Foreign Language Specialist with the State of Alabama Board of Education. He retired after 25 years of service. He is survived by his beloved spouse of 42 years, Ann Howard; one daughter, Katherine Adair, both of Prattville, AL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Courtney Howard, Virginia Beach, VA, Quinn and Lisa Howard, Smyrna, GA; nine grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Bob Bryant, Marietta, GA; and several nephews and one niece. Pallbearers will be Bob Bent, Al Booth, John Dunbar, Glen Grant, Bob Gray and Jim Massey. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be sent to the Autauga-Prattville Public Library, 254 Doster Street, Prattville, AL 36067. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Allie Lucien Granthum

GRANTHUM, “Coach” Allie Lucien, 71, a resident of Titus, AL, died peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2004, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Neal Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Granthum honorably served his country as a Veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War era. Following his military tour of duty, he was a dedicated employee with Bell South for 30 years. After retiring from Bell South, he started his own local phone company, Alabama Telephone Systems (ATS) and sponsored the ATS Men’s Softball “Fast-Pitch” Team. He was also a member of Pinedale Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Peggy Granthum, Titus, AL, and their children, Faye and John Brooks, Wetumpka, AL, Luke, Jr., and Celeste Granthum, Montgomery, AL, Craig and Cheryl Granthum, Hope Hull, AL, Mark and Carol Carter, Montgomery, AL, Mike and Lisa Carter, Prattville, AL; twelve grandchildren; one brother, Grady (Betty) Granthum, Prattville, AL; and very special friends, Danny and Lori Kelly, Montgomery, AL. Pallbearers will be Members of the ATS Ball Club, including Craig Taunton, Dennis Jones, Matt Thames, Ron Lewis, Sr., Rusty Cone and Joe Hyatt. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions in honor of Coach Granthum may be sent to The Community of Hope, c/o Pastor Neal Hughes, 149 South Panama Street, Montgomery, AL 36107. Kristi Jarrett

JARRETT, Kristi Lynn, a resident of Deatsville, AL, died on Monday, December 6, 2004, at the age of 31. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., from The Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Jim Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Wadsworth Baptist Church Cemetery, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Kristi was a graduate of AUM and earned a BS Degree in Education. She was a dedicated teacher at Tri-County Christian Community School and Daniel Pratt Elementary School. She was an active member of Wadsworth Baptist Church where she and her family generously volunteered their time and talent with the Hispanic Family Ministry. She is survived by her beloved spouse, Gary R. Jarrett; two sons, Gage Jarrett and Blake Jarrett; parents, Emmett and Vicki Silas; maternal grandparents, Harold and Coletha Littlejohn; one sister, Shannon Murphy; and one nephew, Jacob Murphy, all of Deatsville, AL. Pallbearers will be David Silas, Randy Silas, Ronnie Silas, John David Silas, Dylan Silas, Neil Silas, and Chad Doster. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Leland Jones

JONES, Leland, 72, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Sid Lanier officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Jones was an active member of the Pratt Court Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Jones retired from Union Camp with thirty-two years of employment. He is survived by his beloved spouse of 50 years, Wacile Jones, Prattville, AL; two sons, Derek Keith (Theresa) Jones, Pinson, AL, and Gary Wayne (LeAnn) Jones, Prattville, AL; one daughter, Patra Leigh (Chuck) Culpepper, Beaufort, SC; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Amber, Ricki, Brandon, Brandi, Billy, Graeme; two great-grandchildren, Caley and Tyler; three sisters, Dorothy Squires, Grove Hill, AL, Margaret (Buddy) Barnett, Satsuma, AL, Patricia (Paul) Halladay, Mobile, AL; two brothers, Jimmie Lewis (Helen) Jones, Creola, AL, and Jonah (Linda) Jones, Mt. Vernon, AL; and numerous friends. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be sent to the Pratt Court Baptist Church, 301 Water St., Prattville, AL 36067.

Charles Hitt

HITT, Charles Leonard, 84, a resident of Autaugaville, AL, died on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery, AL. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2006, 1:00 p.m., at Pratt Court Baptist Church, with Reverend Sid Lanier officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Hill Cemetery, Autaugaville, AL, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Hitt proudly served his country during World War II as a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion Timmons Hitt. He is survived by four daughters, Peggy Raines, Janice Hitt, Paula (Doug) Borstel, and Carolyn Hitt; one son, Leonard Wayne Hitt; seven grandchildren, Nick Raines, Casey Raines Edwards, Cameron Raines Rawls, Ashlyn Borstel, Andrew Borstel, James Borstel, and Samuel Hitt; four great-grandchildren, Levi Rawls, Logan Rawls, Brandon Edwards, and Ruby Raines; three sisters, Doris Blake, Nelda (Carl) Price, and Patricia Tucker; and one brother, Richard (Sue) Hitt. Visitation will be held at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
