Barbara Allen Veteto
Barbara Allen Richards Veteto, 60, of Ripley, Miss., died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at her home.
She was formerly of Coal Hill and was preceded in death by one son, Jim Bentley; and one brother, Roger Richards.
Survivors include one daughter, Billie Bentley of Clarksville; one son, Don Evans of Clarksville; mother, Wanda Long of Coal Hill; father, Harold Richards of Alix; one sister, Debbie Bentley of Ozark; and two brothers, Albert Richards and Bill Richards, both of Coal Hill.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Coal Hill cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Crystal W. Acord
Crystal W. Acord, 85, of Clarksville died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at her home.
A native of Hartman, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Alice Marvel Marion, widow of Garland Acord, and graduate of Hartman High School.
She is survived by one daughter, Tammy Robinson and husband, Glenn, of Monroe, La.; one son, Don Acord and wife, Linda, of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services and burial were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Hartman cemetery with Rev. Jack Glaze officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Doyle Daymond Evans
Doyle Daymond Evans, 87, of Hartman died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010.
He was born in Hartman, son of the late George W. and Florence Bell Evans, a World War II Navy veteran, coal miner, retired employee of A&P Warehouse in Kansas City, Kan., and was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Sarenah (Sally) Brown Evans; five brothers, Dewey, Lowell, Ermal, Robbie and Donald Evans; and three sisters, Vera Emery, Biddie Hoover and Anna Jean Salerino.
Survivors include four sons, Jerry Brown of Meeker, Colo., George Evans of Hartman, Larry Evans of Lavaca, and James Evans of Bella Vista; one daughter, Janet Evans of Hartman; one sister, Wanda Hook of Hartman; 10 grandchildren, Nick Brown of Grand Junction, Colo., Rene Heibert of Twin Falls, Idaho, Daymond Evans and Ginger Larsen of Pea Ridge, Jerry Rodgers of Fort Smith, Autumn Hunt of Ozark, Amber Vameter and Zechariah Evans of Lavaca, and Heather Hudson and Whitney Eyerman of Charleston; 23 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Hess cemetery at Coal Hill under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Ann Reed
Elizabeth Ann Strauss Reed, 84, of Hot Springs, formerly of Clarksville, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010.
She was a native of Mena, daughter of the late Frank and Ruby Strauss, and was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Edward Reed.
She was valedictorian of the 1944 graduating class of Mena High School and graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas in 1948 with a bachelor's degree in business administration, and member of Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society, Order of Eastern Star, University of Arkansas Alumni Association, Arkansas Genealogical Society, Polk County Genealogical Society and the Lawrence County Tennessee Genealogical Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Tucker (Tom) of Little Rock and Cathy Slaton (Don) of Hot Springs; one son, John Reed Jr. of Harlingen, Texas; grandchildren, Justin Tucker and Peter Tucker, both of Little Rock, Katherine Colgan of Maumelle, Meagan Pittman and Candice Wutzke, both of East Bethel, Minn., and Chris Slaton, Ray Slaton and Art Slaton, all of Hot Springs; seven great-grandchildren, Minah, Isaac, Oonah, John Lucas, Shem, and Phinn Tucker, all of Little Rock, and Madeline Slaton of Hot Springs; one sister, Doris Johnson of Atlanta, Texas; and two cousins, Mary Alice Head and Marsha Watts, both of Mena.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock followed by graveside services and burial at 4 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena. Arrangements were under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

Ettrice B. Swift
Ettrice Beckwith Swift, 95, of Booneville, mother of Celeste Nichols and Jim Swift, both of Clarksville, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by two other daughters, Mary Swift of Portland, Ore., and Deborah Barnard of Booneville; two other sons, Monty Swift of Fort Smith and Bill Swift of Booneville; four sisters, Ona Beckwith, Ava, Verlia and Ruthie; one sister-in-law, Marie Swift; and one brother, Hugh D. Beckwith, all of Mississippi; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Oak Hill Memorial cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Booneville Funeral Service of Booneville.
Johnny Parrish
Johnny Parrish, 61, of Monette died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at his home.
He was a native of Monette, son of the late Wilburn and Essie Parrish, director with Gregg Funeral Home for 41 years, retired licensed practical nurse, served in the United States Army in Vietnam and 23 years with the National Guard as a medic. He was a member of the Monette First Baptist Church, Monette American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Monette Memorial cemetery Board.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Pemberton Parrish; three sons, David Wilbanks (Shana) of Walnut Ridge, Mark Parrish (Kay) of Monette, and Mike Parrish (Sherry) of Bono; one sister, Betty Parrish Smithee (Ken) of Clarksville; one brother, Junior Parrish (Jean) of Knoxville; and six grandchildren.
A celebration of life service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at the Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Everett Isom, Rev. Terry Miller and Rev. Jerry Reed officiating.
Burial was in Monette Memorial cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
Active pallbearers were Robert Chambers, Bob Hurst, Kristian Nuckles, Tom Sneed, Ken Lomax and Ricky Copeland.
Honorary pallbearers were past and present co-workers at Gregg Funeral Home.
Evalyn "Louise" King
Evalyn "Louise" King passed serenely on Oct. 11, 2010. She spent the past 40 years in Clarksville, Ark., the birthplace of Louise and her identical twin, Barbara Lucile King Smith. Proceeded in death by parents, Roy M. and Laura Adkins King; sister, "Lucile" and younger brother, Wendell Maurice King.
Survived by sister, Ila Mae Martin; nieces, Barbara King Lawler and Jane A Holland, all of California. Miss King is also survived by lifelong friend, William Cooper of Little Rock, first cousins, Eileen Stumbaugh of Clarksville, Martha Sue Thompson of Oklahoma City, Okla., Sue Ann May of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Louise spent her career working for the University of Arkansas, Business School and Little Rock School District.
A member of First Presbyterian Church and Eastern Star, Louise was the consummate hostess and volunteer of the Presbyterian Thrift shop, Johnson County Medical Center and countless local and state wide civic organizations. Louise leaves a legacy of generosity, fortitude, dependability, and compassion.
Louise's most defining characteristics are her indomitable spirit and that she was a stranger to no one.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Mount Airy cemetery.

Raymond S. Ahne
Raymond S. Ahne, 79, of Scranton died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, in Russellville.
He was a native of Scranton, son of the late Ben and Mary Nichols Ahne, retired Tyson Foods maintenance department employee, farmer, member of St. Meinrad Catholic Church in Prairie View, and preceded in death by his wife, Esther Ahne.
Survivors include one son, Stan Ahne of Pocola, Okla.; three daughters, Becky Noonan of Clarksville, and Liz Findley and Teresa Freeman, both of Russellville; two sisters, Ann Bradley of Conway and Stella Koch of Scranton; two brothers, Lawrence Ahne and John Ahne of Wichita, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Rosary was at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton with burial at St. Ignatius Catholic cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Koch, Allen Koch, Joe Koch, Drake Noonan, Christopher Anderson, and P.J. Murders.
