Bonnie H. Doty

Bonnie Beulah Hudson Doty, 96, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at the MS Senior Care Center in Morton, Miss.

She was born in the Hudson Springs Community and lived in and near Clarksville for many years, former member of the First Baptist Church of Clarksville, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Hudson Sr., and was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Charles W. Doty; two daughters, infant, Betsy Joyce, and Mrs. Robert (Patsie Joyce) Eddington; three sisters, Lillian Wise, Ruby King and Mrs. Namon Looper; and one brother, W. C. Hudson Jr.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles L. and Mary (Schuh) Doty; grandchildren, Michael Don (Melissa) Flint, Janet Flint Share, Tana Doty Blair, Kimberly Doty Castro, and Holly Doty; and four great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated.

Visitation will be at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Aug. 29, beginning at 10 a.m. followed immediately by a memorial service. Burial will be at Woodland cemetery immediately following the memorial service.

Irene White

Irene White, 89, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at her home.

She was born in Monterey, Tenn., daughter of the late Davis Martin and Amanda Grace Griffin Stuart, graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, retired school teacher having taught 37 years, member of Johnson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary with 35, 000 hours, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorinda Brott; and two brothers, Martin Stuart and Clarence Stuart.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruby Reynolds of Clarksville and Ruth Young of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Erin Brott and wife, Alaina, of Clarksville, Tara Brott of Baltimore, Md., and Devin Brott of Clarksville; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Lauren Brott.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Lone Pine cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

James Ray Martin

James Ray Martin, 73, of Edinburg, Texas, brother of Mildred Martin of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008.

He was a native of Paris, son of the late Edward and Essie Ray Martin, served in the U. S. Air Force and U. S. Navy for a total of 20 years, employee of the postal service for 23 years, associate staff member at the Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, Texas, served as a volunteer house parent in Honduras, member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Russellville and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was preceded in death by one son, Dean Edward Martin; and two sisters, Nadine DeSalvo and Lucille Morris.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Patricia Ann Schrock Martin; two sons, James Thomas Martin and wife, Jo Mary, of Lewisville, Texas, and James Michael Martin and wife, Donna, of Russellville; one daughter, Jacinda Akins and husband, Kelley, of Little Rock; nine grandchildren, D. J. Martin, Ashton Hooper, Krystal Martin, David Martin, Stacy Martin, Brittany Martin, Nikki Martin, Justin McClendon and Allison Lawrence; and one other sister, Anita Harris and husband, David, of Russellville.

A celebration of his life was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at First Free Will Baptist Church with Pastors Allen Pointer, Blaine Rogers and Billy Ellis officiating. Full military honors were by Rogers-Rye Post 2283 of the VFW. Arrangements were under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.

Memorials may be made to the Rio Grande Bible Institute, 4300 S. Business Highway 281, Edinburg, TX 78539.

Leon Clark

Leon Clark, 79, of Tulsa, Okla., died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008.

He was a native of Hagarville, son of the late John E. and Arra Clark, served in the U. S. Air Force, owner of Clark's Green Country in Tulsa, Okla., and was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Wilson Clark; twin brother, Lavon Clark; younger brother, Morris Clark; and two sisters, Genevieve Simpson and Lola Partin.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Clark of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Leona Boggs and Diana Gencarelli, both of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Norma Jean Gentry of Clarksville and Ruth Henley of California; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Mark Griffith Memorial Funeral Home Westwood Chapel with Rev. Millard McGuire and Micheal Boggs officiating. Burial was at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Okla., with the military honor guard officiating.

Milton Maurice Tanner

Milton Maurice Tanner, 76, of Prairie View died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at his home.

A native of Bonnerdale, he was a son of the late Lester Milton and Edith Viola Dillard Tanner, Navy veteran, Methodist, retired from IBM and Tanner Paint and Framing in Clarksville, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Euen Pifer, Ernestine Dicus, and Dorothy Ann; and four brothers, James Louis Tanner, Alonzo Eugene Tanner, Lynn Austin Tanner, and Lester Byron Tanner.

Survivors include his wife, LaNelle Tritt Tanner; four daughters, Lorna, Rebecca, Jenny, and Anita; and three sisters, Lillian Lavonna Glaesser and Edith Carol, both of Hot Springs, and Rosemary Shankle of Jackson, Tenn.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn Strang and Rev. Judy Hall officiating. Burial was in Prairie View cemetery.

Pallbearers were Christopher Tritt, Jamie Tritt, Josh Tritt, Tim Tanner, Darren Johnson, and Allen Tritt.

Memorials may be made to Prairie View Methodist Church.

Ruby D. Jones

Ruby Decima Jones, 91, of Lamar died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of the Lone Pine Community, daughter of the late William Thomas and Ora Beatrice Adams Qualls; widow of Columbus Jones, of the Assembly of God faith, and was preceded in death by two sons, William E. Jones and James Robert Jones; one sister, Virginia Uptain, and two brothers, Ernest Qualls and Velmer Qualls.

She is survived by one daughter, Gwen Owen of Lamar; one son, Columbus Wayne Jones of Farmington, N. M.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Minnow Creek cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Duane Qualls, Robert Leon Qualls, Robert Earl Qualls, Billy Qualls, William (Tom) Young and Freddy Proctor.

Virginia Lee Vaile

Virginia Lee Vaile, 68, of Midway died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008.

She was a native of Morrilton, daughter of the late Basil Keller and Ruby Mealer Lackey, retired insurance office manager, and attended First Baptist Church in Scranton.

Survivors include her husband, Walter (Butch) Vaile; two sons, Steven Vaile of Midway and Walter (Wally) Vaile of Van Buren; two sisters, Jean Horn of New Blaine and Shirlene Fuller of Livermore, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial in Oakwood cemetery at Paris.

Andrew Brightman Sr.

Andrew John Brightman Sr., 90, of Knoxville died Thursday, May 22, at his home.

He was an inspector for General Motors, Baptist and son of the late George H. Brightman and Willie P. Wells Brightman Severn.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ira Ellen Adams Brightman; one daughter, Vivian Brightman Watkins and husband, Paul, of Longview, Texas; two sons, Dr. Andrew John Brightman Jr. and wife, Terry, of Shalamar, Fla., and Raymond Eugene Brightman of Knoxville; two sisters, Pansy Waldrop and husband, Luther, and Frances Long, both of Gentry; two brothers, Harvey Severn of London, and Frank Severn and wife, Aretha, of Gentry; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Bethel Baptist Church in Knoxville with Rev. Lee Cording officiating.

Burial was in Knoxville cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were James Richard Hall, James Delbert Hall, Kyle Brightman, Paul James Hall, Rick Guthrie, and Paul Watkins.
