Arthur Dean Domerese

Arthur Dean Domerese, 77, of Branson, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009.

He was a native of Harmony, son of the late Eva (Elkins) and Harley Domerese Sr., farmer, construction employee, and served his country during the Korean War having been stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and rising to the rank of corporal earning several commendations including a sharp shooter award. Following the war he opened his own business, Domerese and Son Construction. He was a member of the Pentecostals of Alexandria Church in Louisiana. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Hoyt and Harley Domerese Jr.; and two sisters, Euna Mae Laneer and Virgie Rannals.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Peggy Cox Domerese; one son, Robert Domerese and wife, Lisa; two daughters, Tammie Russell and husband, Steve, and Laurie Domerese; four grandchildren, Dustin, Matthew, Nichole and Jacob; one great-grandson, Landon; three brothers, Clarence Domerese and wife, Earline, George Domerese and wife, Erla Mae, and his twin, Dane Domerese and wife, Linda; and one sister, Jolene Wall and husband, Russell.

Funeral was Saturday, Dec. 5, at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home in Branson, Mo. Burial followed in the Ozarks Memorial Park cemetery in Branson, Mo.

Boyce C. Burch

Boyce C. Burch, 78, of Hector, whose son and daughter-in-law, Steve and JaNell Burch reside in Clarksville, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at Wheatland, Iowa.

He was born at Scottsville to the late Lewis Scott and Bessie Cordilia Heathcock Burch, U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran, member of the American Legion and Hector Free Will Baptist Church, served several years on the Hector School board, and was a retired employee of Phil Wright Auto Body. He was preceded in death by one sister, Bennie Sue Burch.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Norma Burch; one other son and daughter-in-law, Scotty and Ruth Burch of Scottsville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Kenneth Buchanan of Dover, Kathy and Layne Hurst of Van Buren, and Lori and Mark Livingston of Batesville; one sister, Shirley Donnally of Mooresville, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer Krentz and husband, John, Josh Buchanan and wife, Irene, Jessica Forst and husband, Jon, Melissa, Melanie and Greg Hurst, Casey and Cody Burch, Jeremy and Jamie Burch, and Luke, Eli and Addie Livingston; and three great-grandchildren, John Samuel, Caleb and Matthew Krentz.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Hector Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Haralson and Rev. Ellis McCuin officiating.

Burial with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign War Rogers-Rye Post 2283 will be at Boiling Springs cemetery west of Hector under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Active pallbearers will be Josh Buchanan, Greg Hurst, Loyd Rackley, Darrell Rackley, James Richardson and Dustin Collins.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the senior adult Sunday school class at Hector Free Will Baptist Church.

Freda Lee Pearson

Freda Lee Pearson, 76, of Clarksville died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was born at Harmony, daughter of the late Virgil Day Sr. and Oleta Pryor Day, graduate of Lamar High School, and former employee of Clarksville Walmart.

Survivors include one daughter, Martha Pearson of Clarksville; two sons, Donald Pearson of Fort Smith and Scott Pearson of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Louise Chronister of Clarksville; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marci Ward officiating. Burial was in Minnow Creek cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Gibson, Larry Chronister, William Pearson, Aubrey Thomas, Robert Day, and Larry Holman.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 212 College Avenue, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Marie Baskin Lewis

Marie Baskin Lewis, 89, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late W. Laster and Beulah Watson Baskin, widow of James E. (Jimmy) Lewis, graduate of Clarksville High School, 1941 graduate of the University of the Ozarks, taught school for 13 years, and former co-owner of the J. Lewis Chevrolet-Oldsmobile car agency.

She is survived by one niece, Sammy McDonald of Russellville; and cousins, Don and Pat Watson of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Kathryn Baskin of Clarksville.

Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Oakland cemetery with Rev. David Hanshaw officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home;

Marvin Claud Daniels

Marvin Claud Daniels, 83, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at his home.

He was formerly of Clarksville, son of the late William E. and Mary E. Daniels, retired head mechanic at the Lamar school bus garage, and was preceded in death by two grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter, three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Ola Jean Walker Daniels; two daughters, Sherry Hill and Ruby Hall, both of Fayetteville; two sons, Claud (Butch) Daniels of Fayetteville and Nick Daniels of Lowell; three sisters, Ruby Looney of Truth or Consequences, N.M., Virginia Casey of Knoxville and Flora Goldsmith of Fayetteville; three brothers, Edward Daniels of Sacramento, Calif., Melvin Daniels of Fayetteville, and Alvie Daniels of Wichita, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday, Dec. 7, at Beards Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

Myrl Nelson Fox

Myrl Nelson Fox, 60, of Grady, formerly of Clarksville, died Nov. 24, 2009.

He was a son of the late Elvie and Mollie C. Fox and was preceded in death by grandparents, Cam Harrison and Anna B. Chavers Fox and Finis and Dora R. Glisson.

Survivors include his wife, Paula R. Fox of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Chad W. Fox of Prescott and Nelson Fox of Hope; one daughter, Erika Peters of Fort Smith; five brothers, Richard (Diane) Fox of Ozone, Jack Fox of Jonesville, Ill., Frank Fox of Memphis, Tenn., Raymond Fox of Ozark and Kelley (Lisa) Fox of Clarksville; and four sisters, Millie Fricks of Ozark, Wendy (Bob) Duff of Lamar; Dora (Butch) Grisby of Hartman, and Anita (Jerry) Medlock of Lincoln, Okla.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 26 at New Covenant Church in Lamar. Arrangements are under the direction of Perry Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.

Phillip Dewayne Scott

Phillip Dewayne Scott, 66, of Russellville, formerly of Johnson County, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

He was a native of Stilwell, Okla., graduate of Stilwell (Oklahoma) High School and preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Rogers Scott.

He is survived by one daughter, Sherrie Brown of Russellville; three sons, Keathel Thomas and Alvin Thomas, both of Russellville, and Phillip Scott Jr. of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Glenda Thomas of El Dorado, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated. Burial will be in Liberty Hill cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Fay Bennett

Fay Bennett, 81, of Clarksville died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.

He was a graduate of Clarksville High School and The College of the Ozarks where he received a degree in pharmacy. He received a BA degree of Divinity at Duke University and master degree at Princeton University. He finished his doctorate from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary and also THD of Divinity. He started the Baylake Pines Methodist Church at Norfolk, Va., served as a missionary in Mexico ten years and four years in Dominican Republic. A professor at Columbia Bible College in Columbia, S.C., he was formerly principal of Maria Christian School in Los Angeles, Calif. He had traveled to all 50 states in US and 48 countries. He won the distinguished alumni award at the University of the Ozarks and served on the alumni board.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Buckner Bennett.

Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Clemmons and Rev. David Hanshaw officiating. Burial was at Oakland cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Farris, Garland Bean, Maxie Smith, David Moore, Dallas Anderson, and Mark Hatchett.

Visitation was from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11.
