Roy M. Collins

Roy M. Collins, 86, of Clarksville died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
A native of Harrisburg, he was a son of the late L. F. and Mattie Jacobs Collins, a Navy veteran of World War II, and owner/operator of Collins Laundromat for 45 years prior to retirement.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Phyllis Collins; three daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia and Arlon Horn of Butler, Mo., and Amanda Kilcrease and Lynda Hickenbottom, both of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A private family service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel.
The body was cremated.

Ronald Lee Doyel

Ronald Lee Doyel, 49, of Ozark died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident near Alma.
He was a native of Clarksville, a 1968 graduate of Ozark High School, former resident of Syracuse, N. Y., and served in the Army National Guard from 1970-72. He received a degree in biology and chemistry from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Arkansas, was employed as an engineering manager with Rheem Manufacturing in Fort Smith and was a member of the American Society of mechanical Engineers.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Joanne Walker-Doyel; two daughters, Natalie and Elizabeth Doyel, both of Little Rock; two stepdaughters, Stephanie Rowe and Heather Vinson, both of Syracuse, N. Y.; one stepson, Douglas Walters of Syracuse, N. Y.; parents, Landy and Georgia Coleman Doyel of Ozark; two sisters, Gerrie Sue Coltrane of Houston, Texas, and Linda Sherwood of Angleton, Tenn.; and two brothers, David Doyel and Landy Doyel Jr., both of Ozark.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Ted Darling officiating. Burial was in Highland cemetery.
Pallbearers were Landy Doyel III, Allen Doyel, John Mason, Douglas Walters, Don Burns, and Jeffrey Rowe.

J. Arnold McDowell

J. Arnold (Doc) McDowell, 85, of Augusta, father of Keith McDowell of Clarksville, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at Augusta Medical Complex.
He was a native of Haverhill, son of the late James S. and Grace Arnold McDowell, member of Haverhill Christian Church and the Wichita Consistory 2, Mystic Tie Lodge 74, retired transport driver having been employed by Mobil Oil for 34 years, and was preceded in death by his wife, Georgetta Britting.
Other survivors include his widow, Mrs. Leona Powers Dill McDowell; two daughters, Mary Ann Hawley and Ava McHone, both of Augusta; two stepdaughters, Joyce Triboulet of Branson, Mo., and Jeanene Stanback of Marana, Ariz.; one sister, Hattie Kingsley of Beaumont, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, at Haverhill Christian Church with Rev. Chuck Terrill officiating.
Burial was at Sunset Lawn cemetery in El Dorado under the direction of Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
Memorials may be made to the Haverhill Christian Church.

Mrs. Betty Jo Carter

Mrs. Betty Jo Carter, 67, of Clarksville died Friday, April 9, 1999, in Tulsa, Okla.
She was a native of Paris, daughter of the late Lawrence and Vera Evans Emery, graduate of Hartman High School and The College of the Ozarks, a retired school teacher having taught at Hartman, Perryville and Lamar, and a member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association, First United Methodist Church and Powers Church Circle.
Survivors include her husband, James Carter; one daughter, Anita Hall of Tulsa, Okla.; five sons, Larry Carter of Perryville, Stanley Carter and Randy Carter, both of Norman, Okla., Earl Wayne Carter of Fayetteville, and Robert Carter of Hot Springs Village; one brother, Bobby Emery of Clarksville; four aunts, Biddie Hoover and Wanda Hook, both of Hartman, and Ruby Green and Christine Smith, both of Oklahoma; one uncle, Doyle Evans of Hartman; 15 grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces including Denise Harvey of Clarksville and Becky Jones of Portland, Ore.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 12, at the Clarksville First United Methodist Church with Dr. Earl Carter, Rev. Lowell Eaton, and Rev. Frank Clemmons officiating.
Burial was in Hess cemetery at Coal Hill under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Larry Carter, Stanley Carter, Randy Carter, Earl Wayne Carter, Robert Carter, George Hall, Brad Carter, Justin Carter, Philip Carter, Brian Carter, Loren Carter, Chase Hall, and Eric Carter.

Mrs. Erma Henson

Mrs. Erma Henson, 79, of Fairview, Okla., former resident of Clarksville, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at the Fairview Hospital.
She was a native of Witter, daughter of the late George and Etta Littlefield McFee, retired 30-year daycare operator, member of the Fairview First Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, and was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by three sons and spouses, Lyndell and Louise Griffin of Watonga, Okla., Arthur and Linda Brandenburg of Clarksville, and Ronnie Griffin of Fairview, Okla.; two daughters and spouses, Glenda and Bill Thornburg of Pine Bluff and Faye and Milo Hoffman of Fairview, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, April 9, at the Fairview First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ray Myers officiating.
Burial was in the Fairview cemetery under the direction of Fairview Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Rocky Thornburg, Michael Brandenburg, Dustin Hoffman, James Griffin, Lynn Griffin, and Terry Curtis.

Mrs. Florence E. Foster

Mrs. Florence Ellen Foster, 76, of Hartman died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the Fernwood Assembly of God Church, daughter of the late Henry and Lovie May Morgan Morris, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Harris and Cynthia Lowe, and three brothers, Albert Morris, Roy Morris, and William Morris.
Survivors include her husband, Thurman Foster; three daughters, Brenda James and Tracy Robinson, both of Hartman, and Marchia Case of Clarksville; two sons, Max Foster of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Bruce Foster of Hartman; three sisters, Bessie Guthrie of Hartman and Ruby Rosenthal and Iva Adams, both of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Richard Morris of Fort Smith; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Fernwood Assembly of God Church with Rev. Joe Goodin and Rev. Johnny Price officiating.
Burial was in Hartman cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Tim Dalton, Allen Walker, Greg Morris, Roy Goodin, Mike Walker, and Larry Guthrie.
Honorary pallbearers were Gomer Jones, Richard Mays, Grant Dalton, and Larry Don Kinman.

Hugh L. Wall Jr.

Hugh L. Wall Jr., 70, of Coal Hill died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Coal Hill, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh L. (Jettie Lee Spicer) Wall Sr., member of the Catholic Church, Army veteran of the Korean War, retired employee of the Kansas City (Missouri) School District, and was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Wall.
He is survived by one son, Kevin Wall of Fenton, Mo.; one sister, Ila Bess Ferguson of Muskogee, Okla.; four brothers, Lee L. (Percy) Wall of Fort Smith, Otto Wall of Coal Hill, Russell Wall of Branson, Mo., and Earl Wall of Greenwood; and one grandchild, Adam Wall of Fenton, Mo.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Father Victor Gillespie officiating. Burial was in Coal Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bud Hoing, Ronnie Warren, Jim Gipson, Pokey Gipson, Bentley Yates, and Dee Yates.

J. L. Henley

J. L. Henley of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., a native of Johnson County, died Sunday, April 11, 1999.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ruth Clark Henley; two daughters, Joan Pitts and Geraldene Walker; three grandsons; two granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister of California.
Funeral and burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
