Bernadine L. Werner

Bernadine L. (Pete) Peterson Werner, 81, of Clarksville died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at her home.

She was born in Staples, Minn., and was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Christian Mothers Society.

Survivors include her husband of 57-plus years, Bernard C. Werner; four sons, Dr. John Werner and wife, Gwen, of Alma, Dr. Thomas Werner and wife, Teri, of Russellville, Fred Werner and wife, Janet, of Russellville and George Werner and wife, Lori, of Clarksville; five daughters, Marian Dickerson and husband, Billy, and Therese Weick and husband, Tim, all of Clarksville, Celeste Querdibitty and husband, David, of Maumelle, Constance Holloway and husband, Fred, of Altus, and Stacia Schuele and husband, Leon, of Littleton, Colo.; three sisters, Lorraine Tepel, Irene Heaver and Mildred Wilm, all of St. Paul, Minn.; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation and rosary were at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass was at 5 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father William Wewer officiating. Burial was in Holy Redeemer Catholic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Dickerson, Chris Dickerson, Greg Dickerson, Jonathon Querdibitty, Daniel Querdibitty, and Tyler Holloway.

Memorials may be made to the Johnson County Hospice Unit, 22 Sherwood Plaza, Clarksville, AR 72830 or to the Christian Mothers Society, c/o Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 103 East Main Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Carl D. Verwiebe

Carl Duane Verwiebe, 83, of Clarksville died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of Lutherville, he was a son of the late Anthony and Ollie Ada Pearson Verwiebe, and a welder.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Verwiebe; two daughters, Rita C. Velasco of Texas and Ruth A. Keck of New Jersey; one son, Anthony Carl Verwiebe of Clarksville; three stepchildren, Susan Ellerman, Robert Cagle and Keith Cagle; five sisters, Nell, Helen, Zelda, Ruby, and Maralee; four brothers, Bill Verwiebe, Johnny Verwiebe, Sonny Verwiebe, and Larry Verwiebe; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel.

Cecil J. Morland Jr.

Cecil James Morland Jr., 55, of Rogers died Friday, May 2, 2008, at his home.

He was a native of Vallejo, Calif., son of the late Cecil James Morland Sr., Navy veteran, of the Assembly of God faith, railroad repairman, and was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Mae Morland.

Survivors include one daughter, Erica Don Ogden of Clarksville; two sons, Michael James Morland of Ozark and Clint Jordan Morland of Little Rock; mother, Patricia L. Higgins of Lamar; three brothers, Larry Morland of Ozone, Gary Morland of Clarksville and John Morland of Lamar; and two grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Bavis, Jackie Clayborn, Juan Hattabaugh, David Ladd, and Danny Clayborn.

The body will be cremated and burial will follow at the Lamar cemetery at a later date.

Lisa Kay DeWinter

Lisa Kay Hurst DeWinter, 46, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Fort Smith.

She was a native of Little Rock, daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Ann Hay Hurst and granddaughter of the late Dale and Fannie Hurst, Baptist, and graduate of Clarksville High School and Ozark Technical Institute at Ozark where she received a licensed practical nurse degree.

She is survived by one daughter, Ashley Megan Hinman of Atkins; two sons, Robert Kirk Jr. and Terry Raymond DeWinter, both of Clarksville; one brother, Michael Ray Hurst of Pensacola, Fla.; and one grandchild, Sierra Shyann Hinman of Atkins.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Oakland cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mitchell Hurst, Joe B. Hurst, Randy DeWinter and Terry DeWinter.

Raymond Wilson Jr.

Raymond (Sonny) Wilson Jr., 72, of Hartman died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock.

He was a native of Delaware, son of the late Raymond Lewis and Ona Geneva Flurry Wilson, member of Hartman Baptist Church, graduate of Boles High School, cattle farmer, and preceded in death by his wife, Azalene Drewry Wilson.

He is survived by three daughters, Beth Clements and husband, Wayne, of Bethany, Okla., Mary Ellen Neilson and husband, Robert, of Hot Springs Village, and Sherry Fowler of Hartman; three sons, Lonnie Ray Wilson of Hartman, Michael Joe Wilson Sr. and wife, Joy, of Hartman, and Gary Wayne Wilson and wife, Keitha, of Clarksville; one sister, Glenda Westover of Hartman; one brother, Tommy Joe Wilson of Van Buren; nine grandchildren, Jackie Harris, Leslie Penrod, Michael Joe Wilson, Brian Wilson, Savannah Wilson, Joseph Fowler, Michelle Fowler, Robert Lewis Neilson, and Annabelle Neilson; and companion, Margaret Spahn of Hartman.

Funeral was at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grady Glass and Rev. Billy Mack Smith officiating. Burial was in Hartman cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Spahn, Johnny Anglin, Tommy Don Wilson, Jerry Wilson, Brian Wilson, and Michael Wilson.

Memorials may be made to the Hartman Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 267, Hartman, AR 72840.

Wanda Jean Baskin

Wanda Jean Baskin, 82, of Mulberry died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville.

She was a mother and homemaker, member of the Clarksville Church of Christ, daughter of the late Ottis and Etha Rowe Morelock, widow of James Frank Baskin, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Bryan Patrick McKim; and two sisters, Helen and Pauline.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol McKim and husband, Bryan, of Pomeroy, Pa., and Margaret Rutledge and husband, William Monroe, of Lamar; four sons, James Donald Baskin of Springdale, Jimmy Don Baskin and wife, Dorothy, of Marietta, Ga., Charles Frank Baskin of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Thomas Lee Baskin and wife, Kathleen, of Chesterfield, Va.; one sister, June Cloos of Ozark; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the Clarksville Church of Christ with Todd Rabalais and John Ballard officiating.

Burial was in Highland cemetery at Ozark under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were James Donald Baskin, Jimmy Don Baskin, Charles Frank Baskin, Thomas Lee Baskin, William Monroe Rutledge, and Travis Monroe Rutledge.

Honorary pallbearers were Jarrett Baskin, Jordan Rutledge, and Kenny Baskin.

Richard T. Lambert III

Richard Thomas (Tripp) Lambert III, 26, of Lowell died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center.

A native of Landstuhl, Germany, he was a financial advisor of Edward Jones Investments, four-year Navy veteran, recipient of three Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and served on the USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) which was the first U. S. vessel to fire on targets for the war on terrorism.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Lambert; father, Richard Thomas Lambert II of Knoxville; mother, Pamela Grace Lambert of Russellville; two brothers, Jeb Lambert of Russellville and J. D. Lambert of Knoxville; two sisters, Aubry Lambert of Knoxville and Shannon Lambert of Russellville; maternal grandmother, Ruby Nell Grace of Russellville; paternal grandparents, Col. (Ret.) Richard Thomas and JoAnn Lambert of Knoxville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale with Rev. Jan Akins officiating. Internment will be at 2 p.m. at the National cemetery in Fayetteville preceding the memorial service.

Arch Griffin Sr.

Herbert Arch Griffin Sr., 93, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Clarksville, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Spring Gate Nursing Home in Memphis, Tenn.

He was a son of the late Thomas Henry and Ruby Lillian Harvey Griffin, retired saw mill employee, and was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Lee Clark Griffin.

Survivors include one daughter, Penny Sue Griffin Henson of Deer Park, Texas; one son, Herbert Arch Griffin Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Edith Pauline Parks of Puxico, Mo., and Wanda Anijean Sanders Roberts and Dorothy May Arnold, both of Bedford, Ind.; four brothers, Thomas Henry Griffin Jr. of Kyle, Texas, Marvin (Bud) Edward Griffin of Bedford, Ind., Glen Houston Griffin of Kansas City, Mo., and Carl Lee (Dub) Griffin of Puxico, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Judeah Diane Griffin Yarbro of Memphis, Tenn., and Amanda Sue Henson of Deer Park, Texas.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larry Arnold, Carl Lee Griffin, Bobby Boen, Glen Griffin, Marvin Griffin, and Larry Henson.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
