Phil Callahan

Phil Callahan, 61, of London died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at his home.
He was a son of the late O. E. and "Pete" Setzer Callahan, native of Denver, Colo., United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a facility manager at the Dardanelle Marine Terminal with the Corps of Engineers prior to retirement, and was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Callahan; and one sister, Ann Callahan.
He is survived by one son, Pat Callahan of London; one daughter, Tammy Callahan of Atkins; and one brother, Chris Callahan of Yukon, Okla.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.

Roy Lee Smith

Roy Lee Smith, 76, of Hartman died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at his home.
He was a retired truck driver, Army veteran, member of the First Baptist Church in Hartman, son of the late Otto and Bertha Warren Smith, and was preceded in death by one son, Robert Smith; two brothers, Billy and Ray Smith; and one granchild, Ashley Ralls.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sparks Smith; three daughters, Rhonda Hogue and husband, Larry, of Hartman, Patricia Meek and husband, Mike, of Clarksville and Lisa Johnson of Hartman; one son, Junior Sparks and wife, Donna, of Russellville; one brother, Jerry Elms of Hartman; ten grandchildren, Stacey and Brett Daniel, Jessica and Garrett Pitts, Casey Bartlett, Kylia and Brock Bridges, Daniel Ralls, Logan Patterman, Dakota Buford, Kelsey Meek and Walter Meek; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Bartlett, Cassidy Gipson and Hunter Groboski.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grady Glass officiating. Burial was in Lamar cemetery with military honors.
Active pallbearers were Don Dougan, Brian Johnson, Larry Hogue, Jerold Elms, Garrett Pitts, and Vaughnon Freeman.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Elms, Junior Sparks, Brock Bridges, Brett Daniel, Vohn Smith, Jimmy Smith, and Mike Meek.

Donald Ray Curtis

Donald Ray Curtis, 59, of Clarksville died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at his home.
He was a pawn broker, musician, Baptist, son of the late Garland Curtis and the late Eunice Gipson Curtis, and was preceded in death by one son, Terry Curtis; and two sisters, Regina Baker and Vicki Curtis.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Curtis; four daughters, Lisa Curtis Blackard, Mari Curtis, and Alisha Guillermo and husband, Alfredo, all of Clarksville, and Tonya Hawkins of Coal Hill; two sons, Tony Moore of Little Rock and Charles Watson of Clarksville; one brother, Gary Curtis and wife, Sue, of Clarksville; and five grandchildren, Terra Gentry, Christopher Hawkins, Stephen Blackard, Brilynn Woodard and Anabel Guillermo.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Alexander officiating. Burial was in Kendall cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Robert Stracner, Mike Miller, Houston Mooney, John Vanderpool, Gary Looper, and Danny Tucker.
Honorary pallbearers were Robbie Morris, John Timco, and all lifelong musician friends.

Laurel K. Mott

Laurel Kathleen Mott, 33, of Clarksville died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at her home.
She was a native of Kansas City, Mo., 1991 graduate of Lamar High School, attended New Life Christian Center, and was preceded in death by her father, Pierce Cole; and father-in-law, Billy Mott.
Survivors include her husband, Alan Mott; one daughter, April Lee Mott of Rose Bud; one son, Austin James Mott of Clarksville; mother, Joann Cole of Lamar; one brother, Jeffery Cole of Hartman; and mother-in-law, Norma Mott of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jack Glaze officiating. Burial was in Hartman cemetery.
Pallbearers were William Crosby, Joe Snowman, Josh DeYoung, Richard Gilmer, Ben Harris, and Jeff Cole.

Roberta A. Borror

Roberta A. (Bobbi) Borror, 71, of Garnett, Kan., whose son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jean Davidson, reside in Clarksville, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan.
She was a native of Ottawa, Iowa, daughter of the late Robert Dennis and Lorena Mae Millard Gleason, graduate of West Plains (Missouri) High School, former resident of West Plains, Neosho, and Joplin, Mo., and was employed in the accounts receivable department of the Oak Hill Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
Survivors include her husband, Max Borror; one other son, Robert Sigars of Joplin, Mo.; two daughters, Catherine Carter of Paris and Janet Bynum and husband, Jim, of Waldron; one brother, Carl Gleason of State Center, Iowa; three sisters, Barbara Johnson and Donna Tomlinson, both of Houston, Texas, and Linda Calhoun of West Plains, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Garnett cemetery in Garnett, Kan., with Pastor Gary Benjamin officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Farris Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Inc., in Garnett, Kan.

Steven R. Cox

Steven Robert Cox, 33, of Sherwood died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, in Perryville.
He was a native of Sacramento, Calif., and a former resident of Johnson County.
Survivors include his fiancee, Nikkisha Norman of Sherwood; father and stepmother, Robert Eugene Jr. and Mary Cox of Dallas, Texas; twin brother, Donald Cox of Houston, Texas; aunt, Linda James of Hartman; and uncle, Johnny Cox of Seguin, Texas.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Velma Dean Shaw

Graveside services and burial for Velma Dean Shaw, 76, of Gurdon, who died Oct. 3, 2006, at Baptist Hospital, were at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the Woodland cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
She was a Baptist, daughter of the late Euell L. and Vellow Chesser Russell, and was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Russell; and three brothers, Frank Russell, Denver Russell and Donnie Russell.
Survivors include her husband, J. D. Shaw; one son, William Keith Barnes of Clarksville; two stepsons, Gary Shaw and Michael Shaw, both of Arkadelphia; one sister, Joyce Harbert of Waxahachie, Texas; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 12 step great-grandchildren.

Wanda L. Lomon

Wanda Lucille Handley Lomon, 73, sister of Carolyn Handley and Kathryn Martin of Clarksville, died Sept. 26, 2006.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, J. W. Lomon and Bill Brigance; one grandson, Tommie Brandon DeWitt; one sister, Juanita Walton; one brother, James Handley; and her parents.
Other survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy Jo Lomon, Johnnie Lantz, Juanita and Raymond Humphries, Kathy and Tim King, Mary and Donald Real, Betty and Tommie DeWitt, Peggy and David Jones and Nona Ivy; sons and daughter-in-law, Winford Wayne and Diane Lomon and Grover Lomon; stepson, Jerry Don Brigance; sister-in-law, Evelyn Handley; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Panama Free Will Baptist Church in Panama, Okla., with Rev. Jackie Edwards and Rev. David Nolan officiating.
Burial was in Greenhill cemetery at Cameron, Okla., under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Okla.
Active pallbearers were Philip Lomon, Jason Real, Ivan McRay, Lonnie McRay Jr., Tim DeWitt, and Cadet Chris DeWitt.
Honorary pallbearers were Tracy DeWitt, Justin DeLeon, Russell Adams, and William Lomon.
