Jane Baskin

Jane Baskin, 81, of the Harmony Community died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at Fayetteville City Hospital.
A native of Hartman, she was a daughter of the late Nat and Mae Oliphant Dickerson, widow of Will Arch Baskin, graduate of Hartman High School, and was preceded in death by one son, John Dickerson Baskin; five sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Mills of Fayetteville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at the Harmony cemetery with Burley King officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Leila Stephens

Leila Stephens, 83, of Scranton died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, in Russellville.
She was a retired teacher, member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Subiaco and was preceded in death by her parents, Gentry and Janie Spicer Stephens, and two brothers, Jimmie D. and Leon Stephens.
Survivors include one brother, Jerry Stephens and wife, Aline, of Subiaco; sister-in-law, Rebecca Stephens of Scranton; four nieces, Catherine Martinez of Jesup, Ga., Beverly Nehus of Scranton, Cynthia Benson of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Caren Immel of Clarksville; and two nephews, Jim Stephens of Tulsa, Okla., and David Stephens of Scranton.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Subiaco with burial in McKendree cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Active pallbearers were Jimmie Stephens, David Stephens, William Nehus, Steve Immel, Eldon McCaulley, and Mickey Butler.
Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Fulmer, Wayne Grey, T. J. Brown, Bud Inman, Freddie McCaulley, and Carlus Lee.

Marion L. Butler

Marion Lee Butler, 70, of Branch, father of Dondie Butler of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at Paris.
A native of Earlsboro, Okla., he was a son of the late John Harvey and Hazel Irene McCrain Butler, Air Force veteran of the Korean War, retired truck driver for OK Industries in Fort Smith and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston.
Other survivors include his wife, Kay Butler; three daughters, Laura Lewis of Hope Mills, N. C., Jennifer Clift of Branch, and Vicki King of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, Glen Butler of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and seven grandchildren, Aaron, Christopher and Zachary King, Jacob Butler, Brittney and Blake Bynum and Cassandra Lewis.
Funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Sacred Heart cemetery under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home of Charleston.
Pallbearers were David Bender, Joe Kiene, Steve Pagach, Bill Marriott, Frank Spanel and Pete Ketter.

Robert Schlueter

Robert John Schlueter, 77, of Oak Lawn, Ill., died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, in Oak Lawn, Ill.
He was a Lutheran and is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Pomrenke Schlueter.
Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery at Lutherville with Rev. John S. Moeller officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 1, at St. Paul's cemetery prior to the services.

Shermand Auterson

Shermand Jerry Auterson, 63, of McMinnville, Ore., formerly of Clarksville and son of Alice Auterson of Clarksville, died Saturday, July 29, 2006, at his home.
A native of Ponca City, Okla., he was a former resident of Santa Anna and Orange, Calif., Aumsville, Salem, Pistol River, and Newberg, Ore, son of the late Thomas Auterson, served in the U. S. Army, and was a heavy equipment operator having assisted in the constrution of Interstate 540. He was preceded in death by two grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Mary K. Nichols Auterson; one son, Thomas Auterson of Newberg, Ore.; one daughter, Tange Auterson Briley of Silverton, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Megan Hayward of McMinnville, Ore., and Erica Stevens of Gresham, Ore.; three brothers, Bruce of Hartman, and Tom and Merlin, both of Clarksville; one sister, Nonnie Bryles of Conway; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Private family services were held. Arrangements were under the direction of Macy and Son Funeral Directors.

Tommy Johnson

Tommy Johnson, 62, of Clarksville died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at his home.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Walter (Boss) and Avis Pitts Johnson, graduate of Clarksville High School, member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, and retired employee of Clarksville Machine Works after 21 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Delilah Pannell Johnson; two sons, Reg Johnson and wife, Melody, of Clarksville and Lance Johnson and wife, Jill, of Odessa, Texas; and four grandchildren, Tyler Johnson and Kade Johnson, both of Clarksville, and Michelle Johnson and Davi Johnson, both of Odessa, Texas.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Bass officiating.
Burial was in West Mount Zion cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Bill Stewart, Morris Pearson, Fred Cowell, David Newton, Danny Leeds, and Robert Hudson.
Honorary pallbearers were all former employees of Clarksville Machine Works.

Clarence Beumer

Clarence (Tiny) Beumer, 92, of Westmont, Ill., died July 25, 2006, in Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Ill.
He was born and reared in Coal Hill, attended Subiaco Academy in the early 1930s with a full athletic scholarship and was a 56-year resident of Westmont, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Beumer; one daughter, Paula; parents, Henry and Elizabeth Rinke Beumer; six brothers, Joe, Al, Leo, Robert, Tom and Ervin; and four sisters, Emma, Mamie, Clara and Gertrude.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Beumer and Susan (Charles) Church; and longtime companion, Connie Yarious.
His ashes will be interred at St. Mary's cemetery in Altus at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Coach Maus Memorial Fund, Subiaco Abbey, 405 N. Subiaco Avenue, Subiaco, AR 72865.

Eunice M. Smith

Eunice Marie Smith, 91, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, in Fort Worth, Texas.
She was born at Strawberry, daughter of the late Edward Boyce and Laura Jane Wasson Campbell, and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edward Leon Smith, in 2000.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Williams of Ozark; two sons, Johnny Leon Smith and wife, Lana, of Canton, Texas, and Pat Smith and wife, Linda, of Cleburne, Texas; one sister, Iona Campbell of Fort Worth, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be Thursday, Aug. 24, at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel of Burleson, Texas. Interment will be at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the funeral home.
