William F. Gabler

William Frank Gabler, 74, of Clarksville died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock.
He was a native of Topeka, Kan., son of the late Clyde William and Helen Lenora Drayer Gabler, Episcopalian, 1951 graduate of Topeka (Kansas) High School, graduate of St. Alba's Technical Seminary, Navy veteran of the Korean War, volunteer for the Veterans Administration where he served as a van driver from Russellville once a week, volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts, and numerous other organizations, pilot, and chairman of Clarksville Airport Commission.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Wagner Gabler; one daughter, Cathy Gabler of San Antonio, Texas; three sons, Jim Gabler and David Gabler, both of San Antonio, Texas; and Paul Gabler of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Beva Bergstrom of Muskogee, Okla.; two brothers, Bob Gabler and Don Gabler, both of Topeka, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of his life will be held at his home with family members.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Salvation Army.

Danny B. Daniel

Danny Barton Daniel, 80, of Groves, Texas, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
A native of Lamar, he was a son of the late Hershel Thomas and Rachel Julia Stilley Daniel, former resident of Dardanelle and Hot Springs, served in the U. S. Navy during World War II aboard the U. S. S. Iowa and later in the Korean War, received a bachelor of arts degree in biology from Hendrix College in Conway and a bachelor of science degree in medical technology from the University of Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock, former resident of West Helena where he served as the chief medical technologist at Helena Hospital and later moved to Southeast Texas where he was employed in the petrochemical industry as a chemist first at Goodrich Gulf and then at Texaco in Port Arthur, Texas, before retiring as a senior project chemist in 1992 after 27 years of service.
He was master counselor for the state of Arkansas in the Order of DeMolay, member of the First United Methodist Church of Groves, Texas and the First Christian Church of Port Arthur, Texas, where he served as chairman of the elders. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Brian Christopher Daniel.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Audrey May McKisson Daniel; two sons, Theron Mark Daniel of Grand Lake, Colo., and Brian Keith Daniel and wife, Patty Martin Daniel, of Groves, Texas; one daughter, Laura Lynn Daniel May and husband, Kent, of Beaumont, Texas; six grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Annette Daniel Steiner of Boulder, Colo.; and two nieces.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the First Christian Church in Port Arthur, Texas.
Interment was at Memory Gardens cemetery under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 5856 9th Ave., Port Arthur, TX 77642 or to Harbor Hospice, 2450 North Major Drive, Beaumont, TX 77703.

David A. Gainey

David Albert Gainey, 87, of Clarksville died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at his home.
He was a native of Climax, Ga., son of the late James and Carrie Kincaid Gainey; decorated World War II Navy veteran, was awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, World War II Victory Medal, World War II Honorable Service Medal; member of the American Legion Bunch Walton Post 22, the Johnson County Republican Party, and the First Arkansas Light Artillery, and recipient of the Order of St. Barbera. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Owen Gainey, Dwight Gainey, and Redmond Gainey.
Survivors include his wife, Claire Gainey; three daughters, Connie Unbanks of California, Renee Deckard and husband, Danny, of Florida, and Beth Weaver and husband, Tom, of Mississippi; one son, David Gainey and wife, Denise, of Clarksville; four stepchildren, Rod White and wife, Leta, of Springdale, Helen Boyer and husband, Jim, of Knoxville, Sharon Phillips and husband, Mike, of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and Charlotte Brown of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Susan Northcut of Manchester, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Kenny Preston officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the National cemetery in Fort Smith.
Active pallbearers will be Kurt Weaver, Adam Deckard, Grant Goodin, Ryan Christman, Eric White, Adam White, Sherman Cole, Larry Holben, and Mike Morgan.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Bunch Walton Post 22 and the First Arkansas Light Artillery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Margaret Wilkins

Margaret Ellamae Stone Wilkins loving wife, mother, grand, great, and great-great-grandmother, age 96, of Lamar died Saturday, December 1, 2007.
She was born September 3, 1911, at Houston, Texas, daughter of the late George Stone and Idell Janks, and was preceded in death by one son, Rudy McClanahan; and one grandson, Billy McClanahan.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leon Wilkins; one daughter, Patsy McCord of Houston, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald L. and Jerri Wilkins of Clarksville; six grandchildren, Don Hopkins Jr., Jacquelin Swanson, Pamela Smithwick, Patty Davidson, Connie Roland, and David McClanahan; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; mother-in-law and dearest friend, Daisy Bogue of Lamar; and daughter-in-law, Wilma McClanahan of Little Rock.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Dan Collie officiating. Burial will be in Holman cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Jackson, James Skaggs, Matt Mix, Larry Croff, Mark Hanson, and Scottie Sanders.
Visitation was held from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4.

Geneva L. Thacker

Geneva Larene Thacker, 78, of Nampa, Idaho, sister of Tommie L. Mooney of Lamar, died Nov. 11, 2007, at her home.
She was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Albert and Addie Brandenburg Hoskins, attended school at Spoke Plant, former resident of Arizona, widow of Orvin Clarence Thacker, and was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Wayne Thacker; one brother, Corbin Hoskins; and six sisters, Ellen Patrick, Nancy Jackson, Dolly Holland, Candy Skaggs, Opal Arbaugh, and Veneta Tate.
Other survivors include one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eddie and Leona Solenberger of Riverside, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Kohlerlawn cemetery in Nampa, Idaho, under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell, Idaho.

Ratta James

Ratta (Short) James, 71, of Hartman died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at her home.
She was a native of Hartman, daughter of the late George and Allie Balentine Newberry, widow of Robert Noel James, retired cook, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Patterson and Bernice Harris.
She is survived by one daughter, Jenna Colburn and husband, Steve, of Loyalton, Calif.; two sons, Ronnie James and wife, Ophelia, and Eric James and wife, Amy, all of Hartman; six grandchildren, Rebecca James, Brianna Aich, Kaitlyn Harden, Jacob Harden, Wesley Colburn, and Audrey Colburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Roller-Cox Funeral Chapel with David Zeiler officiating. Burial will be in Hartman cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Brandon Ball, Bradley Ball, James Aich, Jimmy Dorney, Tommy Doss, and John Nicholes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Warren, Benny Courtney, Bill McCormick, Mike Ralph, Howard Satterfield, and John Satterfield.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Arthur Rogers

Arthur Rogers, 45, of Ozark, brother of Thomas Rogers of Coal Hill, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, in Dallas, Texas.
He was a native of Henryetta, Okla., and son of the late John H. Rogers.
Survivors are his wife, Velma McCallister Rogers; one stepdaughter, Lisa Little of Ozark; one son, James Arthur Rogers Jr. of Ozark; five stepsons, Robbie and Harold McCallister and David and Jerry Dale Childers, all of Ozark and Truman Pixley of Mountainburg; mother, Rachel Crooks Rogers Collins and husband, Sam, of Ozark; one sister, Kathy McClure of Oskaloosa, Iowa; one other brother, Maurice Rogers of Calico Rock; one stepsister, Shanna Honea of Ozark; one stepbrother, Michael Collins of Ozark; and 21 grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Philip Pardue officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.
Active pallbearers were Ronald Williams, Mike Crouch, Harold McCallister, Truman Pixley, Jay Entrekin and Zak Entrekin.
Honorary pallbearers were James Arthur Rogers Jr. and Jonathon Little.
