Lee Earl Birdsong

Lee Earl Birdsong, 86, of Moberly, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Chariton Park in Salisbury, Mo.

He was a native of Georgetown, Mo., son of the late Preast and Eula Bishop Birdsong, United States Army World War II veteran, former employee of Ralston Purina, farm laborer, and was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Pensa Britt Birdsong; one son, Gary Birdsong; one grandson; and two great-granddaughters.

He is survived by two sons, Richard (Norma) Birdsong of Marceline, Mo., formerly of Johnson County, and Leonard (Janice) Birdsong of Clifton Hill, Mo.; three daughters, Vivian (Mike) Tyler of St. Joseph, Mo., Penny (Odis) Skidmore and Lynn Richards, all of Moberly, Mo.; one brother, Rob (Linda) Birdsong of Lincoln, Neb.; 23 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial will be at noon Thursday, Sept. 2, at Hebron Church cemetery in Kaseyville, Mo., under the direction of Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline, Mo.

Louise Miller

Louise Miller, 81, of Clarksville died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.

A native of Lamar, she was a daughter of the late Seldon and Ada Reynolds Daniel; widow of Rev. Travis Miller, member of Holman Free Will Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Colvin, Ruth Cowell, and Ellen Johnson; and one infant brother.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Willis of Clarksville and Janice Ritchie of Fort Smith; one son, Billy Miller of Lamar; two sisters, Anna Bruce of Bloomfield, Mo., and Mary Causey of Sikeston, Mo.; one brother, James Daniel of Lamar; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial was in Holman cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gary Smith, Kenneth Wilkins, Charles Colvin, Stanley Cowell, Kenneth Crotts, and Bobby Joe Wilkins.

Mary Nell Bowman

Funeral for Mary Nell Stewart Bowman, 71, of Jacksonville, Fla., who died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, in Jacksonville, Fla., were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Hodges officiating. Burial was in Kendall cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jeffery Redden, Jacob Redden, Mauricio Gonzalez, Jim Phillips, Skip Ketting, and Dutch Houston. Honorary pallbearer was Jack Phillips.

Memorials may be made to Oceanway Assembly of God Church, Jacksonville, Fla., or American Diabetes Association.

She was a daughter of the late Ruth and Edd Stewart, widow of Jon Bowman, and member of Oceanway Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Brown of Fort Smith and Jonna (Mauricio) Gonzalez of Blountstown, Fla.; one son, Jeffery (Karen) Redden of Wichita, Kan.; three stepchildren, Delon Ottley and Valena (Brent) Magill, all of Idaho, and Stephanie Howard of Iowa; one sister, Eddie Ruth Ewing; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Tom Auterson

Tom (Shorty) Auterson, 62, of Van Buren died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, in Fayetteville.

He was a native of Orange, Calif., retired truck driver having done long haul driving and construction, and Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Army in the 31st Infantry in the Vietnam Conflict.

He is survived by one daughter, Charlot Weinsinger of Van Buren; one son, J.J. Auterson of Fort Smith; mother, Alice Auterson of Clarksville; one sister, Nonnie Butler of Missouri; two brothers, Bruce Auterson of Hartman and Merlin Auterson of Clarksville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at the home of Merlin and Julie Auterson in Clarksville.

Alene B. Johnson

Alene Bohannon Johnson, 97, of Clarksville died Thursday, July 1, 2010, at St. Anthony Hospital in Morrilton.

She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Virgil T. and Lola May Gunn Bohannon, widow of Archie Johnson, high school graduate, and member of the Clarksville Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Dannie Johnson and wife, Wanda, of Mabelvale and Ronnie Johnson of Clarksville; one brother, Buddy Bohannon of Van Buren; four grandchildren, Danise Johnson, Joe Thomas Johnson, Charla Johnson and Kelly Johnson; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Johnson officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Eddie King, Zachary King, Molden Thrift, Wesley Kendrick, and Mark Simpson.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Alan Johnson, Bob Gorton, and David Duff.

Christina M. Pitts

Christina Michelle Pitts, 37, of Dardanelle died Monday, June 28, 2010, in Yell County.

She was a native of Russellville, daughter of the late Judy McCain Pitts and was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Lee Pitts.

Survivors include one son, Nick Bischel; two daughters, Joanna and Jasmine Bischel; one sister, Diana Mae Hunt; father and stepmother, Jerry and Lynn Pitts; two sisters, Christy and Brandi Haynes; and one brother, Jarimy (Buzz) Burns.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at Bells Chapel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Peggy Foster officiating.

Crematory arrangements were under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.

Douglas Collins

Douglas Collins, 46, formerly of Clarksville, died June 20, 2010, in Junction City, Kan.

He was a native of Ozark, son of the late Arthur F. and Ruby Mae Foster Collins, and was a National Guard veteran of Desert Storm.

He is survived by one daughter, Tarah Sue Collins of Fort Smith; one son, Dustin Joe Collins of Fort Smith; four brothers, Mike Collins of Coal Hill, Hearn Collins of Fort Smith, Carl Collins of Tucker, and Calvin Collins of Rudy; and four sisters, Susie Cagle and April Iris Collins, both of Clarksville, Doris Hale of Adona and Judy Bohdan of Junction City, Kan.

The body was cremated.

James Freeman

James (Jitter) Freeman, 71, of Knoxville died Monday, June 28, 2010, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Claude Henry and Ruby Atha Mills Freeman, graduate of Clarksville High School, member of Spadra United Methodist Church, founder of the House of Faith Church at Hemet, Calif., where he was pastor for 13 years and the James Freeman Center being named in his honor, and a dispatcher for the Santa Fe Train Company many years.

He is survived by one brother-in-law, Sammy Wish of Clarksville; one sister-in-law, Lela Freeman of Longview, Wash.; numerous nieces, nephew and cousins; and companion, Norman Lee Church of Knoxville.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at the Spadra Methodist Church with Rev. Regina Turner officiating.

Crematory arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Spadra United Methodist Church, 415 CR 2340, Clarksville, AR 72830.
