Betty Hames Gray
March 22, 1934 - August 11, 2012

Betty Hames Gray, 78, of Jacksonville died Saturday, August 11, 2012. She was born March 22, 1934 in Cushman to the late Remmel and Ida Patterson Hames. Mrs. Gray was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist faith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her husband, Bartus M. Gray.

Mrs. Gray is survived by her daughter, Beverly Brummett of Durham, North Carolina, a half sister, Marie George and good friends, Vince Capp and Wendell Nicholson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gray will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 in the chapel of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home with Reverend Mark McDonald officiating. Entombment will be at Chapel Pines Mausoleum under the direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home (501)982-2136.

Joseph Landa, Jr.
August 14, 1922 - August 17, 2012

Joseph Landa Jr. age 90 of Jacksonville, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born August 14, 1922 in Edwardsville, Illinois to Joseph and Otilie Slavik Landa Sr. Mr. Landa was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served during WW II as a fighter pilot. He retired from the US Postal service. Mr. Landa was a member of 2nd Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Mr. Landa was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Gregg Landa on December 5, 2007; two sons, Michael and Gregg Landa and an infant son, James Thomas Landa; sister, Blanche Niemann.

He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Rob and Terri Landa of Birmingham; two grandchildren Robin and Erin Landa; sister, Betty Evans.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Woodlawn cemetery in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. (501) 982-2136.

Gary Robert Bostic
May 26, 1954 - August 20, 2012

Gary Robert Bostic age 58 of Jacksonville, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012. He was the owner of Bud’s Food Market. He was born May 26, 1954 in Little Rock to Walter and Louise Bostic.

William Dean Karabinus
March 16, 1959 - August 23, 2012

William Dean Karabinus, Jr., 53, of Cabot died Thursday, August 23, 2012. He was born March 16, 1959 in Los Angeles, California to the late William Dean Karabinus, Sr. and Floy Dean Sanders Karabinus. Bill was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served as a lay associate with Companions of the Cross. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Alisha Diane Karabinus (Terry Babb) of Lafayette, Indiana; a grandson, Jack Ferrence Hendricks and a special friend, Suzanne Ware of Cabot. Bill wanted to send a special “Thank You” to Suzanne for her love and care; also to his Church family, to Judy, Ellen and staff of Baptist Hospice and to Dr. Sneed and staff at Arkansas Oncology.

A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at St. Jude Catholic Church under the direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home (501)982-2136. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.

Kenneth Hayden
December 19, 1918 - May 31, 2013

Kenneth Woodrow Hayden, age 94 of Jacksonville shook hands with Jesus May 31, 2013. Mr. Hayden had been hospitalized at the Arkansas Hospice Ward at St. Vincent's in Little Rock. He was born December 13, 1918 in Hannibal, Missouri to the late Gene and Zadie Hayden. On 11 January 1941, Mr. Hayden entered the Army Air Corp, soon to be the U.S. Air Force. In his 26 years of service to his country he saw combat duty in WWII flying as a B-17 crew member receiving many awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He also saw duty as maintenance support in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Mr. Hayden married Maysel McAlpin his wife now of 69 years on December 11, 1944. They are members of Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville.

He is survived by his wife, Maysel Hayden of the home; four children, Joe Hayden of Jacksonville, Brenda Sutton of Bruce, Mississippi, Karen Madison of Anchorage, Alaska and Twila Hayden of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Pete Hayden of Rockford, Illinois.

Please join the family for funeral services on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ronald Raines officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the funeral home. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Renota Pearson and Arkansas Hospice for the care and compassion given to Mr. Hayden. Ronald Eugene Benson
September 13, 1934 - June 9, 2013

Ronald Eugene Benson passed away in Jacksonville, Arkansas on June 9, 2013 at the age of 78.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Benson.

Ronald Benson is survived by sons Curtis E. Benson, Rural Sweet Springs, MO and Keith P. Benson, Jacksonville, AR, and daughter, Dr. Ronda Benson Ford, Chattanooga, TN.

Ronald is lovingly remembered by sisters Dorothy Peterson of Marshall Town, Iowa, and Mary Kunkel from Davenport, Iowa, three grand children, Eric Benson of Concordia, MO, Kendra Benson Parente of Brooklyn, NY, and Nathan Benson of Concordia, MO, the great grand children, Kaleigh Benson and Garrett Benson of Concordia, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

Ronald Benson was born in Marshall Town, Iowa on September 13, 1934.

He served in the United States Air Force, served in the Vietnam War and he retired in 1974 as a Master Sergeant. He also worked for the Pulaski County School District for 15 years. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed Country and Western Music and dancing.

The visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3802 N. Olive Street, in North Little Rock, AR at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville.

A luncheon will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 13 following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church and the Arkansas Hospice Foundation, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, AR 72116.

Marsha Ann O'Connor
January 18, 1955 - June 11, 2013

Marsha Ann York O'Connor, age 58 of Jacksonville died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born January 18, 1955 in Cottonwood, Idaho to Will and Mona Slaten York. On February 14, 1983 she married Patrick O'Connor Sr. in Juarez, Mexico. Marsha was of the Baptist faith, she was saved in August of 1996 at Grace Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas. She never met a child she did not love or a child that did not love her, she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Shannon Terrell Aaron on March 13, 1972.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick O'Connor Sr. of the home; children, Sarah (Christopher) Springs of Jacksonville, Brian (Neysa) O'Connor of Jacksonville, Patrick (Lori) O'Connor Jr. of Jackson, TN., Jeff Aaron of Dustin, OK., Mike Aaron of Louisiana, Alan (DeAnn) O'Connor of Albuquerque, NM.; parents, Will and Mona York of Lampasas, TX.; 15 grandchildren, Michael Dylan, Shannon Janelle, Alyssa Nicole, Cody William, Brian Patrick Jr., Sean Patrick, Megan Nicole, Jefferey Shane, Elli Kate, Marleigh Grace, Elyse Gray, Austin Tyler, Madison Paige, Nathan Scott, and Ava Presley; three sisters, Pam of San Marcos, TX., Judy Back of Waco, TX., Vicky Beattie of Stratford, TX.; six brothers, Guy York of Alaska, Scott York, John York and Mark York, all of Roanoke, VA., Doug York of Shreveport, LA., and Ted York of Dumas, Texas.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that all flowers be sent to the funeral home. Lelo Tilley
July 22, 1928 - May 30, 2013

Lelo E. Tilley, 85, of Jacksonville passed away on May 30, 2013. She was born July 22, 1928 in Germany and was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by her sister Maria Stewart and a host of other family and friends.

Billie Sue Felker
August 17, 1930 - June 11, 2013

Billie Sue Felker, 82, of Jacksonville died Tuesday, June 11, 2013. She was born August 17, 1930 in Corinth, Mississippi to the late Elbert and Muriel Meadows Andrews and was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother and a loving grandmother. She made camping in a tent like staying in a five star hotel. She was a tireless horse show mom, softball cheerleader and no one will ever be able to match her cornbread hushpuppies and pinto beans. She was our seamstress, our nurse and our example of the art of homemaking as it used to be. She loved a good yard sale, a flea market, could spend hours in Sam’s and really enjoyed eating at Olive Garden. She dearly loved her family and her neighbors, Carolyn and Sharon and will be greatly missed by all of us. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Felker was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Felker and brothers, James and Leon Andrews.

Mrs. Felker is survived by her daughters, Alice Singleton (Jerry), Debbie Davenport, Mary Felker and Sandra Hambrick (Steven); grandchildren, David Hicks, Jon Singleton, Felicia Cash, Amy Old, Phillip Hambrick, Will Hambrick and Owen Hambrick; great grandchildren, Chasey Singleton, Caleb Cash, Thomas Old, Olivia Old, Laney Hambrick and Rylee Hambrick as well as her siblings, Charles Andrews, Wayne Andrews, Larry Andrews, Diana Essary, Jeannett Anderson, Bernice Latch, Elenor Donald and Mary Lois Cooke.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Walter officiating with entombment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park under the direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home and Crematory (501)982-2136. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
