Nicholas James Smith
Mr. Nicholas James Smith, age 86, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas died Saturday, March 30, 2019, in Texarkana.

He was born January 9, 1933, in Winthrop, Arkansas. Mr. Smith was a United States Air Force Veteran and a member of the King Ryder Church of Christ. He retired from the Arkansas Forestry Commission as a pilot.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth Van Eman Smith; one sister, Betty Culp; and two brothers, Curtis Smith and David Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Patricia Griggs Smith; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheri Lynn and Will Roberts of Texarkana, Texas; one brother, Frederick Smith of Winthrop; one sister Martha June Markwalter of Texarkana; two grandsons, William Nicholas Roberts and Cory Lane Roberts and his wife Cady; one great granddaughter, Caroline Leigh Roberts; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2019, in the King Ryder Church of Christ near Crossroads, Arkansas with James McRae officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Mrs. Illene Snow
Mrs. Illene Friday Snow, age 84, a resident of Nashville, and former resident of Lockesburg, died Saturday, March 30, 2019 at her home.

She was born to Elon Alphonso and Fannie Mae Cannon Friday in Lockesburg, Arkansas on May 12, 1934. She was a 1952 graduate of Lockesburg High School, and married the love of her life, Edgar D. Snow in 1953. She was a retired electronic technician for Nash Electronics, as well as a homemaker. She loved her Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lockesburg, where she taught first grade Sunday School for over 20 years. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, cooking, and traveling, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Illene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 55 years, Edgar; a great-grandchild, Madison May; and her siblings, Lucy Ross, Julia Rettmann, and Ron Friday.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy and Tim Johnson of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Lanie Snow of Nashville, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Sarah Johnson of Texarkana, Daniel and his wife, Falon Johnson of Horatio, and Steven and his wife, Elizabeth Johnson of Ashdown; seven great-grandchildren, Evan Soper of Texarkana, Knox Johnson and Perry Johnson both of Horatio, Jack Johnson and J. D. Johnson both of Ashdown, Eden Johnson and Eli Johnson both of Texarkana, Texas; three sisters, Elverna Sykes, and Velma Owens both of Lockesburg, and Sharon Davis of Dierks, Arkansas; as well as nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Illene Snow will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 2, 2019 in the First Baptist Church of Lockesburg with Bro. Jaron Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Lockesburg, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M., until service time at the First Baptist Church of Lockesburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to Ouachita Regional Hospice, 602 De Queen Street, Mena, Arkansas 71953, or the Lockesburg Fire Department First Responders, P.O. Box 90, Lockesburg, Arkansas 71846.

Bonnie Ruth Dodson Crow
Mrs. Bonnie Ruth Dodson Crow a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas formerly of the McHorse Community died Saturday, March 30, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born February 1, 1929, in Plainview, Texas. She was retired from Weyerhaeuser and a member of the Provo Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Crow was preceded in death by her parents, George Newt and Mary Ellen Strawn Dodson; her husband, “J.B.” Bruce Crow; one grandson, Chip Ward; one great grandson, Coleman Pearson; one granddaughter, Carol Ward; one daughter-in-law, Lillie Jean Crow; and one son-in-law, Wayne Ward.

She is survived by one daughter, Bonita Crow Ward of Lockesburg, Arkansas; three sons and daughters-in-law, William Bruce and Jerry Crow of Ashdown, Clayton and Betty Crow of Lockesburg, and Wesley and Mica Crow of Ashdown; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Crow will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in the McHorse Community with Jerrel Helms and Terry Helms officiating. Burial will follow in McHorse Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday the 2nd at the funeral home.

Coy Lee Lemons
Mr. Coy Lee Lemons, age 45, a resident of Nashville, Arkansas, died Saturday, March 30, 2019, in Nashville.

He was born June 2, 1973, in De Queen, Arkansas. He was a farmer and loved to fish and duck hunt.

Mr. Lemons was preceded in death by his father, Willie Fred Lemons and his grandparents, Coy and Ava Bailey and Liza and Willie B. Lemons.

He is survived by his mother, Christine Bailey Lemons of Nashville; two daughters, Jennifer Lemons of Centerpoint, Arkansas and Ashleigh Lemons of Nashville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John Lemons of Centerpoint and Earl and Tana Lemons of Nashville; one sister and brother-in-law, DeAnn and Gary Simmons of Nashville; one grandson, Payton Lemons; and several nieces and nephew.

Funeral services for Mr. Lemons will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks, Arkansas with Brian Adair officiating. Burial will follow in Sunshine Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2nd at the funeral home in Dierks.

Betty Rosetta (Gorman) Knighten
Betty Rosetta (Gorman) Knighten, 79, of Foreman, Arkansas, joined our Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at her home. Betty was born January 24, 1940, in Foreman, Arkansas. She was an avid hunter, fisherwoman and loved the outdoors. She loved to quilt, was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.

Betty is proceeded in death by her husband, William A. “Little Bill” Knighten. Father, Pete Gorman and mother Nora A. “Morgan” Gorman. Four brothers James, Charles “Ebb”, Thomas “Bill”, and Ray Gorman. Two sisters Lois Pettigrew Ferguson, and Hazel Cleghorn. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Debra & James Barnes of Gillham, Marilyn Knighten of Foreman, Kay & Mike Johnson of Foreman, and Willie & Vickie Knighten of Foreman. Five grandchildren, James Barnes of Nashville, Marnada & Adam Jones of Hot Springs, LaShanda & JonEric Head of Ozark, Kristen & James Davis of Ashdown, and Justin Johnson of Foreman. Seven great granddaughters, Katie and Laken Barnes of Nashville, Haileigh Jones of Hot Springs, Heavenly, Chloe, Olivia and Madison Davis of Ashdown. One great grandson Nathaniel Jones of Hot Springs. Numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home in DeQueen, AR on Friday 29 March.

Services will be held in the chapel at Wilkerson Funeral Home at 10am on 30 March. Joyce Green officiating. Burial will be under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home at Gravelly Cemetery.

Lonnie R. Johnson
Mr. Lonnie Raye Johnson, age 52, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, March 15, 2019 in a Little Rock hospital.

He was born to Charles and Dorothy Dell Hopkins Johnson in De Queen, Arkansas on May 16, 1966. He was a 1984 graduate of the De Queen High School and attended the Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ. He was an artist and he cherished the time spent with his family.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, who raised him, Otis Powell; as well as, a step-brother, Otis Powell Jr., his grandmother, Minnie Hopkins and his aunt, Annie Maull, all of which loved him dearly.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Kathleen Johnson of Horatio, and Dakota Johnson of De Queen; a daughter, Knicole Dunn of Horatio; six grandchildren; four brothers, Charles Johnson, Jr., Jimmy Johnson, Kevin Johnson and Justin Powell; two half-brothers, Jermial (J.J.) Johnson and James Boyles; two step-brothers, Cory Powell and David Phillips; one half-sister, Cynthia Bennett Bertram; five step-sisters, Gwendolyn Bell, Sandra Anderson, Naudi Powell, Viola Spencer, and Gabby Powell; five uncles, Frank Jordan and Eddie Johnson, Sr., and wife Francis, Tommy “Tony” Whitmore, all of De Queen, Jerry Lee Whitmore of Maumelle, and Stephen Leon Whitmore and his wife Elonda of Broken Bow; three aunts, Clara Wilburn of Kansas City, Missouri, April Bennett and Marie Whitmore, both of De Queen; two great-aunts, Agnes Gilmore and Willie Boyles and husband Jackie; and a great-uncle, LeRoy Nelson; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial Services for Mr. Lonnie Johnson will be held at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, March 30, 2019 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mr. Bryan Marshall, Jr.
Mr. Boyd Bryan Marshall, Jr., age 77, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, March 23, 2019 in the CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System, Texarkana, Texas.

He was born to Boyd Bryan Marshall, Sr., and Helen Lucille Holley Marshall on March 12, 1942 in Honey Grove, Texas. He worked for the Red River Army Depot and as a security guard for Pilgrim’s Pride in De Queen. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Boston and was an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns. Most of all, Bryan cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 29 years, Bonnie Marie Marshall, in 2016; two step-sons, Kelly Cox and Rocky Simmons; and one sister, Dolores Ann Hillis.

He is survived by two sons, Tim Marshall and Dawson Cox; one brother, Earl Gene Marshall of New Boston; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bryan Marshall will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the South Chapel Pavilion in the Chapelwood Memorial Gardens, Wake Village, Texas with Rev. W. Lee Ligans officiating. Entombment will follow in the Cathedral Mausoleum of Chapelwood Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Visitation will be general, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to the St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9956, in honor of Mr. Bryan Marshall.
