Mr. David Taylor
Mr. David Wayne Taylor, age 60, a resident of Horatio, passed from this life on Monday, February 25, 2019 in Nashville, Arkansas.

He was one of nine children born to Murl Edward and Maxine Savannah Miller Taylor on February 4, 1959 in De Queen. He married the love of his life, Marilyn Lonnette Pressley on March 10, 1978 in New Boston, Texas and to this marriage, two sons were born. He worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Williamson Community Church in Horatio. He was a story teller and could make you believe anything. He enjoyed pestering his loved ones and cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert, Bill and Ray Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 40 years, Lonnette Taylor of Horatio; two sons, David DeWayne Taylor and his wife Amanda and Dustin Wayne Taylor and his wife Samantha, all of Horatio; three grandchildren, Jacob, Sam and Savannah Taylor, all of Horatio; his siblings, Martha Bush and her husband Alan of Gillham, Ed Taylor of De Queen, Shirley Crum of De Queen, Betty Ruiz of De Queen and Judy Witt and her husband Terry of Brock, Texas; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. David Taylor will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 28, 2019 in the Williamson Community Church in Horatio with Bro. Jimmy Roden officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 27th, at the funeral home.

Dr. Cheryl Lynn Vogan
Dr. Cheryl Lynn Vogan, age 64, formerly of De Queen, Arkansas, died Saturday, February 23, 2019, at her residence in Texarkana.

Dr. Vogan was born December 14, 1954, in Canada. She was a Family Practice Physician, specializing in Internal Medicine and Cardiology and a member of First Baptist Church, De Queen.

Survivors include her husband, Eric Vogan of Texarkana; one daughter, Mackenzie Vogan of Texarkana; two sons, Kyte Vogan of De Queen and Derek Van Voast of Fayetteville, Arkansas; four sisters, Shelly Coggins, Lois Knutsen, Lori Bocking and Patti Ziola, all of Canada; along with many other relatives.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.

Vernon Arivett
Vernon Arivett, age 82, of Athens, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019.

He was born on December 27, 1936, at Langley, the son of Lawrence Arivett and Mary Rachel Lawless Arivett. On March 22, 1956, he was married to Shirley Howard Arivett who preceded him in death on January 19, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his grandchild, Rosie Collins; and three sisters, Dulene Cowart, Verniece Burgess and Glennie Hunter.

Vernon was a member of Bissell Chapel and retired from Weyerhaeuser. He enjoyed working with his cattle, reading his Bible and being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Cherrie Arivett of Athens and Timmy and Charlotte Arivett of DeQueen; three daughters and one son-in-law, Yvonne and Royce Pate, Renee Arivett, and Patricia Arivett, all of Athens; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Winnon Arivett of Dover, Leroy Arivett and Hoyt Arivett, both of Langley; three sisters, Thelma Phillips of Athens, Dorothea House of Dierks and Jeanette Magar of Hot Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 26, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Don Vaughn and Bro. Joe Isham officiating.

Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Athens Cemetery.

Rosa Lee Blanton Barbre
Rosa Lee Blanton Barbre, age 81, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Friday, February 22, 2019, in Dierks.

She was born September, 28, 1937, in Wickes, Arkansas. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Barbre was preceded in death by her parents, David Ransom and Mary Elizabeth Jenkins Blanton; her husband, Oscar Edward Barbre; and two sons, Steve Barbre and Larry Barbre.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon White, Linda and Billy Joe Christopher, and Rose and Tony Tollett; two sons and three daughters-in-law, David and Marvella Barbre, Billy and Brenda Barbre, and Sheila Barbre; 21 grandkids; 31 great grandkids; and 3 great-great grandkids.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Barbre will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2019, in the Fellowship Cemetery with Bro. Scott Vaughn officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday the 24th at the Chapel in Dierks.

Margaret Helen Chandler Mounts
Margaret Helen Chandler Mounts, age 89, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Thursday, February 21, 2019, in Dierks.

She was born September 28, 1929, in Longview, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Mounts was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruby Hawthorn Chandler; her husband, Roy Othel Mounts; one brother, D.M. Chandler; and four sisters, Charllote Chandler, Jean Greene, Jackie Blake, and Francis Pandza.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Joyous Mounts of Murfreesboro, Arkansas and Randy and Rosemary Mounts of Little Rock, Arkansas; her daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Burl Krantz of Umpire; seven grandchildren, Andrea Oswalt, Amy Bailey, Tim Mounts, Brian Mounts, Denise Stuard, Jason Mounts, and Alison Waggnor; 16 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; two brothers, J.B. Chandler and Dwight Chandler; and two sisters, Sue Chandler and Louise Blake.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mounts will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with James McRae and Jerry Mounts officiating. Burial will follow in Burg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday the 22nd at the chapel in Dierks.

Ronda McDaniel
Mrs. Ronda Gail McDaniel, age 47, a resident of Ozan, Arkansas, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in Baptist Health Medical Center of North Little Rock.

She was born on December 27, 1971 in De Queen, Arkansas to the late Jackie Rightmire and Ruby Pauline Plunk. She married Christopher Leroy McDaniel, Jr., on April 19, 2018 in Nashville. She was a Baptist and enjoyed Facebook, fishing, listening to Country music and planning family gatherings, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandfathers, Roy Plunk and Luke Pettigrew.

She is survived by her husband, Chris McDaniel of Ozan; three daughters, Candie Davis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ruby Queen and her wife Stephanie of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Elizabeth Webb and her husband Charles of Mena, Arkansas; one son, Ralph Abraham Woody, Jr. of Ozan; five grandchildren, Jessie Wyatt James, Khloe Hooper, Daphney Davis, Liberty Webb and Justice Webb; two sisters, Melissa Burleson of Horatio and Terri Gillespie of Tennessee; two brothers, Chris Rightmire and his wife Carrie of De Queen and Timothy Rightmire of Hatton; her grandmother Mary Pettigrew of Horatio; the father of her children, Abe Woody of Ozan; a close cousin Leann Smith of Idabel, Oklahoma; as well as, a special niece, Larisa Hooper; a number of aunts, uncles, other nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Ronda McDaniel will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Clear Creek Cemetery, Horatio with Bro. John Gutierres officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 27th, at the funeral home.

Betty Jo Beckwith
Betty Jo Beckwith, 77, of Benton passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019. She was born August 27, 1941 in DeQueen, AR to the late Dave and Dixie Kerr. Betty Jo was retired from the Bauxite School District where she did accounting for the Office of the Superintendent. She was a member of the West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church.

Betty Jo was a model of Christian faith and virtue. She was loved in her family, church, community and workplace.

Betty Jo was preceded in death by husbands, James Henry Russell, and Harold E. Beckwith, her sister, Frances Smith, and her granddaughter, Erica Nicole Russell, brothers-in-law Ronnie Beckwith, Josh Chapman, and Abe Von Hatten, and sister-in-law Nona Faye Garibay.

Survivors include three sons, James David Russell and his wife Mary, Kelly Joe Russell and his wife Shauna, and Shawn D. Beckwith and his wife Tonya; sister, Sue Acklen and husband James of Broken Bow; sisters-in-law Betty Chapman of Benton, Lamona Sue Von Hatten of Alvarado, TX, and Janet Beckwith-Sebourn and Husband Randy of Sheridan; brother-in-law Kenneth Beckwith and wife Lil of Bryant; grandchildren Robert Russell and wife Brooke, Kolbe and Sydnee Russell, and Lilee and Dylan Beckwith, and great grandchildren Phoenix, Ridge, and Georgia Russell.

Funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Melvin Burris and Bro. Kim Hammer officiating. A second service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Wilkerson Funeral Home in DeQueen, AR with Bro. Melvin Burris officiating, and internment service will follow immediately after at Valley Cemetery in Gillham, AR.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home (501)315-0700 6700 Alcoa Rd in Benton.

The family would like to extend it’s profound gratitude to Debbie Chapman Elder, niece and honorary daughter, the nurses of Saline Memorial Hospice House, Bro Kim Hammer and Sue Webb for their compassion and support throughout Betty Jo’s illness.
