Calvin Dale McLeod (01/15/09)
Calvin Dale McLeod, 63, of Cave City, Ark., died Jan. 9, 2008, at his home. He was born July 26, 1945, at Cave City, Ark., the son of Homer Aldie and Eunar Lucille (Hill) McLeod. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired truck driver. Survivors include: his wife, Lety McLeod of the home; three daughters, Charlene McLeod of the home; Tammi Ivy and husband John of Grubbs and Patty Riley and husband Rory of Las Vegas, Nev.; three step-daughters, Vicki Moore of Des Moines, Iowa, Michele Alvarez of Norwalk, Calif., and Kelli Campbell of Newport; three brothers, Ray McLeod and Paul McLeod both of Cave City and Bill McLeod of Batesville; one sister, June Duvall of Cave City; three grandchildren, Brenna Ivy of Grubbs, Mickey Riley of Las Vegas, Nev., and Amanda Riley of Portland, Ore.; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Roderick A. Porter (01/15/09)
Roderick A. Porter, 98, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., died on Jan. 7, 2009. He was the son of Arthur Amasa and Mary (Rhinesmith) Porter (deceased), husband of the late Kathryn Porter, brother of the late Gladys Porter and the late Hazel Porter Gay, father of sons, Ray of Cary, Ill., and Robert Porter of Lakewood, Ohio, and grandfather of Joel and Glenn Porter.

Larry Allen Snodgrass (01/15/09)
Larry Allen Snodgrass, 56, of Viola, Ark., son of Tommy Allen Snodgrass and the late Norma Jean (Jackson) Snodgrass, was born March 7, 1952, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He died Jan. 6, 2009, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark. Larry was united in marriage to Denise Ray Carr on March 29, 2002, at Wellington, Kan.

Elaine Margaret Hansen (01/15/09)
Elaine Margaret Hansen, 80, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Jan. 7, 2009, at her home after a long illness. She was born in 1928 in Chicago, Ill., the only child of the late Fulmar Hansen and Margit Kristine Nilsen both of Norway. Miss Hansen returned to Norway in 1939 with her parents and was unable to return to the United States until 1946 due to the Nazi occupation of Norway during World War II. She attended school in Norway and spoke Norwegian fluently.

Wilma Marie Shrable (01/15/09)
Wilma Marie Shrable, 89, of Gepp, Ark., daughter of the late Thomas Zachariah and Bernice Veronica (Stockard) Clay, was born July 3, 1919, in Bexar, Ark. She died Dec. 20, 2008, at Gepp, Ark. Marie was united in marriage to Paul Patrick Shrable on Feb. 17, 1940, at Elizabeth, Ark. She spent her working years as a seamstress for a shirt factory. She was a member of the Crossroads Church of Christ.

Annie Mae Scott (01/15/09)
Annie Mae Scott, 83, of Williford, Ark., formerly of Dearborn, Mich, died Jan. 9, 2009, at her residence. She was born May 1, 1925, in Pineville, Ky., the daughter of the late James and Betty  Hatfield Gambrell. She married William Scott in 1946. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2000. She was a nurses aide at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital in Garden City, Mich., for 38 years, and was a Baptist.

Bonnie Clayton (01/15/09)
Bonnie Clayton, 65, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., died Dec. 26, 2008, at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. She was born Jan. 23, 1943. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lonnie and Gracie Snider; husband, Pat Clayton; and three brothers, Leonard, Lloyd and Doyle Snider.

James Andrew Hansen (01/15/09)
James Andrew Hansen was born Feb. 12, 1926. He died Dec. 25, 2008, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark., at the age of 82. James spent his working years in housing construction. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He is survived by: his wife, Rebecca Myrtle (Merryman) Hansen of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Kenneth Throckmorton (01/15/09)
Kenneth Lavern Throckmorton, 78, of Viola, Ark., son of the late William Emory and Mary Elizabeth (Breit) Throckmorton Sr., was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Bernard, Mo. He died Jan. 3, 2009, at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Ark. Kenneth was united in marriage to Alice Marie Baker on Oct. 11, 1951, at Bowling Green, Mo. He spent his working years in the U. S. Army, from which he retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1969. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Robert H. Thompson (01/15/09)
Robert H. Thompson, 92, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Dec. 28, 2008, at Eaglecrest Nursing Home. The son of Charles Foster Thompson and Alice Mae (Hamblin) Thompson, he was born Jan. 24, 1916, in Sioux City, Iowa. He was a 50 year Mason, and a member of the Lions Club. Robert was an elder at Spring River Presbyterian Church.

Bernard L. Aronoff (01/15/09)
Bernard L. Aronoff, 75, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Jan. 5, 2009, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark. He was born May 23, 1933, in San Bernadino, Calif., the son of Morton and Freida Aronoff. After attending school in San Bernadino he served in the U.S. Navy. After moving to Cherokee Village, Bernard opened his own business, Custom Fitt Upholstery.

Glenn Wade (01/15/09)
Glenn Wade died Jan. 10, 2009, in Paragould, Ark. He was born Feb. 2, 1943, in Oak Park, Ill. He was a retired real estate investor and pilot for Eastern Airlines. He is survived by: his sister, Debbie Bratton; two nieces; three great-nieces; one great-nephew; his wife, Diana Wade; two step-children, Alisa Long, Lance Greer; five step-grandchildren, Shayla Cooper, Briana Long, Cody Greer, Zaida Greer and Zane Greer; and numerous friends.

Mazell Morehead Melton (01/15/09)
Mazell Morehead Melton, daughter of the late Wes Morehead and Allie Rush Morehead was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Gorby Ark. She died Jan. 7, 2009, in Melbourne, Ark., at the age of 89. Mazell was united in marriage to Marvin Melton on Feb. 23, 1935, and to this union five children were born. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church at Oxford.

Theodore (Ted) Blower (06/01/06)
Theodore Phillip (Ted) Blower, 76, of Horseshoe Bend, formerly of Tucson, Ariz., died May 21, 2006, at the North Arkansas Life Care Center in Horseshoe Bend. He was born on March 23, 1930, son of the late James Girard and Sarah Irene Blower in Wooster, Ohio.

Claud K. Estes (06/01/06)
Claud K. Estes, 84, of Armona, Calif., died May 6, 2006. He was born on Aug. 4, 1921, son of the late Harve and Lou Estes in Ash Flat. He was the youngest of nine children. He served in the U.S. Army-Air Corps during World War II. He was a school teacher at Armona Union Elementary School, retiring after 27 years.

Marilyn Myrttle Cochran (06/01/06)
Marilyn Myrttle Cochran, 82, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., died May 25, 2006, at the North Arkansas Life Care Center in Horseshoe Bend. She was born Aug. 22, 1923, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of the late Harry and Emma Cochran.She was a retired nurse and was of the Lutheran faith.

Bonnie Black, 59, of Cherokee Village, died May 25 2006. She was a retired secretary with Caterpillar Tractor and Eastern Ozark Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Robert Black; her daughter, Susan Rothecker of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, Timothy Black of Chilicothe, Ill., and Kevin Black of Norfolk Va.; four sisters, Betty Olson of Streator, Ill., Barb Blough of Cherokee Village, Beverly Biroshik of Flippin, Ark., and Cindy Jones of Durand, Ill.; and one brother, Ronnie Blough of Rockford, Ill.

MSG. John Sasfai Jr. (06/01/06)
MSG. John Sasfai Jr., (Ret. USA), 77, of Cherokee Village, died May 22, 2006 in Crossville, Tenn. He was born June 12, 1928, in Throop, Pa. After graduation from Honesdale, High School in Honesdal, Pa., he worked for the Dairyman's League. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1948 and served until 1968 with duty in Korea during the Korean War, Germany, Fort Meyer and the Pentagon.
