Clare Gladys Stephens
February 17, 1923 - January 2, 2016

Clare Gladys Stephens, age 92, of Mena, died Saturday, January 2, 2016 at her home. She was born on Saturday, February 17, 1923 to Ottawa and Matilda Yates Holtz in Prince, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Clare loved life and enjoyed the traveling the world and in 1950 was introduced to the Queen of England. Clare worked many years with Bank of America and was the personal secretary to the vice president of the bank. Clare enjoyed skiing, and going on walks. Clare was a Christian and treated others the way she wanted to be treated. Clare was a loving sister, aunt and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fredrick Stephens; three brothers, Donald Holtz, Frank Holtz, and Richard Holtz and one sister, Emily Holtz.

Clare is survived by one sister, Joan Ace of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; her friends and caregivers, Alicia Stillwell of Mena and May Nix of Mena; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

There are no services planned at this time with cremation services have been entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.

Bonnie Katherine Osthoff
June 11, 1935 - February 11, 2016

Bonnie Katherine Osthoff, age 80, of Hatfield, died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at her home. She was born on Tuesday, June 11, 1935 to Noah Earl and Melvie Stringer Lemmons in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Bonnie loved life and enjoyed the outdoors; working in her flower beds and helping anyone in need. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and her pets. Bonnie worked 18 years at Alfs and was very proud of her career there. Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Carl Osthoff of Hatfield; two sons and daughters in law, Roger and Sadie Osthoff of Pittsburg, Texas and Chris and Judy Osthoff of Hatfield; two daughters and son in law, Deborah Furgala of Hatfield and Carla and Alan Harston of Gilmer, Texas; one brother, Bill Lemmons of Pocahontas, Arkansas; one sister, Donna Jo Washburn of Pocahontas, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2 P.M. at the Hatfield Church of Christ. Interment will be Monday, February 15, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Lemmons Cemetery near Birdle, Arkansas. Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2016 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.

Georgia Marie Bridges
January 13, 1951 - February 22, 2016

Georgia Marie Bridges, age 65, of Hatfield, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at her home. She was born on Saturday, January 13, 1951 to George Robert and Lola Marie Fulton Witt in Grapevine, Texas.

Georgia loved life treated people with respect and love. She was an active member of the Christ’s Church of Cove and served the Lord with all her heart and always willing to help anyone in need. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and her church family also. She enjoyed the outdoors and going camping, and spending time in nature. She worked ten years as a Farm Bureau Agent in Oklahoma City before retiring to Polk County. Georgia loved watching the Arkansas Razorbacks and cheering for #5 Kasey Kahne in Nascar. Georgia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Georgia is survived by her husband, Ben Bridges of Hatfield; her son, Johnny Fisher of Trumann, Arkansas; her stepson, Michael Bridges of Tallahassee, Florida; two step daughters, Debby Lamey of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Sherry Rogers, of McCloud, Oklahoma; one brother, Ron Witt, of Moore, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Christ’s Church of Cove on Six Mile Hill with Riley Christensen officiating. Interment will be follow in the Six Mile Cemetery in Hatfield under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2016 from 9-5 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Lamey, Benny Lamey, Kim White, Mike Bridges, Howard Embrey and Larry Parton.

Homer "Bob" Lee Whorton
June 28, 1927 - February 21, 2016

Homer “Bob” Whorton, age 88, of Pueblo, Colorado, died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at his home. He was born on Tuesday, June 28, 1927 to Andy Clinton and Blanche Brittian Whorton in Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Azell Whorton.

Bob is survived by nephews, Randall Whorton of Mena, Andy Whorton of Mena and Allen Whorton; nieces, Lana Mullanix of Hatfield, Edwina Richey of Mena and Marian Birkla of Albany, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Rocky Cemetery with Brother Steve Ellison officiating. Services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.

Chase Dawson Hilton
March 3, 1984 - November 17, 2015

Chase Dawson Hilton, 31, of Batesville, Arkansas formerly of Mena, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015. He was born Saturday, March 3, 1984 to Johnny and Fran Stroud Hilton in Mena.

He was the Agriculture instructor and FFA advisor at Southside Charter High School for the last 8 years and Lincoln High School for one year. Chase had a passion for team roping. He enjoyed raising cattle on the farm with his family. He loved being an educator and helping to shape the lives of his students. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandson and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

Chase was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert H. Stroud.

Survivors include his wife of ten years, Rana Hilton and his daughter, Harper Claire Hilton of the home; his parents, Johnny and Fran Hilton of Mena; his brother, Conn Hilton of Mena; grandparents, John and Trevia Hilton of Mena and A.B. and Ruby Smith of West Monroe, Louisiana; uncles and aunts, Terry and Becky Maye of Greenbrier, Arkansas, Jimmy and Kay Hobbs of DeQueen, Buddy and Beth Deen of DeQueen; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Brother Mike Lance and Brother Cody McDaniel officiating at Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.

Honorary Pallbearers are Donnie Evans, Tell Evans, Chris Lance, Rodey Strothers, Greg Goss, Wes Falls, Uncle Billy Hull and Jason Harris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mena High School FFA, P.O. Box 1810, Mena, Arkansas 71953.

Leslie Dean Carlson
March 26, 1928 - February 11, 2016

Leslie Dean Carlson, age 87, of Roswell, Georgia formally of Mena, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at his home in Roswell. He was born on Monday, March 26, 1928 to Oscar Carlson and Esther Carlson in Chicago, Illinois.

At approx 6 months old, Les’ family moved to Southern California. Over the years growing up, Les lived in Thousand Oaks, Malibu, and other area close to the Los Angeles area. He joined United States Army in 1946, and served with the occupation forces in Japan. After completion of military service, Les worked as an engineer for the State of California Highway Department. He worked in construction and survey, being involved in many of the major highway and bridge construction projects in the Los Angeles area. While Les was in the Mena area on vacation, he decided he wanted to retire there. Upon retiring to Mena, Les became very involved in the Ink Fire Department, served on the board of the Acorn Water department and was very involved in church activities. On May 1, 1993, Les marriage Faye Deen Bell. Les and Faye Deen loved to travel and were involved in mission trips, various bus trips and enjoyed many history classes and field trips at Rich Mountain Community College. Les and his wife Faye Deen move from Mena, Arkansas to Roswell, Georgia, in November of 2012. Les was a loving husband, step father, and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three weeks ago by his wife, Faye Deen Carlson, and two brothers, Charles Carlson and Burt Carlson.

Les is survived by two daughters, Janice Quinsaat of Fountain Hills, Arizona and Judy Bell of Roswell, Georgia; son, Ron Bell and his wife Emily Bell of Johns Creek, Georgia; one grandson, Javan Quinsaat of Fountain Hills, Arizona; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with Brother Wally Beckman officiating. Burial will be at Pinecrest Cemetery under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.
