Hazel C. Wofford
Hazel Castleberry Wofford, 82, of Clarksville died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Advance Care Hospital in Hot Springs.
A native of Hunt, she was a daughter of the late C. B. and Laura Dillahunty Castleberry, member of the First United Methodist Church, the Powers Church Circle, and the Johnson County Quilters Guild, a retired florist and former owner and operator of Clarksville Florist.
Survivors include her husband, C. G. Wofford; one daughter, Gail Norris of Pottsville; one son, Larry Wofford of Waco, Texas; one sister, Lottie Snow of Fort Smith; two brothers, Billy Castleberry of Lamar and Dean Castleberry of Russellville; three grandchildren, Wesley Wofford of Fort Worth, Texas, Cindy Parker of Russellville, and Kevin Norris of Carthage, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Wofford of Waco, Texas, and Jeremy Parker of Russellville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, May 11, at the Clarksville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lowell Eaton and Rev. Aaron Barling officiating.
Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Dr. Robert Smith, Sammy Wish, Bob Blackard, Robert Wofford, Bryan Davis, and Todd Davis.
James A. Graves
James Andrew (Jim) Graves, 84, of Hood River, Ore., died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 24, 1917, in Clarksville to Daniel and Mary Ann Darnell Graves, and attended school in Clarksville. He also attended school in Prineville, Ore., where he served as high school student body president.
During World War II he was employed with Lockheed Aircraft in Southern California until moving to Hood River, Ore., in 1952, where he built and operated Bolinger Building Supply until selling the business and retiring in 1982. He was a member of Valley Christian Church and a 39-year member of the Hood River Elks 1507.
Survivors include his widow, Gloria Bolinger Graves; three brothers, Ernest Graves of Tulsa, Okla., Robert Graves of Waller, Texas, and John Graves of Sun Valley, Calif.; and one sister, Minnie Harrison of Tulsa, Okla.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 30, at Valley Christian Church under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home.

Michael Wayne Nelson
Michael Wayne Nelson, 48, of Clarksville died Friday, May 11, 2001, at his home.
A native of Monroe, La., he was a graduate of McRae High School in White County, attended Harding College in Searcy for three years, and was a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by one daughter, Sarah Nelson of Beebe; father and stepmother, John and Maxine Nelson of Clarksville; grandmother, Gertrude Leach of Clarksville; two sisters, Susan Miranda of Dover and Suzanne Seeley of Clarksville; and two brothers, Dan Nelson of Clarksville and Joey Nelson of Batesville.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday, May 14, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Burley King officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery.
Pallbearers were W. C. Bradford, David Rice, Ralph Hanner, Jerry Osborne, Varnel Nelson, and Danny Nelson.
Paul R. Dennington
Graveside memorial services and burial for Paul R. Dennington, 96, of Florida, who died Saturday, April 28, 2001, in Florida, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the Mt. Vernon cemetery with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Grange, a Methodist, son of the late Marion and Ruth Hath Dennington, and was preceded in death by his wife, Olive P. Dennington.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Salerno of Tully, N. Y., and Cynthia Spencer of Overgaard, Ariz.; one son, Nathaniel Stanton of Elgin, Ill.; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Ray Miller
Ray Miller, 76, of Lamar died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Fort Smith.
He was a retired street superintendent for the city of Westminster, Calif., member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church, son of the late John and Annie Tilley Miller, and was preceded in death by one son, Randy Miller; two sisters, Elizabeth Bates and Tressie Hutchins; and two brothers, Leroy Miller and Jimmie Payne.
Survivors include his widow, Virginia Martindale Miller; one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Bob Garland of Westminster, Calif.; one sister, Ella Jones of Crescent, Okla.; two brothers, Travis A. Miller and Loy Dean Miller, both of Lamar; and one grandchild, Ian Miller of Las Vegas, Nev.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Gary Blair officiating. Burial was in Holman cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bo Miller, Jerry Miller, Terry Miller, Brad Miller, Billy Miller, and Dusty Talley.

Roy Peters
Roy Peters, 99, of Hartman died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at Shaffer Nursing Home in Ozark.
A native of Hartman, he was a son of the late George Elmer and Celia Frances Gilliam Peters, a retired General Motors employee, a retired farmer, and a Methodist.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Jean Goins of Fort Smith, Dorothy Lee White of Hartman, and Sylvia Don Roberts of Roland, Okla.; one son, Ernest Dane Peters of Clarks-
ville; one sister, Carrie Hardgrave of Fort Smith; one brother, Rev. O. D. Peters of Little Rock; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. George Domerese officiating. Burial was in Kendall cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bryan Goins, Stephen Goins, Gary Goins, Ken Roberts, E. D. Peters, and Luke Mackey.

Vickie Lynch
Vickie Lynch, 45, of London died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Panama, Okla.
Survivors are two daughters, Heather Lynch of Rome, Ga., and Jennifer Morrow of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Jason Lynch and Johnny Reynolds, both of Rome, Ga.; parents, Robert and Nevaline Breeland of Foxworth, Miss.; two sisters, Anita Queen of Poteau, Okla., and Helen Breeland of Sikeston, Mo.; three brothers, Jackie Castner of Hot Springs, Robert Castner of Russellville, and Marty Castner of Sikeston, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Caleb Cannady, Brittany Cannady, Danielle Morrow, Cameron Morrow, Savannah Lynch, Kevon Sprayberry, Morgan Reynolds, and Courtney Reynolds; and friend, Mike Reynolds of London.
The body was cremated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Willene C. Holben
Willene Clara McCleary Holben, 79, of Clarksville died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a retired clerk for Southwestern Bell, a Baptist, daughter of the late James and Jeanetta Stephens McCleary, and was preceded in death by six sisters, Muriel Terrill, Hazel Sullivan, Jimmie Carroll, Catheren Butterfield, Gertrude McCleary, and Jean Epperson; and one brother, J. D. McCleary.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Freda and Ken Lough of Clarksville; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Sheryl Holben of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Don Cunningham of Clarksville, Lee Cunningham of the United States Air Force, Anthony Holben and William Holben, both of Nevada, and David Holben of California; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Hess cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Bertha B. Askins
Bertha Bynum Askins, 94, of Clarksville died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
She was a lifelong resident of Clarksville, daughter of the late James Isaac and Anna Ray Bynum, widow of John W. Askins, and member of Stillwell Bible Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, John K. Askins of Clarksville; two sisters, Anna Marie England and Leola Hilton, both of Clarksville; two brothers, Robert Bynum and Ralph Bynum, both of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Mike Askins of Denver, Colo., and Steve Askins and Lisa Vandeveer, both of Clarksville; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, May 21, at the Stillwell Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Goodman officiating.
Burial was in the Stillwell cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were David Lasater, Adrian Lasater, Adam Askins, Steven Askins, Zach Vandeveer, and Kerry Sears.
