Gladys E. Maynard

Gladys Evelyn Maynard, 71, of Clarksville died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Greenville, S. C., daughter of the late Jesse Clyde and Margie Hollingsworth Sexton, widow of Herschel O'Neal Maynard, and was preceded in death by one son, Marlon Roy Maynard.
Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Melissa Maynard of Clarksville; one sister, Edith Booth of Fayetteville, N. C.; and two grandchildren, Josh Maynard and Robert Maynard, both of Clarksville.
Funeral and graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the National cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Harvey J. Terry

Harvey J. Terry, 77, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith.
He was a welder, member of Spadra Baptist Church, and son of the late James David and Nora Adams Terry.
He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Taylor of Kansas and Wonda Jeffcoat of South Carolina; one son, Michael Terry of Florida; one brother, Orvil Terry of Tennessee; and ten grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Spadra Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Oden officiating.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Jerry E. Flaherty

Jerry Edward Flaherty, 52, of Ozark died Saturday, March 1, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital.
He was a native of Spiro, Okla., and son of the late Lewis Edward Flaherty.
Survivors include his mother, Doris Hatcher Flaherty of Ozark; 11 sisters, Brenda Phillips of Hunt, Gloria Jane Bartsch of Subiaco, Linda O'Kula of Las Vegas, Nev., JoAnn McMasters of Blue Mountain, Kathy Jackson of Ozark, Mary Moore of Clarksville, Angela Predmore, Molly Brixie, Otta Ruston, and Polly Henslee, all of Alexander, and Doris Calhoun of California; and five brothers, Lewis Flaherty of Lamar, Truman Charles Flaherty of Coal Hill, Jackie Flaherty of Altus, Steven Flaherty of Lavaca, and Thomas Flaherty of Scranton.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Peeveehouse cemetery at Van Buren with Rev. Robin Hood officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Bartsch, Harold Phillips, Doyle Bowman, Randy Henslee, Ricky Jackson, and Phillip Brixie.
Honorary pallbearers will be brothers and nephews.

Lila I. Herman

Lila Iris Herman, 102, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a native of Taylor County, Texas, daughter of the late Robert E. and Margaret C. Bowan Austin, widow of Marion William Herman, retired school teacher, member of the Point Remove Primative Baptist Church at Russellville and the Happy Hour Doll Club, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Rex and Harlan Austin; and one sister, Elaine McMillan.
Survivors include one daughter, Valtina Teague of Clarksville; two sons, Austin Howard Herman of Lubbock, Texas, and Donald Wayne Herman of Clovis, N. M.; three sisters, Christene Durham of Farmington, N. M., and Celeste Meeker and Aliene Greene, both of Lubbock, Texas; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Harold Stumbaugh and Rev. Roland Green officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Randy Vire, Eric Teague, Jason Teague, Jody Dalton, Jerry Cowan, and Jeff Mize.
Honorary pallbearers were David Lindsey and Jerome Mink.

Ola N. Stearman

Ola N. Stearman, 86, of Porterville, Calif., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, in Porterville, Calif.
A native of Hagarville, she was a member of the New Life Center Church in Porterville, Calif., former resident of Yucca Valley, Calif., and was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond Stearman and Sonny Stearman; two daughters, Mary Lou Stearman and Dianne Stearman; her parents; twin sister, Lola Freeman; and two brothers, Edgar Pitts and Ezra Pitts.
Survivors include one son, Toby L. Stearman of Sparks, Nev.; two daughters, Maedean McKnight Cogdell of Porterville, Calif., and Janis Hill of Lake Arrowhead, Calif.; one sister, Lorene Parks of Alma; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery in Porterville, Calif., with Rev. Toby Stearman officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Whitehurst Loyd Funeral Service of Porterville, Calif.

Scott M. Shatwell

Scott M. Shatwell, 92, of Clarksville died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Red Rock, son of the late Minnie and George Shatwell, retired farmer, and was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Overman Shatwell.
He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Balkcom of Clarksville; one son, Felix Shatwell of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vernon Long officiating. Burial was in the Holman cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kevin Walton, Jaris Martin, Kaleb Plank, William Ragsdale, Bill Cowell, and Redell Shatwell.

Virginia L. Seaton

Virginia Lang Seaton, 86, of Olney, Md., formerly of Clarksville, died Jan. 30, 2003, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md.
She was a native of New Haven, Conn., daughter of the late Edward and Mabel Lang, widow of Edwin Clarke Seaton, former resident of Washington, D. C., where she attended Central High School and Temple Secretarial School, former employee of American Security and Trust Company, the Department of Justice, U. S. Geological Survey, and the National Institutes of Health, taught Sunday school in a Baptist church for 25 years, was a member of Oakdale Emory United Methodist Church in Olney, Md., and was a resident of Story before moving to Clarksville where she resided for 12 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Roberta Sybrant of Olney, Md.; three grandchildren, Shirley Griffin of Olney, Md., Julia Rader of Germantown, Md., and Thomas Sybrant of Laytonsville, Md.; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Norman S. Lang of Temple, Texas.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 1, at Oakdale Emory United Methodist Church in Olney, Md., with burial at Andrew Chapel cemetery in Vienna, Va. The body was cremated with arrangements under the direction of Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville, Md.
Memorials may be made to Oakdale Emory United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 3425 Emory Church Road, Olney, MD 20832.

Amy Ruth Inman

Amy Ruth Inman, 58, of Scranton died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in Scranton.
She was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Charles Cravens; and one sister, Nell Cravens.
Survivors are her husband, Bud Inman; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Ronnie Pack of Atkins; one son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Teresa Inman of Scranton; mother, Eula Mae Cravens of Scranton; two sisters, Nenah Jean Fulmer and Susan Houser, both of Scranton; and four grandchildren, Garrett Pack, Victoria Pack, Toby Inman, and Joni Inman.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at the First Baptist Church in Paris with burial in Ellsworth cemetery at Subiaco. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Active pallbearers were Mark Fulmer, Charles Fulmer, Ron Lee, T. J. Brown, Jerry Stephens, and Danny Porter.
Honorary pallbearers were Louie Fox, Troy Houser, Danny Greenhaw, and Wayne Gray.

Alma Edith Willis

Alma Edith Willis, 90, of Clarksville died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late D. B. and Michie C. Smith Garland, widow of John Henry Willis, and was preceded in death by one son, Henry B. Willis.
Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Peggy Willis of Clarksville; one sister, Ida Bly of Pittsburg, Calif.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Earnest of Jacksonville, Fla., Henry Willis of Orlando, Fla., Judy Felkins of Clarksville, Jim Willis of Fort Smith, and Joe Willis of Barling; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Oakland cemetery with Rev. Steve Wingo officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jack Cecil, Bill Porter, Jack Phillips, Francis Pitts, Don Peters, and Bob Norris.
