Billy H. Crabtree
Billy Howard Crabtree, 72, of Ozark died Sunday, March 2, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital.
A native of Coal Hill, he was a son of the late Horten Howard and Georgia Holt Crabtree, retired master sergeant in the Air Force and attended the Ozark First Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Reed Crabtree; one brother, George Crabtree; and one sister, Patricia Faye Crabtree.
Survivors include three daughters, Rita Perry of Van Buren, Regina McElhaney of Ozark and Rowena Anderson of Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Hortense Peterson of Fresno, Calif., and Francis Ellis of Tulsa, Okla.; six brothers, Robert, Lloyd, Ray, Charles, Ronnie, Jerry Don, and Darrell Crabtree, all of Porterville, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim McElhaney, Oliver McElhaney and James Perry officiating. Burial was at Highland cemetery.
Active pallbearers were James Perry, Nathan McElhaney, Lloyd Rausher, Randy Bowman, Dan Anderson, Lonnie Perry, Jimmy Pledger, and Paul Turner.
Honorary pallbearers were Tom Edgin, Bill Hudspeth, Jim Ruston, Dane Jaggers, and Bud Pinkston.
Billy M. Noble
Billy Mack Noble, 69, of Charleston, father of Holly Ann Kuykendall of Clarksville, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, in Fort Smith.
He was a native of Crossett, son of the late Mack Noble, retired plant superintendent at Correll, Inc., in Charleston, Baptist and former Phi Lambda Chi.
Survivors include his widow, Dorothy Pierson Noble; two other daughters, Donna Katheryn McDonald of Charleston and Mary Jane Christenberry of Barling; two sons, William Howard Noble of Charleston and Matthew Edward Noble of Maumelle; mother, Helen Jenkins Noble of Crossett; one sister, Patsy Jenkins of Jacksonville; two brothers, Charles Noble of Crossett and Ronnie Noble of Tillar; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston followed by another service at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the Beulah Land Assembly of God Church in Crossett. Burial will be at the Crossroads cemetery in Crossett.
Active pallbearers will be Doug Barnard, Larry Sanders, Steve Brown, Kenny Price, Hanh Van Nguyen, and Gail Bunn.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Emma Anna King
Emma Anna Jane Larue King, 95, of Ozark, formerly of Clarksville, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
She was a daughter of the late Jesse Peter and Lori Ethyl Sindle Larue, widow of John Lloyd King, affiliated with the Mt. Olive Methodist Church, United Pentecostal and Clarksville Christian Churches. She was preceded in death by two sons, Edgar Ellis and Floyd Eugene King; two sisters, May Pemberton and Erma Harrington; and one brother, Ira Cecil Larue.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita M. and Lonnie D. Hunsucker of Ozark and Carolyn and Lee Moore of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five sons and six daughters-in-law, John E. and Sharon King of Clarksville, Jesse H. and Nancy King of Inkster, Mich., Billy R. and Ann King and Kenneth E. and Imogene King, all of Ozone, Lawrence and Linda King of Tulsa, Okla.; and Mrs. Floyd E. King of London; one sister, Jessie Mueller of Washington; 29 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Hall, Claud Dell Hall, Bobby L. Hall, Shawn King, Timmy King, and Danny Doak.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Faulkner, Lonnie D. Hunsucker, Donald Hunsucker, and Troy Byrd.
Harry J. Wise
Harry James Wise, 86, of Frankfort, Ky., father of Robert C. Wise of Clarksville, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at his home.
He was a son of the late Graham H. and Mary Lizzie Moreland Wise, a native of Franklin County, retired employee of the state department of economic security, a Kentucky Colonel, former 40-year member of Peaks Mill Christian Church and a member of Capital City Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by wives, Josie Taylor Wise and Minnie League Wise; one daughter, Anna Mae Wise Martin; one brother, Robert Wise; and two sisters, Anna Duvall Olds and Lillian Wise Cloyd.
Other survivors include one brother, Duard Chester Wise of Muncie, Ind.; one sister, Maggie Wise Dielks Buntin of Muncie, Ind.; six grandchildren, Robert Graham Wise of Statesville, N. C., David Neal Wise of Melbourne, Australia, Rebecca Martin Gill, Lois Martin Roberts, and Stephen Lowell Martin, all of Frankfort, Ky., and Robin Wise Lewallen of Mount Home, Idaho; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel with Dr. Steve Pattison and Rev. Jon Sutphin officiating. Entombment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Steven Kingsolver Jr., Daryle Woolums, Eric Woolums, Thomas McCain III, Danny Wiley and Johnny Broughton.
Honorary pallbearers were Shepherds and Rising Sun Sunday School classes of Capital City Christian Church.
Rev. Lance W. King
ev. Lance William King, 64, of Clarksville died Friday, March 7, 2003, from injuries sustained in a tractor accident near Hunt.
He was born in the Vesta Community, son of the late Thomas William and Imogene Craft King, graduate of Fort Smith High School, Army veteran of the Korean War, pastor at Liberty Hill Community Church, formerly pastored churches at Coal Hill, Hartman, Spadra, Lamar, Mt. Olive, Vilonia, Mt. Carmel and Trinity United Methodist Church in North Little Rock, and was a former chaplain at UAMS in Little Rock.
Survivors include his widow, Peggy Stricklin King; two daughters, Patricia Jones of Sherman, Texas, and Jennifer Crooks of Ozark; four sons, Rickey King of Conway, Alan Stricklin of Memphis, Tenn., Darrel Stricklin of Coal Hill, and Randy Stricklin of Hartman; one brother, Tommy King of Clarksville; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bobby Bell and Rev. Judge Cocker officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill cemetery at Hunt.

Robert E. McDougal
Robert Eugene McDougal, 68, of Clarksville died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a farmer and son of the late Wesley and Lilly McDougal.
He is survived by one daughter, Kay Smith of Mill Springs, Mo.; and two sons, Garry McDougal of San Francisco, Calif., and Ben McDougal of El Paso, Texas.
The body was cremated.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Varnell M. Dwyer
Varnel McKinney Dwyer, 78, died Monday, March 3, 2003, in Marion, Kan.
She was a native of Lamar, daughter of the late Herbert and Emma Killough, and widow of Vernon Lamar Dwyer.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Andrew and Joan McKinney, Jerry and R. Kevin McKinney, and Roger McKinney, all of Wichita, Kan.; one daughter, Patsy Sandlin of Wichita, Kan.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Freida and Jim Cole, Laura Faye and Norman Davis, and Gladys Nation of Clarksville; six grandchildren, Tammy McKinney, Johnny Murphy, Thomas McKinney, Michelle Scheer, Jennifer Duffie, and Crystal Stephenson; eight great-grandchildren, Olivia Patterson, Rebecca Patterson, Hailey Patterson, Kyle Scheer, Kyra Scheer, Kori Scheer, Austin Carriker, and Braydon Stephenson; and one step grandchild, Kara Porter.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Smith Mortuary in Derby, Kan.

Virginia Mahan
Virginia (Blossom) Mahan, 86, of Alma died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Alma Health and Rehabilitation.
A native of the Spadra Community, she was a daughter of the late Granvel and Ada Powell Wilson Hardgrave, 1935 graduate of Coal Hill High School, a volunteer at Sparks Regional Medical Center for several years, member of the Church of Christ, former Sunday school teacher for many years and also did many hours of church work with her minister husband, Johnny Mahan.
Other than her husband she is survived by one daughter, Layne Downs of Fort Smith; two sons, Buddy Mahan of Muskogee, Okla., and Butch Mahan of Alma; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Alma Church of Christ with David Banks and Dale Brown officiating.
Burial was in the Hess cemetery at Coal Hill under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jay Coleman, Benny Brown, Mike Colman, Bob Douglas, Darrell Goodpastur, and David Goodpastur.
H. Glen Hartlein
H. Glen Hartlein, 56, of Hartman died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at his home.
He was the son of the late Hoyt D. and Nell Hartlein, graduate of Hartman High School and Arkansas Valley Technical Institute, member of the Hays Chapel United Methodist Church, self-employed, and a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors are his widow, Paula Roble Hartlein; one son, Dustin D. Hartlein of Hartman; and two sisters, Janice Larocque of Independence, Mo., and Rita Hartlein of Middleburg, Va.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Hays Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. D. Chris Rink officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
