Lucy Lorene Webb

Lucy Lorene Webb, 96, of Little Rock died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003.
A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Carter and Flora Paine Wilson Sharyer, widow of Brigadier General John B. Webb, and graduated in 1927 from Henderson-Brown College (now Henderson University) at Arkadelphia where she served as secretary of the student body, president of the Upsilon Phi and was the winner of the W. E. Barham Speech Medal in her freshman year.
She taught kindergarten and speech at various schools around Arkansas, was past president of the Pulaski County Pioneers Association and state president of the Pioneers Association, member of the Capt. Basil Gaither Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and General T. J. Churchill Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and was preceded in death by one son, Brigadier General John B. Webb Jr.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Barbara Webb of Little Rock; one grandson and spouse, Mr. and Mrs. John B. (Linda) Webb III of Roland; and two great-grandchildren, Scott Webb of Memphis, Tenn., and Elizabeth Webb of Carrboro, N. C.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville with Rev. Steve Wingo officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth of Little Rock.
Memorials may be made to the Little Rock Humane Society or the First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 535, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Robert Bynum

Robert Bynum, 90, of Clarksville died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Clarksville, member of Stillwell Bible Baptist Church, retired coal miner and trucker, and a member of Local Union 7869 United Mine Workers of America.
He is survived by two daughters, Hope Diffee of Maumelle and Sue Gill of Van Buren; one stepson, Don Langston of Fort Smith; two sisters, Leola Hilton and Anna Marie England, both of Clarksville; one brother, Ralph Bynum of Clarksville; and two grandchildren, John Wesley Noble of Maumelle and Amber Gill of Van Buren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at Stillwell Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Goodman officiating.
Burial was in Oakland cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jim Yantis, Autry Meeker, Matt Meeker, Steve Askins, John Wesley Noble, and David Lasater.

Ruby D. Roper

Ruby D. Roper, 92, of Scranton died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in Fort Smith.
She was a member of Johnson Freewill Baptist Church of Dublin, daughter of the late Press and Martha Taylor Denton, widow of Clyde Roper, and was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and James Koenigseder of Fort Smith and Betty and Junior Stovall of Scranton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ottis and Velta Roper of Fort Smith, Ronnie and Janice Roper of Charleston, and Darrell Roper of Paris; grandchildren and spouses, Roy and Carla Roper, Janice and James Rector, Larry and Sandy Roper, Randy and Teresa Roper, Tracy Roper, Dana and Kevin Walker, Rita and Paul Athey, Tommy Stovall, Mark and Cherie Koenigseder, Karen and Mike Pallone, and Nicholas and Rebecca Roper; great-grandchildren and spouses, Jacelyn Rector, Brent and Lori Roper, Sara and Mike Harp, Kristen and Jason Calvillo, Riley and Kelly Roper, Chris and Erin Stovall, Jerrod and Sydnie Koenigseder, Dallas Pallone, Aaron and Hayden Walker, Jared, Leagh and Steven Roper; and great-great-grandchildren, Noah and Christian Harp, Brooklond Morrow and Jayden Lowe.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Johnson Freewill Baptist Church at Dublin.
Burial was in Ware's Chapel cemetery at Dublin under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Grandsons served as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were grandsons-in-law.

Sharon Zollicoffer

Sharon Kay Zollicoffer, 54, of Irving, Texas, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, in Irving, Texas.
She was a native of Clarksville and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Second Ward in Irving, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil Zollicoffer; three daughters, Gena Zollicoffer, Marci Zollicoffer and Sarah Zollicoffer, all of Irving, Texas; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael and Carol Zollicoffer, Adam Zollicoffer and Leonard Zollicoffer, all of Irving, Texas; mother, Marcella Self of Coal Hill; four sisters, Karon Sharp of Hartman, Vickie Duncan of Camden, and Connie Gage and Linda Bowen, both of Ozark; and six grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Clarksville.
Burial was in Nichols Chapel cemetery at Altus under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Hutchinson, Jeffrey Hutchinson, Johnny Hutchinson, Robert Zollicoffer, Keith Zollicoffer, and Richard Zollicoffer.

William Blackman

William (Blackie) Blackman, 82, of Clarksville died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Vernon, Texas, son of the late Larry Bennett and Lennie Yokum Blackman, member and deacon of First Baptist Church, retired policeman, Army veteran of World War II, and former resident of Greenville, Miss.
Survivors include his widow, Wanda Vinson Blackman; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Raye Blackman of Hernando, Miss., and Bruce and Peggy Blackman of Roswell, Ga.; three sisters; six brothers; two grandchildren and spouse, Michael and Angela Blackman of Cummins, Ga., and Sarah Blackman of Roswell, Ga.; and three great-grandsons, Aubrey, Avery and Austin Blackman, all of Cummins, Ga.
Burial was at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at the Price cemetery at London. A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the First Baptist Church in Clarksville with Dr. Robert Brown officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 924 South Crawford, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Annie Quinton

Annie Neal White Quinton, 84, of Eufaula, Okla., died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003.
She was a native of Hagarville, former resident of Johnson County, widow of William P. White and Calvin (Dude) Quinton, and was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Annie Gertrude Neal and Verna Neal; one son, Jackie Joe Hicks; four brothers, Nathan, Hugh and James Neal and Champ Clark; and two sisters, Norma Bramlett and Kate Hodges.
She is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Mary Hanshew of San Diego, Calif., Billy and Vivian White of Gladstone, Mo., Bobby and Galena White of Kansas City, Mo., James and Patt White of Greenwood, Larry and Barbara White of Lamar, and Ed (Gabe) and Carla White of Hagarville; four daughters and sons-in-law, Emma Jean and Glen Beatty of Merriam, Kan., Coleta and Chris Christmas of Eufaula, Okla., Teresa and Steve Larrison of Clarksville and Debbie and Bill Holt of Quinton, Okla.; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Gertrude Neal Barr of Clarksville, Irene Wiley of Conway and Jessie Mae and Charles Brown of Clarksville; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Second Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Jim Wiley and Rev. Matt Weaver officiating. The funeral will be preceded by visitation from 1-2 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Lamar cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie White, Kevin Don McKinney, James Larrison, Mike White, Josh White and Shawn Rigdon.

Earl W. Doss

Earl W. Doss, 81, of Coal Hill died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark.
He was a retired coal miner, member of the Coal Hill Methodist Church, former mayor of Coal Hill with 15 years of service, past school board member, and was preceded in death by two daughters, Brenda Doss and Linda Pyron.
Survivors include his widow, Clara Doss; two daughters, Donna Raible of Coal Hill and Debbie Witherspoon of Bryant; one son, Jerry Brown of Bluffton, S. C.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial in Houston cemetery at Altus.
Pallbearers were Don Doss, Jimmy Doss, Tommy Doss, Robert Hurst, Johnny Jackson, and Hartsell Zolliecoffer.

Elmer W. Bly

Elmer Wesley (Sonny) Bly, 64, of Rock Springs, Wyo., son of Eula Bly of Lamar, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at his home.
A native of Clarksville, he was a son of the late Elmer Bly, former resident of Buena Vista, Calif., former coal miner, retired employee of General Chemical after 30 years, member of the United Steel Workers of America where he spent several years as a steward officer and member of the negotiating team, United States Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War, and was preceded in death by one sister, Flo Bly.
Survivors include his widow, Dar Bly; two daughters and sons-in-law, LaDawn and Ben Kidd and Stacey and Mike Court; one grandson, Taylor Court; two brothers, Michael Bly and David Bly, both of Florida; and one adopted son, Travis Schwanebeck.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Vase Funeral Chapel in Rock Springs, Wyo. Cremation was by Vase White Mountain Crematory.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Archie Hay Post #24, 543 Broadway Avenue, Rock Springs, WY 82901.

Emmett E. Gray

Emmett E. Gray, 72, of Knoxville died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Knoxville, son of the late Leonard W. and Mary Lois Clubb Gray, attended the Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Gray and Mary Aust.
Survivors include his widow, Christine Case Gray; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jay and Peggy Gray of Oakley, Calif., and William B. (Bill) and Charlene Gray of Lamar; one sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Brice Freeman of Russellville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with burial in the Knoxville cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Shane Gray, Ralph Graves, Charlie Boone, Clyde Patterson, Jerry Hicks, and Jerry Breedlove.
Honorary pallbearers were Harmon Jackson, Paul Ray Parker, Arvel Lee Parker, and Claude Parker.
