Edward Wheeler Jr.

Edward Wheeler Jr., 74, of Hagarville died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at his home.
He was retired from the U. S. Army, lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and American Legion, and son of the late Columbus E. and Ruby E. Mooney Wheeler.
Survivors include his widow, Helen M. Jensen Wheeler; seven daughters, Marietta Smith and Celena Harris, both of Marina, Calif., Nora Jean Hegerty and Betty Jean Lessies, both of Colorado, Cora Ann Malony of Oregon, Ruth Ann Tucker of California, and Jean Ann Farley of Indiana; one sister, Floy Stewart of Rich Hill, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Freda E. Redding

Freda E. Redding, 97, of Paris, grandmother of Mona Rinke of Clarksville, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at Paris.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Paris where she was a member of the Women's Ministries, quilter, crafter, widow of Lawrence A. Redding, and was preceded in death by three sons, Lawrence Harold Redding, Garner Neil Redding and Joey Jack Redding; two daughters, Edna June Winn and Emma Jean Redding; and three granddaughters, Janice Carrol Winn, Joey Jacqueline Redding and Rhonda Jo Forst.
She is survived by one daughter, Willa Dean Coleman of Bealton, Texas; one sister, Floy Cook of Portage, Ind.; seven other grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, including Connor Rinke and Caitlin Bauer of Clarksville; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at the First Assembly of God Church at Paris.
Burial was in Oakwood cemetery at Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
Pallbearers were Jim Maddox, Larry Redding, Robert Redding, Alan Redding, Casey Bauer, Corey Bauer, Craig Brightwell, and Jerry Linville.

Jo Ann Marvel

Jo Ann Marvel, 45, of Little Rock died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center.
She was an employee of Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance, Baptist, and was preceded in death by grandparents, Albert and Hazel Marvel and Florine Green.
Survivors include her parents, Bruce and Pat Marvel of Conway; grandparents, Iona and Henry Slankard of El Dorado, two brothers, Thomas Marvel of Russellville and Craig Marvel of Conway.
Graveside services and burial were at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at the Hartman cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society.

Kella Marie McBee

Kella Marie McBee, 96, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Sparks Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Fallsville, daughter of the late William Butler and Florence Ledbetter Brown, widow of Graves McBee, former resident of Clarksville, and member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
Survivors include three daughters, Lois Brasher of Fort Smith, Betty Stumbaugh of Lubbock, Texas, and Dianna Foster of North Richmond Hills, Texas; one son, Dorlon Snow of Bentonville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Doug Hixson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gary Brown, Ben Foster, Marty Snow, Hank Snow, Jesse Snow and Tyler Fields.

Mona F. Allen

Mona Faye Kilburn Allen, 71, of Sheridan died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late John Henry and Liza Bethalen Hunt Kilburn, widow of Billy Earl Allen, member of New Life Fellowship Church at Sheridan, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Dianne Allen; and two brothers, Edsel Floyd Kilburn and J. E. Kilburn.
She is survived by two sons, Charley Allen of Ozone and Robert Allen of Clarksville; seven daughters, Billie Stone, Mary Brown and Remona Green, all of Sheridan, Nina Tolleson of Malvern, Carolyn Owens of Grapevine, Chris McKinney of Russellville and Kathy Bean of Alexander; two brothers, Jim Kilburn of North Las Vegas, Nev., and Jerry Kilburn of Houghton Lake, Mich.; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Rev. Tommy Cypert and Rev. Steve Cypert officiating. Burial will be in the Leola cemetery at Leola.
Active pallbearers will be Derek Green, Aaron Owens, Preston Owens, Ray Owens, Ritchie Kindrex and James Case.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Jones and James Hester.

Martha M. Rice

Martha Morrow Rice, 99, of Fayetteville died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Butterfield Trail Village Health Care Center.
She was a native of Fort Smith, daughter of the late Arthur Hugh and Okla Payne Morrow, widow of Prentice Roe Rice, attended Goucher College in Baltimore, Md., where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta, former Latin teacher at Fort Smith High School, member of the PEO and First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, Fort Smith and Clarksville, and was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Payne Morrow.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Hugh H. Brewer of Fayetteville; three grandchildren and spouses, Rice and Ruth Brewer of Fort Smith, and Payne and Tina Brewer and Dr. Martha and Craig Sharkey, all of Fayetteville; and six great-grandchildren, Leigh Allison, Hugh R. Brewer Jr., Andrew Brewer, Blake Brewer, Caroline Sharkey and Christine Sharkey.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at First United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Norwood V. Brown III officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.
Memorials may be made to the Prentice and Martha Rice Endowed Scholarship Fund, University of the Ozarks, 415 North College Avenue, Clarksville, AR 72830, First United Presbyterian Church, 695 Calvin Street, Fayetteville, AR 72701, or First Presbyterian Church, 12th and B Streets, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Magdalene Sparks

Magdalene (Polly) Garner Sparks, 81, of Lamar died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at her home.
She was a native of Lamar, daughter of the late Oliver and Ruth North Garner, widow of Kermit C. Sparks, retired employee of Clarksville Footwear, lifetime member and past worthy matron of Lamar Chapter No. 514 Order of the Eastern Star, former secretary-treasurer of the Lamar cemetery Association, and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Lamar United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and John Lee of West Helena, Rosanna and John Collins of Sapulpa, Okla., and Susan and Phillip Sturdy of Lamar; two grandchildren, Robert Collins and wife, Linda, of Sand Springs, Okla., and DeAnna Collins of Tulsa, Okla.; four great-grandchildren, Chastity and Chelsea Hardage of Sapulpa, Okla., and Kyle and Ashley Collins of Sand Springs, Okla.; and two nephews, Earl Garner of Flint, Texas, and Donny Garner of Richmond, Va.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Lamar United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Michael Thurman officiating.
Burial will be in Lamar cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Memorials may be made to the Lamar United Methodist Church.

Pauline Page Ramsey

Pauline Page Ramsey, 73, of Dover died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at AMI St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
She was a native of Treat, attended Hatley Missionary Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Page; one son, Robert Thomas Ramsey; two brothers, James and Harvey (Jake) Page; and four sisters, Hazel Ledford, Ruby Phillips, Katie Ragsdale, and Joyce Loyd.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil J. Ramsey; one son, Carl James Ramsey of Washington; two daughters, Connie Elaine Ramsey Brazier of Michigan and Brenda Marie Ramsey Foust of Pennsylvania; mother, Sinda Lou Ross Page of Russellville; one sister, Juanita Wilson of Dover; five grandchildren, Kimberly McAlister, Kristin Moore, Thomas Matthew Brazier, Jason Foust, and Meggan Swisher; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with Rev. George Boyd and Rev. Lester Barnes officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville.
Active pallbearers were Eric Wilson, Steve Howell, Wayne Loyd, Verne Moore, Aubry McAlister, and Thomas Matthew Brazier.
Honorary pallbearer was Steve Wilson.

Ruby J. Fowler

Ruby J. Fowler, 80, of Knoxville died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at her home.
She was a Baptist, church pianist, daughter of the late A. E. and Ruby Lizie Blankenship McDaniel, and widow of William H. Fowler.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Denton of Tulsa, Okla., and Debbie Hensley of Harrison; two sons, Denny Fowler of Conway and Don Fowler of Russellville; one sister, Ruth Compton of Greenwood, Miss.; one brother, Cecil McDaniel of Mississippi; and one granddaughter, Cheryl Skiles.
Graveside services and burial were at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at the Knoxville cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Milloway officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
