John K. Yandell

John Kenneth Yandell, 78, of Everett, Wash., died Aug. 31, 2003.
He was a former resident of the Lone Pine Community, son of the late Hugh Michael and Anna Mickel Yandell, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Erma-Lee Pitts and Jeffe Ashlock; three brothers, Roger, Robert and Francis (Jack) Yandell; and several nieces and nephews.
Survivors are his widow, Lucille Yandell; two sons, John and Keith; one daughter, Judy Nissen of Oregon; four brothers, Archie of Clarksville, Thomas of Searcy, and Argus and Carl of Coos Bay, Ore.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral was at noon Saturday, Sept. 6, at Solie Funeral Home in Everett, Wash., with private graveside services at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park followed by a reception at the family home.

Kenneth W. Atkinson

Kenneth Warren Atkinson, 87, of Clarksville died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired Hanford Poultry Company employee, member of Spadra Baptist Church, and son of the late Jasper N. and Una L. Galloway Atkinson.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Elwanda and Glen Jones of Tulsa, Okla., and Doris Davis of Coal Hill; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Jane Atkinson of New Caney, Texas; four grandchildren, Jerry Dale Jones of Glenpool, Okla., James Atkinson and Jeffry Atkinson, both of New Caney, Texas, and Christopher Davis of Fort Smith; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Bob Oden officiating. Burial was in East Mt. Zion cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Sexton, Mikey Sexton, Carroll Pruett, Charley Davis, and Dutch Houston.

Mary Jo Hurst

Mary Jo Hurst, 59, of Coal Hill died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Frank and Beatrice Westover Shain, member of Spadra Methodist Church, 1961 graduate of Hartman High School, retired Tyson Foods employee, and was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank Jr., Harold, Joby, Bobby and Johnny Shain.
Survivors include her husband, Joe B. Hurst; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Danny Nichols of Clarksville; one son, Joe M. Hurst of Coal Hill; two sisters, Helen Sanders of Clarksville and Wanda Scheittecotte of Osceola, Ind.; and one grandchild, Carson Nichols of Clarksville.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Rink officiating. Burial was in Union Grove cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Kenney Elkins, Kevin Sanders, Charles Evans, Woodrow McWilliams Jr., Don Bartlett and Les Brown.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Wilson, Roy McGlothlin, Don R. Hurst Jr., and Paul Brasel.
Memorials may be made to Spadra Methodist Church, 312 CR 2228, Hartman, AR 72840.

W. A. Cunningham

Funeral for Wilbern A. Cunningham, 83, of Kibler, who died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, in a Fayetteville hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at Sunnyside Assembly of God Church.
Burial will be in the Porter cemetery at Hunt under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Ellison, Billy Ellison, Albert Ellison, Gail Ellison, Daniel Ellison, Wayne King and Carl Sears.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Ocker Funeral Home at 700 Jefferson in Van Buren.
Cunningham was a World War II Army veteran, retired Whirlpool Corporation employee and was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Cunningham.
He is survived by one sister, Lennie Willis of Kibler; and several nieces and nephews.

Craig VanDenBerg

Craig Allen VanDenBerg, 28, of Ozark died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, in Ozark.
He was a native of Ozark and a self-employed operator of Vandees Store in Ozark.
Survivors include his widow, Kristi VanDenBerg; one daughter, Olivia Teresa VanDenBerg of Alabama; one son, Gage Allen VanDenBerg of Alabama; mother, Elizabeth VanDenBerg of Ozark; and two brothers, Andrew Soenksen and Brian Hutchinson, both of Altus.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at South Park with Rev. Mike Pennington officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
The body was cremated.

Ernest M. Tate

Ernest Marlind Tate, 68, of Clarksville died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was retired from the U. S. Marine Corps, served in Vietnam, former employee of Gulf Oil and U-Haul Company of Arkansas, was the developer of Shadow Valley Subdivision, a Baptist, son of the late Ermal and Estelle Davis Tate, and was preceded in death by one son, David Tate; one great-grandchild, Colton Krumdick; one brother, Archie Tate; and two half-brothers, Howard Blakenship and Paul Blakenship.
Survivors include his widow, Betty Louise Tate; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Greg Krumdick of Clarksville; two sons, Ernie Joe Tate and Michael Tate, both of Clarksville; four brothers, Lonnie Tate of Clarksville, Edward Tate of Fayetteville, Gerald Tate of Rogers, and Malcolm Tate of Ozark; four grandsons, Jeremy and Jason Krumdick of Clarksville and Lucas and Joey Tate of Dover; one granddaughter, Freedom Tate; and one great-grandchild, Devan Tate.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Roller-Cox Chapel with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Tate, Edward Tate, Cully Tate, Douglas Tate, Gerald Tate, Malcolm Tate, Terry Tate, and Curtis Easter.

Flora B. Wilson

Flora Bertha Wilson, 81, of Hagarville died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, daughter of the late John T. and May Warren Barber, and widow of Gorman S. Wilson.
She is survived by four sisters, Anna Freeman, Rosetta Barber, Mary Barber and Wanda Crumrine, all of Hagarville; and two brothers, Bill Barber of Owasso, Okla., and J. T. Barber of Hagarville.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Hagarville Church of Christ with John Ballard officiating.
Burial was in the Adams cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were James Freeman, Gary Don Barber, Ronnie Crumrine, James Hurst, Vaughnon Freeman, Don McCall, Ronnie Crumrine Jr., and Michael Barber.
Honorary pallbearers were Leland Freeman and Bobby Freeman.

Mary C. Pleva

Mary C. Pleva, 60, of Clarksville died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at her home.
She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late John Kremers, graduate of St. Scholastica High School at Fort Smith, graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing in Little Rock and the first nurse in the Clarksville School system, and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Pleva; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Anne Pleva of Oak Creek, Wis.; mother, Dorothy Kremers of Clarksville; two brothers, Joe Kremers and Tom Kremers, both of Clarksville; and eight nieces and nephews.
Rosary was at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. William Wewers, O.S.B., officiating. The body was cremated. Local arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

William Reasoner

William W. "Bill" Reasoner, 61, of Clarksville died Satuday, Aug. 30, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Russellville, son of the late Clark and Sybil Webb Reasoner, retired from Whitson-Morgan Motor Company where he served as assistant service manager, after having worked as a service manager in Bozeman, Mont., for over 21 years, past president of the Jaycees in Cabot, former member of the Civil Defense Team and volunteer fire department in Cabot and a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Glynda Reasoner; one son and daughter-in-law, William Stephen and Aimee Reasoner of Bozeman, Mont.; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Dan Adams of Hampton, Ga.; father-in-law, Luther Carroll and wife, Theresa, of Cabot; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Melody Reasoner of Clarksville; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Leonard Cowan of Stockton, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, Chris, Danny, Ashley, Bridger, Harrison, J. T., Skyler and Connor.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Wingo officiating. Burial will be in Graves cemetery near Delaware. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Asociation, Arkansas Affiliate, Inc., 212 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205-1573.
