Evelyn E. Rogers

Evelyn Earlene Rogers, 55, of Elkins died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at her home.
She was a native of Alix, daughter of the late Willie Qualls and was employed by Georgie's as a poultry vaccinator.
Survivors include her husband, Junior Rogers; one daughter, Melissa Dobbins of Pea Ridge; one son, Rodney Dobbins of Newport News, Va.; mother and stepfather, Joy Ruth and Coy Ellison of Ozark; one sister, Sharon Walker of Ozark; one brother, David Ellison of Ozark; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Sawrie officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery at Ozark.
Pallbearers will be Mack McClellan, Shayne Ellison, Allan Ellison, Aaron Ellison, Dion Walker and Bobby Harold Qualls.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Shaffer Funeral Home.

Bill Sparks

Bill Sparks, 80, of Lamar died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at his home.
He was a native of Lamar, son of the late Henry and Floy Dobbs Sparks, retired mechanic, Army veteran of World War II, member of the Assembly of God Church and American Legion Bunch Walton Post No. 22, and was preceded in death by eight sisters; two brothers; and one granddaughter, Dawn Marie King.
Survivors include his widow, Jewell Ragsdale Sparks; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Duane Noyes and Aneta and Mike Mills, all of Russellville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and June Sparks of Russellville and David and Susan Sparks of Clarksville; two sisters, Nova Rhodes and Ruby Baker, both of Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Jeff Sparks, Robbie Sparks, Steven Sparks, Scott King, Bryan Mills, Greg Sparks, Tammy Rogers and Emily Sparks; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Lee's Chapel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dewayne Holland and Rev. Ken Partain officiating.
Military graveside service will be conducted by Russellville VFW Post No. 2283 with burial in the Owens cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Sparks, Robbie Sparks, Steven Sparks, Scott King, Bryan Mills and Greg Sparks.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Hardwicke Funeral Home.

Deidre R. West

Deidre Rochelle West, 24, of Clarksville died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 352 approximately one mile west of Clarksville.
She was a native of Clarksville, 1997 graduate of Clarksville High School, member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Truman and Wanda Embry; and paternal grandparents, George and Myrtle West.
Survivors include her mother, Frances Gonzalez of Clarksville; father, Winfred West of Ozark; two sisters, Alexis West and April West, both of Ozark; seven uncles, Curtis Embry, Lowesta Shurn and John West, all of Clarksville, Timothy Kelso of Kansas City, Mo., George West of Sacramento, Calif., Melvin West of Los Angeles, Calif., and Rev. Thelbert West of North Carolina; six aunts, Oma Spencer of Wilmington, N. C., Frances Shurn and Mary West, both of Clarksville, Joann West of Sacramento, Calif., Reba West of Los Angeles, Calif., and Geraldine Kelso of Kansas City, Mo.; and one cousin, Fallon Embry of Claremore, Okla.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Hinkle officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Hammons, Steven Willis, Gavin Ludgood, York W. Sims Jr., Rosco Gordon Jr., Bobby Joe Luster, Karl Hubbard, and Jerome Luster.

Floy E. Martin

loy Elizabeth Martin, 93, of Coal Hill died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, in Clarksville.
She was a Baptist, native of Dover, daughter of the late Howard and Hattie Reynolds Hard, widow of Clyce William Martin, and was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Bob Martin.
She is survived by three sons, Frankie Martin of Hot Springs, Willard Martin of Knoxville, and Tommy Martin of Coal Hill; two sisters, Anna Wright of Tulsa, Okla., and Hazel Vaught of Porterville, Calif.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Amos Pledger officiating. Burial will be in Coal Hill cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Shaffer Funeral Home.

Jetta J. Harkreader

Jetta Jean Harkreader, 72, of Hartman died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, retired Tyson Foods employee, daughter of the late Clifton and Anna Mae Drewry, and was preceded in death by one sister, Maxine Drewry; and one brother, C. J. Drewry.
Survivors include her husband, J. R. Harkreader; five daughters and sons-in-law, Lavern and Tim Wages, Lavonne and Robert Veale, Jane and Buddy Burgess, and Pee Wee and Larry Stroud, all of Clarksville, and Janice and Lazaro Perez of Russellville; one son and daughter-in-law, Lanny and Susie Bicio of Ozone; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Drewry of Alma, Jimmie Harkreader of Hartman, and Ardella Harkreader and one brother-in-law, Haskel Harkreader of Hartman; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Burnett King officiating.
Burial was in Union Grove cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Dillion Burgess, Jason Daniels, James Kasper, Danny Daniels, Sterling Penix, and Jackie Thomas.
Memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 606 Estate Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.

James H. Oliver

James Horace Oliver, 83, of Paris, father of Jerry Oliver of Clarksville, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003.
He was a retired coal miner, member of the Assembly of God Church, son of the late Melton Forest and Lou A. Ballinger Oliver, and was preceded in death by his wife, Retta Mae Casey Oliver; and two grandsons, Todd and Jim Oliver.
He is survived by two other sons, James Oliver of Russellville and Billy Oliver of Dardanelle; one sister, Ester Reel of Paris; one brother, Raymond Oliver of Orville, Wash.; six grandchildren, Andrea Turner of Ozone, Christina Mason of North Carolina, Tammie McMunn of Little Rock, Michael Oliver of Dardanelle, Scotty Oliver and Angela Countryman of Russellville; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Roller Chapel in Paris with burial in McVay cemetery at Paris.
Pallbearers will be Paul Gean, Darrell Turner, Butch James, Scotty Oliver, Wesley Oliver, and Zachary Oliver.

Kendall K. McClain

Kendall Kent McClain, 39, of Cedarville, brother of Shannon Chote of Lamar, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Highway 59 approximately one-half mile north of Cedarville High School.
He was a native of Fort Smith and a former resident of Ozark.
Survivors include his parents, Nancy and Frank Medlock of Ozark and Jackie and Mary McClain of Van Buren; two brothers, Donn Richard McClain and Scott Medlock, both of Ozark; three other sisters, Nanette McClain and Carolyn Davis, both of Van Buren, and Tammy Hayes of Rudy; maternal grandmother, Inez DeVito of Fort Smith; paternal grandmother, Audrey McClain of Ozark; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Ozark First Christian Church with Rev. Wendell Keller officiating.
Burial was at cemetery Ridge under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

Lonzo Edgar

Funeral for Lonzo Edgar, 63, of Fort Smith, who died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren.
Burial was in Spadra cemetery near Clarksville.
Pallbearers were nephews and great-nephews.
He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include three sisters, Florence Chandler of Rudy, Pat Brumley of Mountainburg, and Emmer Mooney of Carthage, Miss.; and one brother, Carl Edgar of Dyer.

Maxine Porter

Maxine Porter, 81, of Lamar died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a native of Johnson County, daughter of the late Alnut and Lula Woods Davis, widow of Orby Porter, a retired nurses aide, member of the Assembly of God Church, and was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Mary Maxine Clark; one son-in-law, Paul Clark; two brothers, Loyd and Noel Davis; and two half-sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Lee Clark of Lamar; two half-sisters, Wilma Holt of Springdale and Lula May Derringer of Ohio; two brothers, Roland Davis of Clarksville and Boyd Davis of Conway; grandchildren, Dana Marie, Bobby Lee and Jo Ann Clark, all of Lamar; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, with Rev. Mike Payne and Rev. David Zeiler officiating.
Burial will be in Lamar cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Davis, James Davis, Wayne Davis, Craig Beerman, Jeff Arnold and Brian Fetters.
Honorary pallbearers will be Duane Steele, Carl Lee Porter, Phillip Wayne Porter, and Buddy Davis.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel.
