Father of Trudy (John) Busch of Tucson; and Brian (Debbie) Costello of Scottsdale; grandfather of Raymond Costello; brother of Eleanor Pfister of Philadelphia. Mass will be offered 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 1999 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco. Burial in TMP East Lawn cemetery. The family suggests donations in William's name be made to the Carondelet Hospice Services, 1802 W. St. Mary's Rd., Tucson, AZ 85745. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

WINSTON 'WINK' ADAM DAWKINS, 35, formerly of Tucson, AZ, departed this life on Tuesday, December 14, 1999 in Port Orchard, WA. Mr. Dawkins was 1982 graduate of Santa Rita High School, he later attended the University of Arizona, and joined the United States Navy in 1985.
Mr. Dawkins is survived by his wife, Sheryl; children, Winston II and Jordon; parents, Frank and Lois Dawkins; and brothers, Frank Jr. and Bryon.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 21, at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1019 E. 31st Street at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing to be held on Monday, December 20, 1999 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 East Grant Road between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

DILL, Gladys O., 88, of Tucson, passed away on December 18, 1999. Survivors include her husband, Bill; children, Gayle (Paul) Gregory, Sandra (Joe) Thompson, Johnnie Prather, Richard (Diane) Dill; grandchildren, Brenda Gregory, Suzanne Gregory, Katharine Gibson, Robert Gibson, Chris Dill, Kimberly Buie, Julie Wunderlich, Jennifer Reinhard, Jillrae Dill; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Leitner and Janette Coltharp. Gladys was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Memorial service will be held at Holy Way Presbyterian Church, 4221 W. Ajo Way, Monday, December 20, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

GUTHRIE, Herbert J., Sr., 71, died December 18, 1999. Survived by beloved wife, Berta G. Guthrie. He served in the United States Marines and was awarded the Purple Heart. He also was a life member of the D.A.V. Post #2. No services were held. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

MARTIN LEON, SR. - Born December 31, 1902 in Nerva, Huelva province, Spain, passed away December 14, 1999, at the Valleyhouse Health Center in Tucson, Arizona. preceded in death by wife, Adelina Leon.
A self-made and highly motivated individual, Martin immigrated to this country at the age of 18 with his older brother Alonso. His career started in working in restaurants and steel mills of Cleveland, OH. Later he was the Language Teacher at Berlitz School of Languages in Cleveland. In 1942 he joined the government's Office of Strategic Services. For three years there he served his adopted country as a Secret Agent and instructor in the rank of Captain in North Africa and Italy during the World War II. After completion of duties during the war he became the Translator at the Pan-American Union and Organization of the American States; Teacher of Spanish in Washington, D.C. In 1952, he joined his wife Adelina and children in Tucson where they had moved during the war. Positions held in Tucson, Arizona were Land Surveyor for Pima County Highway Department, Electronic Operator for Hughes Corporation and Official Court Interpreter and Bailiff of Pima County Superior Court. He was recommended by the Honorable Raul Castro, Governor to the State Board of Industrial Commissioners and served his term fully.
He graduated from High School followed by two years of Mining Engineering in Spain and two years at Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Adobe #41; Teacher of Spanish and Portuguese languages; Teacher of the United States Constitution to future citizens; committeeman of the Pima County Democratic Committee; President of Spanish Club of Tucson; Former Officer of the Safford Credit Union.
He is survived by a son, Martin Leon, Jr. of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Delfina (Iradj) Azimi of Tucson, AZ; his sister, Eloisa Leon Torrado of Nerva, Spain; grandchildren, Martin Leon III, Barry Leon, Noel Leon, and Anita Azimi; five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 21, 1999 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

JOSE E. LOPEZ, 84, went to be with Our Lord December 17, 1999. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Socorro; his children, Richard (Mary), Frank (Connie), John (Lucy), Paul (Ofelia), Manuel (Olivia), Clorinda (Ruben) Rangel and Chita Arrellano; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; two brothers, Vicente (Olga) and Henry (Toni); three sisters, Rita, Anita, and Helen. Jose was a retired carman from the Pacific Fruit Express Co. A resident of Tucson for over 39 years. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 21, 1999 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., with Rev. Gilbert Garcia officiating. Burial to follow at East Lawn Palms cemetery.

SINGLETON, K.G., 70, of Tucson, passed away December 18, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Helen; daughter, Karen (Russell) Freeman; stepson, Albert Snell; stepdaughter, Nancy Strand, all of Tucson; grandchildren, Jennifer Freeman of Tucson, Jessica (Brian) Spradley of Ft. Worth, TX; great-grandson, Troy Spradley; brother, William Travis (Oneta) Singleton of Tucson; sister, Wilma Gealine (John) McGee of Catalina. Mr. Singleton was predeceased by a brother, Dee Elwin Singleton. He was a 63year resident of Tucson and a longtime letter carrier with the US Postal Service. Funeral Service Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY. Interment Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. until time of service. UNRUH, Irvin A., (1908, Durham, Kansas) died December 15, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona. Survived by his wife, Goldie M. Unruh of Tucson, Arizona; son, Stanley Unruh of Dusseldorf, Germany; daughter, JoLene Unruh of Tucson, Arizona; and two sisters, Evelyn Latta and Adeline Wetmore of Montezuma, Kansas. Rev. Unruh was a minister in the United Methodist Church all his life, serving churches in Kansas, India and Pakistan. Memorial service 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 21, 1999 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 8051 E. Broadway. Interment of cremains in St. Paul's Memorial Garden. ZUMANO, Guadalupe, 88, of Tucson, passed away December 18, 1999. preceded in death by husband, Manuel B. Zumano and sister, Rosa Sesma. Survived by daughters, Dora (Hector) Pina, Anita (Carlos) Verdugo; son, Hector (Socorro) Zumano. Also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 1999 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Wednesday, December 22, 1999, 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. ARMENTA, Ernest G., 61, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away December 18, 1999. Survived by wife, Maria Elena; daughters, Lisa (Victor) Aguilar, Sonia Elena (Eddie) Cordova and Marcella 'Cella' Armenta; son, Ernest (Anna) Armenta. Also survived by three grandchildren, Lauren, Cito, Melanie.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 23, 1999, 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine's Cathedral Church, with Rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. Mass will also be offered on Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral Church. Interment will follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
Retired after 30 years as a Battalion Chief from Tucson Fire Department. He earned his bachelors degree from the University of Arizona, then taught for Sunnyside School District and P.P.E.P. Tech Charter School. He touched and influenced many lives. He will be greatly missed. 'LOVE YOU DAD!'

BUSSIERE, Katherine M., 78, of Alexandria, VA, passed away December 18, 1999 at her family's home in Tucson, AZ. Born October 12, 1921 in Northfield Falls, Vermont. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Harriet Bussiere; sisters Lea Smith, Dolores Reed, and Ruth Klausen; brothers John and Wilfred Bussiere. She is survived by brothers Albert and Richard Bussiere and nieces and nephews in Arizona and New England. Graveside service 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at Our Lady of the Desert cemetery with burial next to her sister Lea. CHANCE, Beatrice L., born June 30, 1925 near Amado, AZ, passed away December 18, 1999 at Northwest Hospital in Tucson, AZ. Beatrice moved to San Manuel, AZ in 1955 and then to Oracle, AZ in 1961. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John F. Chance; children, Lorraine (James) Wharrie of Laguna Hills, CA, Geraldine (Harold) Rollins of Rock Springs, WY, Irene (Jim) Norby of Oracle, AZ; brothers Dave and Benjamin Ott, both of Sahuarita, AZ and sister, Mary Helen Clark of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at SOUTH LAWN cemetery.

CONWAY, Mollie, passed away at the age of 94, on Saturday, December 18, 1999, in Tucson. Predeceased in death by her husband, J.W. Conway. Mollie is survived by son, Edward A. Conway of Tucson, Arizona; grandsons, Michael A. Conway of Tucson, William C. and Wayne A. Conway of Cleveland, Ohio. Pastor Greg Levin of the New Life Baptist Fellowship Church will officiate the funeral service at ARIZONA MORTUARY UNIVERSITY CHAPEL, , Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at 11 a.m.

DAUBERT, Dawn Arleene, 73, of Tucson, passed away on December 18, 1999. Survivors include two sisters, one brother, two children, Chet Daubert of Tulsa, OK and Daun D'Anci of Vail, CO, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Dawn was preceded in death by her husband, Chet. As a teenager, she was an autograph hound who also aspired to be an actress. Dawn moved here nine years ago from New York and loved Tucson. She was a secretary by profession and also was a secretary for her Community Association in addition to doing volunteer work for St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

TERESA LOPEZ FEDERICO, 85, of Tucson, born April 7, 1914, died December 19, 1999. preceded in death by sister, Mary Majalca; brothers, Raul and Severo Lopez. Survived by daughters, Irene Noriega and Gloria Ruiz; son, Frank Federico; sisters, Marina Moran, Esther (Harry) Foust, and Paula Garcia; brothers, Aurelio Lopez and Raynold Moran; beloved niece, Angie Lopez. Also survived by 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In the 20's and early 30's when Tucson was a pueblito of less than 45, 000, Teresita Lopez was known for her beautiful nightingale voice, and the then popular honor of La Reina del 16 del Septiembre '36. Later she became the long time nurse to Doctor Brainard-Scott and Gillet and later to Dr. Jane Orient. She will be dearly missed by her long time friend and sister, Esther Foust and her beloved children, grandchildren and nieces.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Ambrose Church. Interment will be private.

HAVLIK, Bettie Jane, 74, died December 19, 1999. Mother of Becky (Ken) Munson Bell of Tucson and Craig (Diane) Munson of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister of Helen Bailey of Utah, Marian Weber and Marjorie Margosian both of Pennsylvania; grandmother of six grandchildren. Bettie Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred E. Munson. She later married Rudolph Havlik who also preceded her in death, as well as her brother, Robert Burnhamand and sister, Ruth Pierce. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the loving care provided by her physician and Hospice Family Care. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
