KILIAN, Leroy E., of Tucson, died February 1, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; son, Tyler; two brothers, Kenneth and Roger Kilian; seven brothers and sisters-in-law, Sylvia Salazar, Cleto, George, Priscilla, Billy, Jackie and Edward Martinez; 11 nieces and nephews. Leroy was born in Chicago, IL, he received his B.S. in Biology from New Mexico Highlands University and his Masters Degree in Entomology from Colorado State University. A 32 year resident of Tucson, he was the owner of Kilian Termite and Pest Control Company, Past President of the Southern Arizona Pest Control Association and State Pest Control Operators Association. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee, Friday, February 4, 2000 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd., Saturday, February 5, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Hope cemetery.

KILMER, Umbria M., 88, died February 1, 2000. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

KUPBENS, Violet E., 64, of Tucson, died January 29, 2000 in Salome, AZ. She was a great seamstress and a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survived by husband, Robert J. Kupbens of Tucson; three daughters, Barbara Kupbens of Tucson, Pamela Kupbens-Smith of Elk Grove, CA, Charlotte Redden of Tucson; son, Carlos G. Kupbens of San Jose, CA; brothers, Marvin Lawson of San Jose, CA, William Lawson of Ceres, CA, Eugene Lawson of Raymond, WA; sister, Lucretia Sturgeon of Ceres, CA; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Memorial Service Saturday, 11:00 a.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle Rd. & W. Miracle Mile.

JOHN F. LANCE - Born July 2, 1947, died from complications of epilepsy on February 1, 2000. John led a varied and interesting life. He grew up in Tucson and Arlington, Virginia. After serving on a sub tender in the U.S. Navy, he received an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Arizona. In the late 1970's and early 80's, John taught English as a Second Language in Mexico City, where he became fluent in Spanish. He also taught in Tokyo. Upon returning to the U.S., he taught at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Washington at Seattle. John was very active in the national organization of Teachers of English as a Second Language, and published two textbooks, 'Missing Person' and 'PAIRallels.'
John was an excellent musician with a special love of bluegrass. He was particularly accomplished on the guitar, mandolin, and banjo. John was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret, and father, John F. Sr. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Erica Mawbey-Lance of Edmonds, Washington; his mother, Kathryn H. Lance, and his sister, Kathryn Lance, both of Tucson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Casa de los Ninos, 1101 N. 4th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85705. An informal memorial service will be held in the 2nd floor chapel at Campana del Rio, 1550 East River Road, on Tuesday, February 8, at 1:00P.M.

LANE, James Edward, 43, died January 31, 2000. Son of Mary M. Lane and Wesley J. Lane; husband of Charlene Lane; father of James Lane; brother of Wesley Frank Lane and William (Pamela) Lane; grandson of Audrey Lane; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. He was a native Tucsonan and had been a Brick Mason for 25 years. Memorial Service 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2000 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with Rev. Howard Higgins officiating.

LIPSEY, Dwight, age 71, of Tucson, Arizona, died February 1, 2000. Survived by wife, Mary; daughters, Jacque (Kim) Rickman of Kearney, Michelle (Tom) McNeill of Tucson; sons, Joe (Eileen) Delaney of Tucson, Mike (Lisa) Delaney of Tucson; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Hazel Mitchell of South Carolina, and special cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (at Magee), from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 4th. Memorial Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Saturday, February 5th at 10:00 a.m.

LYON, Sister Patrick Bernard, CSJ, 67, died February 1, 2000. A native of San Diego, CA, she graduated from Our Lady of Peace Academy in 1950. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in Los Angeles in March 1951 and took her vows two years later. She received her BS degree in nursing from Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles in 1960 and was assigned to Daniel Freeman Hospital sponsored by the sisters in Inglewood, CA. In July 1961 when St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson opened Sister became director of surgery. In 1964 she received an MS degree in nursing administration from UCLA in Los Angeles. For several years she was Unit Director of Rehabilitation services at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson. She later worked at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Clinic in Tucson being the first sister of St. Joseph to minister there. Desiring to devote more time to the spiritual care of patients, she studied for her certification in pastoral care at Deaconness Hospital, Spokane, WA. Subsequently, she became full time director of Chaplain services at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson where she actively served for nearly 20 years. During these years she was an active fan of the University Wildcats football and basketball teams. She is survived by several cousins: Julie Dexheimer of Alpine, CA, Edgar Brown of Laughlin, NV, Marion Kari of Seattle, WA, Kathleen Stark of Poway, CA, Henry Eiring of Phoenix, AZ, Jim Eiring of Cheyenne, WY, Georgette Eiring of La Mesa, CA and Ethel Eiring of Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sister Patricks memory may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph Retirement Fund or to Chaplains' Services at Carondelet St. Joseph's Hospital. Address: Carondelet Foundation, 120 N. Tucson Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85716. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2000 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. The Mass of the Resurrection will be at 12:00 Noon, Friday, February 4, 2000 at St. Joseph's Parish Church, 215 S. Craycroft, with burial following at Holy Hope cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 3, 2000 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

McCOY, Glessie 'Fern' 89, born August 24, 1910 in Sparta, Missouri, died peacefully January 30, 2000 in Tucson. preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Verill M. McCoy and her daughter, Clara Mae Arana and sons, J.D. and Ronnie McCoy. Fern loved her family, loved to fish and was very active in the Southern Baptist community in earlier years. She moved to Tucson in 1950. She is survived by the legacy she leaves behind: her son, Jerry (Rayma) McCoy; grandchildren, Marsha (Jim) Samuelson, Steven G. (Kathy) Emberton, Jeanie (Dennis) Merideth, Louie (Susan) Arana, Jr., Laurice Clifton, Jeffrey (Jay) McCoy; great-grandchildren, Christine Castillo, Jennifer Samuelson, Lynette Salcido, Susan Gee, Debra Gramblin, Steven S. Emberton, Josiah Emberton, Elizabeth McChesney, Heather, Pamela and Alexander Merideth, Jacque and Robyn Arana, Matthew Clifton, Jason, Jacob and Jesse McCoy; great-great-grandchildren, Tommy, Nicholas and Haley Castillo, Garrett and Janaya Gaudette, Priscilla, Laura, Edward and Joshua Gee, Destiny and Breanna Gramblin. She is also survived by her sisters, Cleo Todd of Pomona, California and Janet Morris of Springfield, Missouri. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 4 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, at 11:00 a.m.

H. LeROY MEADOWS - Born on December 28, 1940 in Winchester, Indiana. He and his family moved to Tucson in 1947. Left this world on January 30, 2000. His family asks that you hold him in your heart as we are. LeRoy was a loving husband and friend to Gayle Meadows for 25 years. LeRoy built his life around nurturing his children and their families: Rebecca and Jeff Harris, Glenn and Cindy Parks, Sabrina and John Modrzejewski and Marjorie Parks. His grandchildren were the pride of his life, Kaeli, Lauren, Kauri, Sarah and Carly. Surviving sisters are Bonnie Harrod and Charlotte Michael. Memorial Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2000 at St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church, 4625 E. River Rd. Private interment will be at East Lawn Palms cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the H.L. Meadows Fund c/o Compass Bank (formerly Arizona Bank), 4707 E. OSWELL, Louisa L., 79, of Tucson, passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2000. Born March 6, 1920 in Aztec, New Mexico. She grew up in Aztec and then joined her husband for a lifetime journey that led them to California, Nevada and Arizona. She was an active and involved member of St. Mark's Methodist Church for almost 40 years, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the UMW. She was devoted to her family and friends and she helped support her family by selling Avon for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John. She is survived by her sons, Rudy (Penny) of Savannah, GA, Carl of Tucson, and Jeff of Tucson; brothers, Art and Robert; sisters, Rosalie and Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews. She had a kind and gentle spirit and will always be remembered for her beautiful smile. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2000 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Funeral Services private. Donations can be made to St. Mark's UMC, 1431 West Magee Road, Tucson, AZ 85704.

PADILLA, Frances F., 88, of Tucson, passed away February 1, 2000. Survived by daughters, Mary (Alfonso) Villasenor and Lydia (Manny) Garcia; sons, Henry (Carmen) and Fernando (Carmen) Duarte and Eddie (Yolanda) and Manny (Dolores) Padilla. Also survived by 35 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2000 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Saturday, February 6, 2000, 9:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

SONNENBERG, Robert Francis 'Bunny' died on January 28, 2000 at the age of 78. He was born in Rochester, Minn. on February 8, 1921, to Annie M. (Bakke) and Eckhardt T. Sonnenberg.
Mr. Sonnenberg was a truck driver for Harrington Trucking for 45 years while residing in Benson. He was a Charter member of Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Teddy.
'Bunny' Sonnenberg is survived by his wife, Lucille of Benson; a son, Robert F. Sonnenberg II of Benson; a daughter, Luann McGuire of Benson; two daughters by a previous marriage; brother, Richard L. Sonnenberg of Tucson; a sister, Betty Lou Haasey of Tucson; and one grandchild, Teddy McGuire.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2000 at Richardson's Mortuary, in Benson. Visitation will be held an hour before the service, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be: Robert Sonnenberg II, Ted McGuire, Richard Sonnenberg, George Bridgeford, Neil Ballard, and Jim Mellentine.
Arrangements were handled by the Richardson's Mortuary Chapel in Benson.

STONE, Bernard, 84, of Tucson, manager of the former Circle K Grocery in Tucson for 20 years before retiring in 1982, died February 1, 2000 at the Veterans Hospital in Tucson. He was the husband of the late Edith (Mintz) Stone. Born in New Bedford, MA, a son of the late David and Clara (Stuppel), he was a resident of Fall River, MA for many years before moving to Tucson. Mr. Stone served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was a member of Congregation Anshei Israel, #4 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Elk's Lodge #2532 and Sabbar Shrine, where he was known as the 'Candyman'. He leaves two sons, David Stone of Tucson and Bruce Stone of Los Angeles, CA; and three granddaughters. A funeral service will be held Friday in MA.

WAYANS, Kiiren Rashard, of Tucson, passed away January 27, 2000. A service will be held at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, Friday, February 4, 2000 at 1:00 with a visitation at 12:30. Arrangements by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 3277-6341.

WELLS, Barry, 49, of Tucson, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, January 30, 2000. His fiance, Kate Floyd; his children, Don (Diana) Wells, Pamela (Martin) Kline, Toni (Tim) Allison; his sister, Sherri (Gary) Romer; four grandchildren and two nieces survive Barry. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, February 4, 2000 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 3201 East Presidio at Noon. Interment will follow at Holy Hope cemetery, 3555 North Oracle Rd. Arrangements by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 327-6341.

WINTERS, Michael T., died January 31, 2000. Born August 8, 1912 in Big Foot, Texas, and moved with his parents shortly thereafter to Warren, AZ where his father practiced law and served several terms as a judge in Lowel. Mike served in the US Navy during WW II with the Seabees, constructing air bases in the South Pacific. He settled in Tucson in 1945 and was for many years the proprietor of Winters' Auto Body and Paint Shop. He was an active member of El Camino Baptist Church and Gideons International. Survived by wife, Jacque; children, Richard of Tempe, Victoria Clark of Glendale; grandchildren, Linn, Charla, Michelle LeAnn, Michelle Lynn and Connie; great-grandchildren, Josuha, Garrett, Channel and Derek. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 4 at El Camino Baptist Church, 7777 E. Speedway Blvd. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Remembrances may be made to El Camino Baptist Church.

VIRGINIA COWLEY ALLEN - Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on February 1, 2000. She was born July 17, 1919 in St. Johns, Arizona. She was fifth of six children born of Graham L. and Martha D. Cowley. She is survived by son, Dan (Ann) Misenhimer; daughter, Michelle (Jack) Lindsey; grandchildren, Dan (Diana) Misenhimer, Dean (Jill) Misenhimer, Denise (Scott) Sides, Virginia (Jason) Mejias, Megan McCombs, Tracey McCombs, Shelly McCombs, Carrie (Brian) Hall, Jimmy Hudson, Melissa Lindsey, Staci Lindsey and Travis Lindsey; and great-grandchildren, Whitney and Keely, Brooklyn, Ryanna and Bailey, Dylan and Caitlynn, Maxwell and Windsor. She is also survived by two brothers, Graham (Eva) Cowley and Hugh (Helen) Cowley of St. Johns, Arizona.
Virginia lived the majority of her adult life near and in Willcox, Arizona. She was active in Arizona Cattle Growers, Cowbelles, LCO Sorority and the Rex Allen Museum.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, February 7, 2000 at Grace St. Paul, 1231 E. Adams, Tucson, AZ at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ron Riggs Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Melanie Sakall, 11372 N. Sawtooth Rd., Tucson, AZ 85737, or the charity of your choice.

BAKER, Chester A., born May 22, 1945, passed away December 13, 1999. Mr Baker was an office manager. Friends are invited to gather at 6762 S. Leary on February 5 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

CZERPA, Margaret V., 86, died February 1, 2000 in Tucson. Survived by husband, Walter Czerpa; daughter, Mary (Stewart) Smith; two brothers, Paul Murphy and Eddie Murphy; one sister, Mary Sullivan and one granddaughter, Lacey. Rosary will be at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, February 5, 2000 at St. Joseph Parish, 215 S. Craycroft. Memorial Mass to follow. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338.
