BEAMISH, Theresa Steiner, 96, of Tucson, died Saturday, May 11, 1996. Beloved mother of Frederick; also surviving are her grandchildren, Rick, Mike, and Brian Beamish, Andrea Lewallen; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1940. She was born in Austria in 1900. Formerly of Warren, MI, she moved to Tucson in 1986. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd.

BEATTY, Lesley, 86, of Tucson, died May 10, 1996. Survived by her son, David (Robin) Beatty; sister, Jean Conner. Preceded in death by her husband, George. Mrs. Beatty resided in West Virginia after moving from England in 1918 after which she relocated to Tucson in 1962. She has been a longtime member of St. Marks Presbyterian Church. Memorial Service will be held at St. Marks Presbyterian Church, Wednesday, May 15, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Emeritus Paul David Sholin, J. Stuart Taylor and Sue Westfall, co-pastors officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Marks Presbyterian Church or Arizona Boys Ranch. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

EMERLING, Lawrence Milton (Larry) Sr., born January 13, 1926, passed away May 11, 1996. Loving husband of Mary of 48 years; father of Lawrence Jr., wife Cathy; daughter, Linda Clark, husband Herman. Will be greatly missed by grandson, Frank and great granddaughter, Ashley. His loving kindness and humor will be deeply missed. A Memorial to be held at Tucson Baptist Temple Chapel, 1525 S. Columbus Blvd at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 1996. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

FEE, Glenn W., 82, a resident of Tucson since 1980, passed away May 10, 1996. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Florence; sons, Robert (Sue) of Bradford, PA, James (Pennie) of Oil City, PA; foster daughter, Bonnie Burrows of Guys Mills, PA; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; brother, David (Ann) of Harwich, MA. Glenn worked for Exxon for 43 years as a plant supervisor. He was a life member of the Lions Club and with that organization for 53 years. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a volunteer for Travelers Aid one day a week since 1981. A very loving husband and father with many wonderful Christian friends. He was a very active member of First United Methodist Church. He will be sadly missed. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 21 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Devereaux and Rev. Lee Scott, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Travelers Aid or First United Methodist Church. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

HARRINGTON, Elvira M., 87, died May 11, 1996. Survived by her children, George V. Harrington of Huntsville, AL, Richard D. Harrington of Tucson, Nancy Ann Vrooman of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren also survive. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the charity of ones choice. Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

Gordon J. Hippert, M.D. 74, of Tucson, died Sunday, May 12, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Thomas (Leslee) Hippert; daughters, Marta (Jack) Izo, Jamie (Steve) Thrush, Heidi Hippert and her Fiance, Gary Nelson; grandchildren, Ben and Kristie Thrush, Jeff and Tim Izo; brothers, Erwin J. (Viola) Hippert, E. Roy Hippert. Dr. Hippert graduated from the University of Buffalo Medical School in 1945. After completing his internship he served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Upon his return he completed his residency in OB/GYN at the University of Buffalo. He was a founding member of A.C.O.G.; past president of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Cancer Society; and was Chief of Staff of OB/GYN at St. Mary’s Hospital and Tucson Medical Center. During his 43 years of medical practice he assisted many women and helped numerous children begin their life in a healthy and safe manner. Gordon loved sailing with the cool sea breeze on his face. The family wishes him a strong and steady wind on this passage. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Friends may call at the Chapel one hour prior to the service. Private Interment will be at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

JAYME, Richard Allen (Dickie), died in his sleep May 8, 1996 at the Veterans Convalescent Home. Preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Louis Jayme Sr. Survived by brothers and sisters, Louie, Virginia and Arlene Jayme, Ernie (Susan), Gilbert (Connie) Jayme, Catherine (Ed) McCormick; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, several aunts, uncle, and many cousins. Military services at Holy Hope Cemetery and Mausoleum Friday, May 17, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. Father Cyprian officiating and Honor Guard. Memorial Mass Saturday, May 18, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. at Guadalupe Chapel at 3rd Ave. and 31st St. Father Ignacio Bach officiating. JERGO, Charles Lewis, Sr., 65, of Tucson, died May 10, 1996. Survived by wife of 35 years, Mattie of Tucson; daughters, Mattie Shepherd of Galt, CA, Marjory Lewis of Tucson, Debbie Bradford of Las Vegas, NV; sons, Dion J. Jergo and Charles L. Jergo, Jr., both of Tucson, Charles Ray Jergo of Sacramento, CA, Roy Shepherd of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Cornelius Jergo of Houston, TX; stepmother, Ozell Calhoun of Kennard, TX; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends. MARTINEZ, Carlos Rene, Jr., 2 days, of Tucson, passed away May 11, 1996. Preceded in death by Baby Sister Alexia Riesgo Martinez. Survived by grandparents, Richard and Gloria Martinez and Susanna Riesgo and David Romero; parents, Carlos Martinez and Paulina Riesgo; many beloved Tios, Tias and cousins. MEHL, Gaylord A., 79, of Tucson, died May 10, 1996. Survivors include Leora, wife for 57 years; daughters, JoAnn Riley of ID, Marilyn Binion of Tucson; son, Larry of Tucson; brother, Ernest Mehl of Marshalltown, IA; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by father, James, mother Gina and nine brothers and sisters. Mr. Mehl was retired for 25 years and with his wife Leora enjoyed traveling, fishing, and their home in Tucson. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 1996. Funeral Services will be at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 1996 with Rev. Dale Jacobson officiating. CHREST, Thelma Elizabeth (Mrs. Clarence P. Chrest), 77, of Tucson, AZ (Kalamazoo and Richland, MI), died may 11, 1996. Survived by husband of 52 years, Clarence P. Chrest, MD of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Dianne Elizabeth Osis of Springfield, MO, Laura Jeanne Hoffman of Spreckels, CA, Janet Louise Pennell of Tucson, AZ; son, Charles Peter Chrest of Covington, KY; sister, Marjorie Ortmayer of McKinney, TX; brother, Barnaby Fluke of Dousman, WI; six grandchildren. JOHNSON, Edna M., age 83, passed away May 8, 1996. A resident of Tombstone from 1945 to 1953, she then became a resident of Tucson. She is predeceased by her husbands, Samuel Blough, George Garlits and Paul Johnson. Survived by her daughter, Sharon (Bud) Inorio; five grandchildren, Robyn (Paul) Riggleman, Todd (Mary) Inorio, Jeff Inorio, Gina (Hoyt) McDanel and Bret (Tracy) Inorio; three great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 1996 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., Rev. J.B. Reynolds of Emmanuel Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.

KNAGGE, Ester M., 61, of Marana, passed away May 10, 1996. Survived by daughters, Cecilia Molinar, Gloria Davidson, Norma Perez; sons, Luis Olivas, Leopoldo Olivas, Gilbert Olivas, Ronnie Olivas, Joe Luis Olivas; sisters, Helen Moreno, Ofelia Arreano, Maryanne Montoya; brothers, Jesus Maldonado, Cesario Maldonado, Epimenio Maldonado. Also survived by 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 1996 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (Center Chapel), 240 S. MYERS, Dorothy L., 64, of Wapakoneta, OH, died Friday, May 10, 1996. Survivors include five sisters, Lucille Steinke, Jean Reigelsperger, Lois Darling, Betty Gastelum, and Susan Zartman, all of Tucson. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, OH.

SHENFIELD, Lillian S., 79, passed away May 6, 1996 in Santa Clara, CA. A resident of Tucson from 1953-1981. Mrs. Shenfield received her teaching credential from the University of Arizona and taught third grade at Robison Elementary School until her retirement in 1978. She is survived by her sons, Roy of Saratoga, CA, Mark of Oakland, CA, and Gary of Corrolitos, CA; three daughters-in-law; and four grandchildren.

SKAY, Mary K., 65, of Tucson, passed away Saturday, May 11, 1996 with her family by her side. Born January 17, 1931 in Hill City, SD, Mary moved to Tucson in 1959. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim; sons, Lon (Lori), Tom, Jerry and Dan; daughters, Cindy and Christina (Warren); five grandsons and five granddaughters; sister, Phyllis (Don) Bassett of Moline, IL; brother, Thomas (Dee) Gorman Jr., of Hills City, SD; two nephews; three nieces; and dear friends, Louise C. Null. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Gorman Sr., mother, Millecent and daughter, Catherine. Always willing to lend an ear, she gave her whole life to family, friends, and neighbors. She was a devoted member of the Church of St. Cyril’s, 4725 E. Pima, where a Mass in her memory will be held Saturday, May 18, 1996 at 9:00 a.m. Our special thanks to the staff at Carondelet St. Josephs Hospital Transitional Care Unit and Hospice Unit for their patience, gentle care and encouragement. WANTZ, Richard, died May 10, 1996, age 33. Survived by mother, Irene (Manny) Pedregon; and father, Warren Wantz; sisters, Randi (Robin) Preiser, Gina Pedregon, Maria Pedregon and Mona Pedregon; brothers, Manny Pedregon, Sergio, Joey, Bernie, Vincent, John; nephews, Donnie Archuleta, Martin Tellez, and Gabriel DeSoto; and many loving friends. No services are planned.

VERNON, Richard G., 71, of Tucson, passed away May 19, 1996. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Louise Vernon; son, Robert S. (Nina) Vernon of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Barbara L. (Dennis) Sisk; granddaughters, Michele Sisk and Kristen Sisk, all of Tucson. Mr. Vernon was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, served in Pacific Theater, member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #2663, life member of American Legion, Post #73, member of Former Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #2231. Memorial Service Thursday 2:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle and W.
