ANDREE, Verlin, 81, of Tucson, died December 3, 1996. Survivors include: her daughter, Suzette (Kirk) Brookshier; son, Skip (Ann) Andree; grandchildren, Gary, Michael, Randy (Tara) Brookshier, Jeff (Tina) Brookshier, Michelle Andree, John Paul Andree; four great-grandchildren, Joe, Scott, Brenden, and April; and one brother, Hisey Harris of Arkansas. Mrs Andree opened up her first beauty shop, Andree’s Beauty Salon, with her husband Vitold, during the 40's in the Broadway Village. Later opening the first beauty shop in the Casas Adobes Shopping Center and one location at Broadway and Longfellow. In her later years, Verlin enjoyed expressing herself through canvas and china painting until arthritis prevented her from doing that which she loved the most. In spite of the pain she experienced, her loving smile and positive attitude will be greatly missed by all of us. Memorial Services will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), Saturday, December 7, 1996 at 1:30 p.m., with Dale Jacobson officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 6464 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, Arizona 85715 in the name of Verlin Andree.

BENNINGTON, J.T. ('Colonel B') lost his courageous battle with lung cancer on Monday, December 2, 1996, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anna Laura; son, J.T. Bennington, Jr (Mary Virginia); and granddaughter, Meagan Kelly; sisters, Rachel Weatherly of Wasilla, AK, Mary Lou Jeffcoat of Whitney, TX, Rubynelle Dixon of Nashville, TN, Helen Roberson of Alexandria, VA, Linda Tooley of Chesterfield, MO, Sandy Crawford of Irving, TX; brothers, Tommy Bennington of Rancho Cordova, CA and Raymond Bennington of Littleton, CO; and many nephews and nieces. J.T. was dedicated to his family, friends AND his country! He served in the Air Force as an enlisted person and officer for 31 years. J.T. respected his oath of service at all times as his loyalty to his country was evident to all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Cancer Center at the University of Arizona Medical Center and/or to St. Alban’s Building Fund. His Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m.Friday, December 6 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church located on Sabino Canyon Road, north of River Road. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington DC.

BONILLAS, Josephine P., 84, of Tucson, passed away December 2, 1996. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Casimiro G. Bonillas. She left behind her eight wonderful daughters, that she so very much loved 'more and more' Mary Fierros, Julie (Rene) Aragon, Dolores (Robert) Gomez, Olivia (Armando) Teyechea, Josie (Frank) Lopez, Yolanda (Bruce) Sellers, Connie (Albert) Lopez, Estella (Armando) Salgado;14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her one brother and four sisters and two very special cousins, tia Maria and Nene. The family would like to extend their gratitude to St. Joseph’s Hospice and the wonderful nursing staff. Visitation to be held on Thursday, December 5, 1996 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, December 6, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. BYALL, Robert S., 76, died December 3, 1996. Husband of Margaret L. Byall of Tucson; father of Robert G. Byall and John E. Byall, both of Tucson and Merry Lewers of Catalina; three grandchildren also survive. Memorial Service, 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 1996 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. CAMPOS, Albert A. 'Okie', 87, of Tucson, passed away December 2 1996. Survived by ex-wife, Concha Campos; daughters, Rosemary (Roberto) Nogales, Christina Campos, Lydia Cota, and Irene Garcia; son, Albert Campos Jr.; sister, Matilda Campos; brother, Gilbert Campos; also survived by 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 1996, 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.. Mass will be offered on Saturday, December 7, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

DORMAN, Inez M., 79, of Tucson, died December 2, 1996. She was very well loved and is survived by daughter, Bonnie(Donald) Harwood of Tucson; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.

HARRIS, Isabelle B., of Tucson, died November 24, 1996. Ms. Harris was born in California, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1896, a daughter of James M. and Alice Harris. She was graduated from California Normal School (later California University of Pennsylvania) in 1914 with a teaching degree. She taught in Perryopolis and Newell, Pennsylvania prior to her position as amusic and English teacher in Carrick High School, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She furthered her education at many schools, including the University of Munich, Germany, University of Michigan and the University of Pittsburgh where she earned her MA degree. She retired from teaching in 1953 and settled in Tucson, Arizona where she and her life-long friend, C. Gloria Paul, established the Paul-Harris Travel Agency. Ms. Harris retired from this business in the early eighties. She is survived by a brother, James A. Harris of Frankfort, Michigan; a sister, Mildred Conaway of Milton, Florida; and 20 nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; brothers, Joseph and George of California, Pennsylvania and Oliver of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; sisters, Eva Inks of Dawson, Pennsylvania, Margaret McCain and Mary Emelo of California, Pennsylvania. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in California, Pennsylvania and more recently, a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona. Ms. Harris was active in musical societies in the Tucson area, such as the Tucson Women’s Symphony Association and donated a pipe organ to the University of Arizona which was dedicated at Holsclaw Recital Hall on October 30, 1994. Ms. Harris was also very active in Hospitality International, now known as Tucson Council for International Visitors, which hosts international visitors, and was their treasurer for many years. Tucson Council for International Visitors works with the U.S. Information Agency. Memorial Service will be Saturday, December 7, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2450 E. Fort Lowell Road. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd.

KRESTA, Melvin Ray, 69, of Tucson, died December 3, 1996. Survived by his wife of 30 years, Manuela J. Kresta of Tucson; stepdaughters, Maria Overdorrf, Margaret Graves, and Catalina (Richard) Verduzco, all of Tucson; stepsons, Joe Plasentilla of Tucson, Manuel (Linda Bernie) Plasentilla of Augusta, ME; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, Richard (Zela) Kresta of Carlsbad, TX, Jack (Sylvia) Kresta of Ballinger, TX; sister, Dorothy (Jack) Jones of Odessa, TX; many nieces and nephews. Service Thursday, 5:00 p.m., Southside Presbyterian Church, 317 W. 23rd St., with Rev. John M. Fife, Pastor and Rev. H. Ricardo Elford, C. Ss. R., officiating. SANCHEZ, Eulalia M., 91, of Tucson, died December 1, 1996. She is survived by two daughters; one son; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on December 5, 1996 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm. at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N.Columbus, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A mass will be at Christo Rey Church, 4821 W. Calle Vicam, on Friday, December 6, 1996 at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvario. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

SMITH, Betty Watkins, quintessential grandmother, mother, and friend. Born March, 10, 1924, died December 4, 1996. Survived by sons, Gus Hiller (Sue), and Luke Hiller (Veronique); daughters, Robin (Tim Fuller) and Kate Hiller; also survived by grandchildren, Max, Mariah and Miquela Hiller, Brie Hiller-Hannon, Sam and Nathaniel Fuller and Eli Hiller Kay. Memorial Mass Saturday, December 7, 10:30 a.m. At St. Francis Cabrini, 3201 E. Presidio Road (one block east of Country Club, one block south of Ft. Lowell).

STEPHEY, Claire M. Entered into Eternal Rest on Dec. 3, 1996. Born on August 15, 1911 in Elkhart, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Stephey and son in-law, Fred Yunt. She is survived by her son and care-giver, Walter Stephey, Ja. of Tucson; daughters, Carol Yunt of Vista, CA and Shirley (Jack) Patty of Tucson; her sisters, Ethel Williams and Genevieve Bion, both of Elkhart, IN. Also survived by grandchildren, Fred Yunt II, Larry (Barb) Yunt, Steve (Debbie) Yunt, Ken Patty, Marcia (Carl) Ulbrich, Jeff (Cindi) Patty and Walter Stephey III. She also leaves 12 great-grandchildren. Claire was a charter member of the 1st Brethren Church in Tucson. Memorial Service to be held at 1st Brethren Church, 201 N. Columbus Blvd on Saturday December 7 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tucson Medical Centers Hospice will be appreciated or your favorite charity. Private Inurnment at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, CA.

TITUS, Roderick A., 84 years old, died December 3, 1996. Survived by his loving wife, Josephine 'Jody'; one brother, Tom M. Titus of Denver, CO; one nephew, Peter Titus of Conifer, CO. Memorial Services, Saturday, December 7, 1996, 1:00 p.m. at Grace St. Paul Episcopal Church, 2331 E. Adams St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.

WARRICK, Steven R., 34, died Tuesday, December 3, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by parents, Joe and Sherrill Warrick of Tucson; one sister, Donna Warrick of Tucson; niece, Sonder Layel; nephew, Collin Layel grandmothers, Josephine Warrick and Maxine Smith, both of Crawfordsville, Indiana. A Memorial Service for Steven will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 1996 at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, 8051 E. Broadway. WEAVER, Dale E. 61, of Marana, died Friday November 29, 1996. Mr. Weaver is survived by wife, Sue Weaver of Marana; son, Dale Allen Weaver; grandson, Justin Paul Weaver of Tucson; three sisters, Ruth Camp, Dorothy Camp, and Mildred Starkey of Logansport, IN. Preceded in death by son, Martin Jay Weaver. Dale divided his time between Marana, and Pagosa Springs, CO. He had a Gallery in Pagosa (The Lantern Dancer) and in Marana (Weaver Studio West). Memorial Service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 7 at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (at Magee) with Dr. Edward Hughs officiating. WYATT, M.D., Merlin R., 90, died December 4, 1996. Father of Marilyn Mohr of CO and William Wyatt of NE; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by wife Helen and sister Vera Rinderhagen. He was a WWII Army/Air Force Veteran serving as major and flight surgeon. Memorial Service 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 6, 1996 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with Father C. W. Odell officiating. Donations to the Church of the Holy Spirit, c/o of Treasurer John Tooroian, 7225 E. Sylvanbe, Tucson, AZ 85710 would be appreciated.

BEA, Viola Nellie Oetting. Viola Nellie Oetting Bea passed away Tuesday, December 3, 1996 at the El Dorado Hospital at Tucson, Arizona. Viola was born on October 23, 1922 at Cedar City, Missouri to John F. Oetting and Olive Mae Wilson Oetting. On March 25, 1939 she married Eldon W. Bea at Cedar City, MO. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with a party given by their children at the Hilton in Tucson, Ariz. They spent their married life in Missouri and Arizona. Viola attended Gravel Elementary School and School in Jefferson City, MO.Viola spent her life as a happy mother and homemaker. She was active in the Lady Auxiliary of Local Union 741 and she was an active bowler and member in the Tucson Women Bowling Association. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Her family was the closest the her heart and she enjoyed bringing them together for all the holidays. She is survived by her children, Larry, JD and Betty, Frankie, Ruth and Bob, Eldon, Duane and Pam, Rick and Barbara, her 13 grandchildren, Tiffany and Tim, Johnny, Terry and Brian, Michael, Timmy, Randy, Heidi, Michael Dwayne, Leanne, Ricky Jr, Chelsi; two great-grandsons, Brian and Christopher; her aunt, Iona Deyoung; her sister-in-law, Mildred Kermit; cousin, Roselee Madden and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She has left all of us with many warn and happy memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon W. Bea; her parents and two brothers, Charles and Herbert; and sister, Mary Francis. Thursday, December 5, Viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with services following at 7:00 p.m. at Hudgel’s SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 1335 S. Swan Rd, Tucson, AZ. Services will be conducted by Reverend North. Further service and burial will be held in Herman, MO.

BURCH, Phyllis A. (Susan), 59, born September 24, 1937, died December 1, 1996. She is survived by her husband, W.L. (Bill) Burch; and her children, Ronald, Sharon, John and Serena. The grandchildren are Andrea, Tony, Rachael, Nicole, Dillon and John. Also two wonderful and generous aunts in Romulus, Mich., Joanna Ruthkowski and Lucille Beltramo. We’ll never be able to thank them enough for their kindness and support. Susan was a second mother to many of the children of St. Augustine’s Cathedral where she taught religious education for 25 years and was also the Director of the Senior Citizens for 27 years. Her spirit and dedication will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank T.M.C. Hospice for their tender, loving and touching care. They made the hard days so much easier. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, with the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. by Msgr. Carrillo. Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave., at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 6. Funeral Services will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s name to the Building Maintenance Fund of the St. Augustine Cathedral. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, Tucson 881-0338.
