DAVIS, William T., 'Bill', 89, passed away after a lengthy illness November 5, 1996. Survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Verna A. Davis of Tucson; daughters, Nancy McGovern of San Rafael, CA., Deborah Patterson of Tucson; son, William T. 'Tom' Davis of San Diego, CA. Bill loved and was very proud of his 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bill was born in Covington, KY, June 28, 1907. He graduated Centre College in 1929 and joined the U.S. Army. He was a WWII Veteran and retired from the Army Reserves in 1967. He moved to Tucson in 1931 and was employed with the Post Office in 1935. Bill retired in 1970 to play golf and travel. He touched the hearts of a lot of people and made friends around the world. He will be missed by all that knew him but we are comforted to know that he is now at peace. Friends may call 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. where funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 8, 1996. Private burial will be at South Lawn Cemetery.

FISHER, Gerald (Jerry), 43, of Tucson, was a victim of a violent crime, died November 3, 1996. Predeceased by mother, Delores Davis. Survived by beloved family: father, Harvey (Betty) Fisher; sisters, Karen (Dan) Starkey, Charlynne (Max) Finch, Kathryn (Mario) Chavez; two nephews, four nieces. Funeral Services will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee, Friday, November 8, 1996 at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Clayton Gooden officiating.

HABERSTICH, Janet, 56, passed away October 31, 1996 at St.Joseph’s Hospital. Wife, mother and friend, she will be sorely missed by her husband of 32 years, Chuck; son, Mark; and daughter, Valerie. Jan graduated from Colorado State College in Greely, CO in 1959. She taught school for six years before devoting her life to her family, but still finding time for community service in many areas including England and Germany. Preceded in death by her father and mother, Floyd and Lucia Ragland. Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Following the service family and friends will gather at our home to celebrate Jan’s life.

MAXWELL, Edward, Jr., 58, of Tucson, died November 4, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; three daughters and three sons. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 1996, at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N.Columbus Blvd. Funeral services will be on Friday, November 8, 1996, at 11:00 a.m. at HEATHER MORTUARY. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

McCORMICK, James R., Jr., 41, of Tucson, died November 4, 1996. Survivors include: wife, Patricia McCormick; daughter, Shannon McCormick, Donnette, Julie; sons, James McCormick III, Renick and Thomas; mother, Josephine Long; father, James McCormick Sr.; brothers, John and Pete McCormick; sister, Diana and five grandchildren. Preceded in death by his brother, Ken and granddaughter, Dannielle Memorial Service will be at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, at 3:00 Friday with Rev. Julison Lyon, Tucson Baptist Temple officiating. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

POLAKIW, Wolodymyr 'Walter', 68, of Marana, died November 5, 1996. Survived by wife of 36 years, Barbara Polakiw; daughter, Anne (Kevin) Gifford of Tucson; son, Andrew T. Polakiw of Marana; grandchildren, Lacey and Joshua Gifford, Michael and David Polakiw; sister, Natalia Rubycz of Albany, New York; one niece; and one nephew. Memorial service Friday, 9:00 a.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY, with Rev. Andrew Barr of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church officiating. CASTILLO, Jose G., 66, died November 2, 1996. Survived by his lovely wife, Reina Castillo; and daughters, Becky Warnick, Viola Kuster (David); son, Richard Castillo (Anne); grandchildren, Vanessa Carrillo, Dominic Hermosillo, Tammy Carrillo Rojas, Jeremy Carrillo, Katrina Castillo, Richard Nicholas Castillo, Amber Nicole Castillo, Randy Jacob and Bridget Arron Jackson; grandchildren, Stacy Lord, Marcos Antonio Rojas; and brothers and sisters, Marylou Chavez, Antonio Castillo, Mike Castillo (Marylou) and Corina Saiz. There will be a visitation from 4:00 to 9:00 with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, at Our South Lawn Chapel, 5401 S. Park Avenue. Service will be held at St. Monica’s Church on Thursday, November 7, at 10:00 a.m.Burial at South Lawn Cemetery.

DAYTON, Frances May, a Tucson area resident since 1942, born July 15, 1906 in Kansas City, MO, passed away November 1, 1996 at Santa Rita Health Care Center in Green Valley. Preceded in death by husband, Virgil in 1973. Survived by one daughter, Virla Sumstine of Sahuarita; eight sisters and brothers, Margaret Gordanier of CA, Hazel Dayton of OR, Chester Redmon and Perry Redmon of MO and Carl Redmon of TX. Services will be held Tuesday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Valley Mortuary.

DEMICHAEL, Jane Magdalena, 82, of Tucson, died November 3, 1996. Survived by son, Scott (Elizabeth) DeMichael of Phoenix; daughter, Audrey (T. Gary) Blythe of Tucson; three grandchildren and two great- grandchildren; sister, Zorie (Robert) Keller of Green Valley. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. with Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Private Funeral Mass will be held Thursday.Entombment will follow in East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

DURNIL, Kitty (Alma) Lillian Boone, 71, died October 30, 1996. Survived by three sons, Ronald L. Boone of Tucson, David Boone of Tucson, Mike Boone of Tucson; and one daughter, Terest L. (Boone) Morton of Texas; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Morton) Lofton; one grandson, Jeff Morton of Texas; and one great-granddaughter, Debra Marie Lofton of Texas. Visitation will be held at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., Tuesday, November 5, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

ENGLISH, Leola Emerline, 95, of Tucson, died Friday, November 1, 1996. She is survived by her son, Everett of Tucson; sisters, Edith Lawrence of Springvale, ME, Virginia Sylvester of Sanford, ME; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. 'Gram' is also survived by many 'adopted' grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 1996 at Valley Baptist Church, 5250 W. Cortaro Farms Rd., with Pastor Tom Svacha officiating. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Valley Baptist Church. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

FIORE, Valeria B., 80 years old, died Saturday, November 2, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by son, Philip (Barbara) Fiore of Tucson; two grandsons, Richard (Simone) Fiore of Tucson and Brian Fiore of Tucson. Services for Mrs. Fiore will be held Tuesday, November 5, 1996 at 7:30 p.m. at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.

FISKE, Dorothy Jean, followed her husband Harold in death by four days on November 2, 1996. Survived by sons, Jim (Carol) Burns and Joe (Janet) Burns; stepson, Robert Fiske; stepdaughter, Kathy (Rob) Kunis; grandchildren, Jason, Heather, Anthony and Paul Burns and Allison Kunis. At her request no services will be held. Donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society.

GOODELL, Jotham M., 79, a 30 year resident of Tucson, died November 3, 1996. Survived by his daughter, Ellen Lind; grandchildren, Lisa, Michael and Gretchen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen and son, Craig. Graveside Services will be held 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 1996 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1051 N.Columbus Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85711.

LOPEZ, Henry 'Kiki', 19, passed away Friday, November 1, 1996. Preceded in death by his father, Henry Diaz. Beloved son of Deborah S. Lopez. Kiki was born in Tucson, AZ on June 1, 1977. Kiki attended Sunnyside High School. Survived by brothers, Lil’Joe, Michael, Jaime and German Jr; grandparents, Rito M. Chavez, Herlinda R. Lopez, Manuel V. Lopez and Mr. and Mrs. Augustine Diaz; aunts and uncles, Frances Gonzalez, Manny (Terry) Lopez, Raul (Martha) Lopez, Rosemary Norzagaray, Richard (Belen) Lopez, Constance Ohnesorgen, Carol (Ronald) Aguilar, Anthony (Irene) Chavez, Lina (Ruperto) Ortiz, Patricia (Dave) Gussman, Jenny (Joe) Ortiz, Tony Diaz, John (Gloria) Diaz; and numerous cousins and friends. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6 at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 1996 at Our Lady Queen of All Saints, 2915 E. 36th St. Burial in Holy Hope Cemetery. HUFF, Rev. Emerson G., Sr., was born August 29, 1922 in Jamestown to Glenn Huff and Ellie Worley-Huff and was one of nine children. He is survived by one sister, Catherine Huff Reid of St. Louis, MO. Reverend Huff was joined in marriage with Mildred McLeod Darris on November 2, 1950 in Xenia, Ohio. She preceded him in death in 1995. From that union in marriage they had four children, Saralynne Huff-Williams of Renton, WA, Mildred Ruth Huff Morgan and husband Roy Lee of Tucson, AZ and Ella Renee Huff of Phoenix, AZ and Emerson G. Huff, Jr. of Citrus Heights, CA. Reverend Huff was blessed with eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In 1950 Reverend Huff was working at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and while in Xenia, had his two oldest children. In 1956 he was than transferred to Davis Monthan Air Force Base where he and his wife were blessed with their two younger children and stayed to raise their family. He passed away November 2, 1996 at his home. He was loved and will be missed by all. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, Thursday, November 7, 1996 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, Friday, November 8, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at South Lawn Memorial Park. KONZEN, Mary Lou, passed away October 16, 1996. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Vic; her sister, Lois Groh; her family, Mary Ellen and John Fralc; and her beloved grandchildren, Deven, Zach and Ally. She was preceded in death by her son Steve. Memorial Service will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1949 E. Helen St., on Sunday, November 10, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Youth Fund at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

LEVY, Fannie Konick, 91, died November 3, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by one son, Dr. Martin (Barbara) Levy of Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Mary Rosenthal of Schenectady, New York and Freda Warrner of Florida; two grandchildren, Douglas Levy of Tucson, AZ and Mitchell Levy of Aspen, CO. Family suggest donations to either Congregational Chaverim or University of Arizona/Art.Services and Burial will be in Schenectady, New York. MILLS, Ethel G. 'Jerry' 73, of Tucson, died November 2, 1996. She is survived by a husband of 30 years, Delton C. Mills; daughter, Sandy (Tim) Parker; three grandchildren, Chet, Tami, and Brad (Nechelle) Baron; and one great-grandson, Cory T.Baron. Jerry was born January 21, 1923 in Ypsilanti, Michigan and moved to Tucson in 1955. She was a member of Pima Pals and owned and operated The Sundancer Gift Shops in the Plaza and Aztec Hotels from 1978-1985. Memorial Services will be at The Episcopal Church of St. Matthew, 9071 Old Spanish Trail, 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, with the Reverend Margaret Babcock officiating. Memorial donations may be made to The Episcopal Church of St. Matthew, P.O. Box 17116 Tucson, AZ 85731. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

OWEN, Edward, 65, of Oro Valley, died November 1, 1996. Survived by wife, Jean Owen; son, William H. Owen of CA; daughters, Cherie S. Cannon of TX and Carol A. Funk of NC; four grandchildren, Catherine, James, Stevie and Kerri Ann; cousin, Susan Rainey. Mr. Owen was a retired U.S. Air Force Fighter Pilot of 25 years, member of Taylor Field Flying Club, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1044, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and Retired Officer Association. Mr. Owen served two tours of duty in Vietnam and retired as Lt. Colonial. Memorial Services Wednesday, 4:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. Memorial contributions may be made to Experimental Aircraft Association National Scholarship Fund.

RAINEY, Hugh, 59, of Marana, died November 1, 1996. Survived by wife, Susan Rainy; daughter, Victoria L. Jacobsen of Tucson; sister, Carol Ann Weaver of Texas. Mr. Rainey was member of the Taylor Field Flying Club, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1044, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). He was a builder of experimental aircraft. Memorial Services, Wednesday 4:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. Memorial contributions may be made to Experimental Aircraft Association National Scholarship Fund.
