STEPHENS Ernest Clarence, 79, died February 21, 1997. arrangements by BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

VILMANYI, Barbara H., died on March 23, 1997 after a long illness. She was born in Hungary, Europe on March 15, 1901 and immigrated to America in 1922. Barbara has been a resident of Tucson since 1968. Loving mother of Clara V. Buckelew of Tucson, AZ and Daniel Vilmanyi of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Vilmanyi; her son, Louis Nicholas Vilmanyi; her sister, Clara Swanson; and her granddaughter, Kathy Vilmanyi. A memorial service will be held in her honor at St.Andrews Presbyterian Church at 750 W. Chapala Dr. on Saturday, March 29, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Parkinson Disease Association. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee.

WILBUR, Jerry Francis III, age 40, of Sonoita, AZ, died March 26, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Carol; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry F. Wilbur Jr.; sisters, Carol (Lee) Barnes of Ft. Worth, TX, Janie (Dr. Larry) Woodruff of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Nell Ann Arnold of Tucson, AZ.; and survived by three grandchildren, Jerry Wilbur IV, Carolyn Wilbur and Tosha Wilbur. Memorial Services will be at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 1:00 p.m. March 29, 1997 with Father Tim officiating. Memorial donations may be made to charity of choice in memory of Jerry Wilbur.

WREN, Jayne Johnson, 83, of Tucson, died Wednesday, March 26, 1997. She is survived by her husband, Lyle; sons, Logan (Mila) Wren of Long Beach, CA, Larry (Sara) Wren; grandchildren, Christine Wren, Kevin Wren; great-grandson, Tyler Wren, all of Tucson. Friends may all at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, Sunday, March 30, 1997 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 1997 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix.

BLOUNT, Marilyn, 47, of Tucson, AZ, died March 23, 1997. Survived by husband, James Blount of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Roni Harris of Carlsbad, New Mexico; son, Douglas Blount of Phoenix, AZ; aunt, Bessie Cossette of San Diego, California and seven grandchildren. Affiliations: worked for Sun Tran as a Coach Driver, member of Teamsters Union, attended Mission Valley Church of Christ, Pacofino Horse Association. Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 28, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., with Clergyman Pastor Bob Kish of Mission Valley Church of Christ.

GODBEY, Col. David E. Ret. USAF, 78, died March 26, 1997. Col. Godbey has lived in Tucson since 1970 served in the European and Pacific Theaters. He was commissioned in January 1943 and flew 35 combat missions in B-17's with the Fifteenth Air Force. After WWII he flew B-26 aircraft in the occupations forces in Japan and later as Commander of the 33rd Air Rescue Squadron was instrumental in development of Search and Rescue tactics in recovery of downed tactical pilots in North Vietnam while also providing rescue coverage for space missions which included recovery of Gemini 8 Astronauts from the sea 500 miles east of Okinawa. His last USAF assignment was System Manager for all USAF Helicopters and Utility Aircraft. His decorations include The Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, and The Air Force Commendation Medal. He retired in August 1969 after 29 years service and more than 8000 hours logged in a variety of different aircraft. After retirement from the USAF, Col. Godbey was associated with Tucson Realty and Trust for 25 years. Godbey graduated from UC Sacramento and holds a graduate degree from the University of Arizona. He is also a graduate of of The Air Command and Staff School and the Air War College and a member of The Daedalians. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughters, Priscilla A. Miller and Elizabeth A. Hogan; son, Donald E. Godbey, Jr;.; sister, Wanda Cariker; grandchildren, Martha Jane Vehlewald, Susan H. Patterson, Robert H. Miller, Sr. and Kathleen E. Miller; great-grandchildren, Justin Vehlewald and Nathaniel Miller. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. where funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 29. Burial will follow in East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to The Casa De Los Ninos Crisis Nursey, 347 E. Speedway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85705.

HAMILTON, Gordon B., passed way March 23, 1997. In lieu of a formal funeral services, all friends and acquaintances are invited to a celebration of Gordon B. Hamiltons’ life. The get together will be held at Clayton Hamiltons’ home, 2029 E. Greenlee, Tucson, AZ 85719 starting at 4 pm on Thursday, March 27, 1997. HONOMICHL, Emil 'Mike' G., Age 78, died March 25, 1997 and is now celebrating life with his heavenly Father. Survived by beloved wife of 54 years, Catherine; sons, Roger (Dilia), Baltimore, MD, Michael (Nancy), Tucson; daughter, Kathleen Paoli, Tucson; grandchildren, David and Joseph Paoli, Bill and Scott Honomichl; and four great-grandchildren. 'Mike' served in the Army-Air Corp as a B-29 pilot for five years. He retired from Holmes Tuttle Ford after 30 years of service in 1982. 'Mike' touched many lives through his years and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held Sunday evening March 30, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at BRINGS MEMORIAL BROADWAY CHAPEL, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered 10:00 p.m., March 31 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, followed by internment at Holy Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: Queen of the Rosary Chapel; Sinsinawa Dominicans; Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, 53824-9999.

KOWALEWSKI, Francis Carl, 60, of Tucson, died March 25, 1997. Born in New Britain, Connecticut. Survived by his wife of 17 years, Patricia; mother, Julia Janicki; stepfather, Janusz Janicki; brother, Hilary (Linda) Kowalewski; sisters, Teri (Paul) Gionfrido, Isabelle Broff; sons, Gary (Carmi), Michael, Steven (Cathy) and Alan Kowalewski; stepdaughter, Sherri (Scott) Tarran; stepson, Steven Hunt. And Grandpa and 'Papa Frank' to eight grandchildren and Uncle to many nieces and nephews; and longtime friend of Bill Wilson. Served as a paratrooper during the Korean War and recently as a volunteer for Mobile Meals and avid golfer. Friends may call Saturday, March 29, 1997 from 8:00 a.m. until Service time at 9:00 a.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Burial to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mobile Meals.

MASSEY, Walter 'Jack' age 76. A retired Western Auto manager of Tucson, died March 24, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; sisters, Billie Walker of West Virginia and Patsy Massey of California. Also survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss him. There will be no services. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

SMITH, Augusta Mary, 91, of Tucson, died March 15, 1997. She is survived by her granddaughter, Bethany Johnson; grandson, Mark Welch; daughter-in-law, Sally MacDonald. Mrs. Smith had been a resident of Tucson for 50 years. Services will be private. Burial at Elf Cemetery. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

SMITH, Olivia M., age 100, died March 25, 1997 in St. Joseph, MI. Survivors include: son, W. Bertran (Dorothea) Smith Jr., St.Joseph, MI; daughter, Joan Oland of Victoria British Columbia, Canada; grandson, Bert Smith of Atlanta, GA. Ms. Smith has been a resident of Arizona since 1935, moving here from Illinois. She returned to Michigan two years ago. She was a Parishioner of SS.Peter and Paul Catholic Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Bertran Smith Sr. in 1965. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, Sunday, March 30, 1997 from 3:00 to 7:00. VANDEVERDE, Alice Marie, age 96, of Tucson, died March 24, 1997. She was married in 1927 to Mr. Adrian Vandeverde who preceded her in death on December 31, 1967. She is also preceded in death by her son, Adrian Jr. She is survived by her nephew, Robert Braamse of Benton Harbor, MI. Graveside Services will be at South Lawn Cemetery, Friday March 28, 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. BARTEAUX, Mildred, 91, of Tucson, died March 22, 1997. Survived by several cousins in South Carolina and in St. Louis, Missouri and many other friends. Affiliations: Northminster Presbyterian Church, Tucson Association of the Blind. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 12:00 to 1:00 with the service at 1:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Graveside to follow.

BAUSTIAN, Grace E. (Beckett), born November 23, 1907 into a Shoshone, Idaho pioneer ranching family passed away peacefully with family members present in Tucson on March 24, 1997. During her teenage years her family moved to California where she met her husband of 63 years, Wilbert 'Bill' Baustian. The Baustians moved to Tucson in 1957 after many years at James Lick Observatory in California when her husband helped select the Kitt Peak site of the National Observatory. Grace traveled with her husband to numerous sites of telescope construction internationally and was involved in the Cerro Tololo, Chile community for several years during telescope construction. Grace was active in numerous organizations including, Tucson Garden Club, League of Women Voters, Univ. of Arizona Faculty Women’s Club, Newcomers Club having served as past president and Tucson Medical Center Auxiliary. Of late one of of her greatest joys was her involvement in her P.E.O.B.Q. Chapter of which she has been a member since 1974. Grace is survived by her husband, Bill; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy (Jim) Legate of Marysville, California and Mrs. Anne (Kevin) Gilmartin of Tucson; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at ADAIR CHAPEL, on March 28 at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PEO SCHOLAR AWARDS, c/o 2712 Senate Drive #202, Lansing, Mich. 48912. BRUGLER, Francis Kern, 80, entered Heaven March 21, 1997. Preceded in death by wife, Jan; son, Sammy; and grandson, Gene Housmyer. Survived by sons, Jerry (Diane), Chuck, and Mark; and daughters, Sally (Carl) Housmyer, Sandy, Sharon (Larry) Becker, and Jan (David) Welshenbaugh; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. GRINER, Josepha S. 'Jotie', died suddenly in Tucson, Arizona, on March 22, 1997 at the age of 87. A graduated of the University of Pennsylvania in 1931. She subsequently received Masters Degrees in English and Education from the State University of New York. A long time teacher and Vice Principal at Remsen Central School, Remsen, New York. She and her beloved husband, John A. Griner, deceased, retired to Tucson in 1967. She is survived by her twin sons, John of Farmington, CT and Paul of Washington, DC; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

MAYHEW, Rose P., 82, of Tucson, died March 24, 1997. Survived by her daughters, Jacquelyn M. Pruzzo, Geraldine E. Michalsky both of Tucson; sister, Mae Fitzgerald of Walpole, MA; granddaughters, Nicole Sipos, Danielle Michalsky both of Tucson and the Pruzzo family of Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren, Kenny Sipos and Samantha Sipos both of Tucson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Mayhew on August 7, 1977. Memorial Service, Friday, 7:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY. MILLER, Adonis, 59, died March 24, 1997. Husband of Donna; father of Gregory Miller of Florida, Christopher Miller, Cindy Re and Nichols Miller all of Ohio; eight grandchildren also survive. PURSLEY, Vicki Jean, age 37, of Tucson, died March 22, 1997. She was the beloved wife of Greg; mother of Travis age five; daughter of George and Mary Jo Muller; sister of Gail Barrios and family and Gary Muller and above all, beloved child of God and servant of her Lord Jesus Christ. She was born in Tucson on May 13, 1959 and graduated from Catalina High School in 1977. Memorial Services will be held at Faith Community Church, 2551 W. Orange Grove Rd., Saturday, March 29, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Bruce Brock officiating. Donations may be made to the Vicki Pursley Memorial Fund at Faith Community Church, 2551 W.
