BROWN, Orval Edward 'Red' 76, died on Friday, April 11, 1997 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A long time resident of Sahuarita, he was a farmer, a miner and business owner. He served in the U.S. Navy (Pacific) during World War II. 'Red' came to Sahuarita in 1935 to farm vegetables and later, cotton on the land where pecan trees now grow. He retired form Pima Mine after 20 years of service. He also owned an auto repair shop. His favorite place to be was in the Sierrita Mountains hunting deer with his family. Orval is survived by his wife of 27 years, Anna Mae Brown of Sahuarita; four children from his first marriage, Edward Brown and Charles Brown, Tucson, Barbara Bennett, Sahuarita, Fred Brown, Oklahoma; and four children from his second marriage, Lowell Jones, Texas, Anne Brown, Sahuarita, John Brown, Nevada, Art Brown, Washington. He was a good father to all of the children.Orval was the oldest of 12 children. He is survived by seven brothers/sisters and numerous grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at noon this Saturday, April 19 in the Sierrita Mountains.

CABALLERO, Rose Rodriguez, 84, of Tucson, passed away April 11, 1997.Preceded in death by sister, Hermilia Aros. Survived by husband, Carlos C. Caballero; daughters, Carla (Edward R.) Lopez; stepdaughters, Charlotte Sheehan, Norma Bertrand, Loretta Blinn; sons, Carlos Caballero, Gilbert Caballero; sisters, Anita Loher, Celia McAlpin; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on April 18, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 South Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to Carondelet Hospice. Rose inspired love. She taught us to be 'good and kind and generous, especially with the elderly, the sick and the poor.' She taught us to be accepting of differences; to know and love the person within, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a friend to the community. She was a role model. Her loving touch will forever last. 'The Lord gives us many beautiful gifts.' Arrangements by CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY.

FLOYD, Marian L., 88 years old, died Monday, April 14, 1997 after a brief illness. She was born in Ticonderoga, NY in August of 1908. She lived the past seven years in Tucson with her daughter and son-in-law. She was married for 60 years to Harold W. Floyd (deceased). She is survived by her daughter, Jean Schmid of Tucson; a sister, Mary Baldwin of Hudson Falls, NY; many nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Service, 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Interment will be in Huntsville, AL. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Cortaro Vista Community Church at 8600 N. HUSTON, Lucille E., 83, passed away April 14, 1997. She recently moved to Payson after having been a longtime Tucson resident. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ralph; daughters, Loretta Burtnett of Payson, Linda Frew of Thousand Oaks, CA; three granddaughters and one grandson and five great-grandchildren. Lucille was a charter member of the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society and volunteered at Tucson Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital for a number of years. Contributions, Hospice of Payson, 107 E. KATELEY, Roger W., 66, died April 11, 1997. Survived by loving wife, Jean Kateley; three daughters, Carolyn, Barb and Gale; four stepchildren, Waino, Shirley, Doug and Keith; also 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Russel, Marvin and one sister, Karen. There will be a memorial service April 27, 1997 at Tucson Estates Activity Hall at 2:00 p.m., 3055 S. Kinney Rd. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

MORENO, Estella V., 65, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord April 13, 1997. Preceded in death by mother, Taide V. Pacheco. Survived by loving and devoted husband, Jose Moreno; loving children, Christina (John), Theresa (William), Jose Jr. (Jill), Alberto (Susan), and Carlos; sisters, Guadalupe (Fred), Carmen (Reginaldo); brother, Arturo (Pilar); nine grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday, April 17, 1997 at noon at St. John’s Church, 602 W Ajo Way. Interment to follow at South Lawn Cemetery. ROMO, Angelita Soto, 90, died April 15, 1997. Our mother and 'Nana Angie' will forever be loved and remembered for her gentleness and her laughter. Survived by daughter, Veronica Romo Terrazas of Tucson; sons, Joe Romo of Tucson, Enrique Romo of Memphis, TN, Manny Romo of Apache Junction, AZ and Rudy Romo of Tucson; 22 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 18 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 801 N. Grande Avenue. Burial in Holy Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

STANDIFER, Blanche Hazel (Jackson). Died February 19, 1997 at the USVA Hospital, Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie and William Jackson; and brother, Emmett Scott Jackson. She is survived by brother, William (Nelva) Jackson of Las Vegas, NV. Mrs. Standifer graduated from Douglas High School, San Antonio, TX in 1932 and Meharry Medical College, Nashville, TN in 1937. She also attended the University of Minnestoa, New York University and the University of Arizona. Mrs. Standifer served as a Captain in the Army Nurse Corp and worked at the USVA Hospitals in Tuskegee, AL; Conandaiga, NY, and Tucson, Az from which she retired in 1975. Mrs Standifer, a resident of Tucson for over 41 years, had been a member of the Links, Inc; Mental Health Assoc of Tucson; American Nurses’ Assoc; National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees and the NAACP. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 1997, 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel, Trinity Presbyterian Church, 704 N. 4th Ave (corner of 4th & University), Tucson, Az. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that a donation be made to your favorite charity in Mrs. Standifer’s memory.

WILLIAMS, Franklin Thomas, 65, died April 15, 1997. Husband of Virginia L. Williams of Tucson; father of Dwight Williams and Denise (Dean) Kendle both of Tucson; brother of Michael Williams of Youngstown, OH and Joan Hutcheson of Crafordsville, IN; two granddaughters, Cassandra and Victoria Kendle also survive. He was a member of Cloverdale Lodge #132, Cloverdale, IN and Tucson Lodge. Employed 33 years with IBM. U.S. Army Veteran of Korean Conflict. LESPERANCE, William G., 73, of Tucson, died Tuesday, April 16, 1997. Survived by wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Debbie Crutcher and Cindy Hill; sons, John, Mike, Jeff, David and James Culp; 15 grandchildren; sister, Betty Ford. Memorial service to be held at Sandario Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

POTTS, Ronald G. Sr., 60, died April 15, 1997. Husband of Priscilla Potts; father of Mona Neal of Canada, James Stephens of New Mexico; Ron Potts Jr. of Tucson, Angie Porter of North Carolina, Sabria Brooks of Phoenix, Pat Stephens of Tucson and Mollie Armistead of Phoenix; 16 grandchildren also survive. He was a member of the V.F.W. and was A US Army veteran. Rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 18 at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, with father Charles Cloud officiating. QUINN, Irene Luneau, 89, of Benson, Arizona, passed away April 14, 1997. She was born in Quebec, Canada and moved to New Hampshire where she completed her early education at Plymouth College and taught school several years in Tilton and Concord, New Hampshire. She moved to Arizona and obtained a degree in education at the University of Arizona. She was an elementary school teacher in Benson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Quinn. She is survived by her sisters, Aline Luneau and Edwina MacMichael of Laconia, New Hampshire, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 23, 1997, at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, 590 S. Huachuca, Benson, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Monastery, 1605 S. Saint Marys Way, Saint David, Arizona.

STEIN, Isadore J., 87, of Tucson, died April 16, 1997. He is survived by wife, Marvel; sons, William A. (Candis) Stein, of Champaign, IL, Neal R. (Linda) Stein, of Oshkosh, WI; grandson, Daniel Lewis Stein; sisters, Minnie Stein, of Escanaba, MI, Bernice Fineman, of Escanaba, MI; brother, Maury Stein, of Buffalo Grove, IL. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 18, at 2:30 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS CEMETERY with Rabbi Arthur Oleisky officiating. WISENER, Carl L., 73, of Sun City, AZ., formerly of Tucson, AZ and Beecher City, IL., passed away at 9: 31 p.m. Tuesday in St.Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL. He was born March 11, 1924 in Van Wert, O. the son of Alva and Lucy Funk Wisener. He married Fern Black Bruce February 24, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a lifetime member of the Civil Conservation Corps. He had been a 40 year member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Tucson, AZ. He is a member of the Foundation Lutheran Church of Sun City, AZ. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Sun City, AZ and the American Legion of Tucson, AZ. He was a veteran of WWII. He was formerly employed for over 22 years by Pennzoil Corporation near Tucson, AZ. Surviving are his wife, Fern; sons, Dennis Wisener of Tucson, AZ and James Wisener of Portland, OR; stepson, Bill Bruce of Kingman, AZ; stepdaughter, Linda Bullock of Burbank, Calif.; brothers, Robert Wisener of Van Wert, OH and Earl Wisner of Naples, Fla; granddaughter, Amanda; step grandchildren, Eric, Aubrey, Aaron and Brian; step great-grandchild, Nathan; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 1997 in Faith Lutheran Church in Tucson, AZ. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Tucson.Memorials can be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Tucson, AZ or to Los Casa Ninos. AMMERMAN, Richard, 83, died April 19, 1997. Father of Michael (Regina) Ammerman of Tucson and Vicki (Jay) Box of Washington. Grandfather of Elizabeth (Paul) Flynn, Victoria Ammerman, Jamie and Kevin Box. Three great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters in Illinois also survive. ARREDONDO, Herminia Barcelo de Arredondo, 96, born January 23, 1901 in Nacozari, Sonora, died in Seal Beach, CA. Preceded in death by husband, Jose Maria Arredondo, a career consul of The Republic of Mexico at numerous postings in the USA including Tucson. Survivors are daughters, Beatriz Moreno and Herminia Laos; son, Raul, all of CA; also 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

CAPLETT, Arthur, 81, a resident of Tucson, died April 21, 1997. Survived by wife, Bea; children, Ronald (Melissa) Caplett of Calgary, Canada, Sandy (Bill) Boekelheide, Garden Grove, CA, Kelly Vaughn of Lansing, MI, Kathy (Carson) Yeung of Moreno Valley, CA, Kindy Chapman and Colleen (Chris) Luhiau, both of Denver, David Caplett of El Cajon, CA; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Nelson (Lorene) Caplett of Tucson, Richard (Carol) Caplett of Lake Elsinore, CA; sisters, Margaret Martin of Sunnyvale, CA, Rose McQuinn of Fountain Valley, CA. Mr. Caplett was a veteran of WW II and retired from Rockwell Aircraft Mfg. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Graveside services 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24 at South Lawn Cemetery.

CLOVICKO, Clara, 71, of Tucson, died April 21, 1997. Survived by husband, Philip; children, Cary and Christina; brothers, Albert and John; sisters, Pauline, Teresa and Cecilia; grandchildren, Emily, Christopher, Ryan, Matthew, Kathryn and Teresa. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 6:00 p.m., Thursday at the Newman Center, 1615 E. 2nd St. Interment will be private. Friends may visit Thursday, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N.
